An email client, email reader or more formally mail user agent (MUA) is a computer program used to access and manage a user's email. A web application that provides message management, composition, and reception functions is sometimes also considered an email client, but more commonly referred to as webmail.

I was just at a conference on Business Email Compromise (BEC).  various ISACs, Symantec, the FBI and the CIA presented.  It was very informative and here are a few things that were mentioned

  • Watch out for fraudulent scams involving IRS returns
  • Put 2FA in place everywhere you can and put a 2 factor policy in place for wire transfers
  • If you believe your GMAIL account may have been compromised, or just wish to keep an eye on it, there is a link on the bottom of the page to see the last 10 logins (although I don't see this in inbox, maybe it is only in gmail).
  • Set your out of Office messages to be internal only - or force this using rules
  • Use something like
  • DMARC

These were just some of the points made, but they were good ones.

Curious about the new outlook.com beta? Here's how to access it.

Just from the screenshot and information provided in the article, it seems like even Microsoft is being influenced by Slack and other communication tools that include GIFs and other fun elements a part of their user experience.

I've recently made the switch to inbox (by Google) that I believe has a much closer to outlook interface than gmail, which is why I like it.
There's the action buttons on each message, reminders, archiving etc. Also runs in its own window, which can also be pinned to the taskbar.
Gmail has none of this (other than be pinned/run as own window)
If it wasn't for Inbox, I'd probably go back to outlook.

I have been using inbox on my gmail account for my android phone and outlook for my desktop.

I do like some of the less cluttered look of inbox but you can't do everything in inbox as you can with gmail.  So now in typical Google fashion, they have 2 products where one is the shiny new thing that is missing features.  At some point, one of of these things is going to go or not get much love.

Google Voice took the back seat to Hangouts, now hangouts has changed and Voice has been updated.  Talk was completely merged to hangouts.  Making a call from gmail used to be via talk which turned into voice, but now making a call from gmail is via hangouts.

Have you ever spent time developing with google products/api's?  Have fun because they tend to sunset and change things quickly.

As many of you know, Marketo access is currently down. The company is expecting to restore connection by noon PDT, according to their statement on Twitter. This outage can have large implications for businesses of all sizes--ourselves included. We'll be keeping the community informed as new updates roll in.

Like most people, I hate spam! - Which is why I love Mailwasher Pro!  I highly recommend it and no, that's not my affiliate link. Though I do have one :)

I've yet to try another anti-spam solution that gives me as much control over my mail and that works as well as this software does in keeping spam out of my Inbox, while never affecting the mail I want to keep.

Here's an example screen grab I just took to show why I'm so fond of it.

Mailwasher Pro Partial Screen Grab
Every action in this screen shot was pre-marked automatically for me without my needing to do a thing. I have the option to over-ride anything with a quick mouse click and the program will remember my preferences for the next time it checks.  I can also safely preview any email in that list using plain Text or HTML format and even shoot off a quick Reply or Forward if I want to, without needing to bring it into Outlook.

When I want to bring in my email, I just hit the big "Wash Mail" button and it deletes all the garbage from my mail server's host, opens (or maximizes) Outlook and I click send/receive in there to bring in only the good stuff that I want to keep.  Spam hasn't made its way into my Outlook for years now.  I also have it installed on both my IPhone and IPad.

When I do want to adjust my additional "self created" filters, the provided filter creation tool is great so the process only takes seconds to do.  If you hate spam as much as I …

Yep.. That's a risk with many web based (or even managed) solutions.  You're always at the mercy of whoever runs the service.

I'm a bit of a control freak at heart, so Mailwasher suits me down to the ground.  Having used it for so long, it's learning history rarely (if ever) gets it wrong for me these days.

Thanks for sharing your experience!
