An embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function within a larger mechanical or electrical system, often with real-time computing constraints. Examples of properties typical of embedded computers when compared with general-purpose ones are low power consumption, small size, rugged operating ranges, and low per-unit cost. Modern embedded systems are often based on microcontrollers; the processor(s) used may be types ranging from general purpose to those specialised in certain class of computations, or even custom designed for the application at hand. A common standard class of dedicated processors is the digital signal processor (DSP).

Hi

We are having an issue with a Surface Pro 4 build.

We are encountering an issue when trying to Prepare the TPM. We have checked that is has been switched on within the BIOS, but it will display the message under the TPM Status 'The TPM is not ready for use'.

The error that appears when clicking on 'Prepare TPM' is:

Turn on the TPM security hardware
Error Code: 0x8028018b

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would like learn the assembly bare-metal programming for ARM systems,  would a Raspberry Pi be a good choice for this?

I would like to be able to write codes that blink the LEDs on the pi, without any operating systems -- just my codes  and making the pi  work like a microcontroller. Is this  easily possible with Raspberry? If the answer is yes, I would appreciate some guidance on what's the bestapproach, as far as cross compilers, platforms, and tools/hardware needed.

Thank you for your comments.

We would like to replace the hard drive installed within the Mac Book Pro shown in the attached screenshot with a Solid State Drive (SSD drive).

Does the Mac Book shown in the attached screenshot support the replacement of its current hard drive with a Solid State Drive?

Hi to all,
I'm considering to buy a refurbished Dell T5500. I see the specs and the native hard disk controller is SATA 3.0 Gb/s.
I want to buy a ssd disk that work on 6.0Gb/s.
For use full 6.0 bandwidth i must buy a controller. I think buy this "IO Crest 2 Port SATA 6Gbps PCIe 2.0 x 1 Non-Raid Controller Card Components SI-PEX40061, Green".
The problem is different interface
Workstation PCI-E
motherboard of dell t5500Controller PCI-E
IO Crest 2 Port SATA 6Gbps PCIe 2.0 x 1 Non-Raid Controller Card Components SI-PEX40061, GreenThe seller say me if i put the controller con PCI-E it works. Can you confirm this?
At what speed work the controller in the workstation PCI-E? 6.0 Gb/s?
Finally i don't understand the name and speed of 2 interfaces, can anyone explain me?
Thank you

Please provide me with the steps on how to setup an address book containing email addresses that I can use to scan to email on a Toshiba eStudio 456 copier. I need to be able to set this up by connecting to the copier using a web browser.

I have the admin logon password and am currently logged into this copier but am unsure on how to set this up.

Please provide me with the instructions on how to do this.

I have an older machine running Vista for Business and it seems to need more memory as for running just a few programs the resources get taken up pretty much all the time so I cannot do as much as I would like with it. I was thinking either a memory boost or complete memory upgrade on this machine. Not the Motherboard at this time. Maybe there is something faster I do not know about or maybe just a few extra gigs might help things. Looking for the best solution without breaking the bank unnecessarily. My motherboard is an DQ965CO
This Intel Board was cheap when I bought it new found out it had problems.
It may be that memory wont help me either so I am open to those suggestions. I just do not know but it would seem that when I am using the CPU at 12% and the Memory is always seems pegged at 51% I am wondering what if anything I can do to stop all the long term freezes and slow downs?
Any great sites to buy memory brands capacity if it is better to stay with the same brands like G Skill etc.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Looks like I only have 4 Gig but up to 8 is available. Correct?

My team is developing an industrial appliance running Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro.  It has a GoToAssist unattended service running which allows a technician to connect to the appliance for remote support.   The problem is that the service generates unwanted pop up messages that show up on the appliance's screen.  Is there any way to block those?

We've tried using the Dialog Filter built into Windows Embedded, but it doesn't block these particular pop ups.  I'm guessing the reason why it doesn't work is that the pop ups don't have the desktop defined as the parent window.

In your opinion

I can name one negative:
a. Windows 7 and no Windows 10 disc included. We can not buy it now in time for the July free upgrade. However a simlar system may be available later in the year at similar prices.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B011POZ086/ref=dra_a_cs_ss_hn_xx_P1200_1000?tag=dradisplay-20&ascsubtag=64e781f5466895f5804edb71e80d30d9_S

It has plenty of ram, hard drive space, i7, etc.
Why would you not buy this system?

