An email client, email reader or more formally mail user agent (MUA) is a computer program in the category of groupware environments used to access and manage a user's email. A web application that provides message management, composition, and reception functions may internally act as an email client; as a whole, it is commonly referred to as webmail. Likewise, email client may be referred to a piece of computer hardware or software whose primary or most visible role is to work as an email client. Email clients can also have other systems, like calendars, notes and contact managers.

Dear Team, I just want to confirm these concepts. We are deploying a new Exchange server and in the migration phase. As our understanding, there are 2 options at the moment:

OPT #1. Collect all PST files from users, create new email accounts in a New Exchange server and everyone will have to open their OLD PST file to access the old emails.

OPT #2: Collect all PST files from users, create new email accounts in a New Exchange server and IMPORT their OLD PST files to the Exchange EDB, then everyone can use their accounts to access OLD emails normally.

Am I right to think that:?

1. Open PST files via MS Outlook is just open the file and nothing happens to Exchange EDB database ?

2. Import PST files via Exchange Management Console will import email data from PST file to Exchange EDB database , then increasing its size (by the size of PST files) ?

If we have about 2000 users, which option will be better?

Free Tool: Path Explorer

An intuitive utility to help find the CSS path to UI elements on a webpage. These paths are used frequently in a variety of front-end development and QA automation tasks.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way of saying thank you for being a part of the community.

I've been asked if we could, for two weeks, keep several users from seeing their emails.  They could still use their outlook or smartphone app to send.  But they don't want to see any email in their inbox (Exchange 2016 and Outlook 2016)

However they want to see those emails as soon as they're back.

Is there a rule or something that could make it happened?

Thanks

Am I wrong if understand "Archiving emails " in MS Outlook will reduce the .PST file by reducing its size?

If so, what is the real mechanism behind it actually?

Please help, wiZards. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Experts,

I am in middle of enforcing a PWD for users who want to open our Access system, and the way its being setup is that each user have their own password.

Now I need to have a way of handling in case user forgot their PWD.

Was thinking of having a button "forgot my password", and in that case an email will be sent with their pwd.

In order to ensure no user request someone else's pwd, I would save along with their pwd the IP address of that pc, so at the time user logs into the system and clicks forgot my pwd, if the IP is not the same it will not do anything.

Just having some issues:

1- Users may realize it has to do with which pc they use.
2- Since email will be sent from the local pc they are on, it will remain there on sent items.
3- By Using SendObject it will display the contents of the email and wait for user to click send, in that case user already saw the pwd, so I have not accomplished anything by sending an email, I can for this money popup a msg box..
4- If I use the outlook programming model instead, I will have to add reference to Outlook library and this may cause some issues in our app.

What are my options?

Hi, I have a lot of clients that build of pretty sizeable mailboxes and ask me to archive by year every year or two to decrease their mailbox size.  This is very tedious because their mailbox is at 20 gigs at this point and OUtlook does not respond well if you are moving too data to a new archive PST.  Any tricks of the trade would be appreciated for both IMAP and Exchange mail boxes.

My CEO uses apple mail and has been reaching a max quota limit lately.  Although he most of the time uses webmail to access his email on his computer, he has an iPad and iPhone with an IMAP configuration.

He has asked me to wipe down all the email on his webmail but keep a local copy on his computer so that he can refer to it as needed.

I know in outlook this would be an archive file and get it done with it. But how do I accomplish the same via Mac Mail. Any other solutions?

Thanks

Is there any site or does anyone have any instructions on how to set up correctly?

We want to have the first paragraph in RED and just the PLEASE NOTE: in bold red.

Then how do I set up just to be sent from everyone inside the organization which I have a Distribution group with all employees and also be sent to all outside emails?

Would like it to be attached to all and every email going  out?

Below is my disclaimer:

PLEASE NOTE: Online banking fraud is on the rise. If you receive an e-mail from this office requesting that you wire or otherwise transfer funds, you must confirm the request and any corresponding instructions by telephone with this office before you initiate any transfer.

Note: Please do not send personal information (such as social security numbers, account numbers, and loan numbers) via unsecured e-mail as this may lead to fraud. Please either send via your own secure e-mail or facsimile transmission.

By default outlook will place its pst file when file and folders are redirected to the server on the server. some experts say it is not recommended, outlook pst file should be local. is the thru or false?

I have a client who is subscribed to the grandfathered free mail hosting (i.e. his own domain is hosted via the original free Apps for Business).

