A font is a particular size, weight and style of a typeface. Each font is a matched set of type, one piece (called a "sort") for each glyph, and a typeface consists of a range of fonts that share an overall design. With the advent of digital typography, font is frequently synonymous with typeface, although the two terms do not necessarily mean the same thing. In particular, the use of "vector" or "outline" fonts means that different sizes of a typeface can be dynamically generated from one design. Each style may still be in a separate "font file" -- for instance, the typeface "Futura" may include the fonts "Futura roman", "Futura italic", "Futura bold" and "Futura extended" —- but the term "font" might be applied either to one of these alone or to the whole typeface.

We have a client and now three of their users are having this issue where the bottom of letters are being cut off on outgoing and incoming emails when using Tahoma (their company standard) font.

Outlook version: 16.0.4266.1001
Office has been updated but did not resolve the issue.

Does anyone know how to resolve this please?

Kind regards,
Ian

I live in Thailand and am developing a small billing application using MS Access 2010. The administrators of the system may be Thai or English speakers and I would like each form to be displayed to them in their preferred language. Effectively I wish to be able to toggle between the 2 languages.

BTW, I am an access novice.

My problem is that I am unable to get any form to correctly render the text string that I have coded in Thai.

For instance, if I have a button called toggle, I want to be able to switch to Thai via the following statement:-

Me.toggle.Caption = "ฤฆฎฑ"

This is not a valid Thai word BTW, just a random series of characters.

Anyway, despite the control having a unicode font that is supposed to support Thai script, it never renders properly, in fact no Thai characters are ever displayed.

I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction as this seem to me to be a fairly modest programming aspiration to have!

Many thanks

Regards
Mike

Hi!

Need some design direction.  It seems that once an site is well-designed for a phone, then there is no way to effectively put ads around the content.  Any sites that Experts think accomplish both: displays content in a clean / well-executed RWD design on a phone while simultaneously letting ads show.

Suggestions needed. :))

Thanks,

Do I have to install fonts for every user on Windows 7?  or just C\Windows\Fonts

Hi all.
I am a technician for a school district, and we have recently run into this problem after an update to Windows 10 Creators update 1703 (windows enterprise).  Many fonts that were running in both office 2013 and Office Professional Plus 2016 are now not displaying, and throwing the error "There is insufficient memory or disk space. Word cannot display the requested font." when you try to select them.  I have searched through everything i have been able to find related to this.

I have tried the following:
changing the normal.dot file to .old and re-creating it
recreating the VBA folder
applied all of the office updates to the system (as of latest ones on may 2 2017)
deleting the ~fontcache~ files and remaking them
repairing office
removing office x86 and installing x64
starting windows in 'normal' mode
copying the 240 items in C:\Windows\Fonts from an un-updated machine into an updated machine, which triggered the font install process, however when finished the updated machine still only had 86 items in it (a net gain of 3 from before i started that)

It is widespread for us and happening on any machine that pulled the Creators update (100+ machines).  If you select fonts like Century Gothic or Lucida Sans, the font does not change, and they throw the error.  Others like Broadway and Brush Script (examples) do not give an error, but nothing changes when you select them.

Another thing that happens is if you attempt to print a document that has one …

I had this question after viewing PowerPoint not providing access to all installed fonts within a family.

I created a PowerPoint document on Mac PowerPoint 2011 using the Titillium family. When I opened the document on a PC running PowerPoint 2012, I discovered that Titillium WebRegular (Mac) is not compatible with Titillium Web (PC). I'm trying to clean up the PowerPoint on the PC and embed the fonts. But even though I've changed all the text boxes and template text to PC fonts, the document still says that Titllium WebRegular cannot be embedded. I can't use Replace Fonts because I get the message about single byte vs double byte.

Is there another way to find all the fonts or do I have to start from scratch?

Also can DansDadUK please provide the link to the Titllium X Web family he created?

Thank you!

I'm having trouble loading self-hosted fonts. I set everything up correctly in my CSS file but for some reason, the correct font is not showing. Instead it's displaying another type of Serif font and the weird thing is, I purposely didn't list any fallback fonts.  The font I am trying to load is "DomainText" and should be loaded for the "Welcome" title. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong?

Hello Experts

I am having trouble using Email merge in Publisher 2013. Apparently my recipients are getting my newsletter in very low resolution
The text is rigid and the images are down sampled and it looks very bad...
I tried replacing the fonts with web compatible fonts (as Design Checker suggests) but still the result is the same low rez newsletter

Any clue Why is this happening? Are there any setting I should be aware of before sending? Any checklist?

Hello, I'm trying to reproduce the text you see in the uploaded image.

This is the text I'd like to reproduce as closely as possible.
I can't find a font similar to this one and most of all I don't know how to create that sort of indent effect on the right of each letter.

The tools I have access to are Photoshop and Illustrator.

I hope somebody can help me.

