Digital Audio

Digital audio is technology that can be used to record, store, generate, manipulate, and reproduce sound using audio signals encoded in digital form. Following significant advances in technology, digital rapidly replaced analog audio technology in most areas. Digital audio systems may include compression, storage, processing and transmission components. It is important to distinguish between the audio coding format, the codec performing the encoding and decoding of the raw audio data, and the container file. Common file formats include .wav, .aiff, .au, .m4a, .mp3, .wma, .ra and .raw.

I am running Windows 10.  Years ago I had a program that allowed me to take a bunch of my songs and balance the volume so that when I made a playlist the volume on all the songs would be the same.  I don't remember the name of the program - and there are probably newer/better ones out there now.  Can you recommend a simple program to adjust volume on a group of music files?

Thanks,

Phil

I'm trying to capture the above minister's speech video with ATube_Catcher :
1. refer to attachment 1 : if I use this option, the captured wmv file could be
played back with it video fine but it's audio is simply a high-pitched &
sometimes noisy audio that we cant make anything out of it.  Above
URL plays fine (both audio & video) when played from browsers

2. if I use the Stream Catcher option, it requires WinPCap which when
installed caused the above video as well as all Youtube videos can't
be played at all on all browsers : had to deinstall WinPCap to recover

3. If I use VLC, see attachment 3,  it requires actual  avi/mp4  or video
file which above URL is not as only a portion of above URL is video

What else can I do: appreciate any freewares.  I'm not good with using
plug-ins, so a layman step by step instructions is needed.

I could use my phone / videocam  to record but this is not what I am
looking for

Helping a friend that wants a simple way to play streaming music in his shop.

I thought of Alexa / echo dot.

Also thought of a cable TV box connected only to audio to play the music channel through the audio out.  But a cable box rental / TV service would be expensive / month.

Are there 'appliances' for specific streaming services for audio?

Otherwise I envision having to have a PC / iphone / ipod type thing running the app of a streaming service?

And then - this is music to play in a hair salon.  What's the legality of playing the services in a commercial environment?  Is there a business subscription  that covers playing it in a commercial business?

Finally - feeding the audio out of an echo dot / PC / ipod into 3 speakers for a 1,200 sq ft room.  We're thinking 3 ceiling speakers. But need an amp to do that? Any recommendations?

I have a Roland RP102 digital piano, which I purchased so I could practice with headphones so I wouldn't disturb anyone with my playing.

I also have an iPad, and would like to listen to instructional videos with headphones at the same time. Is there a way I can listen to both....so I receive audio via headset for both devices?

Playing video as a presenter, to a remote PC

I need to edit a video (using Premiere Pro) with a friend, who can only collaborate with me via a remote PC. I have the Join.Me service, but verified that Join.Me does not share video which are played on the PC for the meeting host.

I know that the image for the video is visible remotely, since that is part of the desktop. But the audio fails, so I can not edit my video with the help of my friend, because I can not share audio.

Does anyone have any suggestion? We both have a Mac.

It would help a lot of I could do this.

Thanks

I discovered Media Monkey's great (and, I believe, automatic) functions of (1) automatically setting the playback volume of all tracks to the same level and (2) starting the following track very nicely when a track has a fadeout ending, for almost continuous music.

But I need help.

First, how do I change those miserable dark brown and black colors on the interface to something more readable? I can't seem to find that info anywhere in the user options. Is that something in the paid version that isn't spelled out anywhere? I don't mind popping for the paid version as long as it does what I need it to do.

Next, what I want to do is to set the playback to just go from one track to another (mixed playback list, no set order) AND during the playback, "tell" Media Monkey to stop after the song playing (so I can use a PA system to make an announcement) and then resume (NOT start over) at the touch of a button.

I find it surprising that what I perceive is simple is eluding me. So I guess I should add that if this can't be done with Media Monkey and you know of another audio/media player that offers these features, let me know. I suppose I could always normalize the list and use another player if the "pause" situation of my second question here worked very smoothly.

Need an amp for my Anroid phone.

Found the FiiO A3.  Nice.  Uses cables.  But, using my headphones that have an in-line button to skip forward & does not work.

Need an amp that uses cables AND can recognize when inline skip button or pause is pushed on headphones.

Bluetooth amp from FiiO works.  But, don't want to use Bluetooth.  Need cable only situation.

Open to an amp that has its own buttons.

Anything like that exist?

Thanks!

Hello and Good Morning Everyone,

I recently purchased an Amazon Echo (2nd generation) and wish to know how to get it to play back music.  From what little I gather, an online membership to a music store is required.  That said, I am hoping to find one which provides a 30 day free trial with subsequent months being a low flat rate membership fee with unlimited playback of music.  The Amazon Echo (2nd generation) is currently connected to our WiFi and working great.

In closing, I greatly appreciate any suggestions to online music stores which are compatible with the Amazon Echo along with any step by step guides for setting this up with the music store.  I look forward to reviewing everyone's feedback.

           Thanks again.

