I'm curious as to why some artists post on VEVO versus YouTube.
Musical artists in particular.

We have 2 large screen / HDMI input TVs.  We've been paying for 2 cable boxes - 1 is a (whole house) DVR and the other is just a cable box.  There's only 2 of us in the house / we never watch tv on both TVs at once.

I can return the 1 cable box and save about $12 a month, I'd like to be able to feed the 2nd TV (now without a cable box) with a signal from the HDMI output of the DVR cable box.  Yeah, we have to run between the 2 TVs to change channels, etc.

What's the max cable length for an HDMI cable and still have a usable signal at the far end?

I'm familiar with coax and A/B switchboxes and signal splitters to get the signal to both TVs (and either use the A/B switch or just splitter depending on signal quality). But don't know about HDMI.

Is there an equiv to a coax splitter for HDMI? Does signal suffer? or is it digital so it's OK if we are within that max length above?

Or is there an A/b box to split hdmi?

And is there a way to get the remote's signal from the 2nd TV down to the first? (that gadget that you clip the lightsource in front of the DVR box's infra red receiver?

is all of this going to cost more than the $12 / month?  or do you have some other ideas?

Hi experts,

I have noticed on a couple cars that have a USB input for the car stereo it exhibited the following issue.

I have a SanDisk 128GB USB flash drive. Looking at the file system the flash drive is set to FAT32.

I have 454 albums in mp3 format stored on the flash drive.

So in the flash drive there are 454 folders. One for each album and each folder contains the mp3s of that album.

When I copied these 454 folders onto the flash drive i did it all at once so I selected all 454 folders and clicked copy and then pasted them onto the flash drive using windows explorer.

So that transferred them onto my flash drive.

So then when I plug the usb flash drive into in the USB input on my vehicles stereo.
My stereo reads and plays them fine but I noticed that it only recognizing 96 albums because when I go through the selection on the stereo's screen it only lists 96 albums.
This stereo is the stock stereo that came with the vehicle.

But in my previous car I purchased a JVC after market dvd stereo and that stereo did the same.
When I plugged the usb flash drive it didn't recognize all the albums on the flash drive either.

Am I missing something?
Anyone ever have this issue? Do USB inputs in car stereos have a certain limitation?
I have tried several different usb flash drives but they do the same.

I have a recorded lecture which I recorded on my mobile using smart recorder android app. This is a .wav file of around 180 mb.
There are following issues with it -
1) some places the sound volume is low.
2) There is disturbance in sound and although loud but one cannot properly understand what is the person speaking.

please suggest some tools which can remove these defects.
Main issue is to remove the disturbance so that one can hear words clearly.

I am helping out a client that is surrounded by the 2.4ghz wireless band frequency. We added a Ubiquiti LR AP PRO wireless Access Point to the network. Her computers are now running great on wireless on 5ghz; however, Sonos only works on 2.4ghz. Is there anything I can do besides run them wired? There are so many 2.4ghz networks that Sonos will only connect from about 20 feet away no further.

I want to take a tv commercial and extract sound from it. I want to keep the "sound" of the words, i.e. the voice but I want to "blur" the words. I wonder if anyone knows how I might do this with something like audacity? I don't want to loose the tones of the voice, but I don't want the words to sound like words or even language, more just like music.
Thank you!

I have some audio from a radio talk show. my intention is that it's not high fidelity / could even be mono.  I want to get the smallest file size without too much degredation considering it's just people talking.

I am using streaming audio recorder and chose MP3 for the output.

For example, 1 file I have is 2meg and 1 min 30 seconds.  the properties of the file says bitrate 173 bps.  Not sure if that's high / low fidelity.

I'd like to have the smallest size file for audio.... and also, using audio to video converter websites, I get an mp4 that's 2MB also (static picture or black screen would be fine).

What are some things I should know / do to get the smallest files for spoken word audio?

thanks!

I have the following
- 2009 Nission Cube with the factory stereo (.8" AUX in)
- Bluetooth to .8" converter
- IPhone with 16 Gb RAM, 5Gb data plan,  Plex Media Server client,
- Home-based Plex media server running Centos with 500 Gb  Music.
- Windows 10 Virtual Machine on Server running  Itunes with all media loaded in library.

