iOS

iOS is a mobile operating system developed by Apple; it is a derivative of the Mac OS X desktop operating system, with which it shares many (but not all) common frameworks and other components. These include Cocoa Touch, the Mach/Darwin/XNU kernel and code from the Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD). Each iOS application runs in its own secure sandbox to prevent altering other applications, the operating system, or any other data.

I have 2 main InTune app policies for IOS and Android.

Each policy I have targeting all of my mobile users for all of my approved apps with a 60 minute inactivity timeout through access requirements through group membership.

Is it possible to setup another policy with just one of the apps (Excel for example), to grab a lower timeout like 10 minutes?  More or less create another group assignment targeting a set of users to target at 10 minutes for excel as a timeout?

My goal is to get a set of users to be an exception to the main timeout for one app (excel), but still get the main policy for all of the other apps.

Thanks experts!

Is there any way for an email moderator to accept or reject messages from an iPhone's mail app or the Outlook for iOS app or any other mail app?

I had iOS 10 and certain apps from App Store asked me for at least iOS 11. So I made an update these days over WiFi to iOS 12. My iPad was not subject of jailbreak. It is iPad Air first generation with cellular model A1475.
After update to iOS 12 it did not charge anymore while the iPad/iOS was started/on. It was charging only when was turned off.
I decided to repair/update/restore the iOS using PC with Windows 8.1, iTunes latest version and USB cable. It downloaded the iOS 12 latest version on PC, the process started and somewhere at 20% of the process everything stopped with an error 14 as seen below. I repeated the process several times, changed the PC and the cable and I am stuck there. I have tried then all kind of 3rd party software to revive it (for example 3utools) and the Restore process is blocked always at about 20%. I tried again iTunes, but the same bad result. I have read couple of days on internet different pages with suggestions, methods and I think I have tried everything what I have read. Now I am out of ideas and I refuse to believe is a hardware problem
I do not have a backup in PC neither in the cloud and I do not care if the data on it is lost. I just want to have the iPad with a workable iOS, even if it is downgraded to previous versions.
Any suggestions how to revive is appreciated, even if I have to erase everything and re-flash from scratch with any previous iOS.

Itunes error 143utools errorRestore stops at about 20%

iOS 12.1.2. This AM when I attempted to attach a YouTube link to a message via the iMessage app--nothing happened. That is, YouTube wouldn't load in messages, though I can open it via the "basic" screen icon, and download links from vids I open there into messages.

Yes, I closed and reopend the Messages app. Yes, I rebooted the phone. Yes, all other message apps work.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Hello everyone. This is my first post, so I will do my best.

Our organization has around 14k Verizon iPhones of various models and IOS versions connected to Exchange 2010 SP3 via MobileIron. The issue is we have intermittent problems with email syncing with all of the phones. When opening the native Apple mail client, the iPhone tries to sync and sits there for several minutes before giving the error "cannot connect to the server for <mail account name>. Mail can try to repair these settings. Cancel. Repair." Clicking repair attempts to sync again and fails.

Putting phone in airplane mode and back seems to always fix the issue temporarily. The issues occurs on wireless or LTE. Using the MS Outlook client works perfectly and does not experience this issue. Unfortunately, we cannot move to the Outlook client because it is not free for enterprise use unless you are on o365.

Summary of Facts:
  • Issue has been occurring for months now, but seems to be getting worse or just more people are complaining. It's hard to tell when it first started.
  • When looking at the CAS logs for a user when the issue is actually occurring, there are no entries that I see for that user
  • When doing a fiddler capture of the iPhone traffic when the issue is happening does not seem to give any good clues
  • Capturing logs with configurator 2 when issue is occurring does give some possible clues, but maybe this is where some of you could help (
  • logs attached with and without issue, same Iphone)

I need to set up imaging to create a  locked down iPAD profile. That can be distributed / downloaded to standardise these devices.

While I have been provided with a solution using apple image software...…and have a config file.
This will not or is not available to run on the MAC I have (High Sierra), next generation is required, which is unfortunately out with the hardware architecture tolerance.

I will be at my desk tomorrow 09:00 GMT.
And would hope to attempt any implementation recommended.
Any assistance gratefully received.

Hi

I use Twitter, Telegram & RSS feeds to follow new security treats. I also have many groups and users I follow in LinkedIn.

The problem and question:
Each time I start the LinkedIn app all contributions are unsorted. As an example, I have posts that came 1h before, then 6 days ago and the last 2h ago. Why is this so? With Twitter, Telegram, RSS feeds all are sorted as they were posted. The other annoying thing is that when I click the home button it jumps to the uppermost post. Then I must go down to the last post I red. If I still remember it ... :-)

How are you following LinkedIn contributions? Do you use another app?

Thanks for helping me

I need to go through iCloud.com and select multiple pictures to delete at the same time.

I have already downloaded and saved all my pictures to my PC.

I am using Google Chrome on a Windows 10 PC and I have found that while I can select several pictures at the same time by holding down the CTRL key on my keyboard and clicking on the pictures I am unable to delete a range of pictures by clicking one picture and then holding down the SHIFT key while clicking on another picture (to select all pictures in the range).

