I have mailbox servers ( exchange 2016) in DAG , there are 2 scripts i need to run:

location of 1st one is under C drive - temp- start-xxx1.ps1 script

the 2nd script is under: E-program files-microsoft-exchangeserver-v15-scripts- xxx2.ps1 script

when i open exchange server, need to open Exchange management shell or powershell script?

can you let me know how to run: once i upon either of these, should i point the prompt to current directory?
Dear experts, I'm using Veeam 9.5 to backup exchange 2016 server. It said that the log was truncated but when I checked on Mail server, they were not. Vssadmin list writers said that the Exchange writer is on Retryable state. Can you kindly suggest?

Many thanks

I have the following powershell script that can disable users by employeeID

Import-Module ActiveDirectory
Import-Csv "C:\Users.csv" | ForEach-Object {
$employeeID = $_."EmployeeID"
Get-ADUser -LDAPFilter "(employeeID=$employeeID)" | Disable-ADAccount
Write-Host "User $employeeID disabled"

but I'm looking to have this script output the into .csv or .txt that the employeeID was disabled or the employeeID wasn't found

Thank you,
I am trying to add to my existing offboarding script the ability to set a mailbox to shared upon offboarding a user.

I tried using:

Set-Mailbox -EmailAddress Iperez@contoso.com -Type Shared

But it keeps giving me this error.

Cannot display the prompt for "Identity" because type "Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.MailboxIdParameter" cannot be

I have already connected to Exchange Online and can run the Set-Mailbox command. Am i missing some module? Or do you know what i am doing wrong?
Hi,  I have an Exchange cert expiring.  I've found articles on how to install and apply it to the services (IIS, SMTP, IMAP, POP).

My question is how do I know that it's actually applied properly?   There are other certs on there so I'm not sure if I should delete the rest?   Are there any commands to check besides get-exchangecertificate?
We just completed a migration for a client from POP3 to Office365.
I cannot 100% say that some accounts were not imap, but everything I touched was POP3.

It was a manual process that required both email servers to be live with transport rules between them.
There was no easy way around this, but only Office 365 exchange is running now.

During the process we would fire up an O365 license for the user
Import their PST into the email account through Outlook
Let it migrate to the cloud
and everything worked fine save for 1 other user that had this issue.
Deleting and recreating their profile solved the problem for that user.

Current issue
One user had a sizable PST of around 11GB, but nothing we had not seen in several other users
It imported to Outlook without error

In Outlook 2016, there is an issue where SOME subfolders not showing any emails.  Even when a brand new email from today is moved to that folder.  Invisible.
All of the emails show up in OWA.

We have deleted and recreated the email profile
Set cache to ALL (changed from 1 year)
Set cache to none
View->view settings = Off.  Do not see any filters set there.
Do not see any rules set up

I have noticed that some of the subfolder properties show
Type: folder containing IMAP items
Where others show Type: folder containing Mail and Post items
However they do not correspond to the problem folders.  It appears to be random which will not sync and which have the IMAP or…
Hi All

We have a strange scenario with 1 user not being able to access their mailbox remotely on a Domain Laptop.

We assigning the correct settings in "OA Proxy Settings" after a Outlook restart we are the settings disappear.

What we have tried so far.

Different user account on Laptop - Works fine, indicating its User specific.
Checked Exchange and AD setting and Non working user and Working user have the same settings.
Moved Non working user to same OU as Working user - no change
Gave Non working user same access rights through firewall - no change
Checked GPO and cannot see any differences.

Its driving me nuts as always its a Director and in this time of troubles he is screaming.

I have searched forums but alas no fix found so far.

Thank you in advance

Hi,  we have Exchange 2010 and 2016 in coexistence.  We added 2 new Exchange 2016 servers and were in the process of configuring them.  They new servers' IPs were not behind the NLB VIP yet.

When some 2016 users opened outlook, they were getting certificate warnings for the new servers.  Why would Outlook connect to those servers even though there are no mailboxes on them and the NLB doesn't point to them?

Is it possible to setup Exchange 2010 - OWA to be accessed off the network?

If so, can you please point me to documentation on that. I've been researching, but falling short.

Currently, OWA in our environment can be accessed when on the network, but curious if this can be setup to be accessed outside of our Network.

