Digital Audio

Digital audio is technology that can be used to record, store, generate, manipulate, and reproduce sound using audio signals encoded in digital form. Following significant advances in technology, digital rapidly replaced analog audio technology in most areas. Digital audio systems may include compression, storage, processing and transmission components. It is important to distinguish between the audio coding format, the codec performing the encoding and decoding of the raw audio data, and the container file. Common file formats include .wav, .aiff, .au, .m4a, .mp3, .wma, .ra and .raw.

I need a program that can look at MP3 files, identify them and rename them by Artist and Title. Please don't just google and send me a list. I am looking for something someone has used and can confirm that it actually works and works well. Thanks.

My wife had a new car that does not have a CD player. It has Bluetooth and USB media ports. She has a lot of CDs she would like to listen to. Does anyone know if a "good" Walkman style CD player that can supply power and play through the USB media port, or connect to the car's Bluetooth? If it can connect to Bluetooth, there is power available through a USB power cable (same as used to charge a phone). Preferably don't want to use an auxiliary cable.
Seen some on Amazon with Bluetooth but say they won't connect to a car's Bluetooth, only headphones. Most have awful reviews.

I am using Audacity, a sound editing and creation program. I wish to save my files for a particular project in wav format. I wish to use the most compatible type of wav format so it can be played on virtually any player. I am given several choices. Which is the one for me?
WAV Microsoft signed 16 bit PCM or
WAV Microsoft signed 24 bit PCM or
WAV Microsoft 32 bit float PCM?

Does following a podcast normally require you to create a new podcast?

I host my podcast at PodBean, and generally feel like I made a good decision. I assume after I get some traffic, I could consider hosting on my WordPress site...we'll see.

For now, I have given my Podbean URL on a business card to over a hundred people who were really interested in following me. But, according to Podbean, none has shown up as a follower.

The thing abut Podbean, to follow a podcast, you need to create your own podcast. And I fear this is scaring away so many people that otherwise would follow my podcast.

What do you know about hosting my podcast differently so that to follow, you simply click follow. This lack of engagement may be seriously killing my podcast. I mean people tat were really engaged, who got scared away when they were forced to create a podcast.

I distribute on iTunes, Google Play, Youtube, and soon other sites as well.

Have you ever heard of this? I wold consider switching, simply over this requirement. I am stunned that no one has followed my podcast, considering I have given my business card to over a hundred people who saw my presentation and were amazed.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I am looking for some wireless earbuds to use around the house and at the gym. I am concerned about sound quality, but I also get headaches from larger, noise-cancelling headphones. (I am not sure if this is solely from the physical headphones or if there is something in the noise cancellation that causes a headache.)

I do not like earbuds with the rubberized/gummy feel to them. Those are uncomfortable and never seem to fit my ears properly. I also would prefer some that were not too loud to people sitting around me, as I tend to crank the volume up.

I am mainly considering AirPods, but I want to be sure that is my best choice. I have a pair of basic Apple earbuds right now, and they fit my ears well. I am looking to spend under $200. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Can I use CREATIVE BLUETOOTH speakers to help adit Mac.Audacity audio files?

My MacBook has little speakers and I need a louder set. Can I use CREATIVE BLUETOOTH speakers as output for my Audacity?

I connected the speakers to my Mac via BT but when I open Audacity, I do not see CREATIVE as an option on the speaker drop down.

Is this a connect that should work?

Using two microphones with Audacity (Mac High Sierra)

I have two microphones working as inputs with Audacity, via this box:

https://www.google.com/search?source=hp&ei=nt4TXNHgDMOw5wKClbP4Cw&q=UMC202HD&btnK=Google+Search&oq=UMC202HD&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0l10.1107.3443..3840...0.0..0.316.1964.0j4j4j1......0....1..gws-wiz.....0..35i39j0i131.Xobu0FE3zh0

But, Audacity creates a single track with Left and Right sub-channels for a single channel, while I need each to have each microphone in its own channel.

Or, is there a way to convert a track with Left and Right to two distinct channels?

Thanks

Trouble distributing a podcast on iTunes

I have a podcast that is now working:
https://eagleeyeoutlook.podbean.com/

and I want to submit it to iTunes.

Does this mean I need to get picked up as a developer?

