Digital Cameras / Camcorders

A digital camera or digicam is a camera that encodes digital images and videos digitally and stores them for later reproduction. Most cameras sold today are digital, and digital cameras are incorporated into many devices ranging from PDAs and mobile phones (called camera phones) to vehicles. Digital and film cameras share an optical system, typically using a lens with a variable diaphragm to focus light onto an image pickup device.  Digital cameras can display images on a screen immediately after being recorded, and store and delete images from memory. Many digital cameras can also record moving videos with sound. Some digital cameras can crop and stitch pictures and perform other elementary image editing.

Need to trigger shutter on a very long selfie-stick.

https://www.ebay.com/i/401522995718?rt=nc&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3D65c24b07180e46b7b372542a5b2d94ba%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D7%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D112605178987%26itm%3D401522995718

I have a Canon PowerShot 12X and hope to get a Canon SX720.

I want a really long selfie-stick I can use to dramatically change my perspective while making photos.

But I do not want to be bothered with setting a self-timer or recording it as a video, which I then need to watch to find that perfect shot, etc.

I need a trigger that will fire the shutter.

What technologies do this?

Can  I use my old camera for this? If I buy a Canon SX720, does this have the ability for this?

If Bluetooth i the trick, does this mean I need a BT trigger? Does this support Canon PowerShot 12X? Canon SX720?

Thanks

Never used a Selfie-stick

I want to take picture from a teller perspective and hope to use a Selfie-stick to give me a could of extra feet. But I see no way to trigger the shutter.

What am I missing??

Need to get best memory card (best value) for Canon SX720

I need to store lots of pictures for photo shoots but am not sure of what memory card to choose. Prices are all over the place.

This one hold 256MG:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SanDisk-256GB-Ultra-Micro-SD-SDXC-100MB-s-Class-10-UHS-I-Mobile-Memory-Card/222950331995?hash=item33e8e0165b

This one is half the space but a third of the cost:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SanDisk-Ultra-128GB-90mpso-micro-sd-card/123126409851?epid=219694083&hash=item1caae7ea7b:g:K7EAAOSwWsxa9Zfm

I take dozens of pictures per photo shoot, but download them to my PC after each shoot. I feel like I will never have a problem, even with a 32BG memory card.

Are there speed considerations?

Thanks

Plotting Photos on a Map

I have pictures from an iPhone6, iPhone 7 and a Canon PowerShot.

I know the iPhone 7 photos have the geo coding embedded. But I need to verify the Canon Power Shot is working for geo coding.

And if not, I may buy a new camera for myself.

And how do I view a folder of image and plot them all on a map?

Thanks

Need Free Satellite Photos of New York City

I found Google Earth displays perfectly the images I need to use. But if I used that image in a presentation, I could be sued by Google.

So, I would never do that, clearly.

Are there other ways to get Satellite Photos of New York City which are public domain? Or that have some easy to accept license such as putting a copyright notice at the bottom?

I heard some French company had some which were free?

Can you please give me any Satellite Photos websites I can check their terms??

Thanks.

Need to shrink the size of all images files in a folder

I have a folder with high res. pictures from my Canon and iPhone. They are fine to keep, since I need the detail as my research continues long after I take the pictures. But as email attachments, they are too large.

I need to shrink them both in their physical size an the resolution.

By "physical size' I mean when I open them in Finder, the Preview size can be reduced.

How can i best do this mass reduction on a Mac?

Thanks

We bought a low priced digital camera. We did not know that it can not be used to capture images unless you have an SD memory card up to 8GB. The location where the SD card is inserted into the camera is a rather wide one inch.

https://www.ebay.com/p/Vivitar-ViviCam-8018-8-1MP-Digital-Camera-Silver/100112085

Would any SD card work for this Vivitar 8018?

PhotoShop CC - dropping a second image fails

I got one image pasted onto a larger image, but the new image has a flashing dashed line moving around it. So, when I copy the second image, I have no way to select it.

I want to get the first image to stay in that spot and enable me to paste in another image.

What am I missing?

Using Adobe PhotoShop CC to drop in images

I can do a few things with PhotoShop, but forget how to insert another smaller image atop of the underlying image.

What steps are there?

Trouble connecting to Wifi from Xerox Phaser 6022

Wifi Status: No Reception

In the following PDF...
http://download.support.xerox.com/pub/docs/6022/userdocs/any-os/en_GB/p6022_user_guide_en-us.pdf

I am told:
To check the status of your wireless connection, print the
Configuration Page and check the status for Link Quality.

• If Link Quality lists as No Reception, check your router and
modem to ensure that they are transmitting a signal.
I have the backing plugged in and working. But need help getting it to search for Wireless networks.

I use that network all day every day. Does this relate to WPS?

I am stuck.

I did install the necessary drive from Xerox and restarted my machine. But (on a Mac) when I try and Add a printer, I do not see the Xerox as an option. In fact, I see nothing in that list.

