Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am wondering how long a controller for a PS4 console will retain its charge.  It is my understanding it will need to be fully charged via standard to micro USB cable when the PS4 console is removed from its box.  I believe the front LED area of the controller will be an amber color when needing to be charged and a blue color when fully charged.   However, I was unclear about the time duration for the retention of the charge.

            Thank you

Hello and Good Morning Everyone,

As an extension to my previously closed questions regarding Playstation 4 consoles, I am wondering if they support playback of DVD and Bluray media or disk.  I will be purchasing a PS4 this month and wish to harness all of it features and potential.

           Thank you

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

I am interested in purchasing a PS4 console with a controller which brings me to the purpose of this post.   When selecting a PS4 console with controller, what exactly should I be looking for with respect to features.  Are all PS4 consoles the same?  The games I am purchasing the PS4 console for are PacMan https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/arcade-game-series-pac-man/cid=UP0700-CUSA03955_00-PACMAN0000000000  , Eight Ball Deluxe https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/eight-ball-deluxe/cid=UP2058-CUSA00081_00-TABPACKPS4000053  , and Cyclone https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/pinball-arcade-cyclone/cid=UP2058-CUSA00081_00-TABPACKPS4000036.  I hope these are full version games because the requested online purchase amount does seem low.

With respect to budget, I would like to purchase a PS4 console with controller within the price range of $250 to $300.  It seems like the average price is $300 based upon the ones reviewed on ebay and amazon.

Any feedback given in reply to this question will be greatly appreciated.

          Thank you

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am wondering where I can go to download Kings of Steel pinball game for PS4.   I was lucky to find Eight Ball Deluxe pinball game at https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/eight-ball-deluxe/cid=UP2058-CUSA00081_00-TABPACKPS4000053.  Like Kings of Steel pinball game, it is another 80's classic.  At any rate, if someone could provide a lead for downloading Kings of Steel pinball game for PS4, it will be greatly appreciated.

           Thank you

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

I will be purchasing a PS4 gaming console with controllers this month.  I will be starting at ground zero, meaning, I be a beginner starting with nothing with respect to knowledge of configuring and setting it up.  However, I have run across some classic PS4 games which I would like to purchase from the playstation store.  One is PacMan located at https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/arcade-game-series-pac-man/cid=UP0700-CUSA03955_00-PACMAN0000000000 and the other is Eight Ball Deluxe located at https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/eight-ball-deluxe/cid=UP2058-CUSA00081_00-TABPACKPS4000053.   There is an option to add each one of these to a shopping cart for purchasing which leads me into this question.  How can I transfer any online purchased PS4 game to my PS4 gaming console when it arrives?

             Thank you

I'm officially at my wit's end here.  I have a customer who is a Veteran, and the only game he wants to play is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag on PS3.  He brought in his PS3 because the game freezes almost every time at the LOADING screen when the bar gets all the way across.  Here is a list of what we have attempted to repair this issue.  Oh, and yes, he has been able to play this game before.

HIS PS3 SLIM
1.  Disassembled and clean Laser LENS.
2.  Cleaned Disc.
3.  Repaired HDD.
4.  Backed up data, installed used 250GB HDD, installed PS3 Software 4.81, and restored data.
5.  Deleted update file to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and redownloaded.
6.  Deleted saved game data
7.  Used 2nd Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag disc.

So, in an attempt to figure this out because I told him it's either the disc or his system, he brought in another Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Disc for PS3 and a used PS3 Slim that he purchased at GameStop.  Like I said, he REALLY likes this game. So...

NEW PS3 SLIM (NEW to him)
1.  Transferred data using ethernet cable from OLD PS3 to NEW PS3.
2.  Formatted system and created new user.
3.  Kept system from hooking up to internet to download update.
4.  Updated game software with no saved game data or user account.

PLEASE HELP! (Image of hair on ground after pulled out)

Hello and Good Morning Everyone,

I am interested in connecting a game console for playback of older classic 80's games (PacMan, Donkey Kong, Centipede, etc.) onto my VIZIO flat screen television (Models D32h-C1).  It does have 2 HDMI and 1 COMP input.  The COMP input is currently being used by a DVD player.  I have been looking at some nice ATARI 2600 gaming consoles with a variety of classic 80's games of interest on ebay. However, I am not sure how compatible these things will prove to be with my television set within the realm of playback quality.

Given what has been disclosed here, I am wondering if I might could get some suggestions or recommendations for gaming consoles which will play back older 80's classic games without technical issues.

Any submitted suggestions along with links to check out for review and evaluation will be greatly appreciated.

              Thank you

Controller disconnects from Xbox One randomly yet constantly.  On average it disconnects about once every 2-3 minutes making gameplay nearly impossible.  In other words every 2-3 minutes the controller starts “blinking” and whatever game I am playing pauses and the Xbox displays “controller disconnected.”  I then have to wait for the controller to stop blinking (reconnect) then try to continue play.  I stated on “average” every 2-3 minutes, but sometimes it is non-stop (disconnect, reconnect, immediately disconnect, repeat.

I had a friend bring over two of his controllers to test them to see if it is a problem with the controller you sent me or both the controller and the console.  While playing, the controller you sent me disconnected at least once every few minutes.  His controllers disconnected approximately 5 times in the course of a half hour of play.

I played the Jackbox Party Pack that connects to your smartphone via the Wi-Fi connection and had no issues over the course of at least an hour of play with a friend using only smartphones. Does that rule out the Wi-Fi Chip? Should it be the RF Module Board or both that are replaced?

