Hi I have a HighPoint RocketRAID 3740A that I put in a desktop computer, it is a PoweSpec computer with a Z390 Pro4 P44.00E motherboard/bios.  when it boots I don't get the choice to go into the HighPoint bios.   I tried to hit H+ctrl but it just goes into the Z390 bios.

I have been buying this same computer same bios and installing Dell Perc H740s and they work fine.  Someone on EE mentioned the HighPoint is a great choice too and figured I would try it out.

Question, is there something I have to enable or disable in the Z390 bios to get it to work?

I have a new Dell All-in-one computer, I do not think it has a built in webcam, but I am not sure.

Question 1 - How can I determine if it has a webcam?

Question 2 - If it DOES NOT, how can I get one that will clip onto the top of the screen? I have been to Amazon, none say anything about that. Or is that "old fashioned"?

Thank you.

Hi

We are replacing our virtual infrastructure  and  have procured Dell EMC ME4024 and PowerEdge R640 Server.
10x 1.8TB HDD 10K 512e SAS12 2.5
6x 1.92TB SSD SAS Read Intensive

We have hired an implementation engineer to setup this Storage.

Is it possible to set Tier at LUN levels ?

If this is possible, will it be a good idea to set up the First LUN  as SSD Tier , so that I can run SQL server application on it ( High performance application)
My SQL server VM size is 300Gb

And Second LUN as All Tier ( with Spinning disks) non-performance applications.

Also what raid levels i need to set up for the first LUN and second LUN?

Please suggest what is the best way of setting up this.

Any help and sugessions would be great!
Thanks

Dell XPS 8930 W64/Win 1809

Headphones don't work when plugged into front or back audio jack. Audio is Reatek HD. Have twice uninstalled/reinstalled Realtek driver. Only way headphones work is to plug them in before you boot...and leave them. If you pull the earphones plug out and reinsert, the jack does not work again. The sound controller is something called WAVE audio.  Now when I want to use earphones, I have to plug them in and restart the computer.

Outlook 365 freezes or hangs when attachments are opened.
Should I look at the trust center in Outlook, to see how it treats attachments from external recipients?
Dell Latitude 7490
RAM: 8GB
Windows 10 version 1809
Proposal: Just purchase more memory
Any other ideas, besides mines?
Look into increasing the video RAM, like maybe purchase an external video adapter

I have a dell desktop, all in one, Windows 10.

I have connected it to my Samsung TV with an HDMI Cable, all that works great.

But I cannot control the sound of a playing video. On my computer, volume is set to the max. On the TV, increasing or decreasing the volume (from the remote) has NO effect.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

Working in Sage Contractor 100 2018, when right click (Copy/Paste) client will get an error message Eagle_Error01.png
After this, they will have to run the quick repair on office 2013 Home & Biz.  If they run full repair, it will remove Office 2013 and install Office 365 (Which they don't have, nor want... a license of).  I fully remove Office 365 and reinstall Office 2013.  But the error is getting more common.  Sage support has no idea what could be wrong (They have an active support contract with Sage).

The computer is new this year (Precision 3630) March 27, 2019.  Windows 10 Pro, and all updated drivers from Dell (Including BIOS), Norton Security Deluxe.  No other programs are having any issue, and the computer runs very fast all the time (They report).

Capture4.PNGCapture5.PNGCapture6.PNGCapture7.PNGCapture8.PNGCapture9.PNGI am trying to create a vpn between a Fortiwifi 50e & Dell sonicwall Capture2PNG.PNGCapture3.PNGfirewalls following this guide  https://kb.fortinet.com/kb/documentLink.do?externalID=11657 and it just doesn't want to play ball.

I am pretty sure I have the dell side of things bang on as we have multiple vpn's connecting to sites around the globe, can anyone shed any light on the config as I must be missing something?

Please see attached and i have used 10.10 network for demo purposes.Capture1PNG.PNG

I think an old Dell 2709W monitor just died but want to check if I am overlooking anything. The monitor display suddenly became a mess of unreadable, moving colors. I did not take a picture of that but have two others below.

Here is a picture of the monitor's on screen menu:
on screen menu
And here is a picture of the text that moves around the monitor screen while no input is active:
screen saver with no input
The monitor looks the same way when disconnected from any computers and video input cables. The computer to which the monitor was connected when the failure occurred is working fine connected to another monitor.

I cannot read the on screen menu enough to try resetting the monitor to factory defaults.

In your experience is there a way to possibly restore proper operation of the monitor? Or should I stop investing time in it and replace it?

Thanks, Pete

need advise on a good 4k color correction screen. this viewsonic seems to do the job but when comparing with this dell im not sure (forget the price for now)

the dell seems faster with response time

and the dell has all the adobe rgb colors while the viewsonic at 78%... does this make a huge difference for editors?

Hi, I have a Dell PowerEdge R630 with 6 disks (2 virtual disks with 3 disks each, both RAID5). Controller is PERC H730P Mini
One of tray caddy is broken, and I need to replace it.
I could put disk in "fail" state and replace tray caddy.
Since I can afford a downtime, I wondering if I can simply shutdown server, extract disk, replace tray, and power on again.
Will controller raid "notice" anything?
Thank you!

I am putting together what I call a computer audio workstation for my office. To cut to the chase, what I want to do is use BOTH a Toshiba laptop a Dell desktop along with an external CD player/burner.  i will also be recording vocal stuff using a couple of microphones routed  to computer through a Berhinger Eurorack mixer.

