We have a local ERP windows software that works with MySQL server, and we want to generate a web application to share with the customers all the information linked to the service (Invoices, tickets, documents, etc)

We are looking for a easy way solution as external cloud service that we can integrate with our MySQL database and have all the services that this kind of customer page need.

My file server is filled with tons of useless files dating back to the 1990's. In an effort to reduce monthly backup and disaster recovery costs I'd like to identify all files with a last access date older than (January1, 2012) and move them to secondary non-production disk storage. I'm running Windows 2008 on both of my file servers. What is the easiest way to locate all of the files that meet the above criteria?

Hi

I am working in CRM 2011 and creating a deployment package to add functions in another org.  When I get the latest version and run the Deployment Package solution (build/release), I get the following error in the output window:

Following components are not listed in root components:

I have never encountered this error and need to know where to start and how to troubleshoot.

We are trying to decide to go with Zoho or Salesforce. Zoho is pennies compared to the estimate from Salesforce. My big question is-- is Zoho adequate enough?

If we go with Zoho, we will be partnering with programmer who will be build some custom modification for us. Other than a few modifications, we do not have very many unique needs.

Any input to experience with either would be great. Thanks!

Hello:

Both credit memos and invoices are already in GP 2013 R2 and posted.  We need an automated way of applying the credit memos to specific invoices, without using the Auto Apply button in Apply Sales Documents.

I'm familiar with creating and using Microsoft Word mail-merge macros in GP.  But, can they be used to automatically apply credit memos to specific invoices within the Apply Sales Documents window?

If not, is there a third-party piece that can accomplish this?

   A very high-level question here and just looking for a little direction to begin with. i have a client with 1000 mailboxes that are migrating to 365 with the support of the Microsoft Fast Track Centre. The issue they have now is how to best ingest the Symantec Enterprise Vault into the 365 environment at a reasonable cost. They have looked at Trans vault &  Quadro but have been quoted a significant cost to support this migration. From my understanding they have around the 7Tb of data that will need to be migrated.

Has any one completed this in the past and what tools/solution have you used?

I have been tasked with creating a PHP website that interacts with a SAP Business One installation. I will need to do things such as:

• Pull inventory and customer data from SAP B1
• Push customer and new order data to SAP B1

The PHP website will be custom written. I have seen some integration tools that work with e-commerce platforms, such as Magento and WooCommerce, but for this project I will be writing the PHP myself.

I do not have any experience with SAP Business One.

I am hoping that SAP Business One has an API or other tools that will allow me to easily interface with it, and push/pull data in a secure manner. The company providing the SAP B1 says I can use "DI API Server".

I obviously need to familiarize myself with all of this, but I am hoping someone with some knowledge of both SAP B1 and PHP can give me a quick overview or some advice on how to proceed. Or at the very least, the assurance that all of this is doable, that writing my own PHP to interface with SAP B1 is not a horrible idea, etc.

We are a small team without an architect. I need to be able to clearly define high level design to certain extent so the developers can start writing code. What is the best approach for me to accomplish this within a short timeframe?  

Please share references that may help learn software architecture/design basics. I have very broad (not deep) technical background including software engineering with basic coding skills.

I am not trying to become an expert architect but want to know basics of 'modern' software architecture and be able to design a small/simple web application  (working prototype) in few weeks. To begin with, we dont plan to design for enterprise but may need to expand later.

I am installing a new V center appliance and have hit a wall.
I have tried to log in and it asked for "old password"  which is just enter.
Then new password I enter, a password that meets the requirement for password security.
It takes that password with out issue. I then when I repeat the password an error stating "Password does not match".
I have reentered this password making sure each key stroke is correct and have gone as far as replacing my keyboard.
 No luck any ideas? I normally don't do the installs so I have limited experience with this.

When you purchase a business application, i.e. ERP app, and chose to install it on servers in your own infrastructure, as opposed a SaaS type offering - I presume you also purchase some degree of application support from the suppliers of the software for incidents/bugs/issues encountered using the software (as opposed issues on the infrastructure/servers which your internal IT engineers would address).... What are these support agreements with the software suppliers typically called? I am struggling to find any examples but I believe its because I don't know the correct terminology. Also is it typical for the support to be a one off payment or is it an annual type agreement whereby you need to renew at set intervals.

In GP 2010, I have seen instances in one of our foreign GP companies that the sales invoice would post in US Dollars.  But, the resulting journal entry would post in British Pounds.

I did some testing in Fabrikam and created a sales transaction in Canadian Dollars.  Upon posting this transaction, the journal entry remained in Canadian Dollars.  I say "remained", because GP does not let you change the data within the "Currency ID" field.

So, how is it possible that--in our production environment--someone posted a journal entry in one currency even though the subledger's currency was different?

Yes, the usual solution is to install SQL client, and I have done this on  many other machines.

This problem is on a Windows 7 and 10 box.
SQL management studio is installed on the 7 machine, I connect to SQL DB's all day.
 ODBC  data sources connect as well.

ntwdblib.dll on both machines but  goldmine login fails
The bbeadmin won't connect either.

What else could be the problem here?

My company used to run its business on an individually programmed AS/400 system for the last 20 years or so. Currently we are in the process of investigating an upgrade of the whole infrastructure. Since it's a wood trading company with a rather unusual corporate mission, the amount of different departments are very limited to just administration, logistics and procurement department. Annual turnover is considerable (>300 Mio €).

There are various solutions covering our demands for the financing/accounting part which would fit off the shelf (e.g. SAP, Navision, BMD). For logistics we also have some options in mind. The issue seems to be procurement. It seems difficult to find something capable of dealing with the special requirements induced by the wood business.

