Hi I have worked in the capacity of  Microsoft Exchange server and AD for sometime, but recently have received additional duties and one of them is reading email headers. For example making a determination of why an email was blocked, tagged etc.. on firewall appliance. Any guidance on where I can receive resources to learn RFC's and how internet email work. I don't see a lot of material but only unix resources like postfix and sendmail. I I have been kind of winging it and using google but would like some more formal information about this stuff.

HTML5 and CSS3 Fundamentals

Build a website from the ground up by first learning the fundamentals of HTML5 and CSS3, the two popular programming languages used to present content online. HTML deals with fonts, colors, graphics, and hyperlinks, while CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed.

I set a new IMAP configuration through Outlook 2013 for one of my clients. He originally had a POP3 setup.

My client stated he was wasting allot of time updating his desktop Outlook after he made changes (read, delete, send, etc.) on his iphone, hence the move to IMAP.

The transition was not easy! He had massive custom folders (including sub folders) under his inbox containing client emails over the years. He is basically keeping a history via his outlook. I ran into a ton of problems attempting to restore a PST backup to an OST IMAP account - too long to explain. At a certain point I was moving one folder at a time/counting emails. I finally got to the finish line. All the folders/emails were synced to the online email server.  As I'm about to report the great news, my client tells me he opened a suspicious word document which turned out to contain a virus.

So...I had to buy new drives , and perform a full restore of  recent backed up images. I bring the system back on line, it performs an outlook sync and proceeds to freeze up the on-line email server web account (purchased through a 3rd party vendor). I am now unable to access any folders, or emails either through the web interface (to a 3rd party email server) or through Outlook. I called up the 3rd party, who stated they will refresh their server. I await the results.

In hind sight, I feel like I should have kept those custom folders out of the sync process. At this point, it feels like a total mess.

This should be worth more than points, but here goes.

I have a client who does business with law enforcement and the military.  This company is currently using gsuite for email.  The owner saw a documentary about how google mines his emails for data to sell to third parties and he went ballistic.  To prove the point, we created a new account in gsuite and sent out a couple of emails referencing a fictitious camera by make and model, and we threw in a lens by size.  Within about three minutes, we were receiving ads for this make of camera and lens.  Then, within about five mins, we started getting promo email in the mailbox from B&H photo and others about that make of camera and lens.  The specific model we used wasn't referenced, but that make was.  So, it was clear to him that google is mining the email and he doesn't like it.  That's a lot of typing to say we want to change email providers.

So, the owner reads about Proton mail and I do some research.  I'm not liking the mail living in the cloud and I'm not excited about the mail living in another country either.

In my mind, if you really want to own your email, you need to host it on prem and exchange is the way to go.  I only say that because I'm an exchange guru.  So, the question becomes, if I host the mail in house, on exchange, can I encrypt it?  IF yes, how?  Do I use an appliance like Barracuda or what?

Looking for some feedback on options here.  Options for encrypting email sent by exchange.

Thanks

I have the free AOL account. I am trying to locate an email with attachments that I sent in August 2015. My insurance is claiming they did not get all the pages.  Is there a way to obtain that email? The computer I sent it with, I no longer have.

Please let me know if there is a way to get this old e-mail.

Thank you.

I received an email today (8/12/2018) that appears to have been sent on MAY 5 of this year.

I ran MailWasher as usual and saw this unusual email. Mailwasher wouldn't open it. Fine. I opened Thunderbird, and it did not appear in today's emails.

I opened my Earthlink mail account (that's the address it was sent to) and there was the email - no spam, nothing attached, no problem...except that it was apparently sent on May 5.

What the heck is the deal with THAT and the other dead ends involved in this mess?

Hi Experts,

We recently performed a bulk migration of all shared/resource/mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016, and according to migration report batch, everything was successfully migrated and no errors.

After some weeks, some of my clients are reporting errors within outlook when moving emails from their inbox to a legal corporate application.

This legal application allows people to save all their email/attachments received within the department.

