Content Management

Content management (CM) is a set of processes and technologies that supports the collection, managing, and publishing of information in any form or medium. When stored and accessed via computers, this information may be more specifically referred to as digital content, or simply as content. Digital content may take the form of text (such as electronic documents), multimedia files (such as audio or video files), or any other file type that follows a content lifecycle requiring management.

I created a content type whose parent is a document.  I then created a document library and in the advanced settings enabled content management of content types for the new document library.  I then went to the library settings wanting to add the new content type for the library and there is no add content type to allow me to use this new content type.

I have a SharePoint list app that uses workflows....

I have one multi-line field that I am using for a history field where I place a quick entry on updates....

This technique uses string builder in the workflow...  What I am trying to achieve is:

date for latest entry
blank line
previous entries

I can not get a CR to work at all, have tried all three format and <br/>

I am working with some folk who are using Expression Engine Version 2. something.  They are considering upgrading to the latest version.  I know that version 2 and version 3 have a different directory setup.  Is there any definitive docs on how to upgrade with minimal pain? Tutorials? Plugins? How to videos?  I'm in the exploratory phase of this project and will appreciate any input on upgrading EE from 2.... to 3.0 - 4.0 and beyond!
I've just had some major "internal" work done on my website (built with FrontPage), and as a result, will need to replace some code on over 100 individual pages.  My freelance coder said that it just might be time for me to consider a Content Management System. I looked at some CMS sites, and I'm starting to think he's right.

My website is

My coder has suggested I look at:

    WordPress  --
    Joomla -
    Drupal -

saying that the best candidate might come from this short list, considering the structure of the site.

FrontPage has given me familiarity with  tweaking pages to the extent that they look O.K. and are easy to use, but beyond that, if I am going to go with a CMS, I would like to go with one that is very easy to use, since it looks like I'll be rebuilding the while enchilada.

So, experts, I'm asking you to scope things out and give me your recommendations before I get involved with learning and implementing a whole new bunch of tools to get the job done. Key thing to keep in mind: while I'm not a rank beginner in messing around with web pages, I am far from being up on the latest tools, so simple is best. I am not ruling out paying for a CMS tool, if it is indeed easy to use.

We are creating a product page and this product has 2 configurable types, I will call them LONG and SHORT. We have implemented a double swatch extension that does a very good job of allowing using to configure a product with various options.

We are trying to figure out if we can have the image swatch sizes for LONG set to 100 x 20 and the swatch image sizes for SHORT be set to 20 x 20.

Is this possible in Magento 2 to have 2 swatches, but different sizes. I only see a single place to change swatch image size in the file: vendor/magento/module-swatches/etc/view.xml
Open Text Content Server: Replicator Import Status explanation

Can anyone help me the place I can find them?
Are there any common risks that can be associated with a company website - we need to do a risk assessment to ensure we have plans/controls/processes in place for all common risks associated with a companies website - main ones I could think of were effective content management (e.g. no broken links, up to date information, compliant with accessibility standards for all user groups) to reduce the risk of customer dissatisfaction/reputational damage, availability, e.g. controls for minimising downtime for hardware failure etc, security, e.g. compromise of site/server etc. I suppose performance, e.g. ensure suitable platform/hardware could be another risk.
Just started working with a free CMS script:  Pretty unfamiliar with it so far.

Have seen Textpattern sites where, after the domain, there is something like this:

and even two levels

Need to create a install of textpattern where we have

so that we can preserve the same URL structure of existing pages

Anyone familiar enough with this program to know how to do that?

I have a WordPress site using avada theme

I need to create a support Section on the site that can be easily updated by non programmers

Ideally I need a tree. View. On left, with expandable nodes, and when you click on a tree item/node, it would load content on right panel
The content may contain text, images and pictures

I would also like a search facility for. This support section of the website

Are there any plug ins etc that can do this?
I have a customer who wants to convert her joomla site to wordpress and has asked to find out how much it would cost to do so. I have no idea at all so I can't setup a Gigs request since I have no budget idea in mind. As such my question is two-fold: 1) can those plugins for wordpress convert a joomla site to wordpress (and how well does it work)? 2) how would I go about determining how much a conversion would cost without using a conversion plugin? She does not want me to share her website URL yet. I know that would be helpful but at this point, I can't go against her wishes. Thanks!