I don't have access to a Mac computer to login to my iCloud account to do this.

Or is there a way of synchronizing the pictures in my iCloud account with my computer and then on my Windows 10 computer selecting which pictures I want to select and delete?

Or is there any way that I can simply delete all of the pictures in my iCloud account?

You can play macOS audio to multiple speakers throughout your home simultaneously with HomePods. OK, How?

2 HomePods + AirPlay 2

How do I connect second HomePod to play CalmRadio music already playing from CalmRadio on Mac on first HomePod. I am using iOS. 12.1.2 and macOS 10.13.6. I am NOT using iTunes, Apple Music - only CalmRadio with Safari 12.0.2 as a 3rd party music source. Basic issue is I cannot prevent second HomePod from playing music unrelated to what is currently active on first HomePod.

The only exception is the HomePod, which can connect to Apple Music and stream to other AirPlay 2 speakers independently of your phone.

These above ‘exception’ instructions do not seem to work:

Specifically, steps 5 & 6 do not work - HomePod 1 begins unwanted music already playing on second HomePod.

in most articles it states you can work with vs2017, and pair an ios,
when you need to submit your app to apple store they mention you need a mac.

does this now mean,  I need another mac pc to submit the app to the store, or is the mac the ios.

question: when I write xamarin on a win pc vs2017, do I need a mac pc as well, or is one ios phone all I need to develop and submit my apps to applebetore

We have a iPhone with an Exchange account on it from Microsoft Office 365.

In the mailboxes section on the mail app, it is showing 1 unread message in the Conflicts folder.  However nothing is in the folder.

I know I have had this issues in the past and had to delete the account and add it back to the phone.

Is there another way to resolve this rather precarious issue?

In this article on Xamarin, it says an iOS emulator comes with it.

I'm using Visual Studio Enterprise 2015

Do Xamarin tools work with this version of Visual Studio?

Because on this website I only see a download for Visual Studio 2017
https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/xamarin/

If so, anyone know where the download is for Xamarin for Visual Studio 2015?

Photos sent from iPhone are arriving in small size resolution.
AND I used to be able to choose which size it would be sent in.

Example:  I take a photo, I send it and right before I press send, my iPhone asks me if I want to keep it in the original size (usually more than 1 meg) or make it smaller.
Now, I don't get asked what size of image I want to send, it merely gets sent in the small crap size/resolution.
I'm running IOS 12.1

How can I configure (or reconfigure) my iPhone so that I can control the size of the images  I send. Most of the time I want the original size.

I have an iPhone 6, which is running ios 12.1.  I frequently get caught up in text group messages and want to "Leave the Conversation".  There used to be an option to do that under the "info" button at the top of the group message (after tapping the icons for the people in attendance), but now I can't find it.  When I go to "info" I see the list of participants, followed by "Send My Current Location" and "Share My Location", but below that is just "Hide Alerts" and then an Images/Attachments tab (with whatever images were included in the text message below that.  How can I leave conversations?

Thanks,

Phil

Hello, I am developing a type of "note taking" App in iOS for a specific vertical market (its not just a simple note taking App, but note taking is a basic function of the App). A user will use the App to collect data (text and images) and store them in permanent storage (a data file of some sort.)

The iOS App will have a companion desktop application for the Mac, which will take the data in the "data file" collected by the iOS App and perform more analytical processes. So, the system is a two part system. One part is the iOS App. portion (the data collection part) and the second portion is the Mac desktop application part to perform more in-depth analytical functions.

It kind of looks like this  ---   iOS App >>>> (data file) <<<< Mac Application.  [The "data file can be XML, a database, etc.]

*** My question is:   How can I share the "data file" between the iOS device and the Mac portion of the system. By "share" I mean, how do I collect the data on the iOS App, put it into a permanent storage file and then send that file to the custom Mac desktop application?

Note: I am not asking how to share unassociated files between devices.

Also, if anyone has an example of how to create Apps with data storage, for use in CocoaTouch Mac applications, I would greatly appreciate it. I have not found any tutorials that show how this is done in a practical manner.

Thank you for your help.

My iPhone Xs is running iOS 12.1.

How do I remove email addresses that pop up when I am typing in the first few characters of an email address within the To: or BCC: field within an email on my iPhone?

There are certain email addresses that always appear within the email address auto suggestion field that I no longer use that I need to make sure are removed.

What is the easiest way of doing this?

MacBook Pro Model A1707 Intel i7 2.6GHz, 15 Inch, 2016, 16GB RAM  & Intel HD 530 graphics boot but cannot connect to any network (only wireless is an option) and so "crashes" with "a critical update must be installed but cannot connect to network" so all I get it the option to try again or shutdown. So I have a few questions please
1. Is there an option to connect to a cabled network (I do not see any RJ45 connectors on this laptop)
2. I believe the SSD on this laptop is on-board so is there a way to get any user data off this drive if it won't boot in IOS
3. Any other suggestions to get it working again without risking overwriting existing user data.
Thank you.
