Season Greetings and A Prosperous New Year for 2021 - and a Big Thank You from Andy!

In what has become an annual Andy EE Tradition, Many Thanks to all the VMware and Virtualisation Questions I've answered this year and for making EE what it is, an Excellent Community of Technical Folk from around the World.

We all live in very trying times, with COVID-19 this year, and I hope you and your families are safe, and hopefully, with vaccines which have now been developed it will not be soon, and the World can return to normal without the fear of COVID-19, and hopefully this time next yeat COIVID-19 will be a thing of the past.

I've analysed the data, and here is a thank you.

Anyone know if there is a way to view who has been nominated for the current MVE award nominations, and how many times? Is that info publicly available?

A lot of people around the world are 3D printing different items(masks, face shields, ventilator parts, etc.) to help with the COVID-19 crisis. I don't have a 3D printer, but I'm sure many of you do. If you have the capabilities, I encourage you to take this opportunity to help save lives. There are many designs and tutorials around the web. I'm just linking one resource to get you started.

iFixit is crowdsourcing repair information for hospital equipment. This seems like a great use of our collective brainpower to do some good during this global crisis. Let's help out however we can!

The new EE layout is more appealing and renders good in most browsers too. However in messages and also normal textbox for creating a post / asking a question it would be good if we are able to paste images directly instead of having it to be saved on local disk and then use an upload option.

Browser Tips Update

Further to my last post about testing a variety of browser performance statistics, I've recently discovered something that I think may be of use to other EE members.

When using Google Chrome as my default browser along with a variety of different AdBlocking extensions, visiting a page like this one: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ returns the following error after about 36 ads have been blocked. All further reading is prevented unless the site is whitelisted.

Google Chrome with Adblock Plus Extension
However, visiting the same page with the Brave Browser I can view the site and read any articles on there without ads and without triggering the Ad Blocker warning.

The site (along with a few others I've stumbled across) does not appear to recognize the built-in AdBlocker in Brave. How long that will remain to be the case I'm not sure.

I've also confirmed (from my own tests) that Brave is by far the quickest browser to use on Social Media sites like Facebook. Nowhere near the number of slowdowns that I experience with Google Chrome (or other browsers) that I've tested so far.

Further, using this extension (credit to McKnife for finding it) you can also leave Google Chrome as the default browser if you want to, yet easily send links to the Brave browser when needed. Works a treat here :)

I hope this little tidbit of information helps you out.

Regards, Andrew

An easy and light-hearted read about some experiences of John Hurst - a Microsoft certified Most Valuable Professional - about working alone. Give it a read and share your own experiences in the comments section of the article.

A few months ago, I appeared on a Facebook/YouTube/Twitch/BitChute  pod cast, the Technocrat Live with host Matthew Newhall.  We talked about a variety of things, tech, non-tech, EE, the MVP program, consulting, red light cameras... rumor has it I wasn't horrible... that said, I won't watch it.  In any case, if anyone would like to torture themselves and get to know me better, you can find it here: http://www.thetechnocratlive.com/ (I'm episode 3).

And if anyone finds the show interesting, I would particular recommend
Izaac (Episode 1)
Rares (Episode 5)
Panel #1 (Episode 8)
Steve (Episode 9 - *IF you're into music)
Walden (Episode 12)
Louisa (Episode 13)

(I've listened to them all but those were definitely the most interesting to me - except #9 wasn't my thing but I can see musicians finding this interesting.  Otherwise, even those I wasn't crazy about held my interest enough to keep listening in smaller chunks).

Thanks to all who participated!!!! I was stuck.  I had to create these buttons but was not adept enough at Photoshop to do the job.  I had almost all the materials (files) I needed.  I had looked up on youtube and google how to create the buttons, but I still wasn't quite getting it (I'm getting old).  So I asked this question (https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29145269/How-to-export-multiple-layers-to-a-png-file-from-photoshop-automatically.html) here on EE and received a lot of good answers.  To my delight, Emily Phelan (https://www.experts-exchange.com/members/Emily-Phelan-1.html) ended up being the person who answered my question most pointedly.  The other answers by David Favor (https://www.experts-exchange.com/members/David-Favor.html) and Scott Fell (https://www.experts-exchange.com/members/padas.html) ended up being excellent for other reasons.

Hey veterans! Back in the day, EE owned and used the domain expertsexchange.com
Did you ever give a thought why this might have changed to its current domain with the hyphen? See https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/domain-thing/
LOL!