I'd like to use the screen on the laptop as a monitor for the Dell for certain applications.

I know this sounds a bit old school, and it is. I have some specific audio recording work I'm planning to do on a regular basis and have determined hat a separate audio workstation will  enable me to do it easily and  save time.

What do you recommend?

Short description: Dell PowerEdge T300 logical drives keep disappearing about an hour or two after boot!

I've got a Dell Poweredge T300 server with 20GB RAM, 1.50TB storage, and running Small Business Server SBS 2011. The main function of this server is handling Exchange 2010. Roughly 1 to 2 hours after boot the server slowly begins to crash.

At first it looked like the SQL server database was full and something was possibly swamping the processes causing the server to freeze. While watching the disk accesses in the Resource Monitor I saw that the logical drives (C: and E:) would suddenly disappear . Once that happened all functions on the server would slowly crash and I would have to do a hard reboot. The reboot would take about 20 minutes before I could get to the actual desktop to view the event logs, task manager and resource monitor. Everything would run like normal then after about an hour or two the crash process would happen all over again (e.g. - logical drives would disappear, explorer freeze, need to do hard reboot, etc.).

This led me to check the RAID controller (Dell SAS 6IR). At times it froze while I was trying to go through the menu options. Having dealt with this before with another Dell server I suspected that the RAID battery might be failing. Looking at Array SAS1068E it shows a status of Degraded and and 0% Syncd. As I type this I'm about to return to the office to confirm which physical drive has failed.

On Friday afternoon I got in touch …

I am trying to swap a 500GB SSD from a HP EliteBook 840 G1 to a Dell latitude 3590. There don't seem to be any issues with the SSD but when its installed in the Dell, the boot drive is not recognized.
I am able to open files though when its connected externally.

Is there anything i can do to retain the files/data on the drive and have it work when installed internally in the dell?

the dell has Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 1992 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s), 8 GB RAM and windows 10 PRO

I ran MSCONFIG and chose "Diagnostic Startup" from the startup selection to solve an application issue. After this Dell laptop that only has WiFi restarted, it fails to login the user. The option to login is the face recognition and password.
In diagnose mode the camera is not working to recognize the user and since the WIFI is also not working and it is not connect to internet the user@outlook.com or MS account is not working either. The laptop does not have RJ45 port to use Ethernet cable to connect to internet either.
Can someone suggest how I can login to this laptop.
Thank you

We have a medium size network that is down as a result of what appears to be a broadcast storm. We powered down all switches. Then, we disconnected all devices on the switches. Next we connected devices one at a time. All seemed to be going well until about 3/4 thru the process (48 port switch). All of a sudden the all the led indicators started blinking again.  We reversed the process, unplugging connections one by one (with a 1-2 minute wait between). The issue did not go away. The primary switch we were working with was a Dell. All other switches are Dell with the exception of a few smaller switches in offices where it was easier to place a switch than run new cable(s). Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a Dell XPS 8500 with an i7-3770 whose motherboard was bricked by a Dell BIOS update.  I've since purchased another board, but am having problems with RAM.

The original board had PC3-12800 RAM modules.  From what I read, these modules (as well as the PC3-10600) should work.  When I put them in the replacement board, I get 4 beeps, indicating a RAM problem.  I've tried some Crucial brand RAM which was listed as compatible with this model and get the same results.  I've tried a single module in each of the slots, one at a time.

The board does work if I use a PC3-10600 module.

I've upgraded to the latest BIOS and reset it to defaults.  I don't see any settings in the BIOS that have anything to do with timing.

I can go ahead and purchase the slower RAM, but I'd prefer not to.

Is this board defective or am I missing something?

Just wondering if there is a way to not redirect away certain hosts/subnets and redirect the rest of the internet traffic using policy based routing on a Dell switch.  This post has a similar issue but not sure what the solution might be (or if there is anyway):  https://www.dell.com/community/Networking-General/S4048T-ON-PBR-redirect-list-is-DENY-possible/td-p/5178333.

Thank you in advance!

I'm configuring a VMware vSAN  on a few Dell PowerEdge R720s with a PERC H710 Mini RAID Controller (embedded) running vSphere 6.5.  I'm trying to surface the drives (2 SSD and 6 HD) but there are restrictions on the H710 not allowing me to convert to non-RAID.  VMware documentation indicates that drives must be set up in a "pass through RAID" configuration.  So, do I get another RAID controller that allows for no-RAID drives or is there a way of creating Raid 0 drives or can I mirror the 2 SSDs (RAID 1) and RAID the other 6 HDs.  Maybe I'm old school but I tend to trust controller RAID more than software raid, but it's required so not sure I can get around it.

Hi,

We are having a new Dell ME4024SAN specced out and they have quoted for 10k SAS disks( 10x1.8 HDD 10k 512e SAS 12 2.5) and also they have added 2.62TB ssd for auto tiering.
If I go with 15k SAS dHardisk  and will it make noticeable speed difference.
Any  help much appreciated
Thanks

I have a EMX CX4-120 that is showing both SPS have cable faults (They don't its a bug in the Flare version we are running)

there is a manual fix that can fix it but needs an EMC support contract to find it our or upgrade to EMC CX4-Bundle-04.30.000.5.526/EMC CX4-Bundle-04.30.000.5.529 to fix it.

We don't have any support on this CX4 and it maybe the end of it, and there is nothing wrong with it apart from this bug that takes the write cache offline.

Can anyone help?
