Document Imaging

Document imaging is an information technology category for systems capable of replicating documents commonly used in business. Document imaging systems can take many forms including microfilm, on demand printers, facsimile machines, copiers, multifunction printers, document scanners, computer output microfilm (COM) and archive writers. Document imaging is a form of enterprise content management, built around the need to manage and secure the escalating volume of electronic documents (spreadsheets, word-processing documents, PDFs, e-mails) created in organizations.

Is there a way to merge multiple documents to print to 'Microsoft XPS Document Writer' or 'CutePDF Writer' using VB.NET?

I would like to try this method because even if I use a wait for process to complete, with the code attached, another print job could easily slip in-between.  The two printer methods listed above are currently on all the computers that will run this program.

I am trying to print a list of files including .docx and .pdf...

the problem that I having is that when I go to print to the printer the order is not as expected.  I want the order to print in the order of the enclosure list, which when I debug, the order is correct. Just not going to the print que correctly.  I do not want to install a 3rd party .dll

Please help!!!!

enclosureList = [1]"C:\..\..\wordfile.docx"
                            [2]"C:\..\..\pdfFile_1.pdf"
                            [3]"C:\..\..\pdfFile_2.pdf"
                             ...
                            [11]"C:\..\..\pdfFile_10.pdf"
For x As Integer = 0 To enclosureList.Count - 1
                Dim psInfo As New ProcessStartInfo

                With psInfo
                    .UseShellExecute = True
                    .Verb = "print"
                    .FileName = enclosureList(x)
                    .WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden
                    Process.Start(psInfo)
                End With
 Next

I just deployed new MFPs on my network.  Our scan to folder path was \\hostname\share\scanned documents.  When this was done the 'scanned documents folder replicated itself and now none of the users are able to see files.  I, as a domain admin, can.  Unable to figure out how, and why, the directory duplicated itself.

A client of mine is using Toshiba's Re-Rite Software on an old server with a Toshiba Copier/Fax/Scanner.  The Toshiba has a template that will a user can use to scan a document, and the it places it in a set of folders on the server for file conversion to a word document and Re-Rite will grab the file convert it to word and then email it to the user based on what folder the Toshiba template put the file in.

The client upgraded their server and now needs to upgrade the Re-Rite software. I was looking for comparable software that might do what Re-Rite does above as this client only uses one feature and Re-Rite is more than they need.

Greetings wise-wizards of EE:

I'm helping an attorney friend who is switching from paper to paperless record keeping, and needs a high-speed scanner, in addition to his standard, multi-function printer.

He is looking for a scanner that can scan 100+ pages per minute, something like the Xerox Documate series, which are fairly common... except for a feature he really needs: multi-PC network readiness. Though he has no preference on the actual manufacturer, the difficulty in finding the right model is that he needs a unit that is network ready or wireless for MULTIPLE computers at the same time (four PCs, to be exact). I have called several manufacturers, and have found many that can network to a single PC, but not to multiple PCs at once. I will be setting it up, and very much wish to avoid connecting a print-server device to a non-networking model, as to simplify the setup and troubleshooting for the future; I would much rather have a model that has multi-machine networking capability built in.

Any manufacturer/model suggestions would be very welcome indeed. He is willing to pay from $1,500-$2,000 for a unit with the above features.

Many thanks in advance,

Zovoth

I have a client who has many jpg images in many folders. All folders are sub-folders of one main folder.
For every folder, I want to create a PDF file of all the images in that folder. I want the PDF file to be small so I'd like every image to be resized down to 240 pixels wide. I'd like to have multiple images on each page so they are easy to browse and I need the image file name to be shown below each image.
I need to be able to run a script periodically (via task scheduler) to automatically recreate the PDF if any image files have been added to, deleted from or changed in any folder.
Is there any software or combination of programs which I can achieve this with? This needs to be fully automated so it can happen without human intervention.

Never dealt with this before.  The user already has a Signature password and jpeg files with black and blue signatures.  And also a digital signature file.
This is for Actobat X Pro.  I need to make sure this user be able to sign PDF docs and no changes can be made after its signed.

Can someone help me here how to achieve this?
Thanks!

Are there any free tools that would let me edit text in an image. For instance, in the attached image, I need to change toc_generic_document to plw_doc.

Is there any tool that would allow me to do this?

Client is considering getting the scanner but would like to know thoughts of other users.

The client will scan lots of 8.5x11 and 17x11 to PDF and needs to search the text of those PDFs later.

1. What's the highest resolution?
2. Have you used USB 2.0 or SCSI? Does it make a difference speedwise?
3. General thoughts on scanner performance.

How to set an icon of a button?
For example, how to set the icon of a button named 0015 to "c:\images\dummy.jpg"?
I might need to change the button to "Icon only" prior to that.

I have a client with a Kyocera FS-1028MFC, and scanning is just fine with the unit except that there seems to be no way to scan multiple pages into a single document, either via the autofeeder or the platen.

The software being used is Windows 7 Fax and Scan.  I was not able to find customized scanning software on the manufacturers site.

The destination document type choices being presented include various picture formats, but not PDF, which I have a feeling is involved in the problem.

Does anyone have any guidance as to how to enable multi-page scanning in this situation?

Thanks!

Experts,
I am searching for easy way to split a multipage pdf into individual files. For example, I have a 25 page pdf file, I need a pdf file for each page.

Please advise.

Hi,

I have a massive set of project folders in a directory that each contain subfolders with jpg images; the people that took the pictures at the time used high quality settings on the camera which makes these images quite big in size; I run a backup everynight of this directory and the resulting size of the backup is getting huge and takes an eternity to process. The images don't need to be as big as they are...

I was wondering if there was a software that could scan this directory and all subfolders and compress these images to half their size without my intervention or me having to process each folder one by one.

Most software requires you to specify where to save the images, which folder to compress, etc... But I would want the compressed image to replace the uncompressed one...

Anyone know if this is possible?

Thank you

I have a client that has a Dell MFP on a peer to peer network. All of the computers are able to scan from the MFP except 1.
The Paperport software is provided by Dell. When I try to "Select" a scanner by pressing the "Select" button nothing happens.  No errors, no warnings just nothing.

 I have tried:
- Uninstalling then installing the software
- removing then reinstalling the printer
- Uninstalling the software provided by Dell and installing the latest version from Nuance

Computer has a 3.4 i3  Ram 1 TB HDD.

I would welcome any and all suggestions.

Thank you

I have a school that sends out email to the parent body.  Until recently, there were no problems with sending the to gmail and the gmail users were able to view the pictures inline.
But now the gmail users see blanks with in the email and the users cannot load those pictures manually.
I have a gmail account and enabled show pictures and it does not work.
Other email programs I am able to see the pictures.
So what has to be done at the school for that to happen?

Looking at scanning documents directly in a hosted MS Dynamics CRM solution.  I've read that SharePoint integration can do this, but I was wondering if there is a way to cut out "the middle man" and scan directly into the location where CRM is being hosted?

I am using ghostscript to convert pdf to tiff. I am using v9.04.  I am converting to tiff using -sDevice=tiffg4 with 200 resolution.

But sometimes our pdf has grey background. And the image output is not dithered right. Is there a way to improve grey background.

FYI... tiffg4 produces only black and white image.

Other option is using different output device such as tiffgray. But this adds some photometric tiff tag which I don't want. Is there a way to remove this tag in ghostscript.

See the sample document which is word but I have pdf for my test.