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS ALREADY TAKEN:

- Plugged controller in via USB cable and “updated” to latest firmware.
- Hard wired the xbox one to the modem eliminating it needing to wirelessly connect.
- Moved the xbox one from the enclosed shelf to the top of the entertainment center so that is is not surrounded by any other materials; …

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am wondering how I can interface a 1980's retro game console with a VIZIO flat screen television
(Model D32h-C1)  The link to the classic or retro game is https://9gifts.net/products/400-classic-video-games-in-one  for review.

Any shared input will be greatly appreciated.

            Thank you

I have found an Old Spectrum 48 with games and other bits, rather than just throw it all out is there anyone who would want it?  It hasn't been used for a long time so am not sure if it still works.

The bundle comes with a previously unreleased Star Fox 2.  But Super Mario RPG and Final Fantasy III are big wins too!  I have the SMRPG cartridge but have never been able to hunt down a FFIII.  Would be great to play that with the feel of the old controllers.

Hello,

Recently I used the Retropie emulation software for Raspberry Pi. It is a really cool software and is very handy and attractive. So, I was wondering whether I could replicate these softwares on sd cards, install them on pis and start selling them for some small scale business. I would like to know, if doing such a thing would be legal. Actually, there are quite few ideas about using pis as portable media centers, portable game consoles, a simple portable desktops or just a cheap monitoring cameras. It can be customized to the very end for users and can be an attention grabber in certain circles. But what would be my legal position and what, if any, licensing would it require to start such a business?

Thanks in advance.

Hello all,

This is exciting -- I have not used experts exchange in over a decade! Boy does it look completely different these days.

I have created a device which takes various Xbox controllers as input and allows the user to plug it into a Nintendo 64. I am using a Nucleo-F446RE to prototype this project.

It has been confirmed to work with wireless xbox 360 controllers, wired xbox one controllers, and off-brand wired xbox 360 controllers. However oddly enough, it will not work with a Microsoft brand xbox 360 wired controller!

Since it works with off-brand x360 wired controllers, I assume I have the protocol correct. The problem is likely very low level and beyond my knowledge level. I have access to a Saleae logic analyzer for aid in debugging. Is someone with good knowledge of the USB protocol and/or the wired xbox 360 controller able to aid in debugging?

The code is public at https://developer.mbed.org/users/Ownasaurus/code/N64_Output_XPAD/

Thanks,
Ownasaurus

PS4 extended storageEarlier this week I took advantage of the PlayStation 4's new 4.5 update that finally allows the use of external storage. And wow, that process was easy!

I picked up a 1TB external Seagate USB drive (one of the slim ones that can be powered fully over USB) and hooked it in. The PS4 gave me a notification telling me it detected the external storage and that I'd need to format it. At first, I was worried that I'd have to hook it up to my PC or Mac to format it appropriately there, but nope! It took me right through a few very simple confirmation screens to get it formatted correctly and I was up and running in less than 5 minutes.

Haven't really checked out the performance on it yet, but I'll install something to it this weekend to verify. I imagine it certainly won't be as good as an internal upgrade or switching to an SSD, but unless performance is really terrible, I'll probably be pretty happy with the 5 minute, no hassle approach :-)

Good question, Rob! I'd assume it's proprietary, but I'll see what I can find out some night soon.

I did mine, and I think I saw exFAT as the format.  So, theoretically, you should be able to read the disk with it plugged into your computer.

Hello, Experts Exchange.
I've been working on a project in class and if you could spend a few minutes to help me with a problem i'd really appreciate it.
In our class, we have to make an MMORPG Video game and i was asking you for a little help with my issue.
So, we had to have an in-game shop within our MMORPG video game and the platforms for this game we're :
______________
-Xbox
-Playstation 4
______________
So my question is what money processor should i use for people to buy my in-game shop items? Should i use paypal? Microsoft? If you could help me, that'd be great. A part of this project is also to ask Experts Exchange a question.
Thank You for taking your time and reading this question.

What programming code does the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 1 use for games like NBA 2k, and Madden?

Nice! Sony's Playstation 4 is finally going to allow external attached storage. Maybe I won't have to go through the hassle of upgrading the internal drive after all :-)

In this scenario, you could update the primary HD to be a small (cheap) SSD for the OS only, then put a massive SSHD on the external port and see pretty significant performance gain.

Yeah, that'd be pretty sweet. I've got my PC set up that way and it's really nice :-)

Replaced the original 500GB HD with a 2TB SSHD in my PS4 last night. Installation of the new drive & OS only took about 20 minutes total and doesn't void the warranty of the console.

New drive:

I say definitely take the plunge, if you are even close to maxing out the original HD. I was having to delete a game, every time I bought a game. Then I wouldn't go back to my old games, because I'd have to sit through a re-install.

In one of my classes for school we have to come up with a business plan for a MMORPG that we are creating. One of the topics is programming. My game is two teams fighting against each other which includes interaction, guns, fighting, moving around, and a world that is a city with all the tall buildings destructed and on fire due to bombings. What kind of codes would be used to make this happen?

Hi Game programmers/ web / financial people who generally know about this kind of thing..

I saw an email for an opportunity to take online surveys and receive compensation.
Sounds too good to be true?

Anything that I have to provide credit card / banking information is a red flag consideration, right?

Thanks
