An embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function within a larger mechanical or electrical system, often with real-time computing constraints. Examples of properties typical of embedded computers when compared with general-purpose ones are low power consumption, small size, rugged operating ranges, and low per-unit cost. Modern embedded systems are often based on microcontrollers; the processor(s) used may be types ranging from general purpose to those specialised in certain class of computations, or even custom designed for the application at hand. A common standard class of dedicated processors is the digital signal processor (DSP).

Hello,
need help from experts. I need to build small CNC for school study purpose, and have minor problems with driver.
Current situation of hardware, and software:
- Arduino Uno
- stepper motor EasyDriver v4
- Nema17 stepper motors
- github grbl open source as software
I have already successful hardware, with grbl software. Process works successful.
What I have found that EasyDriver are very unstable, meaning they are overheating, sometimes one of them is not even working (like disconnected at all). I have also already find some public posts that also other users have same problems.

So, what I would like to replace those drivers. Most would like to build own circuit, but do not have a lot of experience with IC chips which would able to connect with Arduino, and to be compatible with GRBL software. Of course I can buy something for 50-100$, but that would not be a student project anymore, due to high cost budget.

I have an older server based on intel S5000PSL motherboard with 6 drives in a RAID 5 array with 2 logical drives.  The RAID system is Intel Embedded RAID II.

For some reason last night during a restart from updates the physical drives 1 through 5 have reset themselves to a "Ready" state.  The first drive is still being shown as online (Part of the array).

If I click on the info for the drives 1 through 5 they still show the logical drives of the original array.

It will not let me force them to "online" because it is showing them all as "Hot Spare".

There does not seem to be any way within the RAID configuration utility go get this RAID array back online.

Is there some bootable utility I can download that will let me look at the individual drives and reset them as being part of the original array?

This is a bit of an emergency so any help much appreciated.

We are in the process of ordering a new server so this is just really really bad timing.

We have backups but they are only partial as we have been having issues with the software.  But decided on getting a new server insead of trying to fix the software issues.

Hardware: HP Proliant DL320 G5, Controller HP SATA embedded, 2x 2TB Hard Disk in RAID1 Array.
Software: Windows Server 2008 R2, Domain Controller, 2 Partition (C and D)

Hi everybody...
In this Server, one disk was corrupt.... I replaced the disk with a new one (2TB WD PURPLE, the old was a "TB Caviar Green) but after reboot the rebuild don't work automatically, i see on Windows a new separate disk (to format). With the boot HP SATA embedded utility i cannot assign the new disk as disk for the existing RAID but only create a new one. Then I cannot rebuild the array.

After new start in Windows Server 2008 R2How can I resolve this problem? I make something wrong?

I'm looking for a PCI Express RAID controller card that I can connect to a PCI Express Generation 3 slot on an Intel S2600CP server system board.

I would like to be able to implement RAID 6.

Attached are the manuals for the Intel S2600CP server board.

This server system board will be running the Server 2012 R2 Datacenter operating system.

Please provide me with a list of manufacturers and models that are fully compatible with the Intel S2600CP server system board.

XBMC Error when running Plex for Home Theatre
Hi,

I have a Windows 7 PC where Plex for home theater software is installed. When I run Plex for home theater, it generates an error - "ERROR: Unable to create GUI. Exiting". I found some article on Google and it said that I need to run "dxdiag.exe" to make sure that Direct X features are ENABLED. However I found out that DirectDraw Acceleration and AGP Texture Acceleration were "Not Available".
So I went to Display Adapter settings/Advanced settings/Troubleshoot tab on the monitor (Viewsonic VA926), but the "Change settings" button is recessed. According to the article, I need to enable those two (listed above) in "Change Settings".

Maybe there is another solutions. But this is what I have found so far.
 Can you help?

I purchased 8 of these RAM DIMMs in 2013:

4 x ($269.99) Kingston 32GB (2 x 16 GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Registered DDR3 1333 Server Memory DR x4 Model KVR13R9D4K2/32

The RAM has worked great until now.

Now I have a single defective RAM DIMM.

How long is the Kingston warranty on this RAM?

What is the process for me to submit an RMA claim to Kingston to get this RAM DIMM replaced?

Hi,

I have a project I need to compile in the new Microchip xc8 Compiler.
I've updated most of it as needed, but I'm having problems converting the following Macro...

