Hi

I recently tried to create a pdf from winword (using Acrobat Destiller). The Word document contains a lot of jpegs (mainly screenshots). The screenshots look perfect in Winword but in Acrobat they look just awful. The text is hardly readable and everything is a bit blurry.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for yout help !

Is it possible to populate the fields of a form-enabled PDF prior to publishing it on the web?  I'd like the end user to be able to click on a link ("click here for your invoice in PDF format").  The link would be to code that grabs a template PDF form, fills it and send it to the user.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

OK,

So I need a way to open an existing PDF, preferably through the Adobe API in VB.  However, is there a way to also invoke a method I read called PDSaveWithPSHeader, but NOT use C++?  Basically, I am looking to add a setpagedevice call somewhere that would allow me to specify a mediatype for regular print out or labels.

Hi,
I installed RedHat 8.0, with this default cups rpm :

   cups-1.1.15-10
   cups-libs-1.1.15-10

Because of last bugs, I downloaded new rpms :

   cups-1.1.17-0.2.i386.rpm
   cups-libs-1.1.17-0.2.i386.rpm

But, how can I upgrade it?

I tried

   rpm -Fvh cups-libs*.rpm

And I got this error:

warning: cups-libs-1.1.17-0.2.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID
db42a60e
error: Failed dependencies:
        cups-libs = 1.1.15 is needed by (installed) cups-1.1.15-10

And if I tried

   rpm -Fvh cups-1*.rpm

I got this error:

warning: cups-1.1.17-0.2.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID
db42a60e
error: Failed dependencies:
        cups-libs = 1.1.17 is needed by cups-1.1.17-0.2

Please help how can I upgrade those rpm ?

Thanks

I'm using the DOS applications "DataEase 4.53" as a database. In DataEase it is possible to direct output on printer or on file. Printers specifications (i.e. control strings)can be defined for every printer you need. It is possible to obtain a printout in PDF format? A simple way could be to define a new printer (called PDFWriter) in Dataease, but you should have the relevant control strings. Are there available ? Are there others better methods?

We are developing a software for Blind Schools which needs to extract text ( only text) from a PDF file. I have found a hell lot of third party tools but then it comes with a price. Our program is for free distribution amongst the Blind Schools of a state.

Is there any solution, pl. help....

Having a problem making a PDF from an illustrator 8.0.1 document. It converts to postscript just fine, but when the pdf rips through distiller, it leaves an error log which says PDF not made. I know there is an art element provided by a client(a photoshop eps) that seems to be the cause of the problem. the client claims the art is giving us a hard time because it was created in Illustrator 10, but I'm not buying it.

Seems like the file is too complex....too many gradients maybe? In any case, when that particular EPS is deleted, the file PDFs fine.

My question is: is there a chance that a file created in Illy 10 would give me problems in an Illy 8 file? We haven't made the switch to Illustrator 10 yet, and I'd rather not do it just to please one client out of 50.
