Fonts Typography

A font is a particular size, weight and style of a typeface. Each font is a matched set of type, one piece (called a "sort") for each glyph, and a typeface consists of a range of fonts that share an overall design. With the advent of digital typography, font is frequently synonymous with typeface, although the two terms do not necessarily mean the same thing. In particular, the use of "vector" or "outline" fonts means that different sizes of a typeface can be dynamically generated from one design. Each style may still be in a separate "font file" -- for instance, the typeface "Futura" may include the fonts "Futura roman", "Futura italic", "Futura bold" and "Futura extended" —- but the term "font" might be applied either to one of these alone or to the whole typeface.

Word 2013  - Insufficient Memory - Word cannot display the requested font

When Opening a specific word document, user receives error " Insufficient Memory - Word cannot display the requested font"
I ran a repair of office 2013, Renamed to .old, Tried  opening word in safe mode - No Add-ins
Nothing seems to be working.
I can open the document without an issue on my computer.

I've run out of ideas.

I am having an issue with installing fonts. I have six Europe fonts bold, boldItalic, light, lightItalic,regular and regularItalic, all seperate otf files. I install the first one and it works as expected but when I try to install the next file windows prompts with a duplicate file error. If I tell windows to overwrite the file then the first font changes of course to the new font. For example I Installed Europe-Bold.otf and then installed europe-boldItalic.otf and it just replaced the first bold font I installed. Any ideas? This is a windows 1803 build
Power Point 2016,. how do I change the default font from Arial to Calibri so that it does bring up Arial Again when the account open. It is not evident how to do this in Power Point 2016.

Word 2016 "There is insufficient memory or disk space. Word cannot display the requested font."

I am getting this error on a newly upgraded HP Z840, we upgraded from Win 7 pro to Win 10 Pro, also Office 2010 to Office 2016. Its the same shared file system however we did upgrade servers to 2016 and completely renamed the domain and nuked the old one. I dont see any permission issues with the old file system and I have tried every internet remedy. Rename .dot, check permissions on font folder, make sure document is not protected. It does not seem to do the same thing on newly created files.

This is my last attempt before contacting 365 support.

The standard UserForm does not allow mixed fonts to be entered into the same Text control. Under excel vba control, I want to type simple rich text for scientific notation: superscript, subscript, italic, with SYMBOL font plus one or just a few standard fonts, like Calibri, or Tahoma, for example.
These formatting features to be applied together (in various combinations) to just a sentence or two, in each instance.

If this is possible, I'd then want to use vba automation to copy the rich text output and paste it into another office format: particularly into a shape object in MS Visio. I'm aware that mixed text can be composed in Visio shapes directly, but in my excel+visio automation piece, it would greatly help the user to compose rich text outside the visio application.

Is there a way of achieving this?

I have installed 8 fonts on a Windows 7 machine in the Fonts Folder (and they show up there) but only four of the fonts are available to me in the Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat.  Any ideas why this is?
Hi. I am trying to change the font, the font size and color of a cell in an excel worksheet from my application.

The first two lines of code run without errors but do not change anything in the cells. The third line, to change the color, gives me the following error at runtime: "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: 'Type mismatch. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020005 (DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH))'"

The workbook is open to not read-only and is editable, in fact, the same cells will add values.

Here is my code:

'Format formula cell to match font and size of existing cells
                ForcastWorkSheet.Cells.Range(strRange).Font.Name = "Arial"
                ForcastWorkSheet.Cells.Range(strRange).Font.Size = "9"
                ForcastWorkSheet.Cells.Range(strRange).Interior.Color = "Orange, Accent 2, Lighter 60%"

Can you please help me work out why the font-face fonts are not loading?

Console log says...

Failed to decode downloaded font
OTS parsing error: invalid version tag

but I'm not sure how to resolve?
Hi All,

I have a very basic Windows based .net application in which I have used messageboxes.  How can I determine/know the font of the messageboxes ?

OS used : Windows Server 2008 r2
Next are elements I use to upload images. File uploading form to browse for file, then to select the file and to confirm the selection with "open" button. Upload button, which will start the upload with redirecting to php file. And "span" element which will display selected image file.

<form id="avatar_form" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post" action="loadbackImg1.php">
            <label class="custom-file-upload"  >
            <input  type="file"  id="fileUpload1" name="loadBckImg" ></label>
             <input class="Btn2"  id="fileUpload1Btn" type="submit" value="Upload" >
      </form><br>  <!---->
    <span class="upload-path1"></span><br> <br>

Open in new window

Next is the explanation of procedure and why I am using "span" element. On change event of file upload window-form, it will set ".files[0].name ". File upload window does't have any value when form is opened first time. When file is selected and confirmed the selection value ".files[0].name " is set unconditionally and displayed in "span" element. That's why upload button gets red font for "load" caption to notice user that everything is ready to click on button and to start the upload.
function fileUploadF(){
   span[0].innerHTML = document.getElementById('fileUpload1').files[0].name;
   document.getElementById('fileUpload1Btn').style.color="#5e80ad" ;

Open in new window

But user my then decide that he would prefer not to upload the selected file this time and to do other operations on the currently opened page. In this case "span" has to disappear and upload button caption color to return back to previous color on any click on page. Next is code does this:

window.addEventListener("click", function(event) {
   if (span[0].innerHTML){
    span[0].innerHTML = '';
    document.getElementById('fileUpload1Btn').style.color="#B2BABB" ;

Is there a way in the RowDataBound event in VB.NET to change the Font used for just a single column in the GridView control?