#define QGET(__x, __c )            \
    __x ## r++;                    \
    if( __x ## r >= sizeof( __x )) \
    { \
        __x ## r = 0; \
    } \
    __c = __x ##[ __x ## r ];

It errors on the last line:
warning: (137) strange character "[" after ##

Any ideas what the equivalent declaration in xc8 should be?

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

James

Hello Experts - here i provide as much info as I can and hope you guys can advise.
Dell Poweredge 29-- Server with windows 2003
Dell PERC 5/i integrated controller which seems to had 2 disks for OS RAID 0, one disk had failed few weeks ago and theother one has failed today !!
when I look at the configuration it showed one missing and the other one as Foreign. I cleared the FOREIGN, and now it shows one as below under PD MGMT
01:00 Seagate 0 (MB Failed
01:01 Seagate 139392 Ready

the other 4 disks are for data (RAID 5)

Can I break the RAID 0 and install an OS (windows 2003) and see the data till we replace the server?

Hi,

I wanted to know what I need to do to flash a T5530 thin client. I found a link that mentioned loading the software onto a USB stick.

Best Regards,

We are developing a device running Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro and would like to use the USB filter to restrict the ability of using USB flash drives to one specific make and model of drive (there are good reasons for this which I won't go into here).  The problem is that, as everyone knows, companies such as Kingston and Sandisk release new models of drives all the time.  Therefore, if we "paired" a certain make and model flash drive with our device and that drive stopped being manufactured, we couldn't get a drive to work in our existing devices out in the field.

Is there some type of USB thumb drive that will always be manufactured?  Or, is there some other solution?

Hi I recently purchased an HP Pavilion 17-f061us  laptop and I notice that when I talk (to dictate)  the laptop has a very poor ratio of words being detected properly. The room has to be very quiet and even then one out of 5 words is not the correct word that I said.

I also have a  Samsung smartphone and my apple ipad and they have no problem with dictation, even when there is loud sounds in the background.

I was wondering if the reason the HP is so bad picking up words is  because of the mic placement or the quality. I was wondering if I buy a 3.5mm external mic or even a usb mic if that would help the words get translated more successfully? Or is the limitation inside the laptop- in which case an external mic would not fix anything?

Recently I purchased a Dell Optiplex 3020 Mini-Tower. Details are below. I'm planing on installing Windows Server 2012 with a couple Hyper-V virtual machines on the box and make it my inexpensive home server with couple of VMs for development purposes. My hardware guy warned me "Make sure it supports hardware virtualization, otherwise the Hyper-V VM's will be slow." He recommend that I fire up the machine and poke around the BIOS. Is this the best way to make the determination?

OptiPlex 3020 Minitower BTX Base
(1x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC
US English (QWERTY) Dell KB212-B QuietKey USB Keyboard Black

Hi all,
i have a very poor graphic performance with fuijtsu futro A300 RL3 Thinclients within a XenDesktop environment.
Moving a windows (border only) or scrolling within a browser looks like moving blocks.
if i switch to "native graphic" (i think 16 bit colour depth) the scrolling is less bad.

has somewhere experience in this problem?

I have a user who has lost his keys to unlock his Lenovo T420s from the docking station.

None of the other keys we have for these docking stations will unlock the Lenovo laptop from the port replicator.

What methods can we use to remove the Lenovo T420s laptop from the docking station?

Hi experts,

I got a problem with network adapter. It happened after I took out the cmos battery and put it back in.

After I restart the computer, there is a message saying that the network adapter is experiencing  driver - or hardware - related problems.

Then I went to device manager and click on the properties of the network adapter, it says "This device cannot start. (code 10)".

Could it be hardware failure? or something in BIOS make it cannot start. I tried to update driver and saw that "Windows has determined the driver software for you device is up to date."

Then I used a wireless adapter through usb but computer could not install the driver for it. So, it looks like I cannot get internet access.

Please help.
Thanks,
RDB

Hi I have a PIC18F46K22 MCU and I am using the CPP1 PWM to drive a high power mosfet. The problem I have is very quickly the mosfet remains on and will not switch off.
I have connected the MCU CPP1 pin to a microchip Driver TC1412NEOA this is then connected to a IXFH60N50P3 mosfet NPN type and I have placed a diode SDP30S120 to the positive 330V DC and negative to the drain side of the mosfet. I am only drawing approximately 10 amps when the load is applied to the mosfet I think this is a standard way of connecting these components together and in previous designs using only 12V DC I have had no problem driving a mosfet via the same MCU. Dose anyone have any possible suggestions as to what might be wrong and causing the mosfet to fail and remain on.
