I didn’t use eM Client for long when I decided to swap to Outlook 2016. The reason for the switch is that it started asking for payment to continue some of its services after one month.

The problems I faced when I didn’t pay were:

  • I was not able to send or receive any new emails and was only able to do Off-line work
  • Could only configure two accounts - If I wanted more, then I had to pay
  • Most importantly, I noticed that some of the comments I made on its group were missing

These were enough reasons for me to say goodbye to eM Client permanently. However, that was not the end of my problems. First, my laptop started to give me problems and second, I had to decide which email client I would use next. The former was not much of an issue as Windows 10 was so popular that I had to try it, so I upgraded & got myself a Windows 10 setup. The latter is much more of an issue. When it came to the email client, the choice was not as difficult as I was already aware of Outlook. I decided to use its latest 2016 edition.

Wth me though, the problems never stop. While switching from eM Client to Outlook, I found it only has the option to export the emails in .eml & as luck would have it, Outlook 2016 did not have any option to import eml files. So, basically, I was stranded with around 9000+ eml files & had zero idea of how to import them into Outlook 2016.

My problem was solved when I found SoftSpire EML to PST Converter

Pegasus Mail is a donation ware that is a collaboration of David Harris along with his team members. It is a desktop mail client that offers the option of configuring more than one mail account with single set up. It supports POP3, IMAP, and SMTP protocols for sending and receiving the emails. The best part about this application is it does not make any changes to the Windows registry and thus it is considered as a portable application for the USB drives.

pegasus-mail.pngEvery new mail that arrives in the “New Mail” folder of Pegasus gets saved into CNM file. For every message, this text file with .cnm extension is created under “C:\Program File\PMAIL\Admin”. The CNM filename is unique and thus it is considered as the message ID.

CNM-file.pngThe normal messages (local or by Mercury Mail Transport Server) gets saved with initial letter Y but if the profile is having pop3 access of an account, the message will be saved with initial letter P.

file-location.pngThe data of other system defined folders gets saved into .PMM files along with their indexes in .PMI file format. For example: copyself.pmi, main.pmi etc.

PMM-files.pngExporting Emails into Text Data Files

The messages in Pegasus Mail account can be saved on disk into a text file. Either all mails from the folder or single mail in the folder can be exported into MBOX file. For this, select the messages, right click on it, and choose “Save Messages to Disk…”

The biggest nightmare for any Exchange Server Administrator is to keep the server running without any issue. But the problems often come and they need to be resolved efficiently and timely. Here are important troubleshooting points:

Define the Problem & its Scope

In order to begin troubleshooting in Exchange Server, you need to understand what the problem really is. This will require gathering information by asking questions from end users. After collecting information, the next thing is to find out the scope (how many clients have been affected, what are the common characteristics etc.

Understanding Error Code

Most of when something goes wrong with the Server it returns some error code. There are built-in tools that make Microsoft Exchange truly powerful. Based on which Admin/User can have some idea about the problem.
Check out Different Exchange Error Codes and their Solution: http://www.pcvita.com/blog/category/exchange-server
Here is the list of tools available on Exchange Server:

Use of Tools in Exchange Server for Troubleshooting

I tend toward trying the newest hardware and software.  Thiss sometimes works out to my benefit, and sometimes not.  Because I downloaded and installed Android 5.x on my phone as soon as I was able, I ended up having to reset my phone to factory defaults.  It is now fine, but back then I was devastated.  More recently, I installed Inbox, from Google, instead of the Gmail app - which I deleted.  It seemed fine, except for one minor detail, I no longer received notifications when new mail arrived.

The notifications problem was more generalized than I had at first thought.  Many users were reporting the same problem.  So many that Google has the information on fixing this in their Inbox FAQ, and it was reported all over the web (here and here are just 2 examples).  I started with the Google site looking for a way to receive notifications again.
  • I checked the settings on my phone, yes they were set to allow notifications for the app.
  • I followed the instructions on the Google page to enable notifications in all containers
After trying everything on the Google site, I visited several other sites and tried their suggestions, if they were different.  I was still not getting any notifications.  I would have to start the Inbox application every so often to check if I had received any email.  After about a week of looking I gave up.  Then last week I posted a question

If you are anything like me, you install many apps on your phone and have your life on it, sometimes literally.  When I bought my current phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5 from Verizon, they were only selling the versions with 16 GB internal.  I didn't realize this at the time, or I might have bought a different phone.  Anyway, I now had a phone with only 16 GB of internal memory, which translated to about 10.5 GB usable.  It helped to have a 64gb card, but I have been constantly trying to find space.  I am unused to getting the messages I currently get about not having enough space to install an app I want to try.

At work, the most common complaint we get from iPhone users about email, is that it isn't downloading their mail anymore.  This is an easy fix, because we know what the problem is, these are the users that have set their phones to download ALL emails. The fix is simply deleting their email account and redoing it but changing that setting to a couple of months instead.  I mention this because that is what I ended up doing on my phone. I had been looking in every crevice of the phone to try to get more space.  I finally decided to delete my email account (which I had set to retain all emails), and redo it with the setting to download the last  6 months instead of ALL.  I gained almost 500mb of space.