Currently, I stream all my music from my home server to my iphone while on the road.
I use the bluetooth / .08" adaptor to get the music from the phone to the stereo.

Downsides
- Sucks my data plan
- Plex interface doesn't lend itself to voice control.

I've considered ITunes match, downside is it still sucks my data plan.

I like the idea of a car computer. I'm an IT engineer and have lots of old laptops, etc.

Goal is to have 500 Gb of media local to my car and some sort of voice activated control to select it.

I'm willing to invest in hardware and software.

- A car receivers that have a USB external storage and some sort of  IOS interface
- Running MAC OS on a laptop with itunes /all media and some sort of hook into itunes on the iphone with audio coming out of either the Ios laptop or the phone?

Hi
I am getting a Jupiter - 80 keyboard for my new band, but there are quite a few places to buy it from.
The one I have now has broken buttons, and is still under warranty.
I've sent for a mail-it-back-and-get-a-refund, but I have to buy a new one somewhere else.

I can find a new one for $2499 on
Full Compass
Is there a better option somewhere else?

Thanks

Hi

My new Jupiter-80 is okay, as a Synth keyboard.

I am used to my clavinova's perfect piano setting.
I can only get hints of my Jupiter's piano setting. It seems to always work in halves, upper and lower.
How do I make it ALL piano, no synth?

Thanks

Hi

I have ordered a Jupiter 80 keyboard for my band.

It seems very advanced.

Does anyone know if it can do chord recognition, and appropriate bass note addition? I may have missed it in the sheet.

Thanks

Hi

My band is swinging up into high speed

And I don't want to get anything but the best,

for the road and the studio

My percussionist recommended this Roland Jupiter model as the thing for us to get, it says complete

She played drums for the chili Peppers in one show. It is not bulky or hard to fit in a truck

I suspect this offer below is the best, because shopzilla shows those additional items (stools, etc) at like $500  ??

Is this the best price and choice? another site has it better?
The Roland set is HERE

Thanks

I need to download all audio files found on a specific web page which I have been given access to.
Currently each file is shown as a highlighted link, and you have to save as, and then save the target..
There are several files, however I want to save them all at once.
Is this possible?

Hi

I'd like to form a new band, but I don't want to put up notices in places. Before, I've met one person at a time, but with modern social networking, must I meet more than one at a time?

Should I use meetup.com ? how? it's only for specific times and activities. I can't handle more than one at a time, I don't think?
Should I accept a ton of musicians? Maybe, I think the Beatles met due to a posting, and they were the four that showed up?

Thanks

Hi

I'm looking to create a band, again.
I doubt musicians look at craigslist to find other people? Only paid gigs, I will be using Cakewalk or Final Cut to make home recordings.

What do you think is the best way to post for other musicians? I m 39 years old.
Last time I did this, I was 19 and I posted at the university boards, and I'm not sure what to do now! I don't know many people here, yet.
This is not fully intended to be anything big, like before. That would be unrealistic. The Voice, American Idol and Americas Got Talent have messed up a lot of music, IMO.

Thanks

I have a PC sending audio to an amp via a 3.5mm/phono cable. The amp then amps the audio and sends it to a subwoofer via normal speaker cable - and +

Works great.

I wanted to introduce a low pass filter after the amp, before the SW, and I've hooked it up as in the image below. Even though the filter is getting power (LED works), the SW isn't getting any audio.

I have a feeling I am doing this completely wrong, and was wondering if anyone had any advice to get it working? Happy to buy more cables but if I need to by more equipment, unless it is under £5 I will just abandon the project.

Thanks for any and all advice

Could you help to identify the next piece of instrumental music?

So I know how to RIP CDs to a drive in MP3 or WAV format but what I'm looking for is actually a way to transfer the entire CD to the drive, so that there is no loss in audio quality at all.

Programs like Roxio ask for a writable CD to "burn" in a DVD/RW drive.  Is there a way to "redirect" them to a thumb drive?

Thanks

I have an electric ukelele and I need to find an adapter that will allow me to connect it up to a PC so I can record/mix it.

It uses a 1/8 " headphone type of out.
