Digital Cameras / Camcorders

A digital camera or digicam is a camera that encodes digital images and videos digitally and stores them for later reproduction. Most cameras sold today are digital, and digital cameras are incorporated into many devices ranging from PDAs and mobile phones (called camera phones) to vehicles. Digital and film cameras share an optical system, typically using a lens with a variable diaphragm to focus light onto an image pickup device.  Digital cameras can display images on a screen immediately after being recorded, and store and delete images from memory. Many digital cameras can also record moving videos with sound. Some digital cameras can crop and stitch pictures and perform other elementary image editing.

I have a bunch of JPG's and need to reduce their file sizes significantly. What tool can do this for me?

I also have PNG files which I need to convert into small JPG files. Is there a tool for each?

Thanks

Word (Mac) 2017:

I find the PDF I create is huge and suspect not all images are JPG.

How can I convert them the easiest? One problem, Word has lots of images tools but the filename and file type seem to have been lost on import.

Thanks.

I am starting to send lots of faxes as part of my marketing plan. I work from home and send for free with my all-in-one, with downsides:

- While the send it taking place, my landline is busy and I can not make calls. They are free to send but costing me a fortune in opportunity lost.
- I must create a cover page using Word, print it, then throw it away. (wastes effort. time and laser toner)

Is there a way for me to get my PC to send faxes over the Internet? Would this require a distinct piece of hardware?

Are there outside services that offer free end services? (I figured I ask, but do not know why they would be free)

I could get a dedicated fax line to keep fax and phone distinct, which would help. The monthly fee for a new line is not free, but at least has a fixed value, not based on the number of faxes I sent.

Suggestions?

I'm trying to allow us to be able to view the security cameras from outside of my LAN, the trouble is I can't get Dyn's ddns service to cooperate. I've port forwarded the cameras already but still can't access them. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

I have a 4 in one...

HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M127fw

I want to use my single land-line as a dual use phone/fax, where the beep of an incoming fax triggers the HP to receive the fax. How do I do this?

Sending faxes is not issue.

With this arrangement, I can fax send/receive for free, which is the goal. But, if I am out of town, I need to redirect the faxes so I can read them, remotely.

In this case, and can not get at my fax machine, I am okay using an outside fax service, where I may pay a large amount of money per page.

How can I configure this? I use Verizon, but am at a loss at how to redirect the fax calls, on demand.

Thanks.

A client has a separate construction site in the next state in a trailer. Both locations have broadband service.  They were asking about "video conferencing" between their meeting room for 10 people with 1 or 2 people at this remote site.

This would be once in a while, maybe 2 times a month for an hour at a time. At the main office they do have a 50" TV on the wall.

I looked on line for a documenting a spectrum of options but came up empty. That at least is what I envision is available?

I could see the low end being that they could use a laptop's webcam fed to the TV on the wall. Maybe spin the laptop sitting in the center of the table around to see the person speaking. And at the construction site, they could use a laptop with camera.

And the upper end could have several cameras that can be turned and zoomed, mics around the room and better quality speakers.

Does anyone have advice on options, prices and how to help them decide what they need and want?

Thank you.

We have a user that uses her iPhone to record her short travel routes.  The problem she wants to improve is keeping the iPhone recording while doing other task on the mobile (for example quick tasks like anwering/making calls, searching google, using siri, etc.).

In other words, is there an apps for iPhone for recording videos and that also can stay in the background?  (that is that if the user needs to do another task, the recording doesn't stop including receiving/making calls).

Is the word "pixelated" ?

In the early days of computing, when image resolution was very bad, image were drawn in little squares. And i need the name of that kind of drawing.

Is is pixelated? Or is it another word?

I used the PhotoShop slice tool to make 40 images from the 8X5 matrix, out of one image. I will use these images, side by side, and display them as puzzle pieces making up the one large image.

PhotoShop create GIF files. Why did it create GIF's?

I have made a few animated GIF's and understand that multiple image can fit into on GIF.

Curious why PhotoShop made this a GIF.

Thanks

I have the online manual, but can not read the buttons described in it.

http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/2/0300023632/01/pssx620hs-cu-en.pdf

For example, page 74 seems to discuss deleting images. But look at the button in the manual. Even with reading glasses I can not identify the button on the phone.

Please explain how to delete all images but with clear simple instructions.

Thanks,

I have a Sony Handycam HDR CX240 camcorder.

This camera will be used to record video outside for a few hours.

A good few people would like to watch this video footage live while it is being recorded.

Facebook Live seems to be a good streaming service for this task.

How would I stream this video footage through Facebook Live through use of my Sony Handycam HDR CX240 camcorder?