The next most common complaint is that they are running out of space because they have so many pictures on the phone.  To these people I always recommend Flickr.com. …

Microsoft Outlook provides an easy way to recover permanently deleted items. When you empty the Deleted Items or simply deleted an Outlook data items using shift+Del key then it can be recovered using Registry Key settings.
Caution- Wrong Registry modification should be a serious problem. So, it is highly recommended to backup Registry settings and then make any changes.
Note: The trick will work under the following circumstances only if the Outlook is configured with Exchange Server and the Retention time to keep up the Outlook items should not be lapsed.

Steps to Recover Deleted items from Outlook

Step 1: Check Recover Deleted Items highlighted or not from the Tools Menu.

Screenshot-2.jpgIn case you can recover the deleted items from tool menu then the task is very much easy. But most of the time the 'Recover Deleted Items' button is disabled (or grayed out). So, proceed to Step 2

Step 2: Open Registry Editor using (Start>>Run>>Regedit)

Screenshot-3.jpg

Step 3: Navigate to the following Registry Key

undefined

Screenshot-4.jpg

Step 4: Now create a New DWORD value

Screenshot-5.jpg

Step 5: Enter the name of Newly created DWORD value as “DumpsterAlwaysOn” and set as Dword value data 1 and click on the OK Button.

Screenshot-6.jpg

Step 6: Now close the Registry Editor and Again navigate to Tools>> Recover Deleted Items. [This time it is highlighted and clickable)

Step 7: Now you can easily recover deleted items from Outlook client.

Today, security is a big concern in an organization to prevent sensitive data leakage. In Outlook you can secure your Outlook items (emails, calendars, contacts and other stuff) using various techniques like by marking item as private, or you can put password in an entire personal folder (PST). Addionally, you can use a digital signature and digital certificate to achieve more security. In this article we will see some common practices that you can apply to secure your data in Outlook.

1.Mark Item as Private
When you create items, such as emails, calendars, journals and tasks, you can mark them as private. This practice will secure your item while sharing a folder with others (since the privately marked items don’t show up to other people while sharing).
Read More on How to mark item as Private/Sensitive: https://support.office.com/en-nz/article/Mark-an-email-message-as-important-private-or-sensitive-f480dcea-59a9-48da-b7ed-3b3e0ab27a62

2.Send Secure Encrypted Messages in Outlook
You can encrypt either an individual or all outgoing messages/mails in Outlook. Encryption means changing the plaintext into cyphertext which cannot be intercept in between. For sending a encrypted message in outlook you and the recipient must share Digital ID first and then only you can send or receive an encrypted message. Introduction

Ever had certain email messages or responses that you find yourself using over and over again? Do you use Google's Gmail system? If so, then this article is here to help you save time by teaching you how to create email templates from within Gmail. No more cutting and pasting from past messages or from a saved document; and it only takes a little bit of setup.

Activating the Feature

If you're wondering why you haven't found this type of feature within normal usage of Gmail (like I was), it's because it's not part of the standard Gmail web client. You'll actually need to enable one of the experimental features within Google Labs. Yes, that does mean it could break or vanish at any moment, but then again, Gmail was technically in beta for ages and went pretty well, so I wouldn't be too worried about that.

The feature we'll be using is called "Canned Responses", and activating it is simple.

First, click the gear icon near the upper right of the Gmail screen and select the "Settings" option from the list.
gmail-settings.png
On the Settings page, choose the tab called "Labs".
gmail-settings-screen.png
From there, you can look through the list of labs and you'll probably find it, but an even easier way is to search for the phrase "canned" and it'll filter the list for you. After you've found the Canned Responses feature in the Available Labs list, select the option to Enable it, then click the Save Changes button at the bottom.

In this post, we will have a look on how to install Exchange Server 2013 from command prompt, instead of using the graphical user interface.

Below are the steps that are to be performed to install Exchange Server 2013.

Problem: You created a new custom form in Outlook for your contacts (added fields, deleted fields, changed the layout of fields, whatever) and made it the default form for contacts. The good news is that all new contacts will utilize the new form. The bad news is that all existing contacts will not.

A field in the contact record called Message Class determines which form is used, but the Message Class field cannot be changed manually. The typical approach to solving this problem is to write VBScript code that changes Message Class to the new form for all items in the folder. Examples of this approach may be found in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (How to update existing items in an Outlook folder to use a new custom form) and here at Experts Exchange (Changing Message Class and Journal Values Programmatically). However, many users don't have the skills to deal with VBScript code and add it to Outlook Macros (or are reluctant to do so).

Solution: I had this problem myself, as I wanted to change more than 2,000 contacts to use a new form. I found an excellent, free, out-of-the-box application to do this and wrote this article to share the solution with the Experts Exchange community. There is no VBScript code and no changes to Outlook's Macro handling (in fact, no changes to Outlook at all). You simply run a program (no installation/setup necessary – just run the EXE).

The program is called DocMessageClass (the executable is DocMessageClass.exe
