Chrome OS is an operating system based on the Linux kernel and designed to work with web applications and installed applications. Initially, Chrome OS was almost a pure web thin client operating system, with only a handful of "native" applications, but Google gradually began encouraging developers to create "packaged applications", some of which can work offline. App Runtime for Chrome (beta) enables Android applications to run on Chrome OS. Chrome OS is built upon the open source project called Chromium OS which, unlike Chrome OS, can be compiled from the downloaded source code; Chrome OS is the commercial version installed on specific hardware.

I'm not sure what website triggered this but I was looking for an owners manual for a Computemp 5.
If I click on the right arrow it closes but reappears
If I click on settings nothing in there that looks to be helpful.
If I click More I get another window.
It says related to Norton and I don't have Norton on this system.
Thanks.

I have a service client moving to cloud based dispatch.
What would you recommend for field techs - Chromebook, iPad, or WIndows tablet.
What service(s) to connect?  LTE for coverage or Wireless with access point?

Hi,

My boss bought a Chromebook for his son and asked me to set it up. I thought it was going to be a breeze. But..........

I created a gmail account for his son and then installed Word (he bought a license yesterday.) When Word opens, I enter MS account info. As EEs can see, it shows OneDrive is connected, but on the top right corner still shows "sign in".

Once I click on top right "sign in" and enter email, I got this "cannot add another OneDrive account"

Any ideas? thanksAnnotation-2019-12-20-184441.pngDSC_0001.JPG

One of the users on our network is using Google file stream to connect to our shared Google Drive. They somehow deleted one of the folders on that shared drive but all the data is still there if we login.  It seems she lost the connecting folder.  how do I put it back?

I have a few sites that are currently using RDS to share remote desktops so students can access a few legacy apps from “dumb” RDP terminals and/or Windows 10 computers in a lab setting.  I would like to covert these labs to chrome based os to solve some security and reduce hardware requirements.  The issue I have is when accessing a Share RDS Application the browser (Firefox or Chrome) requires the RDP client be installed.  Does anyone have any recommendations or RDS replacement (I know Citrix can) that would be inexpensive and easily managed?

I would like to install ChromeOS  on an older laptop I have - does anyone know where I can download an ISO or otherwise install the OS without purchasing a chromebook or pixelbook?

Chrome keeps on crashing.  Sometimes it's after 1 hour or sometimes it's after 5 or 6 hours. It's happening with multiple websites, but one in particular, which is an internal website on one of my servers, my my network monitoring site.

The computer I'm using is brand new, it's a Dell, has 32GB ram, 512 GB SSD, 6core processor, and I turned off all sleep settings, so it never goes to sleep.

Here's some screenshots.  This same issue is also happening on a different computer as well, so it's something with Chrome and not windows 10 is what I'm thinking.
I'm running the newest version of chrome.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

In GAFE how do I add our domain to the login page so that when a student logs in they don't need to add @domainname.com every single time? Instead it's already auto populated and they can just type in their username?

Thanks in advance!

Hello and Good Morning Everyone,

I am almost ready to start installing some applications and games onto an Acer Chromebook C720 Series Model ZHN running Chrome OS.  Before I begin this process, I am wondering how I can check the available internal hard drive storage or free space on this Chromebook.

          Thank you

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

Using a link given to lifewire.com from a previously closed post, I learned the steps for creating a shortcut within Google Chrome.  However, the shortcut went into the taskbar area as opposed to the desktop.  That said, I am wondering how I might get the shortcut within the taskbar moved to the desktop.  The setup being used in this project is an Acer Chromebook C720 Series Model ZHN running Chrome OS.

            Thank you

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

Seeing that I should not attempt to install any Windows-based applications or games onto an Acer Chromebook C720 Series Model ZHN running Chrome OS, I wonder where I might go online to download free applications and games made specifically for it.