Basic question - he's setup as IMAP. His emails are fine, but his contacts are not sync'd with his online webmail access via gmail.com. In other words, when he opens his Contacts in Gmail, his Outlook contacts are not there.

Can anyone offer guidance for a simple method of a) syncing the existing Outlook contacts with Gmail, and b) ensure there is an automatic syncing mechanism for future contacts.

Thanks.
Dave

Hello, I want to export several thousand emails from Windows Live Mail 2012 to Outlook.  I'm trying to use WLM's inbuilt Export to Exchange feature.  There are 1,020 emails in Inbox, and then there are loads of folders within the Inbox, with another 4000, roughly.  The process begins fine, and when reaches email number 684 of the Inbox, out of 1,020 (always the same email), WLM crashes, and the process halted.  I've heard of other people having the same problem as well, and when they try to open the offending email in WLM, they get an error - which suggests corruption in the email.  However I have no idea how they found which email it was that wouldn't open.  How can I tell which email number 684 is, so that I can just delete this and carry on.  I obviously can't open every email in my Inbox.

Any ideas?

I know there are 3rd party paid apps to do the migration for me, but I'd like to see if I can do it this way first.

Thanks,

I have a csv file imported from my Verizon Email account which I want to import to GMail.  Naturally there is no way to get help from Gmail.

Does anyone have an idea?  I've done the hard part which has been extracting the data from a reluctant Verizon!  This should be the easy part.

Thanks,

What is the best method to setup and configure Gmail to work in Outlook 2007 to prevent from launching a web browser and signing in the traditional way? I would also like the possibly to log in using the traditional way by launching a web browser. Is it possible to configure Outlook 2007 to keep the emails from Gmail's server and put it on my personal hard-drive?

I have a group of 25 users on a domain that are using remote desktop access to a common server. They use a program on your server that requires them to use Outlook to send reports, invoices, etc.

The email addresses they use our Gmail hosted, and some of these users have ridiculous PST files.  What is the easiest way to set up a Outlook 2007 or 2010 profile that does not bring in any data from the Gmail servers.  Essentially would just be using them to send  mail

I have two new Windows 10 boxes pre-loaded with Office 2016.  All seemed well during setup until opening Outlook.  On Box A, I can connect user to Exchange with no issue.  On Box B, I get a message that there is no connectivity to Exchange.  I can connect to the account in question via Outlook 2013 and OWA, just not in 2016.

I thought since so early in setup stage, maybe just switch user logins on the boxes and move forward.  Well, the account on Box A works fine on Box B for Outlook, but the account on Box B gets the same connectivity error on Box A.

Sounds like something a setting on Exchange, but nobody has touched it in weeks.

Thoughts?

When a email account in configured in outlook as POP if two devices want to pick up the mail (from gmail server) only one will get it since on the gmail server its flagged as downloaded once the other device will not download it again.

Is there a way to set that more then one device should get all email from the same account without changing to IMAP?

The reason not to use IMAP since one user drags in to her folders in the account in question email from other accounts and with IMAP everything gets pushed back up the the gmail server and full up the limit of space in this email account.

Will the following be a solution, enable IMAP on the gmail server, and on the outlook side on the device files get dragged in the the account in question set up as POP so it will not push up to the gmail server and changes made in outlook, and the other devices set as IMAP?
Or if on the server IMAP is enabled it does matter how its set in outlook.
an other concern once the device that is set as IMAP will download the email it will get flagged as download the device set as POP will not get the emails?

Does Office 365 have the ability to turn off the flow of all internal emails between certain times (i.e. emails from one internal email address to another)? However, I’d still want the ability for employees to send and receive emails to/from external people (customers, partners, board members, etc.) and they would still need to be able to send/receive emergency emails.

The intent would be to queue up all internal emails that are sent between 7 pm to 7 am each weekday and from 7 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday. Then at 7 am, the emails in queue would all be sent. Is this a possibility with Office 365?

I am using gmail and outlook 2010 as a client.

I IMAP was enabled and I disabled it.

Outlook gave me a msg that IMAP is disabled on the server I should enable it.

I removed this email from the list and re created the account as POP and pointed it to the existing outlook file. outlook now could pick up mail, but still get the msg IMAP is disabled on the server I should enable it..

But in outlook when I point on the inbox of this address I get a msg Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. The information store could not be opened. also when I click on properties I get a msg cannot display folder properties the folder may have been deleted or the server where the folder is stored may have been deleted.
