When stored and accessed via computers, this information may be more specifically referred to as digital content, or simply as content. On Demand Webinar: Networking for the Cloud Era

Did you know SD-WANs can improve network connectivity? Check out this webinar to learn how an SD-WAN simplified, one-click tool can help you migrate and manage data in the cloud.

I have a Magento website which synchronises with a back end POS system (plug-in install guide).

I'm trying to determine why the sync is not working (I cannot get support from the POS provider).

The debug shows

2017-09-04T04:55:02+00:00 DEBUG (7): Starting products import.
2017-09-04T04:55:02+00:00 DEBUG (7): Initialised "retail" model.
2017-09-04T05:05:03+00:00 DEBUG (7): Cannot run a new import while another process is locking a products import.
2017-09-04T05:05:03+00:00 DEBUG (7): Cannot run a new import while another process is locking a customers import.
2017-09-04T05:05:03+00:00 DEBUG (7): Cannot run a new import while another process is locking a products import.
2017-09-04T05:05:03+00:00 DEBUG (7): Cannot run a new import while another process is locking a customers import.
2017-09-04T05:10:04+00:00 DEBUG (7): Cannot run a new import while another process is locking a products import.
etc

What could be causing this? NO sync is running. How can I determine what the locking process is? etc

When the plug-in is installed on a fresh vanilla  Magento 1.9 install it works and products sync.

Working debug ->

2017-09-04T04:43:03+00:00 DEBUG (7): Starting products import.
2017-09-04T04:43:03+00:00 DEBUG (7): Initialised "retail" model.
2017-09-04T04:43:06+00:00 DEBUG (7): Loaded XML response.

I need to get this resolved.  Happy to employ a consultant if need be.

Hi,

as an service company we need to let our customers sign new contracts every week. for the moment those contracts are paper based.

is there a good way to put this contract online? i mean that the customer can read this online and then sign the contract digitally?

so we can email the contract out and let the customer sign online.

Hi all,

I've spent the last week googling about open source document management systems to try to work out which one to settle on for a documents business. Users of the system require documentation from clients and the other service providers … I've read a little of Alfresco, nuxeo and and logicaldoc and am trying to work out which one is best to base thing on so any advice  on this appreciated…  a lot of the information I've read on websites is at least a few years old

Ideally I want a good quality open source software I can then develop to my needs. I'm a little wary the open source nature of Alfresco may go the way of SugarCRM given one article I read https://medium.com/mathias-conradt/dumping-alfresco-for-nuxeo-as-my-preferred-document-management-system-2116cf421d36  but im not sure how much this should influence my decision.   … here is what I'm looking for …

I envisage an ideal system to be something along the lines of … main users could send documentation requests to clients via a browser link by email & text message … message would list documents required. From the browser, clients can upload documents to their custom repository by drag and drop or file selection from their computer. Client’s interaction with system would simply be web based. Documents are all converted to pdf within the process and stored in the system separately but can be presented back to the user as a single multipage pdf. The system should allow easy categorisation of  the documents …

Hi

I have a friend who is asking for a client :) about their Magento site.  They currently are using Magento 1.14.3.4  Enterprise.

They have a few questions.

1)  Is 1.14.3.4 the most current version of Magento Enterprise?
2)  When is the "end of life"for this version of Magento Enterprise.
3)  Is Magento 2 what they will need to upgrade to?   Or are there other Magento Enterprise options?

Thanks!

I’ll try to make this short and succinct.  I have a Drupal 8 theme that I purchased (I won't name names) and all was good for the first month but then I noticed that whenever I made system changes to the site I would get errors like this (especially when I did a configuration Import):

Configuration block.block.footer depends on the ntv_block_background module that will not be installed after import.

This specific module does not exist, that I can find, but I believe that it is a module that the developer used during development and did not uninstall it correctly when he decided he did not want to use it anymore.  So the data that I acquired from the theme’s SQL was bad to begin with.  I have tried contacting the original author but I get no reply and have given up on that channel.

Digging Deeper: In the SQL database under the Config table is a data blob that contains references to this module in about 63 different data blobs.  a relevant section of the data looks like this:

s:20:"ntv_block_background";a:8:{s:7:"disable";s:7:"disable";s:5:"color";s:7:"#000000";s:8:"bg_image";a:0:{}s:13:"bg_image_type";s:7:"default";s:9:"bg_repeat";s:2:"no";s:17:"bg_image_position";s:0:"";s:13:"bg_image_size";s:0:"";s:18:"background_overlay";s:0:"";}

My Question: There is too many references to remove by hand, Is there a utility (drush or other) to remove meta-data from a module that I no longer have access to and purge the unused data so that it does not …

Hello,

What methods are best for organizing zipped and their extracted files in Windows?

