We are considering switching from OTRS ticketing system to MS Dynamics CRM.  We only use email to communicate with clients and OTRS does it well. We also like the Queue functionnality and use it for our workflow.

We are now considering MS Dynamics CRM for ticketing to better centralise all client's data.

Question is : Will MS Dynamics CRM be able to replicate those basic OTRS functions (email thread communications, Queue ...)

We have two custom entities in CRM, which I will refer to as Entity 1 and Entity 2, which are related to one another. When a record is created in Entity 2 that is related to an existing record in Entity 1, we would like a radio button field on Entity 1 to be switched from a value of "No" to a value of "Yes." In short, we would like some way to have a field show that there is an existed related record.

Is this possible? if so, how do we go about setting it up?

I have had to reinstall reporting services on our combined SQL 2005 / CRM server.

Have republished reports etc.

Have four custom reports which I have the rdl files for.

When I try and delete the existing reports (which are physically missing), I get

Web service request DeleteItem to Report Server http://zcrm1/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx failed with SoapException. Error: The item '/ORG NAME/4.0/{1beef935-5c41-de11-8682-0014221c6ce2}' cannot be found.

How can I delete an report item when it has actually already been physically deleted?

One of our BES users is not receiving event invites on her blackberry curve. The event invites show up in her Entourage mailbox, but never on the blackberry even if we let the invite sit in the entourage inbox without accepting/rejecting. If she accepts the event invite in entourage then it goes on her entourage calendar as well as her blackberry calendar.

I have tried doing a battery pull. I also tried wiping the phone, recreating her BES account, and then reactivating the phone.

We have just started to look at Microsoft CRM 4.0 for a client and we have a very basic problem

Out of the box the Product entity assumes that the client is selling a "widget", however our client is selling insurance policies. Therefore each "Product" would be a unique price.

We would like to set up the product to reflect this but are cannot seem to amend this entity because it is a "system" entity

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience of this type of issue with the insurance industry?

I may not have explained very clearly but I am unsure where to start

At the risk of sounding dumb, could someone explain the purpose of the email router in Dynamics? Been dabbling with Dynamics for about a year now and have never looked at this component really. Searching google just give me info on setting it up and configuring it. Almost every page I find on the web that attempts to describe it gives the same regurgitated sentence from Microsoft:

"...The E-mail Router is an interface between the Microsoft Dynamics CRM system and an e-mail system..."

Great. That tells me what it is, not what it's for or what it does. Why is the interface needed? What can't I do without it? If I have the Outlook client installed I can still track emails without the router so I am slightly at a loss as to it's purpose.

We have a situation in a client management system that works as follows.  We have multiple clients at multiple sites. At each site we have several of our representatives keeping track of the clients - each client can have notes made by any of these representatives.  In addition these representatives can work at multiple sites.  Finally the sites themselves are grouped into higher entitites e.g. sites A and B are 'Type 1 locations'' let's say and sites 3 and 4 are 'Type 2 locations'' An application was developed for this situation but it was unfortunately based on a simpler model - a variation on the one-to-many relationship model where  representatives only worked at one site though they could work with several clients at that site.  (Sites/locations = business unit in Dynamics parlance.) At this point we need to know whether Dynamics can fully support the many-to-many relationship that is the actual underlying system we have. And if so what tools are there to go from the one-to-many relationship to the many-to-many relationship the application should model.

Hi all ,
I want to use Tally ERP 9 over the VPN . When i try to connect it gives me the following message:

" client system is not directly connected to the same LAN where License server is connectted. License Server cannot serve license for this client"

Could you explain , how to configure Tally ERP 9 over VPN .

I've been working on a migration from Salesforce to CRM4 for the last few days and have run into a problem with contact lookups.  Some background:

- I am not able to use the API to do a migration using a tool like CRMMigrate (due to our Salesforce version), nor does our company want to spend the money on CRMMigrate.
- I've been using the CRM Data Migration Tool, as well as the Advanced Map Editor.
- I've been able to migrate accounts/contacts with appropriate lookups/hooks without problem using the built in Salesforce map BUT,
- We have custom Salesforce forms (Training forms) to migrate which have fields that do lookups on account and contact that I haven't been able to move over.  I can move all data w/o problem except the account/contact lookups.

I've been trying to use the Advanced Map Editor to create the appropriate transforms to accomplish this, but I haven't been able to get it to work properly.  I'm fairly sure I need to use the 'Replace' Transform, but I must be messing something up.  Can anyone give any advice as to how to get this to work?

Any help is appreciated.  If I've forgotten to give any key information please ask.  We're trying to get this moved as soon as possible.  Thanks!

