I was recently shipped new server drives for my Dell server (right) but they dont seem to line up correctly with the channels. I pulled out the current drives (left) and want to find the same carriers. Looking at the picture now and it looks like there might be a part number listed but unfortunately this is an older pic and no longer near the drives.

Anyone know what I need based off the picture?

I want to know the best way to install a new Dell T333 Windows 2016 Server to replace an old 2008 R2 server.
I plan to install the Active Directory on the new server, (DHCP is on the router), but the new server is on the same LAN domain and similar IP as the old server running active directory.
I've done this before but used a different domain name for the new server so I could create it on the same network.
Then when everything is ready, (files copied, new mapping, etc.), on the new server, I just change the domain on each of the dozen PCs and do a restart on each.
Is there a better way?
Thank you.

I have a Dell Windows 10, relatively new laptop.  I am having wifi issues.  When wired to my home internet connection, I get speeds of 250-300 Mbps.  Once i switch to Wifi, it connects but I am getting super slow speed of less than 5 Mbps.  Other devices on my home network are getting good speeds - close to 200 Mbps.  is there anything in Windows 10 that would limit this?  If not, maybe the wireless adapter is bad?

Would appreciate any ideas/tips to try.  Thanks.

Can any Expert tell me if Dell has an ombudsman? On YouTube there are many videos that suggest that "If it were not being filmed nobody would believe it". I am in the middle of such a situation with 1.5 year old $5,500. workstation that has been out of service for several weeks now. Even though I am dealing with a "Resolution Manager" it is an upsetting comedy of errors that is truly unbelievable. I need to step it up and determine if I can get assistance from an ombudsman, if one even exists. I need a clue as to if one is in place at Dell. Experts?

Hello, I have a Dell E Port Plus II docking station and Latitude E5530 laptop hooked up for one user.  I recently reloaded her laptop with Windows 10 Pro after her hard drive went out and I replaced.  She has 2 DVI monitors connected to the E Port Plus II.

When I dock the laptop and power up, the screens both flash, the Windows startup screen shows on one of them, then one screen goes into power save mode, the one stays on but it's black, and that is it.  I open the laptop screen and it is at the login prompt.  When logged in, it will use the 1 monitor that stayed on during startup but it should work with the laptop screen closed as always.  It is showing the 3rd monitor in Display Settings when I detect, but the # won't show on the screen, the 3rd monitor stays in power save mode.

I have another user with the exact same setup, OS, monitors, etc. and it works fine.  I can't figure out why this one won't work.  I updated all drivers, BIOS, chipset, etc.  But still I have the same issue.

Any ideas what may be causing this?  I tried 2 different docks, multiple power supplies, but have the same issue.

Aloha,

I am looking at the VMWare HCL. We have Dell R820s with Xeon E5-4640 v2 processors.
The processors are a go for 6.7.x but the host itself is not. Is it likely the motherboard itself
is keeping the 820 off the list??

Mahalo,

I have two Dell PowerEdge R730 ESXi hosts currently running 5.5 update 3 I have upgraded vCenter to 6.5 and when attempting to upgrade the host I receive the following incompatible VIB errors...

The upgrade contains the following set of conflicting VIBs:

Remove the conflicting VIBs or use Image Builder to create a custom upgrade ISO image that contains the newer versions of the conflicting VIBs, and try to upgrade again.

I have checked the nics and I can remove them safely, however, I'm unsure on how to check the rest?
I'm using the install media from Dell VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.5.0.update02-10175896.x86_64-DellEMC_Customized-A05.iso

Dell Server Administrator Icon on DesktopDELL OMSMError in opening OMSMI have been runing DELL Server Administrator program to check on DELL T320 RAID Controller/hard drives for a few years without a problem.
All of a sudden, this morning, it would not let me log in after I provide IP address of VMWare Host, root and its password. Basically authentication failed for no good reason.
So I downloaded a new version and installed it. (BTW I did not remove the old version)
Now when I run "Server Administrator", it does not give me the logon screen. It even fails to load the Logon screen.
I tried Https://VSphere:1311 in Internet Explorer and Firefox, but to no avail. (Default browser is Chrome).
VSphere is the name of the Win10 PC that I use to connect to ESXi Host using vSphere Client which still runs fine.