This is not a technical question but relates to simplicity and efficiency. I've never been quite sure of the best way to manage zipped and unzipped files.

For example, I learned long ago that it's not a great idea to extract a zipped file right in the Downloads folder where it arrived. And actually, my question is not so much about the extracted files which, like any file, are generally moved to a folder appropriate for their topic.

But for the original unzipped file, is it best to:

• leave it in the Downloads folder after extracting its contents to some other folder
• leave it in the Downloads folder but move a copy of it elsewhere before extracting
• remove the original from the Downloads folder before doing anything to it
• keep a copy of the original in the same location with its extracted files
• keep a copy of the original file in a different location than its extracted files
• discard the original file after its contents are extracted

I'm sure the above options are mostly a matter of preference but I'm curious re practices followed by others and why.

Thanks

Hello,

I would like to change my layered navigation so users can only selected 1 item per drop down.

as a bonus, I would like it to behave like old style ajax menus
I have 4 different drop down menus in my layered navigation and they are all attributes. Ideally, the first drop down would cause the second drop down to populate, the second -> populate third drop down, the third -> populate fourth drop down. Is it possible to modify my layered navigation to behave this way? What files and functions could i modify to accomplish this?

There is a massive demand for content on the web right now, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon. But, if you are running a business blog, it's not just enough to offer your audience lots of content. It needs to be high-quality content if you plan on making an impact and boosting your business. So, in short, you need to be able to write awesome content, and be consistent at it, which is easier said than done.

But, the following 7 simple rules may be able to make your job a lot easier. Keep on reading.

1. Always Provide Answers

It's just common sense. Put yourself in your audience's shoes. If you are performing a search on Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, or any other search engine, you are doing it because you are looking for answers or useful information. Once they click on your article, they will expect to find answers that correspond with their question. If they’re not there, they will go somewhere else, because the sheer volume of content out there is enormous.

2. Make Your Content Original

We all know that Google doesn't like duplicate content. In fact, it penalizes it. But, it's not enough to make your content unique in a sense that you're using your own words to describe something that is already out there. The goal is to make your content original, too. Try and tackle the issue from a different point of view and come up with some new solutions that haven't been shared anywhere else. Google's algorithm is pretty smart right now, and it will be able to sense if your content is original.

3. Come up With Strong Headlines
Because there is so much content out there that is easily available, people are extremely picky and impatient in their search for it. About 80% of the people will check out your headline, which sound like a good number. But, only 20% of those people will decide to read the article that is behind the headline. This means your headline should be catchy, but most of all, specific, so that the reader knows what's in it for them right from the get-go, before they even click on the link.

4. Make Sure Your Content Is Concise

This doesn't mean that there is no room for longer, more detailed pillar posts. But, the majority of your audience members are used to scanning and skimming the content first. In order to convince them to stick around and read the entire article, break it down into short paragraphs, each with its own subheading. Also, try and introduce only one idea per paragraph. You can also create a series of post that tie into one another, so that they keep coming back for more.

5. Present the Most Important Ideas and Information First

This is a logical continuation of the previous paragraph. Instead of waiting for the conclusion to provide your readers with an important insight, deliver it right away. Remember that they like to skim the content. If you provide them with your key ideas right away, you will spark their curiosity, and then elaborate your point within the article. This is also known as the inverted pyramid method.

6. Use Visual Content

People enjoy eye-catching visuals, so regardless of how good your written content is, spicing it up with some cool images, videos, diagrams, screenshots, or infographics is a must for every serious business blog nowadays. But, make sure that each of those is relevant to your content. Simply stuffing your article with generic stock photography should be your last resort.

7. Proofread Your Content

If your content is free of any grammar, spelling, and stylistic errors, nobody is going to notice, because that is something that should be a given. But, if your articles are full of mistakes, the readers will have a tough time taking your blog, and your business, seriously. It's a drag, but proofreading is something that needs to be done.

Conclusion

As you can see, coming with amazing written content for your business blog does take some effort, but if you decide to follow the tips shared in this article, you will be able to improve your results in no time.

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.

hi hope you are well.

i have a customer who wants me to lock down his apple devices, 3 phones and 4 ipads.

he wants me to prevent him from being able to access certain types of adult websites and proxy websites...im sure you can guess what i mean.

i was planning to use Trend iwsaas, which creates a vpn , which is really good at this kind of thing, unfortunately, he can simply turn it off in settings, and there seems to be no way to prevent him from doing this.  iwsaas can even block keywords in url's , enforce google safe search etc. so i can put "proxy" and "vpn" in the blocked keywords list, as well as actual web addresses.

im looking into mdm but all i can seem to find are very expensive products for enterprise.

ideally id like to be able to configure and maintain this remotely or over the phone because he is geographically an hour or so away from me.

anybody got any ideas as to what i can do please?

