Digital Audio

Digital audio is technology that can be used to record, store, generate, manipulate, and reproduce sound using audio signals encoded in digital form. Following significant advances in technology, digital rapidly replaced analog audio technology in most areas. Digital audio systems may include compression, storage, processing and transmission components. It is important to distinguish between the audio coding format, the codec performing the encoding and decoding of the raw audio data, and the container file. Common file formats include .wav, .aiff, .au, .m4a, .mp3, .wma, .ra and .raw.

I went through this a couple of years ago, and the situation has changed a bit, but once again, I am stuck!

I have an iPDTL account. I want to have a friend connect with me online. He will be talking on a microphone through his computer and I will be doing the same, We should be able to hear each other just fine with headphone plugged into the computers. I want to record our conversation using Adobe Audition.

That's it.

But I am having MAJOR trouble simply understanding how to set this up. I am technically challenged big time here.I need a simple step-by-step solution starting with giving my friend a log-in and EVERYTHING after that. I have written the iPDTL company and find I am unable to follow their simple reply.

Help, anyone? (Remember: keep it simple. I really need to be led by the hand through this. Assume nothing.

I use Windows 10 fully updated.

I've successfully used WavePad Audio Editor - NCH Software to delete the first few minutes of a recording.

But I've been unsuccessful in using WavePad to generate a new file and to use it for a recording of my voice.

My microphone is fully functional.

Your help, Experts please.

I use Windows 10 fully updated.

I've successfully used WavePad Audio Editor - NCH Software to delete the first few minutes of a recording.

But I've been unsuccessful in using WavePad Audio Editor - NCH Software to delete the last few minutes of a recording.

The key to the success is using right-click 'Select to start' and then 'Delete'

But I've failed to understand how to use right-click 'Select to end' to delete the last few minutes of the recording.

Your help, Experts please.

I'm in the process of listening to a book that has each chapter saved as an .MP3 file.

This book is contained within a folder within my Spring PCS Android Samsung Galaxy S8 cell phone.

Currently only one chapter plays at a time and then I have to find the next chapter's MP3 file on the phone and play it next. I need the book to play non stop.

How can I set this book to play one chapter's MP3 file one after another using the MP3 Player app which I installed from the URL link below?

If I have a single track of Audigy music showing perhaps 30 tracks, all visible with obvious silent periods between songs, how do I tell Audigy to set the next track back to zero time in order for me to keep easier track of where I am? I am attempting to transcribe 33'2 to digital. I DO know the length of each song so this possible feature would be great if it exists. Does it?

The amount of bass on my computer needs to be cut in half. The voices are sometimes so bassy that they cannot be understood. Also, this same computer does not seem to give me the option of telling it that i am listening via headphones. It is defaulting on full range speakers.
computer: Dell M4800 Workstation / Laptop 64 bit
Opsys: Windows 10
Memory 8 gig
Sound card: Realtec (Net indicates that  I am using the latest driver)

Note: I am a patient in a Hospital that could delay me in responding in a normally timely manner. I cannot tell when I can be online due to a multitude of medical reasons. Please be patient if need be.

Hi
I have addressed this a little already.
I have completed my audio/video upload site. I am not going to go public, because of the $500 / hr legal fees of all the attorneys I'll need to pay to draft up TOS and copyright needs for users and their music, and safety for my site being the forum for violations.

So, the months of questions there have come full circle, Thanks

But, I have seen comments here and there on the net about nobodies getting serious exposure for their music. What is the best way to do this for my music? My site was not for my music, but anybody's uploads..

My music is not recorded, but could be soon. I don't have a band. I'm quite happy being a loner.
I get the impression that there are forums out there for young people to listen to new music coming out, where artists can add their music to a queue of sorts for playback to listeners?
Are there real ways to advance new music?

Thanks

I had this question after viewing many beeps instead of one quick beep.

1 notification per 1 minute. You can create a mp3 file for a customized notification tone which comprises of 6 or more short beeps in one minute.

How can I do this in android 7

Hello Experts,

It was recommended that I use Audacity for mixing music - and I totally agree.

I need to be able mix in the next track, so it fade in, instead of starting abruptly from the beginning.

I was given the following link to show me how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvCk6RmlUms

However, this link shows me how to combine my tracks - which is what I like, but what I also need is the ability to fade in each track as I've just described.

Can someone let me know if that's possible with Audacity?

Cheers

Carlton

Please provide me with a list of Android apps similar to Audible that will continue playing a group of .MP3 files from point where playback last left off.

I listen to a lot of lectures and meetings that have been saved in .MP3 format and the problem when I use the built in Android app on my Samsung Galaxy S8 to play these files back is that this app will not continue playing the .MP3 files from the point where I last left off listening to these files (even after I have followed suggestions that should fix this issue).