Can i take it that each site in a multisite WP installation does not use its own separate db?
Normally speaking, i don't mess with the control panel or plugins when moving a site. I simply export the db and copy the files. But i suppose i can't do that for one site only in a multisite installation?
what are the free web hosting  and blogging service providers/services that allow monetization ( eg: google adsense)
The burden of debt that average person carries today has not only increased, but it keeps on growing. It is quite common nowadays that people find it extremely difficult to make ends meet in the face of millions of competing priorities that they have to confront. Expenses are far outgrowing income.
Hi All,

I inherited a Joomla 1.5 site.  Within the site, we have a training section and menu is broken.
Joomla broken menu screenshot.

Everything else on the site seems to work.  All the other menus work fine in the other sections.  I tried clearing out the cache and creating a new menu module for the site and that did not work.

Thank you for all of your help in advance

as an service company we need to let our customers sign new contracts every week. for the moment those contracts are paper based.

Hi all,

I've spent the last week googling about open source document management systems to try to work out which one to settle on for a documents business. Users of the system require documentation from clients and the other service providers … I've read a little of Alfresco, nuxeo and and logicaldoc and am trying to work out which one is best to base thing on so any advice  on this appreciated…  a lot of the information I've read on websites is at least a few years old

Ideally I want a good quality open source software I can then develop to my needs. I'm a little wary the open source nature of Alfresco may go the way of SugarCRM given one article I read  but im not sure how much this should influence my decision.   … here is what I'm looking for …

I envisage an ideal system to be something along the lines of … main users could send documentation requests to clients via a browser link by email & text message … message would list documents required. From the browser, clients can upload documents to their custom repository by drag and drop or file selection from their computer. Client’s interaction with system would simply be web based. Documents are all converted to pdf within the process and stored in the system separately but can be presented back to the user as a single multipage pdf. The system should allow easy categorisation of  the documents …

I have a friend who is asking for a client :) about their Magento site.  They currently are using Magento  Enterprise.

They have a few questions.

1)  Is the most current version of Magento Enterprise?
2)  When is the "end of life"for this version of Magento Enterprise.
3)  Is Magento 2 what they will need to upgrade to?   Or are there other Magento Enterprise options?

A proven path to a career in data science

At Springboard, we know how to get you a job in data science. With Springboard’s Data Science Career Track, you’ll master data science  with a curriculum built by industry experts. You’ll work on real projects, and get 1-on-1 mentorship from a data scientist.

I’ll try to make this short and succinct.  I have a Drupal 8 theme that I purchased (I won't name names) and all was good for the first month but then I noticed that whenever I made system changes to the site I would get errors like this (especially when I did a configuration Import):

Configuration block.block.footer depends on the ntv_block_background module that will not be installed after import.

This specific module does not exist, that I can find, but I believe that it is a module that the developer used during development and did not uninstall it correctly when he decided he did not want to use it anymore.  So the data that I acquired from the theme’s SQL was bad to begin with.  I have tried contacting the original author but I get no reply and have given up on that channel.

Digging Deeper: In the SQL database under the Config table is a data blob that contains references to this module in about 63 different data blobs.  a relevant section of the data looks like this:

My Question: There is too many references to remove by hand, Is there a utility (drush or other) to remove meta-data from a module that I no longer have access to and purge the unused data so that it does not …

What methods are best for organizing zipped and their extracted files in Windows?

This is not a technical question but relates to simplicity and efficiency. I've never been quite sure of the best way to manage zipped and unzipped files.

For example, I learned long ago that it's not a great idea to extract a zipped file right in the Downloads folder where it arrived. And actually, my question is not so much about the extracted files which, like any file, are generally moved to a folder appropriate for their topic.

But for the original unzipped file, is it best to:

• leave it in the Downloads folder after extracting its contents to some other folder
• leave it in the Downloads folder but move a copy of it elsewhere before extracting
• remove the original from the Downloads folder before doing anything to it
• keep a copy of the original in the same location with its extracted files
• keep a copy of the original file in a different location than its extracted files
• discard the original file after its contents are extracted

I'm sure the above options are mostly a matter of preference but I'm curious re practices followed by others and why.