Hello,

I've a website in an IIS server.
For securing Wordpress, is enough to write protect the “plugins” folder and write some rules to web.config file?
To what kind of attacks is still the site exposed?

Thanks.

A big percent of today’s marketing activity is performed through the online environment. The marketing strategies that have existed a decade ago no longer relate to what’s happening today. We’re currently facing a revolutionary era, called the digital era. In ten years, the technology has developed

I posted this question over the years but haven't gotten a good answer. I'd been a while and I thought I'd try again.

I have loads of pictures.  they are grouped into date folders - each day has its own folder and pics are in there.

I'd like a way to quickly search for certain pictures. Now, I manually look in folders around the dates I think the pictures I need is in.

What I'd envision is a search capability, that I think would need check boxes rather than free form.

I envision looking at each picture and manually checking boxes for who / what is in it and where it was taken.

Then to find pictures of Ed at Walt Disney World, I can check the boxes Ed and WDW and maybe a date range.

I think I need check boxes rather than free form because I might say Edward in some pics, rather than Ed.  Or WDW rather than Walt Disney World. So when I go to search, I might not find it using free form if I don't keep typing exactly the same each time?

Or even a typo. If I type Ef rather than Ed, I won't find it.  But there's no checkbox for Ef : ) so typos are reduced?

And hierarchial - I might check the 'family' box (which has ed, ann, steve, etc. under it) and see all the pics with  Ed and other family.

And WDW woudl be under florida? Or vacation.  Again, check boxes rather than free form comments for each picture.

Any app let me do that?

thanks!

I am using Joomla 3.6.5.   Last week  I have made changes to a slideshow extension(display on the Home Page) as well as to my events calendar(RSEventsPro). When I open a browser to view the changes, none appear until I use Shift Refresh. The same is true when displaying the Upcoming Events on my Home page. Open my website (www.fitndance.com) and notice that the slideshow only has 4 items, the Upcoming Events(on left side) display older events and then click on the Calendar(on top Menu) and notice on May 19th is blank. Then click on Shift Refresh on the Calendar, and the Swing Dance event appears. Then return to the Home page and click Shift Refresh and the Upcoming Events updates and the slideshow has 5 events.

I have cleared System Cache and does not resolve the problem.

Here is a video link showing what is happening. https://youtu.be/Kg3TqkA9-v8

I've cleared system cache and does not resolve the issue.

Goal is not final answer. Keywords are great. If I increase my vocabulary then I appear smarter.

I can not test process on my own because website has changed
I can not make a test purchase on my own
and make screenshots of every page.
No contract. I do not know the entire scope of the project.
what was on the site in a previous iteration?

going through the pages of information of an e-commerce website purchase one year ago (website changed)

I am resolving a contract dispute because both parties are not really sure what is agreed to

this is a custom content management system where I do not have access to code

my role is to ask the other side for their programmer to produce screenshots of every page clicked to make a purchase

while producing this data may be difficult to the other side;
they cant just go on archive.org because website is dynamic and https
I would like to use a few words as possible to make this difficult suggest seem regular

for example;
show me the "wire frames" of the ecommerce process 1 year ago.

I got one requirement which not allowed to use Google Analytics for web tracking analysis. Instead, my client wishes to have an CMS which keep track of some web traffic data, such as bounce rate, etc.

My question is how do I track the bounce rate in my database? What information should I save into database?

I need some insights so that I can understand it, thank you.

Important Lessons on Recovering from Petya

In their most recent webinar, Skyport Systems explores ways to isolate and protect critical databases to keep the core of your company safe from harm.

Hi,

Recently got an android phone and considering changing from iphone ...

Ive a lot of contacts but the sync is very slow and no progress bar.

Is there a problem with two way sync from android phone to exchange and vice versa?
When I update a contact on the phone it has to go to exchange and vice versa ...

I might consider reverting to iphone if there is sync issue ...  although apple phones are so so expensive compared to Samsung galaxy

Thanks

One of our RSS feed URL's has been https://neighborsofchampaign.com/feed?cat=-4  originally set to pull our General News feed from a Wordpress site.  These RSS feeds are being used with MailChimp campaigns.

Other specific Wordpress categories are formatted  https://www.neighborsofchampaign.com/?cat=210&feed=rss2

Questions:
1. What is the -4 value effect on the RSS feed?  Note: the actual category ID for General News is 3 in our case.
2. Is the domain/?cat=xxx&feed=rss2  the formal way to format rev 2 of RSS?

I have just found two websites with two completely different domains but with the exact same content.
They rank very well in google too by the way.
But is this something that is possible?  I thought it was against web laws (?) to have two sites with the same content.  They are not redirecting to ONE website, they are actually 2 websites?

Can someone help me understand this please?
