Document imaging is an information technology category for systems capable of replicating documents commonly used in business. Document imaging systems can take many forms including microfilm, on demand printers, facsimile machines, copiers, multifunction printers, document scanners, computer output microfilm (COM) and archive writers. Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.

I need to send someone a PDF. After scanning a text document and clicking on the document before saving it there is a drop down menu to choose formats. The file formats on the list are:
tif, bmp, pcx, jpg, pct, tga, png, and all files.
This scanner creates files that are quite large as far as pixels and I have to use Irfanview to reduce the size.
There is a Full Auto mode, Home mode and Professional Mode and I have tried all of them and once scanning and looking in the format drop down window I never see PDF as a choice.

Can a Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 use OCR to specifically NAME a file (PDF) as the value found when scanning?  For example, it we have a stack of invoices, all formatted the same with the Invoice Number in the same location, can we scan those and ask ScanSnap to name each individual scan page based on the value of the Invoice Number?  (I.e. Inv123.pdf, Inv456.pdf, Inv789.pdf)

Alternatively, I am more sure that we can make a PDF SEARCHABLE so that we could SEARCH within each document for a given invoice number... (i.e. search ALL PDFs that contain INV456)).  Only problem is, that would be slower than simply eyeing down a list of filenames...

Best way to scan and file similar documents?

Thank you!

What is that called?

What programs can do that for me on a Mac?

Only answer this if you can...but those using this morphed image would certainly need to know the answer. Is that morphed image my property? Anytime I use images I need to certify they are mine or public domain.

Thanks

I plan to use some Wikipedia images in a book which I plan to sell. And I need to be sure I am allowed to use these pictures.

Here are two sample images with different license requirements.

How am I required to annotate them? Can I use these for commercial purposes?

Thanks

- Numerous PDFs in a network folder, or to be pulled into the solution via a network scanner
- Need to read the bar code and extract the 5 pieces of data for indexing. OR, OCR portions of the page with the same data as in the bar code.
- Use this data to store the document for search and retrieval later - methods may vary. Would like documents placed into folders by the date in the bar code.
- Some sort of compression or load into a database is preferred to keep file size down.
- Windows or Linux based
- OpenSource only: I want to get my hands dirty with it.

Any ideas?

I had to reinstall PaperPort 14 but when I try to open it I get an error stating that it has stopped working. How do I eliminate this problem?

Hi,

I am looking for a product to digitally sign documents.

- documents would be in PDF format and then sent to user to approve, they would sign the document to indicate they approve it and then would email it to the next party that needs to review the same document and they would sign it or "sign off" on it and the document would be complete.

- ideally the document could be shared to the user for them to review and sign so that the owner knows it has been approved before sharing it to another dept/user for further approval or completion.

What kind of product would you recommend for this type of workflow?  PDFs are currently used but there is not digital signature in place yet.

Has anyone used "DocuSign Business Pro Edition" ?

Thanks,

This is a one off exercise:

I have 10,000 pdf's in about 500 folders.
The pdf's are called a persons name and have a photo of the person in the pdf.

Example:
johnsmith.pdf has a picture of John Smith !

I want to start at a high level folder and drill down into all lower folders looking for pdf's.

REQUIREMENT: One large PDF containing all the smaller ones.

Also, I need to be able to search the PDF and find the photo of "John Smith" or whoever.

Nuance is offering Paperport Professional 14 for $59.99.  Info still shows no support for W10.  Will your 14.5 upgrade work on this one?

I have a TIFF file that is 9" x 280".  Is there a way using Photoshop (or any other utility) to break this into a multi-page TIFF or pdf file?

This printer will no longer generate a .pdf file from a file scan.

It is connected to a W10 fully updated computer.

It does print documents generated on the W10 computer to which it is connected by WiFi Direct

I'm unable to understand the Brother Canadian website and the methods it suggests.

Experts, please, your suggestions for finding a solution.

I am using Paperport 14.5 and am trying to set it up to a new Epson es-400 scanner.  The paperport scanner setting box does not show the scanner.  When I scan, the Epson Scan 2 windows pop up and requires me to use it.  How do I get paperport to work directly with the scanner?

Hi
I have just changed printer to Epson WF-2750 which has a ADF feeder.

Cannot see how I can have different profiles to use or not use ADF for a scan from my computer.

Although you can change the hints to enable or disable ADF these do not seem to show in the Profile.xml file.

Any suggestions please

Michael

Microsoft Certification Exam 74-409

Veeam® is happy to provide the Microsoft community with a study guide prepared by MVP and MCT, Orin Thomas. This guide will take you through each of the exam objectives, helping you to prepare for and pass the examination.

I started having difficulty with PP14.5+Patch 1 after running CheckPPFolders.exe.  The difficulty came about when scanning documents, the scanning dialog would not pop up to scan the other side (which I've done hundreds of times previously), and that led to running the CheckPPFolders.exe.  Not sure it was the right move at this point.  Now, any time that I want to scan a document, I first select the folder for the scan to go to, which starts the process of UPDATING file 1 of XXX ... something that has never happened until about a week ago.

PaperPort is a useful scanning tool, but the mask that is offered to describe the scan is very limited. Can any fields be added?

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am needing a scanner with an automatic document feeder for home use which supports 2 sided pages.  While I believe this is standard, I would need each page (front and back) scanned and saved as a PDF.  However, scanners with automatically document feeders may not support what I have in mind.

Any shared thoughts and links given in reply to this question will be deeply appreciated.

         Thank you

Does anyone know of a way to increase the font size of PDF so that a 5pt document prints out in 10-12 pt font?  The attached page is 1 page of a 476 page document.

I tried converting it to Word and Excel, but those aren’t viable options when you think of the time it takes to OCR the doc.  Also, the output is horrible and there are so many possible mistakes, it doesn’t bare thinking of it as an option.

I don’t think there’s a way to do it, not even zooming with a copier works.

Hi
My printMusic sheet music notation software prints the final score version to file, but xps files, not .doc
My PC can open them w/o issue, but my Mac says I need a reader. Is there a safe way to convert xps files straight to universally readable format? .doc? pdf ?

Thanks

There's a need every year to review close to 200 docs (IT policies, procedures, etc etc) &
the process requires that they must be reviewed yearly with signoffs.

Is there a better way to do this, so that it has versioning & we can sign off without having
to print out  hardcopies each time (range from 6 to 80 pages) to sign off then scan back
to be filed.  Ideally this electronic way of signing off is acceptable by audits.

Ability to search for strings of text within the docs is useful to have to