I'm looking for a hardware diagnostic program I can use to test the components of a Dell Power Edge T110 server.

This server currently reboots suddenly and without any warning or reason and I would like to find out why.

I need to be able to test the RAM, CPUs, system board, peripheral components, etc.

I have already run some tests within the Server OS and these tests haven't reported any issues so I would like to be able to run such diagnostics outside of the OS

What are some hardware diagnostics programs that can be downloaded and booted up to (before Windows loads) to let me know which component(s) might be failing?

I keep getting Citrix Logon Failed

I have never set one of these up before and the documentation is scarce .
Is there more to this than plugging it in and pointing it to the terminal server ?
It has the correct DNS settings .
I cant seem to find any setup docs for this .

Hi,

I am using the ReadFile WINAPI function to read from a USB port using the USBSER.SYS  driver.

The USBSER.SYS driver allows me to read and write to the USB port as it it were a file on disk. So I open the serial port with a "CreateFile" call as I would create a physical file on disk.

I am, of course, reading and writing to a device and not a real file.

I write to the file with the WriteFile call and read from the file with a  ReadFile call.

My problem is that the ReadFile call works on xp, win7, win 8, win 8.1 but not Windows 10.

Any ideas? Do you see or can you take a guess at any reason why my ReadABuffer method might not work on windows 10? WriteFile works just fine, by the way on Windows 10. I am, by the way, verifying using a USB reader and debugging tool that the traffic I am supposed to be reading is actually being sent from the device  and is visible in the USB trace.

This is old MFC code that was originally developed in Visual Studio 6 (prior to .NET 2001!) and has been upgraded to VS2012. I was written in 2001 (15 years ago!).

This was probably written when some of you were in Kindergarten!  :-) This is  a hard question and I wish I could award more points.

I have an Odroid XU4 with Ubuntu 15.10 installed (flashed from http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=en:xu3_release_linux_ubuntu)

When I use the USB3 ports, I get drop outs and slow speed. The syslog shows a lot of :

Mar 24 17:00:00 odroid kernel: [ 18.967657] [c6] xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.5.auto: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep ddd5fd80

Googling that error shows that others have seen the same issue with xhci, but I cannot see a fix, other than changing the setting XHCI mode in the BIOS from "Smart Auto" to "disabled." Ubuntu will then use EHCI, which works, but at USB2 speed, not USB3.

I have 2 questions:

1-To test that this is in fact the issue, i need to disable XHCI in the odroid bios. How do I do this? I only see the boot/boot.ini file, and there are no XHCI settings.

2- As I will need USB3 speed, how can I get rid of the xhci_drop_endpoint error and get my USB3 devices working at high speed?

Thank you.

mosquitto -c /etc/mosquitto/mosquitto.conf

python app.py

, it is only running when the terminal which is running the ssh is alive.
1. Is there a way to run it on the background no matter the terminal is shutdown or not? (Rebooting is not considered)
2. What if I want it to automatically start when the Pi reboot?

Thanks!

I have a few pcs of extended batteries for X230:
FRU PN 45N1029
ASM PN 45N1028

But my X230 has broken down & can't be used anymore &
I just got a used X201 (in quite good condition) & its battery
is slightly different:
FRU PN 42T4696
ASM PN 42T4697

It's quite a waste that the 2 pcs of X230's batteries can't
fit into the X201: is there anyway to "adapt" them to fit
into the X201 laptop?

Somehow the used battery that comes with the used X201
doesn't last very long : about 2 hrs when browsing the net
so I'm hoping the 2 X230's batteries can be used

How do I communicate (interact) with:

1) microSD card
2) eMMC
3) NAND Flash
4) Most flash memory units

I know we can interact with a microSD card through SDIO or SPI (not recommended).
0
I need a Flash type memory on my system. But my SOC can't directly interface with eMMC so is there a chip that is just like SD interface but it can be integrated on a board?
0
I need to interact/communicate with a NAND Flash or eMMC. But I'm not sure if I have to use SPI or I2C. And if eMMC can even communicated with SPI or I2C.

Also, what is a good alternative for a SD card? I was thinking about using an eMMC (4GB) but I am open to ideas.

Thanks!