I have a GridView bound to a data source and for the a single column only in the GridView I want to use the Wingdings3 font so I can put the triangle symbol in that column.
Example of label/legend on form:
Here is my code that I just started changing the first nested IF.  The line I added for the Font change is incorrect syntax.  What would the syntax be?
I don't need to do it at the cell level necessarily if there is a way to change the whole single column to that font too, that would work as long as the header for that column would not change or could be blank:

    Public Sub OnRowDataBound(sender As Object, e As GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridViewHierachical.RowDataBound

        If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then
            If e.Row.Cells(1).Text = "Delayed" Then
                e.Row.Cells(1).ForeColor = Drawing.Color.Red
                e.Row.Cells(1).Text = "p"  ' <== Wingdings3 character used to produce a down pointing solid triangle
                ' Change the font for column one to wingdings3 ==>  GridViewHierachical.Columns(1).DefaultCellStyle.Font = New Drawing.Font(GridViewHierachical.DefaultCellStyle.Font)
            End If
            If e.Row.Cells(1).Text = "Potential Early" Then

I am running Windows 10 on my computer.  I have two excellent photo editing programs (Corel Paintshop Pro 2019 and Cyberlink Photo Director 9).  They are both a lot more than I need, but Microsoft stopped supporting their simple photo editing program so I had to move on.   I am trying to insert a text layer over an existing image.  The image has a pale pink background, so I need to have the text layer be transparent.  I can't figure out how to do that.  Both programs allow me to insert text, but neither allows me to select the font I want (even though the font is listed in the drop down font selection menu).  Can you please help … or direct me to a simpler program that will allow me to do this?

ASP.NET Web form with VB.NET.    I have legend on the form.  I tried using the Wingdings3 font.  It looks fine in design view.  When I run it in IE11 it does not show in the Wingdings3 font.  It just shows the letter you use instead.

So I thought I would try an imagebox control.  It will not browse to the image folder of my project for some reason.  So I dragged/dropped the image from folder to design view.  Again it shows in design view, but does not show at runtime in IE11.

The method I prefer to use as it is the easiest and looks best is to use the Wingdings3 font.
How do I get it to show at runtime?

If there is no other way, then I guess I will use the image.  I'm guessing it will not be transparent around the symbol - :( .   It has a border around it too.   :(
How do I get rid of the border and get it to show at runtime?

Here is what it looks like in the designer.  The symbols on the left are the images (made using the Windows Snipping tool on the Wingdings).  The symbols on the right are the Wingdings3 font:
Here is what it looks like in IE11 at runtime:

I'm using Windows 2007. When I hover over the programs shown in the lower bar, a thumb pops up describing it, and sometimes thumbs pop up for all of the programs down there, as shown in  the attached image. How can I change the font used in the title of these thumbs? The small  white text is too hard to read.

I am converting Crystal Reports to BI Publisher.  BI Publisher uses MS Word for the visual display.  I am extremely inept at look and feel.  Attached you will find 2 samples of text. The crystal uses Arial 8 for these labels.  When I use Arial 8, in word it does not display the same amount of text.

What font would you suggest to get the same look and quantity of letters in .

Thanks in advance,

I was wondering that is it possible find specific text with certain style applied in it and convert with another text and style?

For example:
i) If we find "5" text with font MathematicalPi-One applied in it than it should be converted into "=" with style Arial Unicode MS. And highlight the changes.

ii) And we have a list of items which we have to convert with them, than what will be the shortest and fastest macro to do the same?

Email to a client is being delivered with wingdings font and not in Chinese as it's supposed to. The email originates from their partner who reports that there's nothing unusual their side.

Whole email message including the subject field is in wingdings (mostly question marks) although it should be showing in simplified Chinese. The same issue is seen on OWA and not just the local Outlook client. Client is on O365 running Outlook 2013.

I have tried changing language on OWA and Outlook to English and also tried changing the encoding language on Outlook with no positive effect.

Does this indicate a language error? I have read some people saying that this may happen due to the sender using a wingdings emoticon. Or could this possibly be an issue on the sender's side?
Hi Experts,

I have following code to convert from characters into signatures.
  Dim str As String
  str = "{" & """values""" & ":" & Me.Signature & "}"

        Dim Json As Dictionary
        Set Json = JsonConverter.ParseJson(str)
        Dim Values As Variant
        Dim Value As Dictionary
        If Len(Signature & "") > 1000 Then
            Me.ScaleMode = 3
            Me.LabelPatientSignature.FontSize = 8
            Me.ScaleMode = 1
            Me.LabelPatientSignature.FontSize = 7
        End If
 'If Len(Me.Signature) < 200 Then Me.DrawWidth = 5
        For Each Value In Json("values")
        If Len(Signature) > 100 Then
            Me.Line (1200 + Value("lx"), Value("ly"))-(1200 + Value("mx"), Value("my")), vbBlack
            Me.Line (1200 + Value("lx"), Value("ly") - 5)-(1200 + Value("mx") + 10, Value("my") + 5), vbBlack, BF
        End If
         'Me.Line (1200 + Value("lx"), Value("ly") - 5)-(4000, Value("my") + 5), vbBlack, BF