Thanks.

I run 3 different browsers (Edge, Firefox and Chrome)

For some websites Chrome and Firefox display content garbled, and I have uninstalled, reinstalled them both, checked fonts, cleared caches, deleted browsing history, deleted all content and the issue just doesnt go away. It only happens for some websites (Facebook being one)

As an additional symptom, when I View source I get the same results - which would suggest its font related...

I dont want to rebuild (its my machine) but I am out of answers.... so throw something at me.
What the?

When I send an Email message with color fonts using Outlook 2013, the fonts are all are black for the recipient - all the color is lost.  This happens both with the body and my signature as well - all the fonts change to black.  Font style, size, and highlighting is not affected, only the color of the fonts.  However, when I reply to a message, my color fonts go through just fine.  I am using HTML for both new Email and replies.   This happens even when I send Email to myself.  I have run the Outlook repair utility, and also created a new Email profile, but same problem.  I am sure this is a simple setting, but I can't figure it out.  Why do my color fonts go out as black?  Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I have a spreadsheet where a User keeps track of numbered Jobs.
The current Userform can be updated with more information as Jobs progress.

Is there any way to write back the data in a different font or colour ?
We want to use "strikeout" font on cancelled Jobs (rather than have a new field in the spreadsheet).
I will put a "cancelled Job" button on the Userform for this purpose (with all the appropriate controls).

Example of current code to write back data is:

r = worksheetfunction.match(Val(JobBox), Ws.columns(1), 0)
currentrow = r
Me.firstnamebox = ws.cells(r, "b")
Me.lastnamebox = ws.cells(r, "c")
Me.Phonebox = ws.cells(r, "d")
Me.AgeBox = ws.cells(r, "e")
....etc,etc

cheers (P.S. Have not done this forum stuff for a zillion years so a bit out of date )

I was asked to edit a website: www.peakventures.ca and change some things that I simply could not. I changed some things like font colors, backgrounds, etc. I would love to know if there is a way to "reset" the formatting only on the website to its original theme "Sydney".

Kind Regards,
Tina

When a machine starts Excel, they get an error each time that says Error 1907 Could not register font. Verify that you have permissions to install the font.

I can't get any other information about this other than there are registry areas that I don't have access to and I can't change the permissions to allow me to install this patch.

I have uninstalled updates
I have repaired the office 2010 installation
I have removed the latest excel patch but that didn't help

I have cleaned temp files
I have removed unnecessary registry items using CCleaner.

I have installed the excel patch again and am rebooting.
The excel patch for office 2010 installed on 4/17
The end user starting the issue
Right now, when I go into the event logs, I see issues there such as the following

The machiine is running Windows 7 x64 Pro
has 24GB of RAM
1TB HDD

All temp files have been cleared up.
There was some sort of Skype issue in the event logs yesterday. Something about not being able to remove the program or can't find the installation source files.

I tried reinstalling then removing but that didn't help.

Rebooted after running all available updates
Reinstalled Excel 2010 patch from yesterday.

No difference
If I launch Outlook, no error
If I launch Word, no error
If I launch Excel, I get Font installation error 1907 Could not register font.
This of course appears to have to do with registry permissions.

Example of registry errors:

I have a custom signature which works great when I type a new email.  But, about 50% of the time, when I REPLY to an email, all the customization is wiped out and just text appears.  There are no links, no color changes, no font changes, etc.  Any idea why this is happening and how to make it so that when I click reply that my customized signature block appears?

Hi,
I have been all over Microsoft and cannot find a solution this this issue. I have a customer that receives emails with the address field in very large font, but the message is normal font. I have attached a picture of this odd issue. This screenshot doesn't show the body of the email, but the font is normal. The sender does not send it this way. This is how it arrives to receiver.
Thanks!

Hi Experts,

I just downloaded font-awesome, and only changed the fonts folders in font-awesome.css to match my structure.  For now, I'm just using fa fa-bars, which shows up...

However, I get
GET http://localhost/aces-project.com/styles/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff2?v=4.6.3
_NEW.php:1 GET http://localhost/aces-project.com/styles/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff?v=4.6.3

Open in new window

...but both of these  files  exist.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Experts,

I've never used specialized fonts in my CSS, would the following be correct?

@font-face {
    font-family: "Clibri";
    src: url(calibri.ttf) format("truetype");
}
* {
    font-family: Calibri, Verdana, Tahoma;
}

Open in new window

I know that Calibri has 5-6 files, but I just copied the  main .ttf file in the same folder as my .css file. Is that correct?

Lastly, how can I tell if the browser is using my calibri, or the browser's default font?

Thanks

Hi there, I have gone thru a few google searches on how to install a font, but cannot for the life of me find how to test...

I have placed the *.ttf file in the FONTS dir within Windows and made a page which has the font on it (which what I think the name of the font is).

Is this correct? Or is there another way of installing testing?

Cheers