Hi All,

I am looking for a Super Audio CD Player to play my SACD and HDCD (some hybrid) with my tablet & modern laptop.
Because the newer model hardware nowadays doesn't include the optical drive, I wonder if anyone can suggest me some USB 3.0 drive that I can attach to the docking station for listening to music (Hi-Fi quality).

I cannot see here if Super Audio CD is supported: https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Computer/Computer+Drives

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Can someone recommend noise cancelling headphones for the server room?  Should be compatible with Android USB-C.
I used aviation-grade noise cancelling headphones long time ago.  Forgot the model.  And that was a landline in my cage.
Thanks.

I have a web page that displays and plays my voice messages stored elsewhere on the web. I am having a problem with the Chrome built in audio control running in an iframe. Here is what it looks like:audio control in iframeHere is the code:
<a href='https://api.twilio.com" . $recording->uri . "' target='newframe'>Play</a>
....
<iframe name='newframe' frameborder='0' height='150' width='300'></iframe>

As you can see, there is a big black area above the audio control.

I can wrap the iframe in a div to round the corners:audio control in iframe with round cornersCode:
<div style='display:inline-block;height:150px;overflow:hidden;border-radius:27px>
<iframe name='newframe' frameborder='0' height='150' width='300'></iframe>
</div>

But if I try to reduce the height of the iframe and div, the audio control just gets smaller and I loose the time slider"shorter iframeCode:
<div style='display:inline-block;height:54px;overflow:hidden;border-radius:27px>
<iframe name='newframe' frameborder='0' height='54' width='300'></iframe>
</div>

I tried just reducing the height of the div or iframe without reducing the other but then the audio control is out of the frame.

Any idea of how to reduce the height of the iframe without changing the audio control?

I am thinking of using the HTML5 audio control instead (as in the sites below) but I am not sure how to load and then play a new message from the <a> link.

I am looking for a decent wireless microphone system with at least 2 channels for small presentations of less than 60 participants.

Ideally, this is what I am looking for...

- 1 wireless lavalier microphone for the presenter. Ideally one without a bulky transmitter.
- 1 handheld wireless microphone for audience participation.
- A channel mixer with a line out to record audio on computer.

The device needs to cost under $300.00

I have searched Amazon and I can't find any units that have a good rating and offer a handheld wireless mic with a lavalier style presenter mic.

Any ideas?

Thank you. :)

Which version of Dragon Naturally speaking will transcribe from a file, such as an mp3?

I cannot access BBC 5 Sports Extra for some programs which have broadcast restrictions. I accept that. However before I could access the channel and if the item was restricted I would be told that. Now when I try to contact BBC5 Sports Extra I get  the following:
'The sound of silence
We're trying to play this station, but we're having problems. Apologies.
The station's stream may be broken, or there may be a mis-match between this stream, and your device.
Please click here to retry'

I have tried this on other computers and laptops, but with the same result. Can anyone explain?  I have no problem in getting BBC Radio Four and other BBC radio channels.

I have an MP4 video file.  I and extended family want to watch it on  TVs.  Curious what ways you can suggest I do it.

I have a PC with VGA output connected to a VGA port on the TV (an HD capable 55" TV a couple years old).  That works.

But what other ways for those of us without the PC connected to the TV?

I have the MP4 in my iphone's pictures / videos.  It plays great on that little screen.  but it doesn't seem to be able to stream / mirror to a TV.  I hear that an apple TV box WOULD work.

Any other ways?  with a chromecast? with an apple firestick?  Can most newer DVD players play a DVD with an MP4? Or I have to convert it into a DVD format (the audio and video folders, etc.?)  and then there's actually 3 different videos.  Do I need 3 DVDs or can a DVD player select between 3 different MP4s?  Or in DVD format, have to make a menu?

Saw a youtube link (which I've now misplaced) that Bluestack software could
replace VCE exam dumps player:
https://www.bluestacks.com/download.html?utm_campaign=homepage-dl-button#download

I've installed it on my Windows but doesn't seem to find any option that could play it.
Anyone knows?  Or any other freeware player to play VCE dumps on Windows (not
for Android)?

Hi
I wrote a lot of music and am curious about the potential of spotify.

Do kids really listen to it as much as it seems?

Taylor Swift had an entanglement w them, but that was sorted out, concerning payment to artists.

Is this only for seemingly professionally managed artists? who can play gigs on a moment's notice?
Didn't some dude put a song he'd recorded at home on and it became huge? What happened to him?
Thanks

I have always used iTunes for my music but finally got tired of them updating it every two weeks so I'm trying to set up Windows Media Player.  The first thing I noticed is that you can't drag and drop folders into a playlist like you can on iTunes so how do I create a playlist that I can put my music in.  I created one playlist (gave it a name) and attempted to transfer a bunch of songs into it by dragging them but it won't accept them.

The music is in a sd card which shows up on the computer as Drive (F). I know that it found the music because I can see a bunch of songs in WMP but they are not "by folder", the way I have them categorized.  i.e., Country, Jazz, Big Band, etc.