        Thank you

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

I have an Acer Google Chromebook which is running Chrome OS as its operating system.  However, I have several programs and games which require a Windows-based operating system to run that I would like on it.  That said, I am wondering if it is possible to completely wipe or format the Chromebook and start over by installing Windows 10 and loading all of the necessary Windows 10 hardware device drivers on it.

If more specific information about the Chromebook is needed such as its model number, please let me know and I will furnish it right away.

         Thank you.

I have been directed to deploy a group of chrome books (30 or more) by a certain date.  My knowledge is limited =)  My thought is to get a Google admin console (gsuite) to manage the chromebook devices only, not users.  Another unit in the company already manages google user accounts.

If I do get a Google admin console, and just enroll chromebooks with it (not create user accounts), can I also:

1. push security and functionality updates to the devices?
2. manage a central repository of approved "google play" apps, or push apps onto the chromebooks from a console?
3. prevent any user that is logged in from changing settings, adding unapproved apps, or removing apps that I have installed?

Thank you!!

I was working in Zendesk (using Chrome). At one point, I think I was searching for something (via CTRL-F) and I thought i saw the message "Bookmark Added" flash on the screen. is it possible I  hit some sort of hotkey to add a bookmark at the Chrome level?

I'd much rather it be that than an accidental bookmark insertion in Zendesk.

Thanks,
Steve

The problem:
I need to go to corporate websites to collect location information for all offices, branches or facilities. We want to be able to search a website of a large international bank, national restaurant chain, network of hospitals or multi-national conglomerate of manufacturing facilities and collect relevant information like Address Location Phone etc. For the purposes of plotting the branches offices restaurants or facilities on a map utilizing geo-coding and logistics. For instance, some of the banks, retail stores and or restaurants under their find a store locator or store locations area on many websites. Example https://www.lowes.com/

Data webpage I need address locations from to be scrapped
As you can see from the store locator on the above website. It launches a small window of local store close to me. However, I am hoping to get a list of all stores either by state or across America. I am aware of the Google Sheets that uses there Import HTML or Import XML code function to do this.  I think Excel has a similar function as well. At the moment I cannot find examples or steps for what I am hoping to do. Wondered if any of you out there knew what tool I could use and how I might go about it?

Hi

I’m trying to setup a Chromebook to print to a Canon MG2950 using Google Cloud Print.

1)      Canon MG2950 is connected wirelessly to a local network. A windows laptop can print successfully.

2)      The Chromebook is connected wirelessly to the same network.

3)      The printer manual states that the MG2950 is compatible with Google Cloud Print

4)      Within the printer’s web interface, we have registered the printer with Google Cloud Print, using the same credentials that are used to log onto the Chromebook.

5)      When we log onto Google Cloud Print, the printer is listed (although greyed out), states it’s ‘owned by me’ but ‘currently offline’

Questions

a)      If the Chromebook and Google Cloud Print enabled printer are on the same local network, does the print request leave the local network e.g. does it get sent to external Google servers first before getting re-directed to the printer?

b)      Canon’s article https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART167513&cat=6992B002&actp=LIST mentions which ports Google Cloud Print uses. Is this outgoing, or incoming ports or both?

I look forward to receiving your thoughts/comments.

Regards

I wish to enable Device Management, in our G-Suite, only for enrolled Chromebooks. They are in a single OU.

I do not wish Basic Mobile Management activated for personal devices that have a G-Suite account on them.

Is this possible?

Many thanks

My Lenovo Chromebook will not connect with my Cannon printer.  When I have the two connected by wire, my Chromebook only gives me the option to save the file, which I am still unable to print.

Hello Experts,
I was given a Chromebook that seems to be in Recovery mode, I have never worked on this type of machine; I visited a few blogs that suggest putting on DEV mode by pressing the Ctrl+D keys, but I am not able to do that.
I also tried to create a recovery image using a USB, but regardless of the USB I use, it always says the device I inserted does not contain ChromeOS.

Any ideas on how I can recover this little machine?
