Crystal Reports is a business intelligence application from SAP SE. It is used to graphically design data connections and report layouts from a wide range of data sources including Excel spreadsheets, Oracle, SQL Server databases and Access databases, BusinessObjects Enterprise business views, and local file-system information. Report designers can place fields from these sources on the report design surface, and can also deploy them in custom formulas (using either BASIC or Crystal's own syntax), which are then placed on the design surface. Crystal Reports also supports subreports, graphing, and a limited amount of GIS functionality.

Good day, I use Crystal report 2016 with the latest builds and fixes and run into large file sizes when exporting the report to .pdf. The mentioned report inserts .jpg images for example no larger than 300kb but when I export the file size jumps to 900kb in size (3 times more). I already found a topic with SAP advising to add a registry setting relating to custom encoding:

https://apps.support.sap.com/sap/support/knowledge/public/en/1182391

This did not make much difference and causes the export to error out 'not enough memory' when running if it does work (when I select fewer transactions) the file size can get up 54,000kb

Any thoughts?

I am currently writing a Crystal Report in CR 13 SP 12.   I have several rows that look like this:

Name           Service         Quantity         Time Spent
Jeff                Lawn                   1                    3 hours
Jeff                Lawn                   1                    4 hours
Rick               Floors                  1                    2 Hours
Rick               Floors                  1                    1 Hour
Rick               Floors                  1                    3 Hours

Open in new window

What I need to do is combine the rows for each name, adding together the "Quantity" and "Time Spent" columns, so the output would look something like this:

Name            Services            Quantity           Time Spent
Jeff                 Lawn                   2                      7 Hours
Rick               Floors                  3                       6 Hours

Open in new window

How would I go about combining the rows and getting sums in this way?  So far I've created grops for the names and for the Services, but can't break through that next wall.

We have several Crystal Reports that use DB2 (AIX) queries as the backend of the report.  They are year-to-date reports that, when run, show all days from 01/01 of that year through the date the report is run.  I use something simple like this:

YEAR(column) = YEAR(current_date)

Open in new window

The problem is that, if the report is run on 01/01 of the next year, it has no data because  it's only reporting on the first day of that new year.  How can I get it to report on the previous year's data if run on the first week of the new year instead?

I've built a universe using SAP Information Design Tool 4.2.  I want to create a report using SAP Crystal Reports 2016 and use the universe as a data source.  Is that doable?

I'm looking for a Crystal Report addon that would automatically generate and e-mail reports.   The ideal situation would be to merge the e-mail addresses and send the appropriate data (i.e. for a individual sale person) to each e-mail address on file.   Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I have a crystal report and I need to be able to suppress or exclude items that have a group zero balance.  I can't do a select expert and have it take out the zero balance items or I'd do that.  Any suggestions?

have a pre-existing Crystal Report that an end-user wants me to add percentages to. I'm running into an issue because the numbers they want percentages of are Running Total distinct count fields with their own formulas.

At the end of a report, I have several Running Total fields that are distinct counts for cars, one field for a count of each color car. The sum of all of these fields equals a grant total of all cars. So it looks something like this:

Black: 5
Red: 10
Green: 5
Yellow: 20
Total: 40

Open in new window

Each of the car color distinct count fields has a formula behind it to give us the number, and then the "Total" field is just the distinct count of all cars - no formula.
I need to automatically calculate and add the percentages of each of the car color rows towards the total count.  It would look like this:

Black: 5    12.5%
Red: 10    25%
Green: 5    12.5%
Yellow: 20    50%
Total: 40

Open in new window

So how can I get these percentages using distinct counts that themselves are already using formulas to get their numbers?  At this point I've tried using the existing formulas used to get the car color counts to next inside a new formula that would divide it by the car total, but I can't seem to get the result I want.

- This is a DB2 database (AIX)
- Using Crystal Reports 14.1.12.2983

How can I get data for the last full week (Monday to Sunday) in DB2?  I'm writing a Crystal Report with this DB2 query as the back end, but rather than pulling all of the data and then narrowing it down with a Crystal formula, I'd rather limit what data I get at the query level.

Just FYI, this is for AIX and I'm using Data Studio 4.1.3.  Thanks.

We have a piece of third party software that was recently updated, including updates to the SQL database.  We also have a Crystal Report that makes a call to a stored procedure in this DB and now the report fails because something with the sproc has changed and I don't know what.

To start with, here is the piece of code that execs in the Crystal Report:

DECLARE @SDATE DATETIME = NULL
DECLARE @EDATE DATETIME = NULL
SET @SDATE = dateadd(day, -(datepart(dw, getdate()) + 7), CONVERT(date,getdate()))
SET @EDATE = dateadd(day, -(datepart(dw, getdate()) + 1), CONVERT(date,getdate()))

exec software.dbo.sp_test @StartDate = @SDATE,
	@EndDate = @EDATE,
	@LocationCSVList='398EMD5F-B4D0-4AD7-88D8-4RTC721875C9,DE50439F-42CA-4158-BB94-8D172F442D89,B669534F-C021-4D2B-8F0F-E54842C94D27,B40AE910-BD62-40CC-99A3-F065MM8C80B3'

Open in new window

When this executes against the sproc now, we receive an error that it's unable to convert the varchar value to data type int.

Here is the sproc as it stands now:

USE [software]
GO

DECLARE @RC int
DECLARE @StartDate datetime
DECLARE @EndDate datetime
DECLARE @LocationCSVList varchar(1000)

-- TODO: Set parameter values here.

EXECUTE @RC = [dbo].[sp_test]
   @StartDate
  ,@EndDate
  ,@LocationCSVList
GO

Open in new window

I can't change the code for a sproc in a third party app DB, so how do I change the code I'm using in Crystal to still get the results I need and convert that data type?

Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - I have several parameter fields in a report that have different values the end user can chose from.  The report has worked for years. I upgraded the computer to Windows 10 and now when the user clicks on the parameter to see the entire list, the mouse doesn't do anything.  The user can use the down arrow keys to toggle through the list.  The fields are defined as String and the List of Values is Static.

The computer is a Lenovo ThinkCentre - Model #.10M7000QUS.  Operating System is:   Windows 10 Pro version 1803.  This is specific to this model of computer, all other models are working fine.  It's not a mouse issues, I've tried many and it's the same issue.Any suggestions?

I have a crystal report that summarizes telephone call data for a group of agents. The report works as is but I need to add a few more pieces of data to the report. The data is pulled from a SQL express table that has a list of telephone calls for all of the agents with the number that was dialed, date and time of the call, and call duration. The data that I need to add for each agent is the following

Most frequently called number (only for calls where the number dialed is longer than 3 characters)
Longest call: Call duration, Number dialed, Date and time

I have attached a copy of the current report. I am running Crystal reports XI.

I have a web site that creates reports using Crystal Reports 2008.  Currently I have no trouble creating a new .pdf each time a report is run.  However, my customer is asking to create one big .pdf file with a series of Purchase Orders in it.  So, I can create the .pdf for each PO individually, but I can't find an option to tell Crystal to Append instead of Overwriting.
Thoughs?

Thanks in advance,
Harold

Hi:

I made a copy of a Crystal report.  I needed to change this copy to point to a different SQL table than the other report.  I was able to use Set Datasource Location, to do so.

In the copied report, the connection now points to the table that I want it to point to.  But, in "Database Fields", the table name is the same as that of the "previous" table.

And, the "old" report continues to pull data from the correct table.

Really, both reports are pulling data from their correct respective tables. That's good.

But, why does the copied report still display the name of the "previous" table?

Thanks!

Ok, I have a report that outputs information about individuals one per page
I want to distribute this via email to the individuals, I know I could get some bursting and distribution software, but it is far too expensive. So looking for other ways.
My first thought is, can I add the email address as a link in the crystal report, I have some free software that woul burst a pdf file, which I could export from CP
Maybe then I could find something that could use the link to send the emails
All sounds very complicated!!
Anybody got any ideas?

Does anyone know how to use logiciity to burst a crystal report report

I have created a subreport which passes a variable to the main report.  The subreport is the only item in the detail A section.   If I suppress the detail A section, it causes the shared variable to become zero.   If I don't suppress it, even though I suppress everything in the subreport, it messes up my line spacing with a blank line.  I'm assuming I'm missing something simple.   Any help would be appreciated.

I have written the following formula in Crystal reports. If {CnAttrCat_1.CnAttrCat_1_Description} = True then "" else {CnAdrSal.CnAdrSal_Addressee}. The problem is, when I view this information now, there are blank spaces when {CnAttrCat_1.CnAttrCat_1_Description} = True. Is there a way to supress these?
Thank you!

I must be missing something in my logic that I don't see and need help.  I am writing a highlighting formula on a date field.  There are two dates involved.

DateOne = in our system
DateTwo = left our system

The formula looks at DateTwo to see if there is a date there.  If there is no date there, and it has been in our system for more than 5 days it should highlight red on the empty field.

I can get it to work if I check for the date field being empty only.  However, if I check to see if the field is empty and it's been here for more than 5 days, nothing gets highlighted.

Here's my formula:

If isNull({DateTwo}) and ({DateOne} < DateAdd("d",-5, CurrentDate)) Then "X"

Can anyone see the logic I am missing?

I am at the final stage of  getting crystal report to work

in my c# application.

I got to the stage of dragging the CrystalReportviewer to the Report Screen
but found out that the CrystalReportViewer is greyed  out (Not Active)  and simply
gives me a circle crossed red  when dragged  which does not get the viewer dragged

See attached screen below:

Crystal Report Viewer Greyed Out . WHY ???
I believe i have followed all the steps by emoreau  except for the fact that this
time around my datasource is not inline but from a database

What do i need to do,  to get the Tools/Reporting/CrystalReportViewer  active and
selectable

Thanks

I have this script below in my c# application
Its under a click button and its supposed to run a crystal report

[] private void button3_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {

            var results = GlobalConfig.Connection.GetStateCode_All();
            CrystalReportProcessor processor = new CrystalReportProcessor();
            LoginDetails._dsData = processor.ToDataTable(results);

            DataTable dataTable = new DataTable { TableName = "stateorigin" };
            string strFullPath = System.IO.Path.Combine(System.IO.Path.GetTempPath(), "StateCodes.xsd");
            LoginDetails._dsData.WriteXmlSchema(strFullPath);

            _rptDoc.Load(System.IO.Path.Combine("c://TournamentTracker//ReportLibrary//StateCodes.rpt"));
            //Pass the dataset to the report
            _rptDoc.SetDataSource(LoginDetails._dsData);

            //Pass the Report Document object to the viewer
            crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = _rptDoc;

        }[/code]

The first 3 lines executes without error and gets data from a table in database. (see previous post if required to see the data retrieved from database)

However when i got to the line   " LoginDetails._dsData.WriteXmlSchema(strFullPath);"below I got an error

See error screen below:

In Crystal Reports 2008  I have Crosstab simple layout where I present top 10 of manufacturers of 25 and totals of sold items.

Manufacturer             Number Of Items       Sold
R                  35
S                  22
C                  18
D                  16
N                  14
P                  12
M                  10
B                  9
A                  8
T                  6
TOTAL                  150
Total number of Items for those 10 manufactures is 150.

What I need is to add next column in my cross tab as percentage as below.

Manufacturer             Number Of Items       Sold       %
R                  35                        23.33
S                  22                        14.66