Thank you,
1) we have DAG 1 AND DAG 2 in different datacenter A ( DAG1) and datacenter B( DAG2)

there are 2 mailbox servers in each DAG

MX01 MBX02 IN DAG 01  AND MBX3 AND MBX4 IN DAG02, There are other 50 mailbox databses  but all are having same copies like one mentioned.

so just giving an example of DB01,

DB01 which is on MBX01 having AP 1 AND DB01 having AP 2 on MBX02
DB01 which is also on MBX03  having AP 3
DB01 having active preference of 4  on MBX 04( lagged copy)

I wanted to know how reseeding will take place automatically

if something happens to DB01 on mbx1 , will db01 on mbx02 take over on its own provided it is in healthy state?

Also in what situation DB01 with AP 3 and AP 4 come into picture

wont we use powershell like movedatabase command? in what situation we will use the command and when seeding auto will take place?

bit confused
Exchange 2016. I had to renew my SSL certificates, after renewing them, kept getting errors on all the outlook users.
Now I cannot get into EAC or the management shell
IIS seems to also have issues. I am at a loss.
Is it possible to setup a exchange forwarding email from one user to another users mailbox, but have that automatically stop forwarding after an X amount of time?
Dear, my Exchange 2016 server has 1 Database that could not be mounted. I'm restoring pst files for users from Veeam. After that, is it safe to delete that EDB manually?

Many thanks,
Remove missing/dead Exchange Server

Helping a client upgrade their Exchange 2010 server to 2016.
Looks like somewhere in the past they had another Exchange server or one used during a migration that was not completely removed properly.
Get a pop-up when launching Exchange 2010 MMC that the other server (Exchange2) is out of licenses and not reachable.
Also see a secpmd Public Folder DB that is on Exchange2 listed as unknown.

Question I want to confirm/validate the process to remove Exchange2:
CN=Configuration [domain] → CN=Services → CN=Microsoft Exchange → CN=[organization] → CN=Administrative Groups → CN=Servers
Delete CN=Exchange2

CN=Configuration [domain] → CN=Services → CN=Microsoft Exchange → CN=[organization] → CN=Administrative Groups → CN=Databases
Delete  CN=Public Folders   (Making sure to delete the correct Public Folder db!)

Remove Server from Exchange Servers & Trusted Subsystems AD Groups.

Sound correct?  Missing anything?
Anything I need to do in the MMC to remove the pop-ups or will they go away?

This is my first time to ask; Now we are work from home because of coronavirus we were working from home sines three weeks ago,

My issues with the exchange:

- when adding an account from the work network and go home is working fine.

- No one can add the account to outlook from home because of different use networks even use VPN.
this message appears ( An encrypted connection to your mail server is not available)

- Users who work on outlook form home, outlook not stable some time disconnect and sometimes need to close outlook and open again.

our exchange server is 2019 and office 2016 all on-prime
please need help to make everything stable.

Thanks in advance,

I check Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise Edition end of support date from MS site and this is what I found:

Mainstream Support End Date: 4/10/2018

Extended Support End Date: 4/11/2023

What is the difference between both?
My company has following :
3 DAG , each DAG having 14 mailbox servers.
no. of mailboxes per DB: 91
DATABASES COPIES/ DISK: 4- volume on each server will have 4 data base copies.
databases per dag: 294
database copies per server: 84

my question is as follows:

since there are 3 DAG's  spread across 2 data center.

each DAG contains 2 datacenter having 7 mailbox servers in each data center

1)  how may ORIGINAL databases  OR TOTAL COPIES are there altogether counting all the 3 DAG's is it still 294 or times 3
2) lets say if DB failure takes place in one of the DB's on mailbox server or server itself in one of the Data center in DAG01  will ressed  will take place on its own?
3) how will users get diverted to active database?
4) is there any good way to do security or  patching?
I have an exchange 2010 server in a hybrid environment. My GoDaddy SSL cert expired because it could not be auto renewed because the card info changed. When I called them to renew it I had to re-key it and I used the same CSR that was there already when it was previously purchased. I downloaded the zip file the the cert but how to I added it with out a pending request to complete? I tried importing it but it asks for a password which I made up and it took it but I do it does not show up in the management console. i did it a second time and it complained it existed already. What am I missing?
I just joined 1 company where I see 3 DAG eachDAG having 15 member servers and around 300 databases in eachdag

So to confirm there will be 900 databases altogether?

