Digital Cameras / Camcorders

A digital camera or digicam is a camera that encodes digital images and videos digitally and stores them for later reproduction. Most cameras sold today are digital, and digital cameras are incorporated into many devices ranging from PDAs and mobile phones (called camera phones) to vehicles. Digital and film cameras share an optical system, typically using a lens with a variable diaphragm to focus light onto an image pickup device.  Digital cameras can display images on a screen immediately after being recorded, and store and delete images from memory. Many digital cameras can also record moving videos with sound. Some digital cameras can crop and stitch pictures and perform other elementary image editing.

My OS is win 10 pro 64 bit and one of my online sites I visit to make a purchase wants my DL ID, and further they want to activate my web camera so that they could take a picture of myself, my identity.  This site is for bitcoins.  The present small camera is a Logitech HD 720P.  The site says that the picture is not that good enough to compare with the  jpeg license I uploaded.  Thus the need to purchase a better one that would do the job, with the cost bearing in mind. Thank u for your suggestions. Regards

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 (but soon to upgrade to Note 8). When I go travelling I always take with me my trusty Nikon D7100 digital SLR with 18-85mm lens. Smartphones can take great photos these days but are still lacking due to their lens.

Conversely, my Nikon camera, although a very good camera, is heavy, cumbersome, and I also need to bring the case and charger.

Further, I can't backup to cloud, edit, or share (email, Whatsapp) my pictures directly from the SLR camera. For this I'd need to bring a laptop with me, whereas with my phone I can do these three things from the phone. Also my phone can GPS-tag the photos, whilst to do this on my Nikon I'd need to buy a separate GPS unit to attach it to the camera, thereby making it even more cumbersome.

Viewing recently taken photos on a smartphone screen is much more pleasurable, not to mention the pinch-to-zoom. Also, my phone these days has more free storage space than my camera has in total.

So, to my question... Is there a way that I can have the best of both worlds? Does there exist some sort of 'cradle', where I can attach my current Nikon lenses, and a shoulder strap, and then just slot in the phone to turn it into a fully functional DSLR camera?

As for connection between the phone and the 'thing', I initially thought WiFi, but I think that this would cause a Osh with the viewfinder, so probably USB-C would be best. Plus, with a cable you could potentially or a battery inside the thing which could be used to charge …

The place I park in office is about 200-300m from where I seat:
I can't see the car as blocked by walls.

My car is parked along the street which can get vandalised (scratched, etc):
I wanted to be able to view my car from my office PC/laptop (or at least from
my iphone) remotely : the street is a straight one & if I sit in the car, I could see
if someone is approaching (even >100m away).

Anyone has any solution to this?  I don't want a recorded video as it's too late
& the vandal would have taken place.  I wanted a camera/device which will make
it like I'm viewing from within the car (but I'm viewing from my office seat).

Feel free to show me any eBay/Amazon links of the items you recommend.
Not something more than US$300 ideally.

I have an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 6: perhaps one of them can be mounted in
the car (with a low-cost 4G data plan of US$20/month for 20GB data)?  If it's
something that don't need any data plan, will be better but I'm Ok to get one

Coding: VB.net 2013 / Windows 7 64-bit
Camera: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 (Full HD 1080p video calling (up to 1920 x 1080 pixels))

I have an app that I want to simply trigger the camera to take a still, high quality photo and store the image with a file name I will provide automatically.   I would also like to display an image on the screen so they know the product being photographed is lined up under the camera.

All the code I find online seems to be a variation of this code:

While this code does take a picture, the quality is worse than a cheap kids camera.    So for some reason it does not use the full capability of the camera to take a quality picture.  I want to be able to zoom in on the picture to make out the writing.

Is there some way in the code I can force the camera to take a higher quality picture?

If not, is there some low cost VB.net add-in that could be used to acheive this?

Is there a low cost non-webcam digital camera that can be mounted and can connect via UBS and be controlled by vb.net to take HQ photos?