I have two tables that I need to join together.  Each of the two tables has a date and a time column.  How do I combine the date and time columns together so I can join the tables?

Just to illustrate:
Table 1

Table 2

... I need join Table 1 to Table 2 if the date/time is after (1/1/2010 8:00 AM).

In MS Dynamics CRM 4.0, is it possible to setup workflows that send emails to the users who are listed as the Owners of particular records whenever changes are made to records? I know how to use a workflow to send out an email when an update has been made to a record, I just do not know how to specify how to send it to the record owner as opposed to simply a user or email address.

Hi there, i am looking for a CRM package i can link into a private web site/online intranet. We are looking for outside users to input data that the HO can see and add data to as well. Mainly its customer estimate and invoice details that need to be captured then reported on i.e. How many estimates have i outstounding. Basic for of customer database for multiple users to login to and see only their data at the user end

Working with a Customer Relationship Management system that will auto dial from its database... and also allow screen pops to identify incoming callers.

However, it requires a tapi compliant phone.  In a larger office this is usually part of the phone system.

Having a hard time trying to find something that would do the job for a small home based business.

Would welcome any suggestions.

We are currently using report builder and forms builder for all of our custom forms and reports for Oracle applications. We don't use these developer tools for any other custom applications, just as add ons to Oracle Financials and Oracle payroll.  It's was basically done this way so the user didn't have to login to separate systems and we would like to keep it that way. Does anyone know what we would use to replace these developer tools? Will Jdeveloper fit into this picture.

I am writing a query like:

Select
RANK() OVER (PARTITION BY
Identifyperson      
ORDER BY Date) rnk,
identifyPerson,
date
From Table

My hope was that this query syntax would increase by 1 each time the date changes (per person). However, I have many records with the same date.  As a result, this column is increasing by more than one.  

How can I change the syntax of this query to increase only by 1 each time the date changes?    I would prefer to not use a different table (i.e summarize the table etc), but to just change the function in the query.

The raw data of the table looks like:
IdentifyPerson   Date
John         1/1/2001
John         1/1/2001

The results of the query in this question are:

Hi there,

We are working on one of migration project from SAP to Java. For which, we are using JCo to make SAP/RFC calls.

Since our is a vast product with over 75000 users and around 20000 concurrent users (expected), I am interested to know JCo maximum concurrent connections which we can made.

I have tested this through the program and creted connections opened about for 25000 in a for loop, after certain extent (reaching around 300 connections created & Opened) it is giving below error.

Hi,

we have configured a duplicate detection rule for the Account entity that checks for exact match on account name. this rule worked fine but was returning inactive records as duplicates.

so we updated the rule to include 'Status' is exact match.

after re-publishing the rule we have tested by creating a duplicate 'active' record. But on the first save of a duplicate record, the duplicate rule is not being picked up. If the record is saved again the duplicate rule does run and the user is prompted.

what could be going wrong here? we need the rule to fire in the first instance

has any one seen this before?

Ok, I've been beating my head against this for a week..   I walked into a CRM 3.0 onsite system they need upgraded to CRM 4.0 so that they can migrate to hosted CRM 4.0.  I didn't set this system up originally and aside from some speed issues, the system has functioned for them.  It's an SBS 2003 R2 system which appears to have only SQL 2005 installed (which I thought would be good) Their hardware is 5.5 years old but functioning fine.  The ultimate goal here is to get them to hosted CRM 4.0.  

That said, ReportServer has never functioned properly on their system with CRM nor have they ever used it.  In doing the upgrade I get two warnings and one error.

Warning 1)  The stored procedures in the Crm database are not consistent with Crm 3.0 stored procedures.
Warning 2)  Setup detected customizations in your current system that have not been published.
Error 1)  Setup failed to validate the specified Reporting Services Report Server http://xxx/reportserver  Client found response content type of 'text/html' charset = utf-8 but expected 'text/xml'

I can get the reportserver to work, but it breaks crm back and forth...   They have very few customizations, no custom workflows etc  and primarily are interested in their contacts but MUST have their notes.   Security is not an issue on this machine as it's a closed environment currently and will be wiped after the migration.  So if anyone has ideas down and dirty as to how to get this to upgrade and get the data moved to …

I am trying to use the openerp-Medical package for a Hospital.
I am not able to add patients into it.

I opened the openERP client, from there I loged in with admin login/password.

In Menu, I went to "medical"-->clicked patients.-->than I clicked "New patients"
when I fill the ?patient with a name. immeditely one more window opens with "openERP Search:partners"

I am not getting how I can update some patient information.


I see that this opensource package is good..but could not find any documents....
Can you pl let me know how I can add patients?
