An email client, email reader or more formally mail user agent (MUA) is a computer program in the category of groupware environments used to access and manage a user's email. A web application that provides message management, composition, and reception functions may internally act as an email client; as a whole, it is commonly referred to as webmail. Likewise, email client may be referred to a piece of computer hardware or software whose primary or most visible role is to work as an email client. Email clients can also have other systems, like calendars, notes and contact managers.

my customer send a bank details change notification to a supplier. by the time that email reached the inbox of the supplier the content and the bank details have been changed.
subsequently the supplier paid the invoice to the wrong bank account
I cant work out how the email could have been intercepted, the pdf attachment with the bank detail notification changed and send to the supplier.
I changed all relevant passwords for email, accounts and so on, i also scanned the desktop for any malware or virus and none have been found.
further testing revealed that the supplier email was unable to receive any emails for my customer, they just never arrived.
I'm at a loss to understand how this is possible and how to prevent in the future. This is now the second time this happened to different customer.

Recover Exchange Mailbox
Manual method to export Exchange Mailbox to MBOX file format is not available. So, to transfer Exchange database to MBOX from EDB files in a reliable manner, use Exchange Export Tool. It also offers to selectively move EDB items like Emails, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, etc. to MBOX.

Usually, I am able to work smoothly in Outlook, but since from past few days I am not able to do so. Already tried some the manual steps which are not so successful.

Hi I am having an issue with an exchange mailbox. The sent items folder is missing in outlook; however the user can see the folder on their phone. I have tried resetting the view settings in outlook, and I have also tried recreating his outlook profile. Another tool that I have used was the MFCMAPI to find out if it was just hidden. The folder is missing when in this tool also.

Good evening EE team -

Through testing and after confirming with a contact at Microsoft, I found out that it's no longer possible to open a delegated Contacts folder. I have clients who use OWA exclusively and they're asking for work-around on this.

I'm interested to hear if anyone's worked out a way to open a Contacts folder through another means without using a desktop client app (eg Outlook, Apple Contacts); also interested in any recommendations on alternative Contacts apps (perhaps Google Mail?).

Thanks in advance -

I have some blockage on my iCloud email

I do not understand why, but certain emails do not show up on my iCloud account.

I logged into iCloud.com and saw no error or sign it was  not working. But I do know that certain emails have been lost. Such as, my WordPress site has an outbound email with a PDF attached. I pulled my hair out with the email not showing up until I used my trusty GMail.

Other things I fear are also blocked.

In my ThunderBird (Mac) for the iCloud email, there is no SPAM folder. So, perhaps it is being flagged somewhere as SPAM, but not visible either on ThunderBird or online at iCloud.com

Suggestions?

Thanks

Hi ,

A client of mine appears to have had his Office365 Exchange mailbox hacked but i need to work out how and if that is just the extent.
At 1254 UK time today 25+ emails were sent out to all contacts in the address book, The 2000+ recipients were evenly distributed in BCC field across the 25 or so phising emails. The details of the phishing email i have attached to this. The user had a fairly complex password and is pretty sure he didnt login to his account using a public pc as far back as he can remember. I have been using Microsoft's Office365 since it's BPOS days almost a decade ago and i have never see an account hacked until today.
All the emails that were sent out , were found in the Deleted Items, almost as if they were trying to be hidden.
I have since changed the password to the mailbox. I have scanned the pc using MalwareBytes but that may not be able to pick up anything. I am trying to look for an answer for my client as to how this phishing email got sent out from within the user's account so any tips on where to do more detective work would be great.

Thanks

How to make signature that will look the same on different email-clients? We use outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016 and mozzila thunderbird. I have tested with thunderbird and Outlook 2016 and have big problems, from display of color to different looking text.   What I found is when I send a colored line (orange) the other email client changes it to gray + when mail is sent from thunderbird formating is gone.. So how to proceed here? I made signature in word 2016 then copy it to outlook and  for thunderbird I tried to open it as .htm file or copy paste the signature from outlook and then inside new mail use save, file and then as html and then choose it as signature.

So any options what should I use do?  I even tryed to use signature as picture but is not a preferable way.

My final goal is to have a signature that will work with all email clients and will be easilly editable for every employee.

Thanks

You can use IMAP or POP3 protocol to configure your Gmail account in MS Outlook. However, after using IMAP account in Outlook for some time, many users want to change their mail settings from IMAP to POP. Today we will discuss how quickly you can change your IMAP configuration to POP3.

What is IMAP?

IMAP stands for Internet Messages Access Protocol. In an IMAP configuration, the email client keeps a copy of the mailbox on the local system without deleting it from the email server. The advantage in this case is that you can access your complete mailbox data through various devices (of course with proper IMAP configuration).

Advantages of IMAP

  • Quick and easy access to emails from different geographical locations.

  • In IMAP, any items deleted from the user system is still available on the server.

What is POP3?

POP3 is an abbreviation of Post Office Protocol version 3.  When your email application is configured with POP, then all your emails are downloaded to your email application. Then emails can (and should) be permanently deleted from the mail server.

Advantages of POP3

  • Your emails are stored on your system hard drive. Each time you configure POP3 on a new device, only the additional emails will be downloaded. This saves time in configuring the email account.
  • In POP, opening and accessing attachments are quick because all the attachments are already downloaded.