These meetings or lectures usually consist of around 50 MP3 files that are all 20-30 minutes long. I listen to these while I am driving, and it is very easy to forget exactly where I left off when I go back to resume listening to these audio files later.

Resuming playback from the point where you last left off is something that the Audible audio book playback app does quite well and this is what I need for these groups of .MP3 files that I listen to.

What Android apps will do this?

I am putting together a music playlist for an upcoming event.  I have MP3 files from a variety of sources, and when they play back the volume varies.  Is there a technique or software that will balance the volume so that it plays consistently?  I am on a Windows 10 PC.

Thanks,

Phil

What are some good Windows utilities for combining several MP3 files together into a single MP3 file?

Years ago, Moodlogic was the best way to organize mp3 files. It compared the mp3 to the gracenotes db and was incredibly accurate. It has since been taken down and I have tried several apps that all do a poor job. I am looking for the best current app.

Hi

I'm lined up to record my music at a quality studio.
A few bars in my songs are pretty tough to play, and a software instrument would nail it, I'm sure.
The producer said her assistant would load her software instrument kit in to Pro Tools.
As luck would have it, hers is a little old. My Software instrument everything (Native Instruments Komplete) doesn't work in Pro Tools, but does in Logic.
I cant imagine the assistant's suite is a let down?
Anyway
Do you think software instruments are glaringly soulless and lame?
I could make the protools incompatibility irrelevant, if I record the S.Instrument backing in Logic to the correct beats
Anyway, she has worked with tier 1 artists, and I don't want to have a >0 coefficient of clownage.

Hello, I am looking for some type of software that would be able to help me sort video files I have saved on my computer. Most of the video files were ones that I saved from youtube or from my digital camera, but I have literally thousands of movie files that I have accumulated over the past few years. I want to delete probably 75% of the movie files, but I have to go through them one by one.

For example I have to double click a single video file, wait for VLC player to load, then after a few seconds the video plays. I use the mouse to quickly fast forward and scan through the video to determine if it is a keeper or not. If it’s a keeper I have to close out VLC player and drag and drop the file into a “videos to save” folder. If I determine I no longer need it I have to close out VLC player and send that media file to the recycle bin.

I have to do that task over and over for each video and I have about 7000 total files. Also VLC media player has to be closed out each time I  move or delete a video file, because if the file as active it will not let you change the destination of the file.

It would go much faster if I could load the files into VLC play list, and after I scan through the video to determine if I want to save it or not, if a program let me give that video a rating such as  5 stars (meaning it’s a keep file) or rate it one star (meaning that one can be deleted). Then once I rate it I could just hit the “load next file” button for VLC player and I can …

Hello,

What is the best/simplest way to create a customized tracklist to display when playing a CD?

My mother is a (young) 83 year-old who spends quite a bit of time driving in her car each week. She really enjoys listening to recorded talks but has exhausted her supply and is tech-UN-savvy. She's quite comfortable using the CD player in her car however, so I told her I would be happy to create some CDs containing talks from the public domain.

The talks download as MP3 files and we agreed that the simplest navigation scheme for her would be to have the tracklist display as follows:

    |    Track #    |    Speaker Name    |    Date    |    Venue    |    Title    |

I haven't created many CDs in that manner but it seems like downloaded files (or maybe all MP3 files) usually contain data which appears by default in the tracklist. If that is correct, and:

if I've got the data I want to use in five corresponding columns in an Excel spreadsheet, what is the best method or software for:
    1) overwriting the default data and
    2) creating a tracklist from my spreadsheet?

By the way, I've got VLC Media Player installed. Is that a good option?

Thanks

Hi

I have created a media upload website.
Anyway, I'm concerned that my dear users might upload songs or videos, only to have them stolen by renegades and losers
I applied for trademark of my website name today on legalzoom.
I once heard that having a provable version of art, eg, a recording/book in a mailing, is as good as copyright.
Can I have a text field for my artist 'Megatrons' to say for their song 'home invasion'
" Copyright @2017 Megatrons"
and that have meaning, legally?
Thanks
What should I consider?

I have a Sony Handycam HDR CX240 camcorder.

This camera will be used to record video outside for a few hours.

A good few people would like to watch this video footage live while it is being recorded.

Facebook Live seems to be a good streaming service for this task.

How would I stream this video footage through Facebook Live through use of my Sony Handycam HDR CX240 camcorder?

Thanks,
Robbie

I plan to get the 30-day free trial for Adobe Premiere and wonder if Adobe Premiere would replace Audacity (for me) for audio editing?

I have use Audacity for years to make my own recordings and am pretty handy with it. But if Adobe Premiere is good enough, I may have no need for Audacity.

Thoughts?
