Document Imaging

Document imaging is an information technology category for systems capable of replicating documents commonly used in business. Document imaging systems can take many forms including microfilm, on demand printers, facsimile machines, copiers, multifunction printers, document scanners, computer output microfilm (COM) and archive writers. Document imaging is a form of enterprise content management, built around the need to manage and secure the escalating volume of electronic documents (spreadsheets, word-processing documents, PDFs, e-mails) created in organizations.

when I am viewing images in a word document or pictures folder as an example and I stop in the middle of the page after clicking on an image  the square that is the reference point in the scroll bar does not remain where it was left off in the middle rather it goes to the top. How do I fix this and why does it happen ?

Does some other expert know how to export a workbook as a PDF file but keep the workbook hyperlinks working ?

Only external hyperlinks (e.g. 'http://www.google.co.uk') seem to work.

I have seen a number of articles on the web (such as using defined names as targets rather than cells) but none seem to work.

Alternatively is there any way to convert the 'cell address' hyperlink targets in the workbook to the 'pdf version of that address' so that if you have an index worksheet pointing to other sheets in that workbook so that when exported to PDF the hyperlinks in the index sheet will still jump to the relevant page in the PDF ?

I set up a new PC for a client yesterday and she was very disappointed that her Nuance PaperPort software was nowhere to be found.

I could find no such installation CD from her previous 8-year-old PC.  She says that it was installed on her 5-year-old Brother multifunction printer.  She can't locate the installation CD for the printer but is certain it was installed as part of the Brother install.  The full download for her printer was installed yesterday and it did not include any 3rd party software.

Does anyone recall if old Brother installations (from say 5 to 8 years ago) tended to include PaperPort?  If not, anyone recall who used to include a free version bundled with their product?

I had this question after viewing How To Split-Rename-Move a Batch of PDF Files Based on Contents of the Files.

I'm missing the code snippet. Why is it temporarily removed? Or am I doing something wrong? I am very interested to learn Autohotkey and this topic is very exciting.

Thank you!

Dear experts,
Before starting to build a solution from scratch, I wanted to ask experts feedback.

My problem is that I am overwhelmed by incoming snail mail. These are invoices, reminders, second reminders, belif letters, ...etc.  It happens to me to pay several times the same reminder beacuse I get demoralised looking back to search in tons of letters whether this has been paid or not. I guess I am not the only one with this problematic.

So, my dream idea is to organise functionality documents like this
a. Scan document;
b. Index document;
c. Insert ideally this document into some database which allows to;
d. Run SQL-like or simple language query about this document for instance. If I find string "VAT Number, ..etc", then it is an invoice from provider X ;
e. Enrich each document by running queries around its content and define who is his sendor, what type of document it is, what is total amunt due, is it first correspondance yes or no about this particular service;
f. Anyway, make these dump incoming mails into some searchabe documents that can be structured in a structured database, so I can build an efficient workflow around them;
g. Once these files are searchable, I can even come back 2 years, 3 years later and identify them, organise them through simple commands like SQL commands;

Does any solution exist for these or anything near ( I read document driven  databases, ..etc), but not sure. How would you proceed to levarage on existing solutions ?

Hello experts,

I'm looking for a website that provides a huge number of free stock images that are taken recently. All the free tools that I know are only providing old images or even if they are recently taken they are not that great.

Any suggestion will be appreciated :)

Thanks.

Hello,

We have a proprietary system that only accepts TIFF images that our users access to view images in our system.

Some of the files that come in are PDFs (sometimes hundreds of pages)

Does a program or method exist that can do mass conversion of a PDF to a TIFF file?

It must keep them in order.

Please let me know, thank you!

My application  is written in vb6  running against Sqlserver and works in an hospital environment.

Each Client has a customer Id and invoices can be generated  for each client when

visiting the hospital.

Invoice prepared is based on hand written  prescriptions by the doctor .

I need to be able to scan this hand written document and save it with a particular

Client Record.

My problem is not how to scan BUT how to give the scanned a document an ID

which can be saved with this  client record  .

Also I need to be able to review these saved client scanned document

I will be grateful if anyone can  point to me appropriate reading materials for this exercise

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

            We have recently purchased a Canon All In On Printer Image Runner Advance unit that I wish to use for scanning multiple documents and saving them onto a USB flash drive.  Seeing that this printer is new with advanced features, I am assuming it has a USB port for saving scanned images and documents on the fly.  Given this objective, what would be the required steps?

             To help isolate the Canon Image Runner Advance that we have at work, I am including the following numbers:  Canon - F190400    No. QVF02501.  Canon Staple Finisher - R1 F280750, and IC: 498D-F680210.  I am sorry but I never could see a model number on any of the exterior areas of this printer.  Hopefully, the numbers given will be sufficient to help track down this printer.

              I look forward to hearing back from everyone.

             Thank you

             George

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

          I am interested in scanning multiple text documents from my printer (HP DeskJet 2543) to my Acer laptop running Windows 10 and merge each scanned document into a single paper or file to be edited within Microsoft Word.  HP Printer Assistant software came with this printer and loaded with the tools needed.

          Any step by steps instructions given in reply to this need will be appreciated.

          Thank you

I did a clean install of Windows 10 (after a previously working Windows 10 upgrade) and when I reinstalled PaperPort 14.5, I started getting the error "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application".

PaperPort starts normally and works OK but the error always pops up after a few seconds and requires closing the error's dialog box. I did not have this error when I was using PaperPort on my upgraded (from Windows 8.1) Windows 10 system.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Stan