Step by step procedure to convert IMAP to POP

To start this process, open MS Outlook and start the below-mentioned steps:

  1. Click on File > Info > Account Settings.

  2. Then click on New to add a new account.

  3. Select Manual set up or additional server types and then click to Next.

  4. Now select POP or IMAP and then click to Next.

  5. Enter your POP details and then click on More Settings.

  6. Then move to the Advanced tab and enter POP and SMTP port numbers and click OK.

Note: Here, you have an option to leave copy of messages on the server for a definite period.

  7. It will take few seconds, and your POP account is successfully added to Outlook.

Steps to remove IMAP account from MS Outlook

After successfully adding your POP account, you can remove your IMAP account from Outlook.

  1. Click on File > Info > Account Settings.

  2. Then select the IMAP account and then click on Remove button, your IMAP account is successfully removed
    .

Migrate IMAP to Cloud

Recently many users are migrating their IMAP email data to cloud emailing platforms like Office 365. This process is easy if you are using a third-party tool for migration.

Kernel for IMAP to Office 365 is a brilliantly developed and designed tool to migrate IMAP account to Office 365, hosted Exchange and on-premises Exchange. With this, you can quickly migrate those mailboxes which are configured with IMAP settings.

You can also migrate single as well as multiple mailboxes from IMAP email servers to Office 365. And this tool allows users to migrate emails to mailboxes, public folders and archive mailboxes in Office 365.

I'm performing an email migration from On-prem exchange to Hosted O365, using skykick for profile creation (I've performed this multiple times)

At time of cutover, the skykick tool creates a new Outlook profile pointing to the new 365 server with their email address and password preconfigured.

Here's my question:
there are about 100 users and MANY of them have customized settings in Outlook that they're very insistent on making sure are present in the new Outlook profile (add in's, signatures, rules, additional columns, reading pane, conversation settings, custom colored flags and categories, etc).

I was playing around with exporting   \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles\  (or just the hives) and trying to import them into the 'newly' created profile.

While this works, it also copies over all of the old username/password (aka account settings) in addition to all the customized settings - which is something we're trying to avoid, as the migration tool has they passwords cached and plops it into the new profile for us).

Has anyone ever come up with a way to export just these user customized settings in the profile? I know that I can export rules, etc, but trying to reduce the total amount of man hours on each machine to mimic every setting AND provide the end user with n outlook profile that's as identical as possible to the original profile.

We have a small business that has two email addresses and an alias set up.

Example

peter@company.com

tom@company.com

Alias

admin@company.com

All emails that reach admin@company.com are automatically sent to peter@company.com - and i can't remember how i set this up.

I have two questions:

01 - Tom now wants to receive all admin@company.com emails too. Can anyone please advise?

02 - Tom also wants to reply from admin@company.com. Can someone also advise on this too please.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a client who is sometimes getting a duplicate when he CC's himself on an email.  We are running Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2016.  It does not happen every time this user CC's himself, it only happens randomly.  There are differences in the header information of the duplicates however, those are included below.

Learn to use the POWER of Mailwasher Pro - Part 2
This is Part-2 of Learning to use the Power of Mailwasher Pro so if you haven't watched Part-1 yet, I urge you to do so before watching this video. Click this link to watch Part-1.

Ok, that out of the way, what we're going to cover here is how to setup additional Email accounts in Mailwasher, along with how to classify what "you" consider to be spam and what you don't. Also, we'll be looking at how we can recover deleted emails, even if you've cleared your Deleted Items folder in Outlook and more.

Remember the old adage of One Man's Rubbish is another Man's Treasure? Well, that's why I dislike Online Spam Filtering services and prefer tools like Mailwasher because it gives me total control - a control that you should have too and in doing so, never having to lose a genuine email again.

Finally, if you found this video helpful, please do click that Thumbs Up button below.

It really helps me out and provides me with positive feedback
.

With that said, let's get on with the show. I hope you enjoy the video(s)

Enjoy!

If you, like me, have a dislike for using Online Subscription anti-spam services, then this video series is for you. I have an inherent dislike of leaving decisions such as what is and what isn't spamming to other people or services for me and insist on being able to make those decisions for myself.

Why?

Because as the old adage goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure. This video series is about a tool that I've been using for over 15 years now and as a result, my Outlook inbox has been 99.99% free of spam for many, many years. Yours can be too and it's easier than you may think!

This Video Tutorial shows how to obtain and install a tool called Mailwasher Pro which in this authors opinion, is one of the best Anti-Spam utilities available on the market. As mentioned previously, I've been using Mailwasher for over 15 years now and can honestly say that my Outlook Inbox is 99.9% free of Spam.

This is a multi-part series that goes into not just installation and use but shows you advanced configuration options to train Mailwasher Pro to know exactly what YOU consider to be spam, rather than rely on online services who make those decisions for you.

I need an application to search through Outlook 2013 and allow me to quickly find and delete email messages with the same address (I can upgrade to a later version of Outlook  if I have to)

There are just too many thousands of messages in this user's mailboxes.  It's on an Exchange Server, hosted by Intermedia.
In order to keep the inbox from being too large, mail has been filed by year and month.  So there are a lot of folders.  Here's a picture of what it looks like
Mail sorted by sub folders
So rather than go through the folders, I would like a helper that would search all the folders at once.
Copying an address into the Outlook Search, and then searching All Outlook Items, takes too long.

Any known third-party utilities?

Thanks.

Questions about Thunderbird (Mac)

Can I Collapse All email accounts? I do this manually, and hate all the clicking...

Also, can I re-arrange the Email accounts?

I do not want to Delete them all, then need to recreate them all, then find I have a New Email account and need to do it all over again.

I want them grouped in some fashion.

Thanks