I do see a button WPS, but no buttons evoke a change to the display. I am not sure if my router has WPS. Could that be the problem?

Placing a video of me on the side of a presentation.

I have seen this done with great effect. The person leading a presentation has slide after slide and can appear in the corner or center, at will. That person is the speaker and the one leading the pitch.

Please explain how this works?

I always thought you'd need a green screen behind you to make that work, but apparently not.

I would use PowerPoint on a Mac.

Thanks

I bought a security camera system like this one:

https://www.lorextechnology.com/HD-DVR-Security-system/HD-security-camera-system-with-full-1080p-recording-resolution/LHV2000-8ch-Series-1-p#downloadsSection

mine comes with less cameras than channels.

Looking to get cheap cameras that will work with this for the extra, unused channels. Willing to give up on resolution. Just looking for low cost.

these cameras have a BNC and power connector.  I've been using RJ45 to BNC converters that work fine.

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6879

Just don't know what to look for in specs to be sure the cameras can work with this system.

would something like this work? If you google the lorex camera model number it talks of pal / ntsc.. this doesn't mention that it will / won't work with NTSC...

Thanks!

What is rough cost per page to print with this printer:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-Color-Laser-Printer-All-in-One-Scanner-Copier-Fax-Inkjet-Copy-Office/253394005408?epid=219521922&hash=item3aff75ada0:g:JK4AAOSwJtdaFYJD

For color

and for Black and white?

I just paid up to $1.79 pp at a copy shop I will not mention and NEED another solution.

I need a portable color laser and might as well make it all-in-one.

Any better options?

Thanks.

Getting the most out of my iPhone 7 camera

I go on a site seeing trip and expect to take photos from big open spaces, with distant famous buildings. I no longer have a camera that zooms with a great lens.

But I have an iPhone 7

How do I max out the resolution of the camera? I assume the pics will be vary large, but could prove very interesting when I zoom in with my image editor on my Mac.

Suggestions?

Thanks

I am running Windows 10.  I have a "Hammacher Schlemmer film and slide digital converter" that I got with my Windows XP computer.  For some reason the device doesn't work with my Windows 10 computer (I tried updating the drivers).  All my other Windows XP-era devices work on my newer computer.  Is there a way to get this working again?

Thanks,

Phil

Need a pocket camera with maximum zoom capabilities.

And I need to buy it used on Ebay...

I love a small Canon camera that withdraws the lens 100% and is easy to fit in my pocket. I had one, but sold it to raise some money:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/322985538647?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649

Now I have a job and want something similar.

What can you recommend on "Buy it Now" on Ebay which might even be better?

I was moderately happy with the camera, but wanted it to zoom even better. Is it possible I cold have adjusted the setting and got better close-ups?

Or is there a better technology that wold do better on close-ups?

I want pocket sized and do not want any camera that needs to go around my neck.

Thanks.

I can not change the fill color on an object (with internals) in Adobe Illustrator CC. What am I forgetting to do? I attached a PDF file. You will see an Owl with yellow feet and yellow nose. The rest of the body looks green. I just want to change the green to yellow. Later; I will make it all black for a film positive. Thank you.

I need to create some videos using my Logitech Webcam, but I don't know what software to use.  Can you recommend a program that will enable me to record videos from my computer's webcam?  Thanks,  Phil

The place I park in office is about 200-300m from where I seat:
I can't see the car as blocked by walls.

My car is parked along the street which can get vandalised (scratched, etc):
I wanted to be able to view my car from my office PC/laptop (or at least from
my iphone) remotely : the street is a straight one & if I sit in the car, I could see
if someone is approaching (even >100m away).

Anyone has any solution to this?  I don't want a recorded video as it's too late
& the vandal would have taken place.  I wanted a camera/device which will make
it like I'm viewing from within the car (but I'm viewing from my office seat).

Feel free to show me any eBay/Amazon links of the items you recommend.
Not something more than US$300 ideally.

I have an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 6: perhaps one of them can be mounted in
the car (with a low-cost 4G data plan of US$20/month for 20GB data)?  If it's
something that don't need any data plan, will be better but I'm Ok to get one

I have two Photo Library files and need to purge them. That's because i have all the pictures I want on disk as a JPG or other format. These are duplicates.

When I plug in my phone or camera. it imports to the library. I export the ones I want. So they are duplicate!

How do I purge these files?

I worry about simply deleting them, unless this is the correct step.

Thanks.

and I need it to highlight duplicates and make it easy to purge duplicates.

I have 48GB clogging my disk with pictures and think I have many duplicates.  Know many images exist in both the Photo Gallery AND on my disk. And often there are multiple copies in both places.

What kind of automation is there I can use to save disk space and not spend time going through each picture. I really do not have the time, but I want:

1) grouping by person to be an option, and will train the system later, when I have time
2) remove from disk when safely stored in this program

Can I use Photo Gallery on the Mac for this?

Shall I consider the Google program, the name of which I forget?

Thanks.