Can you help?

I also uninstalled the driver and reinstalled etc. Windows 10... any ideas?

Update: on the new keyboard only 3 numbers on the number pad are working.

I have 2 monitors connected to my computer.  One is a DELL SE2416H connected via HDMI.

I also have a Datto backup device that has appeared to die.

Datto support asked that I power the device up with a monitor attached to see if anything appears on the screen.

I unplugged the Dell monitor from my computer and attached it to the Datto device.  I booted the Datto device and nothing came up.

I attached the Dell device back into the computer and nothing shows up.

I powered everything down, unplugged everthing and plugged it back in and booted up... the montiro is still blank.

Any thoughts?

Hi Guys,

I am trying to configure a SonicWALL TZ400 site-to-site VPN.
We have a Sophos firewall router on the remote side.

The Dell SonicWALL replaces our previous Netgear Prosafe FVS336G router, which connects the site-to-site VPN successfully.

I confirmed the Dell SonicWALL VPN / IPsec settings again and again, but no connection unfortunately.

I used the SonicWALL quick VPN configuration.

I've noticed that the access rules for "VPN to LAN" have been auto-added, as well as "VPN to WAN"

Are there any changes that is needed to the access rules, or NAT rules for the site-to-site VPN to work?
Any recommendations are welcome ...

We have about 50 Dell Wyse 3040 Thin Clients and we have just installed the Wyse Management Suite to try to get a handle on what we have and also be able to standardize the versions with more ease. It looks like a great piece of software. I am used to 10Zig management where it will do a search on our network for all its devices so we can add them to the interface however I don't seem to be able to find anything in the software or the manual that offers such an option with the Wyse Management Suite.

Is there anyone familiar with loading currently running devices into a new install of the WMS? I don't see anything such as an import either except for importing from another software package.
Thanks in advance.

Windows 10 Upgrade attempt - from v 1703 to any later version. The machine in question is a Dell Inspiron laptop.

The upgrade process fails each time. It is failing during what is commonly caused 'Phase 2', where a certain percentage is reached, then proceeds no further. McAfee AV has been uninstalled - which made no difference.

My very specific question - is there any log or precise information available that details where in the upgrade process the failure is occurring ? E.g. with a specific driver, setting, software, or configuration ?

Please note: I have already extensively researched on the Internet and read through dozens of suggestions as to how to make the upgrade work. What I'm looking for is some precise information in order to determine exactly where the upgrade is failing, so that I can then pursue the appropriate remedies.

Greetings wise wizards of EE:

I'm helping a friend with a Dell Windows 7 laptop, that has recently produced the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. I copied the Minidump file from his C:\Windows\Minidump folder, which I now attach to this message. I request an analysis of that minidump file, to help resolve that issue. Though I am grateful for all posts, I would ask for a specific analysis of this file, rather than just general advice, so that I may tackle the solution directly.

Many thanks and take care,

Zovoth

In my shop we are heavily considering to an Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) X7-2HA to run our enterprise application RAC database.  Currently we are running our 2-node clustered RAC database on (2) R810 Dell Servers, which are end of life, run on an old version of Solaris O/S, while running on our customized Solaris Zone Cluster environment.  According to our Oracle Corp rep and their marketing this is a superior terrific approach for our application.  According to the marketing:  database in a single-box, consolidates processor, storage, networking, etc only taking 6u rack space.

I need a lot of specifics on how/why an ODA is a superior technical solution?  Any personal experience, need performance metrics and anything to help me sell this new architecture to my senior management. I already have marketing type stuff, suchas:  engineered Database Optimized to Run efficiently, independent hardware with reduced footprint, simpler approach to put database into production.  I'm looking for some meat to support theses statements.

Client has a Dell Latitude E6520 laptop running Win7 Pro 32bit. Is there any reason not to upgrade to Win10 on this device?  I'm wondering because it's 32bit version of the operating system. Are there advantages to upgrading to Win10 on this laptop?
Thanks,
Al

Hi Experts,

We have 2 ESXi identical hardware 6.0 hosts directly attached to a Powervault Md3400 .On 1 host we have 2 active paths, 1 active and 1 active with (I/O) and have a multipathing policy  VMW_SATP_ALUA.