I have attached the picture I took.   In the middle of the picture there is a tan cut out of a magazine article.  When I zoom in on the photo it is all pixelated and you cannot make out any words.

Thanks

So we have about 12 cameras at our company that records all day every day.The 1TB drive in the Platinum dvr gets full super fast and we are unable to retreive old recordings from a couple of months back. So i was looking at some unlimited cloud backup solutions like like Crashplan and Backblaze. Now Crashplan is good as it allows me to not only backup all files but also all mapped network drives. is there a way for me to access the DVR hdd from my file server and somehow map it to my server so the backup software can upload all the recordings? Any alternatives? Any advice would be appreciated:)

Hi,

I would like advice or a recommendation for security cameras that would have good color detail at night.
My cameras show fuzzy images in the shadows. :)

What would I look at to pick a very good color detail day and night?
Zoom in ability?
180 degree turn ability and ? tilt 45 degrees?

I am thinking of getting a couple more cameras to see how I like them at my house.
Then may add to my rental house.

Should I look at anything else that I missed?

Thank you,
BillC

A friend has intelli-studio on his PC, Windows 10
When he USB-connect his camera, all (new) pictures are automatically transfer from it to his pictures directory.
The problem is that intelli-studio creates one directory per day (on the camera, this is not the case)
I could not find the place where to configure this so that all pictures go inside one single (sub)directory

Hello Friends,

Can anyone pls advice if any such VMS software is available (Free/paid) which can be used in front-end to monitor all CCTV cameras.

I mean to ask such Unify VMS software for different NVR & IP Cameras.

Currently I am using HKVISION cameras with KHVISION NVR & Siqura camera with DIVA VMS application.

But now I need to have a common window (App-for windows & Mobile) where-in I could club all cameras & can monitor from single window.

Regrets for long explanation.

Looking forwards to have your experts advice.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

How can you use  you embedded cameras to make a 3D model? How many would it take to make a 3D model of a 2,000 square ft. house? Is there a certain kind of camera you need to do it or could you use any multiple cameras? If there is a certain type of camera you need then how expensive are they?

hi,

can someone recommend a security camera for my home to install?

my next door neighbour happened to see somebody trying to break into their house around about 5 ocklock in the morning. They could see a dark figure but not the face as it is still a little bit dark. Now they are planning to install a security camera.

I told them, i will supply and install it but looking for advice on the best one and affordable for home used.

We live in the pacific and order most of the time from the following supplier in New Zealand:

www.pbtech.co.nz

Can someone recommend the best one used for home?

Greetings Experts,

I have a Panasonic WJ-NV300 DVR with several cameras.  I'm having a problem loading the GUI on a few computers.

Have 5 computers in total, 2 work, 3 do not.  All settings are the same in Internet settings.  Flash and Java are up to date.

The video guy, said when he originally logged onto the gui there was a download from the DVR, I'm not getting that message on the ones that are not working.

Also, the one that works has WebMedia Control from Panasonic, in the add-ons.. the others do not.  I'm guessing this is the problem.

I can't seem to find a manual download.

Directx 11 is installed

Anyone know how to get this add on?  I've seen a bunch of dead ends on the Interweb..

Thanks,

Kacey

Hello. I am a private individual, not a business, and I am not a computer professional.  I am in possession of a digital camera that was found in a hotel  room in Las Vegas.  There are MANY photos on this camera and I assume that the owner would want it back.  The hotel has been of no help in providing any information that would help identify the owner.  There are many photos of various people on the camera and so I am thinking that maybe a facial recognition program or some kind of internet photo search program might help identify someone in these pictures which could lead to the owner.  This is a one-off project just to try to identify the owner of the camera and so I do not want to spend a ton of money on software or applications.  Is there any free facial recognition software I could use?  Are there any companies who specialize in this kind of stuff?  Any ideas / suggestions?  Thank You.
