Enterprise Software

Enterprise software, also known as enterprise application software (EAS), is computer software used to satisfy the needs of an organization, including businesses, schools, interest-based user groups, clubs, charities, or governments. Services provided by enterprise software are typically business-oriented tools such as online shopping and online payment processing, interactive product catalogue, automated billing systems, security, enterprise content management, IT service management, customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), business intelligence (BI), project management, human resource management (HR), manufacturing and supply chain management, enterprise application integration (EAI), and enterprise forms automation. Enterprise software is often available as a suite of customizable programs that require specialist capabilities.

Heyas,

I have just been hired to replace an access database with a SQL database, reporting to be done in SSRS. The company in question manufactures hydraulics everything from individual components to complete pieces of equipment. They have an issue they would like me to resolve on top of the migration for years they have problems getting their pricing to work correctly. The access database has thousands (9000 approx) of formulas in a pricing/markup table which is called anytime their ERP program needs to be apply pricing/markup costs for a particular components or entire pieces of equipment being manufactured. A BOM (Build of Materials) team is regularly updating price lists for the manufacturing team so price comparison won't work.  The issue is that formulas aren't always applied to correctly (normally they aren't applied when they should) due logic flaws in the legacy ERP system. The company wants to try find a way to flag a formula that perhaps isn't being utilized as often as it should. The legacy system in questions is due for an update when they have cash and the business stomach for it.

My idea:
1. Group every formula to into an individual component and/or pieces of equipment as soundly/tightly as possible. Then every time the formula is called it's counted and stored in a separate table. Then at the end of the month one could tally the amount of components/equipment being manufactured and the amount of formula calls doing a statistical analysis on that.

What I'm looking for is some sort of platform whereby students have their own user area which is password protected but a teacher can easily dump stuff into or collect from it.
I'm looking at this from the perspective of medical forms which will have sensitive information that parents may need to change from time to time- equally a teacher wanting to run a trip just wants to access the relevant forms at the click of a box.
Does anyone know of any software available to students that can do this?

We have deployed a single Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual machine and installed Dynamics CRM 2013 on with all roles enabled.
There is a Citrix Netscaler (load balancer) directing traffic on port 80/443 from the external WAN interface to the server. Everything seems to work just fine. The only exception is.

-iPad and iPhone CRM app loads a white screen after logging into the CRM application.
-Mobile and Web version load just fine externally.
-Outlook Plug-in fails to detect CRM over the specificed url provided.

I have updated to the latest version of 2015 SP1 (Feb 2015 Release) and I am still having the same issue. Any assistance would be appreciated.

To move revenue data between SAP and MS sql I have been using IBM's Cast Iron product. It's
fairly expensive just for the maintenance. I wondered what other folks use for this process and
if they know how it compares price-wise to Cast Iron. In the end setting up the orchestrations
can be fairly involved. So perhaps I just need to stay with what I have. But wanted to ping the
experts. Thanks!

Hi Experts,
Am using SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence. At present am using Report Date as Manual Prompt. here Report Date format as YYYYMMDD , I would like to consider the (today's date -1) has to go as a parameter. we have the Report Date object which has the values till 20161231. But when ever I run the report it has to take only today's date -1 in this format (YYYYMMDD).Back end is MS SQL Server.

I have tried many possibilities, but didn't work.

As the title says, I'm looking for an opensource, ERP system with a built in CRM module that is based on PHP.

I've checked out a few sites and can only find one solution that even comes close (dolibarr.org).

Just looking for some options.

We are a very small business with a home grown business system based on very unique tool set call FilePro and a hodge-podge of tools in excel and access.  We'd like to move to something that is more standard and customizable, and do not see a full-blown out of the box ERP as feasible for us.  The current thought is to find an Access based small business ERP with open source that we can fit to our unique business.  Does anybody know of or have experience with a package or database template like I'm describing?

We are working on upgrading to AX 2012 from AX 4, and are noticing there does not seem to be a way to cascade permissions down a module.  Did Microsoft take this helpful capability away?  Or are we missing something here.

thanks

2 charges hit one vendor and it was the wrong vendor.  I need to move those charges to 2 different vendors. How can I do this.

For example:  V12345 was hit with $100,000. $35000 and $65000 make up the $100,000. These two amounts need to be transferred to V000001 and V000002.

I hear that oracle fusion didn't get industry acceptance as the product has not matured. Also  I hear that people want  to continue using legacy Oracle ERP than fusion. Is there a future of Oracle Fusion

Also I hear that fusion is industry standards based and its mostly written in Java technologies. Very little pl/sql used in it. Is it correct

I've done a lot of custom Oracle ETL, have dabbled in Informatica (and worked beside the Infa team for a long time), and have done a bit of work in SSIS plus worked alongside the team. So I have a good sense of what's going on, I'm just not an expert on those tools.

I also see tons of job postings for Informatica and SSIS.

But are they really needed ? Why isn't custom ETL better? They're all going to be processing flat files, no ? I'm just not seeing the advantage.

I did enough with Informatica and SSIS to know that their are limitations. With Informatica, the guys just shrugged their shoulders. With SSIS, I found limitations even quicker, plus others would just write a stored procedure and then the only thing the SSIS program did was call the stored procedure.

So what is the good points for the ETL tools ?

It's a huge learning curve to be really good with these tools, and so it requires another skill set, tool base, etc., etc. Plus I've also found the ETL developers knew a lot about the tools, but less about Sql and even less about whatever business is at hand.

So what IS the big draw for these tools, and what do the old-timers here say ? The only thing I can think of is that is Windows based and so you don't have to fiddle with Unix, scripts, etc.

Some verticals like Banks and Capital Market firms still develop software in house.

Why Banks and Capital Markets still reinvent the wheel, Given that major ERP vendors like SAP and Oracle already have applications for these market segments which are not only very powerful and complete, but also cheaper on the longer run.

Hi ,

I would like to know how to prepare a data mapping document for ETL process.  In order to prepare data mapping document, one has to know the source  and target database. I have seen data mapping documents prepared in Excel. Are there special tools such as ETL software Informatica  or others that are used in creating data mapping document?. Is it automated or manual effort in creating this?. Please let me know where to start. I might soon be asked to work on this , but not quiet sure of the best approaches. Thanks in advance.
