I would like to develop a new hire onboarding process  for the department I am currently working in.   The department is in still in startup phase even though it has been functioning for about 3 years.  It currently does not have anything in place at the moment to guide employees.   New employees are being thrown into projects and have no idea what is expected of them or what to do.  It is very chaotic and unproductive.

I have started the process of building documentation and/or training videos or links to videos.  I need a suggestion of a tool that can be used to locate everything with the onboarding process.  Someone suggested developing a Wiki.  I want to know if this is a good suggestion or department portal page?  Something that would quick and easy for the new employee to access.   Suggestions on the developments of a tool would be greatly appreciated?

I am a new employee hired in a department in the company I am working for.  The department is about two years old and there are still attempting to find their way in the company. There is no onboarding process in the department that guides new hires on expectations of the job, no documents to review, or suggested training needed?  I would like to suggest and develop an onboarding process that would give new hires performance aspects of their jobs to transition quickly and smoothly.  I would like to develop a process through which new hires learn the attitudes, knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to function effectively within the department so they do not feel lost.  IT will not be sitting for a month at a desk with nothing to do.  Can someone provide an example or samples of an onboard process?  I would like for it to include the following:

How to develop the plan?
What types of documents will the new hire need to review?
What steps need to be implemented to train the employee on best practices, standards, guidelines of department and tasks associated with their job.
What kind of tool can be utilized or developed where the department employees can go to find the onboard process materials, i.e., guidelines, tasks, training documents or videos or links to videos.

Thanks.

we are looking at controls for a new HR and Payroll system. We need to ensure users permissions in the system are free from fraud/misuse, through effective separation of duties and granting of access permissions. Are there any specific types of permission in HR and payroll systems where no one officer should be able to perform multiple tasks without a secondary officer involved, e.g. separation of duties/'high risk' functions from a fraud/inappropriate use angle.

Hi,

I'm currently looking to hire two additional PHP developers on my team.

I've interviewed quote a few which have good experience, and they talk a good game... however it's hard to know how good they actually will be until they are hired.

Can any of you recommend additional questions or maybe a test to give each candidate in order to assess them further?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello experts,

I am trying to locate the most stable and most used open source HR solution.  I looked at number of open sources, which they claim to be, but they are not when the number of users goes beyond certain amount or require additional services.  The number of employees I will be using on this service is over 250.  The HR products I looked at was HR.me, OrangeHRM, and couple more.

I am looking forward to your recommendations.

Thanks in advance

I have a client that uses exclusively Office365.  They use the one drive feature to share between users as you would normally.  When a person is leaves the company, what is the recommended way to move all that person's files for review before we delete them?  I can access the files, but other than "share this file" it doesn't really look like there is a "transfer ownership" and just simply move all the files to the new person or the supervisor for review/final deletion.

What do you guys usually do for the routine change of employees in Office 365?

Hi,  I am looking to design a profit sharing scheme that would take into account the job level of the employee, the performance of the geographic region, and the individual performance level.  The first can be a number between 1 and 7 or a dollar amount, the second will be the achievement of projected profit, and the third will be a number between 1 and 5.  Is there anyway to calculate a final contribution without making it the percentage of a cap?  The total pool for each geographic regional will be a straight percentage of profits.

i.e. 15% of profits might be 10 million for ease of calculation.  For thirty employees, is there some formula that will reward each employee a portion of that 10 million based on their job level, achievement of projected profit, and ind. performance???

Thank you!

Powerful tools can do wonders, but only in the right hands. Nowhere is this more obvious than with the cloud.

Great article, Oscar! This is a topic becoming incredibly important to me. I love how many new sorts of techniques and tools there are for fostering improved communication, but it's definitely in a major transitional period. There are so many options! I've had to figure out things like what type of communication preferences different people have, to try to make sure I'm using the one that they prefer. Like how some people prefer email and rarely check chat, whereas others can be the exact opposite! Exciting times for sure...

I also love your mention of team building activities. One idea I've toyed with is using cooperative style board games, such as Pandemic. Wondering if anyone else has tried things like that?