I need to come up with a plan to patch these exchange servers

Can anybody share how to patch in batches and any architecture over iew will suffice

How will I  ressed thr databases in each DAG

Also I need to remove tls 1.0
dependencies from send and receive connector

How should I do
Hey Experts,

I am beginning a migration to O365 from exchange 2010 and was checking the health of mailboxes prior to deploying the hybrid configuration.

I discovered a user's mailbox that had corruption and to cut he story short, I had to delete the mailbox and re-create it (leaving the AD user account intact)

All went well but now I have discovered that internal users get an NDR stating that the user cannot be found.

I have tried:

- to force an update on the OAB then forced outlook on another user's machine to download the OAB,
- removed the entry from the other users NK2 files,

It work fine when I use OWA to send mail to the new mailbox which leads to believe that there's a problem with distribution of the OAB.

Anyone assist me with this?

I'm using a Office 365 account in our phone system to access all users Exchange calendar, but after Microsoft Security Defaults have been enabled, it's no longer working. I'm getting this message:

Hi Experts,

We are trying to configure Hybrid Mode on Exchange 2016 CU15 but keep running into HCW8064 concerning OAuth at the completion of the wizard.

I've read quite a few articles about the error which all seem to refer to Exchange 2013, nothing about 2016. Also been through all the logs but not finding much in there. There are a lot of steps involved in manually configuring OAuth so wanted to avoid that if possible.

Full error reads, "Configure Intra-Organization Connector. HCW8064 The HCW has completed but was unable to perform the oAuth portion of your Hybrid configuration. If you need features that rely on OAuth, you can try running the HCW again or manually configure OAuth using these manual steps."

This is regarding exchange 2016 standard cu13 on a Server 2016 standard VM.   We lost power and I shutdown the exchange server manually.  Next morning I turned it on and one of 4 mailbox DBs corrupted and failed to mount.  I called MS Support and an exchange tech tried to repair the original DB but gave up after a failed hard repair.  We switched to the veeam incremental backup from a few hours before the power went down but it was in dirty shutdown and he could not get it to go either.  He was going to research and discuss with tech lead and then get back to me later that night which did not happen.  I assume it's fallout from the covid lock down in his country.  I have veeam backup and replication 9.5.4 and run full backups on Saturday and incrementals between.  I do not have weekend veeam support so am wondering if anyone has experience restoring a corrupt DB from backup.  I have tried copying the backed up DB folder to another drive  on the exchange server and using eseutil to prepare it for moving to the folder holding the corrupt db.  I've tried directly restoring to the DB folder and overwriting the corrupt.  I've tried with several incremental and full backups.  In each case the restored edb file is in dirty shutdown and will not soft or hard repair.  The 'eseutil /mh' result will show missing logs but in almost every case the logs are there and /ml runs successfully.   However, a soft repair fails with a '-501 log file corrupt' error.  I assume I'm doing something …
*Assistance setting up an Exchange 2019 Server's DNS records as, this is my first Exchange Server deployment
The server is a Windows 2019 Standard system and is a member of a domain.
Exchange 2019 CU5 was successfully installed and so, the proper Send Connector, Accepted Domain and Recipients have been added and this server is an on-premise Exchange Server.
The Exchange server can send and receive in and out bound mail with the exception of out bound mail be received as spam hence, the big question(s) re: DNS coming up...
This is the server information:
Exchange Server Static WAN IP 123.456.789.321
Exchange Server Static LAN IP:
Exchange Server (computer name): mailserver
Exchange Server e-mail domain:  mydomain.com
Here is where I am seeking advice...
1. Exactly what for DNS would I enter on the Exchange server if necessary?  Please be specific and detailed based on the Exchange settings I provided.

2. Exactly what DNS settings should I insert regarding DNS settings on the registrar?  Please be specific and detailed based on the Exchange settings I provided.

3.  Exactly what DNS information should I provide the ISP that provided the static WAN IP? Please be specific and detailed based on the Exchange settings I provided.

Your assistance with the DNS settings is greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to create a Distribution List in Exchange 2010, to where it's locked down for only approved users to email this list?