The 2nd host I see 2 active paths and neither one has an active (I/O) path nor does it have a multipathiing policy available to select on the drop down and Storage type is blank.

Is there an option to enable multipathing on Esxi 6.0? I dod not see an option in th emodulard disk store manager on the Storage Array? and did not enable any specific settings on the host that displays the paths corrently.

Thanks

I am running a Dell PowerEdge T310.  I have 2(qty) RAID 1 setups.  The Hard Drives are Hot Swap.  The first RAID runs the O/S and the second my data.  One of the drives in the first RAID has a blinking amber light and states there is a predictive failure.  I can see this through the Dell Server Admin login on the Server O/S.  I am purchasing a new drive that is the same model, size and speed. My question is do I simply just pull the Hard Drive with the Predictive Failure out and insert the new one or should I run the Dell Server Admin and set the Predictive Failure drive to offline and then replace?  What would be the safest/proper way to replace this drive?

Hi,

normally Broadcom/qlogic has a relatively strict driver-firmware compatibility.

For VMware ESXi 6.7, this is also shown in the compatibility matrix for the “tg3” driver

But for the now default ntg3 driver, the recommended firmware is listed as “N/A”

Any experience with this combination?

Or is the tg3 recommended over the newer ntg3?

(NIC is Broadcom BCM5719)

Backup question: I have a Dell 5810 Workstation:
Drive C:  Toshiba SSD 1 TB
Drive D: Samsung SSD 1 TB
Drive R: Raided 1 4 TB brand new Western Digital Black drives

I am sure that my Drive C: is failing. I have only ever backed up my data in a folder by folder method. I have current backups utilizing this method. However I wish to backup the entire C: drive just in case. Since I have 4TB free in the raid configuration is my best option to simply use Windows 10's backup software to copy everything on c: to the 4TB raid? When I replace this computer I "probably" have everything I need on drives external to the computer, but things can be forgotten and Ii want to have the best backup while the C: drive is still readable and writable. The new computer I choose will have the ability to install the two raided drives to retrieve files I might have forgotten about. So, is backup a reasonable choice? Note: I do not wish to troubleshoot this computer any further. I have had TWO motherboards replaced in the last week and am unwilling to go any further to diagnose it. I only want to oreserve my data and then never turn it on again.

Best way to install and download two VM's on 2016 Standard Server? Is it install the 180 Server 2016 Server trial then put in the key that came with the Dell PowerEdge operating system? I've had several licensing issues with VM's in the past.

Thanks in advance

BSOD Dell  DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL   iaStorB.sys

We randomly get the above error and a BSOD on this high-end Dell Precision T5810.   OS freshly reinstalled, video driver updated, all hardware was replaced yet it still occurs, second machine, fresh install, same software.  It can and does occur at idol.  It is running Win10Pro, all diags pass.   I have the same exact apps running on 7 other identical machines, but this one keeps having BSODs.  The pattern is odd, it could go 3 weeks and then do two in a day.  I have thankfully seen it occur with nothing open, just happen to look at screen and BSOD.
People are saying it is Intels chipset, but no one seems to have a clue, and this one has been really challenging to resolve.
Thoughts/ideas?
Thanks!!!

I am trying to configure a new Dell desktop workstation. It is very confusing. I presently  have a class 40 1 tb ssd boot drive.  The model 5810 is probably the one I will purchase. The choices for hard drives alone is mind boggling to me. My most intensive programs are CorelDraw and Photoshop. What is the difference between class 40 ssd and class 50 ssd drives? This is only the first of probably several questions so that I get what I actually need with some headroom but not buy options that are for more intensive use such as cad/cam. I occasionally will use Camtasia to create and alter videos. I am happy now with c": = 1 tb ssd and the same thing for D:. I have 2 four TB high end drives in raid 1 mainly for onboard backup. From the raid drive the important files go to thumbdrives or blueray or dvd.