I plan to have only free episodes.

I created a new Apple ID but am blocked from logging in when I try and log onto:
https://itunesconnect.apple.com/login

I get the error:
Your Apple ID isn't enabled for iTunes Connect

What is the minimum I need to do for this to allow me to get configured?

Thanks.

I run Windows 10 on my computer, but use iTunes to sync my songs and Outlook with my iPhone.  What I can't figure out is how to separate my different groupings of songs (e.g. My Favorites, My Wife's Favorites, Dance Tunes, etc.)?  I do have separate playlists, but when I want to import a bunch of - for example - "Hard Rock" songs, they're just added to my master list and the only way I can get them transferred to my "Hard Rock" playlist is by going song by song through the list and trying to remember which ones belong in the appropriate playlist.  With several hundred songs in my master list, this becomes unmanageable.  Is there a way to keep the imported songs segregated by category or folder or ?????   I'm more than willing to buy a third-party software program if that's what it takes.

Thanks,

Phil

Audacity: How to mute all silent periods?

I have pauses between my speech, but sometimes I hear breathing and other small sounds which forces me to edit each one. Or, even a jet overhead which could not be heard as I spoke.

Is there a way to fix all these silent periods at once? Is there a feature (like Amplify) where I could reduce them all by about 10 Db?

Thanks.

Got a lecture on MP3.  About an hour long.

Want to cut bits of it into a loop.

Looking for super simple drag & drop audio cutting and splicing.

Audacity seems too complicated.  Need something simpler.  Only requirement is to select blocks of audio and splice them together.  No need for processing or enhancing.

What looks like an easy piece of software to do this?

I know there are programs, like Audacity, that will null out background noise.  You give them a sample of just the noise and they subract that from the whole audio track. Does anyone know what these programs do if the noise sample is louder than whats in the audio track? Suppose, for example, you shot a video walking around a store while the manager talks about the various items.  The noise you want to null out is a generator at a building site across the street.   But this noise will be louder when we're walking near the front of the store than when we're at the back.  If the noise sample being used to null out the noise is louder than  the noise in the audio,  will noise get added back in, or will it the track noise just go to zero and stop?

Thanks

How strict is iTunes for podcast approvals?

I have done extensive research on the 9/11 attacks and have found new historical connections to 9/11 attacks in U.S. and world history that seem to have been scrubbed from the narrative. But I worry that iTunes will filter my podcast out, because it does sometimes touch on the political motivations of various entities.

How concerned should I be that iTunes will filter me out? Or, is the approval process towed out violence, porn, etc?

I hope iTunes does not act as the "thought police" and block my extensive historical narratives.

I hope to hear about other people's experiences with potential filtering of podcasts.

Thanks

Need to choose WordPress plug-in for an audio and video podcast

But I am still not so knowledgeable about distribution of the podcast

Here is a list of Theme Forest themes I may choose from.

https://themeforest.net/tags/podcast

Suggestions?

If I use a podcast theme on my WordPress site, what is missing from my hosting requirements? Are the videos stored on YouTube? And the MP3's stored on my website?

Does the theme contain the interface to iTunes and other podcast distribution outlets?

I am pretty new at this and do not yet have a feeling for what is what.

Thanks.

Publishing a podcast to the iTunes store?

I wonder if this is a way to eventually generate revenue from my incredible discoveries which reveal the hidden history of 911.

How does this work?

Do people pay a subscription fee? Or maybe a couple of bucks per audio?

I would start for free for a long while, at least.

I will be covering history, but only as it relates to the hidden history of 911.

Does this include the ability to show pictures? Or is it just audio?

Does Apple have "Thought Police" that pull my account if I use a non-sanctioned word?

How do I find these things on iTunes? I'd love to see this.

Is it my job to promote the podcast? Or, does iTunes allow me to use search words, etc. to get SEO traffic?

Thanks

Need PodCast tools

I want to start a podcast which will include audio and video, but I want to do as little web development s possible. I want to build my podcast on a proven platform, so all I need to do is create great content.

Suggestions?

I'd like it to be free, if possible. But, I'd consider a small monthly fee, if the features are helpful.

Also, I have seen a way to have your own web radio station. Does anyone know about that?

Please let me know.

Thanks.