Finally the software should handle the process of:
manage access permissions for users
keep a history of changes to system data
maintain material master data (the big issue, since material schema is attribute based resulting in substantial amount of very specific products which have to be grouped flexibly)
maintain price lists
maintain customer master data
store planed procurement figures
management of customer contracts
provide interfaces for import/export of data
work online and offline (sync when network available)

My company is an application service provider . We have a very large custom product suite spanning dozens of server vm instances . Last count was over 1000 config files that are needed to be managed and reapplied during software updates. What is the best product suite to manage these configuration files. We are also microsoft shop , and would like to get some feedback on system center configuration manager . Would this be ideal for custom config files ? I am open to other solutions as well.

Is anyone out there using (or familiar with) an open source help desk solution or customer support portal?

I want to build a customer support portal with all the usual customer support features, such as these nice to have:
Secure, registered user only access.
Opening news/blog page with most frequent download/kb article stats, etc.
Asset libraries for self-serve documentation, video training, and software updates downloads.
Good site-wide content search. (very important)
KCS format/searchable knowledge base. (very important)
This should include customer feedback capability on KB articles (i.e. "was this helpful? "yes" or "no" - plus comment)
Customer forum.
Typical self-serve customer ticket submission and escalations with customized forms (and different forms available for different types of customers - driven by their SLA agreement levels). (very important)
Rules settings for customers with different service levels agreements.
Universal inbox (all tickets/conversations with customers) are accessible by all agents. This is especially important when an agent is unavailable to continue on an important issue with a client.

Additional considerations:
Scalable customer and team growth (current customer base is 50 and team is 5 support agents) with expected growth to 1000 customers within the next three years.
Support for mobile device viewing.

I am using a mix of Archimate and Visio, neither of which are satisfactory. I want to be find an app that is a cross between these and AutoCAD (for layers) and PowerPoint (for animation/visualisation). A use case might be - there are 9 integrations between System A and System B which at a high level is shown as one line, click on the line and it breaks out into the 9 showing direction of data exchange with  details about what those integrations are etc. So rather like an AutoCAD drawing for a building I could see different layers and level of detail etc. TIA.

I've been in IT a good long while, mostly as a database developer (Oracle and some sql server), now working in Business Objects on the Business Intelligence team.

I'm having a struggle understanding "Business Intelligence" in regards to day to day operations vs. a data warehouse perspective.

We use Business Objects Web Intelligence 3.1, soon to move to BI Suite 4.x, so adding Crystal Reports and Dashboards to our reporting stack. This is an institution of higher learning with a military component (ROTC), but all students are ROTC, so it's all integrated.

Virtually all of our reporting is operations. Grades, military grades (PT scores, evaluations), etc., all reporting is for current students.

Our BO universes simply point to the ERP system, and then universe of course makes it easy for the user to get their (simple) (operational) reports.

But - when I look at definitions of Business Intelligence, mostly what I see is "BI is focused on reporting and analysis of data residing in either enterprise data warehouses and/or data marts"., reference here., pg. 3
- So since we're reporting directly from the ERP system and not a data warehouse, is what we do NOT Business Intelligence ???

If we did have a data warehouse, it would simply be copying over data from the ERP system after 10 years or so, as is (nothing aggregated, it would simply be an archive). So our DW would be populated via ETL once a year - not daily, weekly, or monthly.

When you purchase a software app (business/ERP app) and install it on servers in your own infrastructure, as opposed a SaaS type model, what kinds of contractual SLA's would you typically have with the providers of the application? I was thinking stuff like incident response to faults etc. Can anyone provide a list of key things you need to have in a contract with the providers?

MSCRM 4.0 - When installing CRM, I ran into some issues when using the domain service account.
After a lot of googling, I came across an article that asked to install with "Network Service" and then later switch to using the domain account. I was able to complete the install using "Network Service".
Now I am trying to change from Network Service to a domain account. I changed the identity for MSCRMAsyncService and was able to start it. However when I change the identity of the CRMAppPool, CRM errors out. I enabled trace and found this in the trace file.

We use Enterprise Vaults 10 from Symantec for archive. Normally from Outlook 2010 in Enterprise Vaults tab I have more than search icon. How can I get the others icons back?

I remove, readd Enterprise Vault add-ins from Outlook and it doesn't work.
Reboot Outlook and still the same.

Have a project where the client is using a third party group that is having an issue with the Azure Platform that uses Window Server 2008r2 Datacenter. The issue is the following a selective custom plugin application for navision requires 32bit arch-type, yet last time I checked it was possible to run a 32 bit on a 64 bit. Can someone please tell me is it possible to run 32bit application on a 64bit Windows Server 2008r2 Datacenter?

Hi,
Looking into any application, script, or other way to do a good load test on a Dynamics product (GP, NAV, AX).  

Often when an environment is in staging or testing phase the functionality is tested, and everything is confirmed to be working, but then when deployed to live where instead of the 15-20 users it had on it in test, it now has 150-200 users, we discover other issues when the system is under load.

Looking if anyone has any suggestions of ways to load test a Dynamics product as well as the SQL back end?

So everyone knows what is being asked, I am attempting to rip the .wim file from a windows 10 machine to upload it to my automated install software to distribute out images of windows 10 to client machines.

For context, here is the previous steps to take to rip the .wim file from a syspreped image of Windows 7 for Automated Scripted Installs:

Enter in this command: Imagex /capture C: (yourflashdriveletter):\install.wim "Windows 7 Enterprise" "Custom Updated image" /Flags "Enterprise"

I have yet to get this to work when attempting to do the same with a windows 10 .wim file. As a shot in the dark, I tried to just replace the syntax to match windows 10, but clearly, no luck.

Anyone have any ideas or know of good syntax to use to complete the task?