I would like to change my layered navigation so users can only selected 1 item per drop down.
as a bonus, I would like it to behave like old style ajax menus
I have 4 different drop down menus in my layered navigation and they are all attributes. Ideally, the first drop down would cause the second drop down to populate, the second -> populate third drop down, the third -> populate fourth drop down. Is it possible to modify my layered navigation to behave this way? What files and functions could i modify to accomplish this?

There is a massive demand for content on the web right now, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon. But, if you are running a business blog, it's not just enough to offer your audience lots of content. It needs to be high-quality content if you plan on making an impact and boosting your business. So, in short, you need to be able to write awesome content, and be consistent at it, which is easier said than done.

But, the following 7 simple rules may be able to make your job a lot easier. Keep on reading.

1. Always Provide Answers

It's just common sense. Put yourself in your audience's shoes. If you are performing a search on Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, or any other search engine, you are doing it because you are looking for answers or useful information. Once they click on your article, they will expect to find answers that correspond with their question. If they’re not there, they will go somewhere else, because the sheer volume of content out there is enormous.

2. Make Your Content Original

We all know that Google doesn't like duplicate content. In fact, it penalizes it. But, it's not enough to make your content unique in a sense that you're using your own words to describe something that is already out there. The goal is to make your content original, too. Try and tackle the issue from a different point of view and come up with some new solutions that haven't been shared anywhere else. Google's algorithm is pretty smart right now, and it will be able to sense if your content is original.

3. Come up With Strong Headlines
Because there is so much content out there that is easily available, people are extremely picky and impatient in their search for it. About 80% of the people will check out your headline, which sound like a good number. But, only 20% of those people will decide to read the article that is behind the headline. This means your headline should be catchy, but most of all, specific, so that the reader knows what's in it for them right from the get-go, before they even click on the link.

4. Make Sure Your Content Is Concise

This doesn't mean that there is no room for longer, more detailed pillar posts. But, the majority of your audience members are used to scanning and skimming the content first. In order to convince them to stick around and read the entire article, break it down into short paragraphs, each with its own subheading. Also, try and introduce only one idea per paragraph. You can also create a series of post that tie into one another, so that they keep coming back for more.

5. Present the Most Important Ideas and Information First

This is a logical continuation of the previous paragraph. Instead of waiting for the conclusion to provide your readers with an important insight, deliver it right away. Remember that they like to skim the content. If you provide them with your key ideas right away, you will spark their curiosity, and then elaborate your point within the article. This is also known as the inverted pyramid method.

6. Use Visual Content

People enjoy eye-catching visuals, so regardless of how good your written content is, spicing it up with some cool images, videos, diagrams, screenshots, or infographics is a must for every serious business blog nowadays. But, make sure that each of those is relevant to your content. Simply stuffing your article with generic stock photography should be your last resort.

7. Proofread Your Content

If your content is free of any grammar, spelling, and stylistic errors, nobody is going to notice, because that is something that should be a given. But, if your articles are full of mistakes, the readers will have a tough time taking your blog, and your business, seriously. It's a drag, but proofreading is something that needs to be done.

As you can see, coming with amazing written content for your business blog does take some effort, but if you decide to follow the tips shared in this article, you will be able to improve your results in no time.

hi hope you are well.

i have a customer who wants me to lock down his apple devices, 3 phones and 4 ipads.

he wants me to prevent him from being able to access certain types of adult websites and proxy sure you can guess what i mean.

i was planning to use Trend iwsaas, which creates a vpn , which is really good at this kind of thing, unfortunately, he can simply turn it off in settings, and there seems to be no way to prevent him from doing this.  iwsaas can even block keywords in url's , enforce google safe search etc. so i can put "proxy" and "vpn" in the blocked keywords list, as well as actual web addresses.

im looking into mdm but all i can seem to find are very expensive products for enterprise.

ideally id like to be able to configure and maintain this remotely or over the phone because he is geographically an hour or so away from me.

anybody got any ideas as to what i can do please?