The following error is listed. This particular error occurs when users are trying to move certain email, with images, from an additional mailbox account[their boss]

If this particular email was moved to their own inbox and then processed again through the legal application, the error will not show. After doing numerous test, it was determined that emails with an image within the body caused this error.

This is occurring in office 2013 and 2016 with Windows 7 and Windows 10 machines.   All users in that particular department are experiencing the issue.

Other shared/resource mailboxes and the email infrastructure is OK, no email flow issues, no other issues reported so far.

I received what appears to be a scam email today.

I am aware athena is your password. Lets get straight to the purpose. You don't know me and you're probably wondering why you are getting this e-mail? Neither anyone has paid me to investigate you.

actually, I setup a malware on the xxx streaming (adult porn) site and do you know what, you visited this site to experience fun (you know what I mean). When you were viewing video clips, your browser began working as a RDP with a key logger which provided me with accessibility to your display screen as well as cam. Just after that, my software collected all your contacts from your Messenger, FB, and e-mailaccount. And then I made a double-screen video. First part displays the video you were viewing (you've got a fine taste haha . . .), and next part displays the recording of your cam, yea it is you.

You got two different alternatives. Why dont we go through each of these choices in details:

Very first choice is to neglect this email message. In this situation, I will send your very own tape to every one of your contacts and then think about concerning the humiliation you feel. Keep in mind in case you are in an affair, precisely how it would affect?

Next choice is to compensate me $1000. We are going to call it a donation. In this situation, I most certainly will promptly eliminate your video recording. You can carry on with your way of life like this never happened and you will not hear back again from me.

Amazon Web Services

Are you thinking about creating an Amazon Web Services account for your business? Not sure where to start? In this course you’ll get an overview of the history of AWS and take a tour of their user interface.

Our organization just received the following email, is it legit?  The email appears to have come from @dropbox.com

Hi,

I'm ---, I work on the team responsible for the (my company name) & Dropbox relationship; great to meet you.

We're seeing an increasing number of consumer Dropbox accounts under the (my company name) email domain. Not controlling this usage could potentially lead to the compromising of data, as your team does not have oversight into what is being stored/shared.

Who would be the best person to speak with regarding this?

Thanks,

The user would like to send out a text message to a group of phone numbers.
A quick look on the web brought up  grouptexting.com
There's a $10 monthly and a 45 cent per-message fee, but they are entitled to be reimbursed for their services.

Is there some software that could send out group texts that might be cheaper?

Thanks.

Good afternoon everyone!

I am performing mailbox migrations in a Hybrid environment!

Why am I having a problem in 3 boxes where I do not change 2013 are they? Archive while performing sync is giving the following error.

This Mailbox has 16GB, but this is being used as a mailbox or several users as members.

Migrated data:
Migration rate:
Error: MigrationPermanentException: The file size 104.8 GB (112,571,089,611 bytes) exceeds the destination quota of 100 GB (107,374,182,400 bytes). The file size 104.8 GB (112,571,089,611 bytes) exceeds the target quota 100 GB (107,374,182,400 bytes).

What are the most affordable DNS filtering solution around right now? currently I'm paying about $1 per user but im trying to leave that Vendor.

I know the Synology router has Content Filtering built in but I'm not looking to replace the Cisco 2801 currently being used.

Is there such a thing as an Open source filter out there?

Hello Experts - I am planning to replace our web filtering service next year and wanted to get some ideas and opinions on what works for you.  We're currently using Websense which I've never been a big fan of.  I'd like a solution that does a good job of clearly reporting web activity that can be easily understood by non-technical managers and helps prevent users from accessing sites that they shouldn't, preferably with an easy to use interface.  Please let me know what you think, thanks!

Learn to use the POWER of Mailwasher Pro - Part 2
This is Part-2 of Learning to use the Power of Mailwasher Pro so if you haven't watched Part-1 yet, I urge you to do so before watching this video. Click this link to watch Part-1.