Thanks,
Robbie

Hi
To test my media website, I'd like to use music video mp4's and mp3's. ( as many as possible)
Maybe film students keep them somewhere, to compare? They make tons. K-12 Schoolers?

I can't use No Doubt, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Federline  and Beastie Boys, New Kids, apparently.

Google only finds converters and streams. Aren't they more trouble than it's worth?

What would you say?

Thanks

I've been doing a lot of travelling and road tripping with the family and I always find it hard and time consuming to gather all photos from cameras and iphones into one comfortable experience in front of the television. It's usually a mess to import photos from camera, and my wife, me and daughter's iphone...they mess up the dates and mix up photos and videos. Then later on viewing on my television through AppleTV(gen4) is slow and not a good experience.

I'm using Mac and iphone and has a Sony camera and a Sony television and AppleTV (gen4).

I was thinking of a cloud service or piece of software where I can basically dump all photos and videos from all my devices and it will make sure to present it all nicely on my TV so we can all sit comfortable and enjoy our adventures :-)

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ300 camera.   I want to have it automatically download images to my computer, which is on a domain.   There does not seem any way to change from WORKGROUP to DOMAIN.   How can I set it up to automatically download images to a shared folder on my computer?

Hi, at my work we need to install a camera outside, and have it project to a fixed indoor LCD or even a small TV. The reason we need it is to quickly and easily monitor when we have a pick up /  delivery truck waiting at our gate.

I asked our IT department to find us a solution and they installed an “IP camera” that we have to log in with our phone or computer to view. However it is very inconvenient because every time we hear a truck drive by we have to grab our cell phone and log into the app and wait 10-15 seconds for the connection to be made.  Or we have to go to a website on a computer, and only once we are on the website can we see the cameras video. But It defeats the purpose of the camera, since it takes so long. I would like to have a dedicated monitor to view the camera feed at all times. It does not have to have a recording function, we just need to be able to have it accessible  quickly and easily when we hear a truck drive by, to check if the truck is waiting for us or not.

So can anyone suggest a model that has an LCD that is maybe 20” or so? Or we could even  mount a 20” tv on the wall and have it so it is always showing the live feed.  But if someone can suggest a system it would be much appreciated.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my question, but I'll start here...

I am looking for a software application that will allow me to view the video being shot through my DSLR camera. I have been using an application called - digiCamContol. Although it is free and I don't want to complain about software that is free, I would like to see if there are other applications that work in a slightly different manner.

I produce video training tutorials for the vertical market and would like to control my cameras (I use two cameras) via my laptop and not on the cameras themselves.

If anyone can offer any advice where I can find a good DSLR Camera control software, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Fulano

VIDEO: THE CONCERTO CLOUD FOR HEALTHCARE

Modern healthcare requires a modern cloud. View this brief video to understand how the Concerto Cloud for Healthcare can help your organization.

I have an SD card that I need to get the pictures off of.  Something seems to have happened to the disk and it is asking me if I want to format it...and that doing so will cause me to lose all data.  Any help?  I would really like access to the contents of that disk!!!

Part 1) I have tons of images from my research, where I have the same image in many different folders, often using the same filename. These do not involve a human face.

Part 2) I have lots of redundant photos of family and friends on disk and also imported into the "Photos" app on my MacBook.
None involve a human face.

I need a solution to help reduce redundant photos on my disk, since they are starting to clog my disk.

What options to I have?

If I used Picassa, does that only match like photos when there is a human face? Or is it pattern based, so I can use it to match on pictures of buildings also?

Is there an app I can use on the Mac, which I can keep private? I do not relish handing over 100% of my research and family photos to Big Brother in the Sky.

Thanks

I am looking for advice as to what software and camera(s) can be used to create an image on a PC screen of a chair (for example).
The image on the screen should be able to be rotated in real time by operation of a slider control or mouse as if the
chair were on a turn-table and the turn-table was being rotated. The image would reveal a  view from every angle of rotation.
I imagine that a 3D camera would be needed and that a minimum of 3 "pictures" would need to be taken, the pictures then somehow would be "stitched" together and viewed with a viewer.
I am a Windows C++ application programmer with little or no experience and a very modest budget for this  kind of software, hardware or terminology and would appreciate some general information as to what Windows software or hardware is needed.
I am not seeking information on Game programming as such although I imagine there is some relevant information to be gained from that topic area.

An editor is using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 to edit my video but does not know how to se the default image for the video.

When he text message me the video, I see it displayed the first frame of the video, ad it looks fine. When I copy the video and past eo my desktop, it's another story.

It shows the image which was the first frame on the video a week ago. I told him there was a way to set the default image frame of the MP4.

Is that true? Can't I specify how the MP4 looks when sitting on my desktop?

And if so, ow is this done with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017?

Thanks.
