Illustration Software

Illustration software is distinguished from photo-editing software in that the result is an original construction, rather than the manipulation of a photograph. Illustration software uses vector-based tools such that the content is stored digitally as resolution-independent mathematical formulae describing lines (open paths), shapes (closed paths), and color fills, strokes or gradients. Vector paths are constructed of anchor points and path segments. Illustration tools typically create precise lines, shapes and patterns with well-defined edges and are superb for working with complex constructions such as maps and typography.

I have made a name badge template with 6 name badges on it in Adobe Indesign.  I have the .csv file with the name and can import the names to the sheet with the Data Merge.  What I am not getting is how to set so it goes next record on all 6 badges.  If you can direct me on getting this to work in InDesign it would be most helpful.

Thank you

I'm trying to create that text effect you see during the beginning of those Star Wars movies whereby the text scrolls up the screen and it has that perspective effect that makes it look like its going away from you at the same time.
Anyhow, I've typed my text and I've read that I then need to convert it to a shape. But when I do that the text changes dramatically and is no longer that legible (frankly, I think it looks like crap). I guess that's normal because by converting it I'm now rasterizing it (or am I un-rasterizing it? I dunno). Is there any way I can minimize that ugly change (maybe by using a font type that's better suited for that)?

I wonder how it works now with Adobe.  Contacted a vendor.  Said Adobe has moved all their products to a cloud based subscription.
Does that mean nothing needs to be installed locally anymore?   Hows performance then?
Anyone familiar?  Need Photoshop and Illustrator for one user.  User had a Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Standard on old computer.
Thanks.

I have artwork in Adobe Illustrator vector format. It has many layers. While in Adobe AI I tried to scale to 18 percent and it seemed to lose a lot (bits and pieces were missing). I tried to flatten the artwork but it still has all of the layers. Any suggestions? I have other tools like Photoshop CC2015, and AutoCAD 2014. I think it saves as a later version of AutoCAD (Even the dxf file didn’t work). As an ai file it is very crisp and clean.
Maybe there is a prerequisite to flattening?  On a scale of 1 to 10 with Adobe Illustrator; I am about a 4 or a 5.  Thank you for any help.

On Windows 8.1 I had installed Adobe CS6 Master Collection and updated all Adobe products to latest versions within CS6.  I had created a business card using Adobe Illustrator.  All went fine and I had printed the business card.

Just a week ago I had done a fresh install of Windows 10 and re-installed Adobe CS6 Master Collection including all updates to latest version with CS6.

Now when I try to open the same business card, I get the following error:

"The file xxxxxxxxx was generated by a newer version of Illustrator.  Would you like to import this file.  Some data loss may occur"

When I click YES, I get a blank shape of the business card but no content.

Unusual thing is that I had created multiple versions of the business card as I was enhancing and modifying.  Previous old versions of the business card opens just fine on Windows 10 with CS6.  It's just that the latest and final version of the business card is failing to open and giving me the error message.

I am stumped.  I only have xxxxxx.ai version and xxxxxxx.png version of the file.  But obviously I am not able to modify anything in png version.  So what solution do I have?  I definitely don't want to edit previous version because I had modified tremendously and I would have no idea on the dimensions or other elements that I need to modify in the business card.

How do I fix this and why am I getting this error message.  Nothing has changed except for the fact that I went from Windows 8.1 to fresh …

I have multiple users that use adobe CC.  My asset tracking software is telling me that cineRender 14 (mac) was installed.

Is CineRender 14 (mac) a free plugin for adobe CC?

I can't find any information on this on the net.

I'm looking for illustrations of people in flat designs.  Something like the person in this: http://graphicriver.net/item/coffee-shop-banner-/10544406.

Where can I find vector graphics like that?

For vector graphics like these: http://graphicriver.net/item/flat-school-icons/11629389, how do I tone down all of the colors to two or three pastel colors?  End result would be something like the graphics here: http://thetinydesigner.com.

I'm guessing this should be done in Illustrator and not Photoshop.  If Illustrator, what would be a good workflow for accomplishing this?

Hi, I thought this was asked and answered, but it turns out I need more help.  https://www.dropbox.com/s/o5b8oign5av2ypj/clinica-americas-v8.eps?dl=0  I'm using Adobe Illustrator CS5.

That's the eps I'm working with. The problem is, the client wants the shadow to be a darker blue. He really wants it to be as bright as the shadow under the planet, but in a darker color, closer to the continents in the globe.

So, I either need help:

1. Creating a copy of the letters in blue, that looks exactly like the drop shadow I have, but is bluer.
2. Finding a way to make the drop-shadow itself more blue. I've tried turning the darkness to 0, but it does not stay at 0 when I'm using a color.
3. Some other magical way that you know of to create the blue shadow.

Thanks in advance!

I have this logo. Client likes it, but he wants the blue shadow on the text to be darker blue. If I change the color, it looks more gray than blue.  Is there a way to create the same look, but make the shadow on the text more strikingly blue?

Unfortunately, it won't let me upload an eps, so I'm uploading the jpg for now.  Is there a way to upload the eps? Thanks in advance.jpg.

Hello

Using windows cc 2014 (most recent update).

I want to draw the inside of a room using the perspective grid if possible.

I see how it's done using a exterior of a building.  But I need it for inside of a room.  See attached mockup.

I know I've seen a cc tutorial somewhere showing how to use perspective inside a room.  But can't seem to find it today.

Any suggestions and/or links?

Thanks

Hello everyone,

I am trying to alter few photos in Photoshop CS5.1 and, for the most part, I managed to do it
However I hit a wall trying to use Expand or Contract functions under Select-Modify-Expand or Select-Modify-Contract.
What I am trying to accomplish?  Contract the picture in such a way that the subject will look like he was sitting further from the camera.  To my knowledge (very basic in Photoshop) the Contract and Expand are the best functions to accomplish this because both keep the proportion of the picture unchanged so the picture, although smaller, looks very natural.

So I read few article, watched a Youtube short tutorial and follow the instructions .  For testing purposes I use a picture 2" x 3.2"   (50x80 mm)  , kind of ID picture.    Here are the steps I followed

1.  Highlight the background of the picture using either Magic Wand or Quick Selection Tool  (not sure what is the difference, I tried them both)   . Got the dotted line along the contour of the head and shoulders of the person

2.   On menu bar  click on Select - Inverse . By doing this I left the background out so implicitly I selected the person  !

3. Click on Select - Modify - Contract

4. In Contract by, I entered the numer of the pixels  , for example 15

5. The dotted line around the head and shoulders moved inwards. (great, I expected that)

6.  Now what ? What is the next step , where do I have to press to see the real result of the steps above ? Tried many …

How can I maintain some of the quality of an Adobe Illustrator file when I choose “save for web”? The art work was created in Adobe Illustrator, so it is starting out with ultimate quality. When I save as a PGN-24 or GIF file, it turns out looking very fuzzy. Where am I going wrong? Save as something else? Import into something else ( In Design, Photoshop, etc.) and then save?

How do you create a donut (for example) in Adobe Illustrator CC 2014, without whiting out the center (hole).  The way I did it; I created a large circle with “fill” and for the inner circle I had to “fill” with white to cover up the fill of the outer circle. The problem is that I want a transparent background for the web.  Thank you for any help.  Joe

We have a TV to laptop setup in our lobby and need software to display function events, and customizable information with aesthetics in mind.  Does anyone know of any? Or even a media center type computer geared for this? It is not much information we will be displaying so it doesn't need to be super intricate editing software.

Thanks,