Ok, that out of the way, what we're going to cover here is how to setup additional Email accounts in Mailwasher, along with how to classify what "you" consider to be spam and what you don't. Also, we'll be looking at how we can recover deleted emails, even if you've cleared your Deleted Items folder in Outlook and more.

Remember the old adage of One Man's Rubbish is another Man's Treasure? Well, that's why I dislike Online Spam Filtering services and prefer tools like Mailwasher because it gives me total control - a control that you should have too and in doing so, never having to lose a genuine email again.

Finally, if you found this video helpful, please do click that Thumbs Up button below.

It really helps me out and provides me with positive feedback

With that said, let's get on with the show. I hope you enjoy the video(s)

Enjoy!

Learn to use the POWER of Mailwasher Pro - Part 1
If you, like me, have a dislike for using Online Subscription anti-spam services, then this video series is for you. I have an inherent dislike of leaving decisions such as what is and what isn't spamming to other people or services for me and insist on being able to make those decisions for myself.

Why?

Because as the old adage goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure. This video series is about a tool that I've been using for over 15 years now and as a result, my Outlook inbox has been 99.99% free of spam for many, many years. Yours can be too and it's easier than you may think!

This Video Tutorial shows how to obtain and install a tool called Mailwasher Pro which in this authors opinion, is one of the best Anti-Spam utilities available on the market. As mentioned previously, I've been using Mailwasher for over 15 years now and can honestly say that my Outlook Inbox is 99.9% free of Spam.

This is a multi-part series that goes into not just installation and use but shows you advanced configuration options to train Mailwasher Pro to know exactly what YOU consider to be spam, rather than rely on online services who make those decisions for you.

For those of you that prefer to read articles rather than watch videos, please check out the articles I've written on this topic and published on experts exchange at the following links:

Questions about Thunderbird (Mac)

Can I Collapse All email accounts? I do this manually, and hate all the clicking...

Also, can I re-arrange the Email accounts?

I do not want to Delete them all, then need to recreate them all, then find I have a New Email account and need to do it all over again.

I want them grouped in some fashion.

Thanks

Hello,

In my Exchange Environment I have two servers, Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013.
My public folders located on Exchange 2007 and my mailbox located on Exchange 2013.
Once I click to the public folders I receive and error.
'cannot expend thee folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance.'

At the same time user that his mailbox located on the Exchange 2007 can acsess the public folders.

Thank you.

I'm trying to understand how to track messages around Exchange to thwart phishing attempts quickly.

Is there a way to see if a message was opened?

Is there a way to see if an attachment was opened?

Is there a way to see if a user forwarded a message?

Thank you,

I would like to set up the ability to have all Outlook (POP3 Account) activity sync to my iphone. If I send an email from the smart phone I would like it to show up in the sent folder on my desktop Outlook email account. I would like the same behavior to occur with deleting emails, editing Calendar and contact info.  Is this possible? Am I asking for too much?

I have research different options, including: cloud vs. internal storage, IMAP, 3rd party syncing software, etc.  Before I starting spending a ton of time testing, is there a solution that encompasses all the functionality I mentioned above?

Outlook 2016 only shows emails since Feb. 19, 2018.  Cleared all filters and still only shows emails going back so far.  IMail shows the correct amount of emails.

I have a situation where a supervisor needs to monitor a subordinate's email. The problem is that the supervisor needs to be able to check the messages from an iPhone, and we are trying not to have read receipts go back to the emails of people that send to the subordinate. I have been testing on an unrelated device with an unrelated account, and have gone as far as completely turning off read receipts for the Exchange account in my OWA settings- still returning read receipts, even after 72+ hours of being turned off. I'm not scared of changing Exchange settings, and I'm not scared of powershell. Is there a way to fix this without upgrading Exchange from 2013 to 2016? I know 2016 supports doing this... If there isn't a settings way to change it, can you recommend a transport rule that will accomplish this? I have full control of my Exchange environment. This is working properly on an android, so I think it has to be solved differently for the iPhone. I need the iPhone way to work.
Thanks!
