When making a mainstream smart phone application today, that is NOT a Mobile App (responsive website), what platforms are there besides iPhone and Android?

I guess I mean "relevant platforms."

Is Blackberry still used by lots of users? And what other ones should I consider?

What development tools exist for these smaller platforms. But I can not use a Javascript framework, since this can not be responsive.

[Webinar] Lessons on Recovering from Petya

Skyport is working hard to help customers recover from recent attacks, like the Petya worm. This work has brought to light some important lessons. New malware attacks like this can take down your entire environment. Learn from others mistakes on how to prevent Petya like worms.

I assume when you have an app that is going to involve money, I automatically presume the iPhone and Android apps need to be Native. True?

I also expect to need to interact securely with hardware elements on the phone, both iPhone and Android. How well do Mobile apps do this?

Thanks

we are trying to get access to a iPhone and be able to access all sent / received and deleted iPhone imessages. Does apple have a record of these messages on a server .. Do they exist? Is there somewhere on the phone that these messages can be accessed?  If they do ... What do I need in order to access this data?

Regards,

goraps.

I've been doing a lot of travelling and road tripping with the family and I always find it hard and time consuming to gather all photos from cameras and iphones into one comfortable experience in front of the television. It's usually a mess to import photos from camera, and my wife, me and daughter's iphone...they mess up the dates and mix up photos and videos. Then later on viewing on my television through AppleTV(gen4) is slow and not a good experience.

I'm using Mac and iphone and has a Sony camera and a Sony television and AppleTV (gen4).

I was thinking of a cloud service or piece of software where I can basically dump all photos and videos from all my devices and it will make sure to present it all nicely on my TV so we can all sit comfortable and enjoy our adventures :-)

I have a user that has recently been unable to use the 'Open in' feature on their IOS (Iphone 6) device.
When opening a PDF from an email, they have the option normally of being able to select the icon in the top right of the screen to show apps that the attachment can open with.
I have selected the more.... option and not found any apps in there.

Is there a fix that anyone has found, or a setting on the iphone i may have missed that has been accidentally turned on\off?

Additional information:

  • Currently using the GOOD for Enterprise app for Corporate email delivery
  • The feature has previously been available
  • The Iphone is fully updated with all IOS updates.

Please let me know if there's any additional information that may assist with this. The person is an executive and i am desperately trying to find an answer, having already spent days poring over forums and not finding a solution.

Many thanks.

I was working with a client/friend and told him to hook up to his iphone 5's personal hotspot. I showed him how to do this and his laptop saw his iphone, but would not hook up. Then we tried to hook up to his wife's iphone 5 hotspot and it would not work. Then he tried to hook up to my iphone 6 hotspot and it worked fine.  Then we restarted his laptop and the two iphone 5's.  Now his laptop DID hook up to the hotspot, but NOT make an internet connection.  His wife's laptop hooked up completely to his hotspot, including internet. We restarted everything with the same result.  We called an IT guy for his laptop and he could not get it to happen either (though his knowledge seemed limited).  He could still hook up fine to my iphone 6 hotspot.  All iphones were running the latest IOS.

Later that day, he called me and said now his laptop DID hook up to his iphone 5 hotspot, then later that day it would no longer do so. I can't figure out why this is happening nor how to fix it or make adjustments on his laptop/Windows 10.  Signal strength was decent to good at all times.

I can not remember how long this problem has existed, but I did upgrade my cell phone from iPhone 6 to 7 a few months ago.

I enter a new contact into Contacts on my El Capitan MacBook, but it never shows up on my iPhone. I make sure to select the

"All iCloud"

choice on the left side, under "iCloud"

What could be wrong?

Thanks.

It's out of warranty, about 2.3 yrs old unit.

My spouse often update the IOS when available but for the
last 6 months, the screen is often not responding: pressing
the power side button to off the screen for 1-2 secs & then
press the button the button again often helps recover
the response of the touch screen but not always.

Is this a hardware (ie touch screen ) issue or IOS issue
& if IOS, reinstall all over will help?

I ever tried pressing the round Exit button & power button
together for 7 secs to reset but this did not resolve the
issue

I know people who travel internationally quite often, and they need to:

1) select the countries of interest
2) view a combined calendar of holidays

I hope this exists.

Thanks

Hi,

We have a staff member who left and the iPhone assigned to her was returned.  Around 3 weeks later we re-assign the device to another staff yet when resetting to factory default it request the previous staff Apple ID password - we thought we had password saved but when used, it didn't work (either we forgot wrote it wrong or the employee changed while in use).  Help.

We made a restore to a new iPhone 7 (the previous has some problems).  That was done yesterday night.  For some reason we used the old iPhone (both are exactly alike) for a series of world we needed to do.  That device made another backup to the cloud late last night.  Now we want to restore that backup to our new phone which has current data from previous backup.  How can we restore last night backup to an iPhone with data?

The subnet calculator helps you design networks by taking an IP address and network mask and returning information such as network, broadcast address, and host range.

Our iOS devices are loaded with Maps.me so that we can use offline maps. We have a spreadsheet with a series of hyperlinks that will launch Maps.me and display the desired location. The Apple version of the hyperlink looks something like "ge0://_X-mwmlX3T/52015_Wood_Pol". If I SMS this link to an iOS device it will work as it should but when we try to launch it from a hyperlink in an Excel spreadsheet we get a message that says "The link address may be invalid, or you may not have permission to open it". I know it's not invalid because it works when copied and SMS'd so it's an issue of permission. Is there any way to get an iOS device to allow a hyperlink launch an app like this, or is that just too much for Apple products to cope with?

Wow, $999 greenbacks for the new iPhone X.  Wonder what Apple's margin is on that phone?

@Nicholas: Good to know about the curved shadow you mentioned! It's been several years since my Android use experience, so my views are definitely a bit outdated. Glad to hear about the improvements like that!

And yeah... I'm one of those kind of crazy, perfectionist types that's willing to spend more for certain highly polished experiences. Really happy that Google developed Android though, so that there's good competition and price ranges! Having only Apple would be pretty insufferable ;-)

not much different to what we pay for a fully loaded iPhone 7, in the UK but in pounds! [off contract!]

after poor Experience with Droid, we are trying iPhones again.....

and we are 6 months into our evaluation, and they are working out better than expected!

Whenever I think of tech that was way ahead of its time, the first thing to come to mind is always the Apple Newton. If you're not familiar with the Newton, imagine an iPhone, but existing in the mid 90's. As one of the first handheld computers, it was innovative and had tremendous potential—but a variety of issues such as the size, cost, and technical limitations caused its demise.

Considering the astronomical success of the iPhone, it's clear that many of the Newton's concepts were solid; we just needed to wait 10 years for the technology to be capable of delivering on the vision. Which is why I think it's the poster child for tech that was way ahead of its time.

What are the steps to add another user's calendar to an iPhone 6 (with iOS 10.3.3)?

Office 365 is being used to host both of these email accounts.

Is there any way of doing this other than adding the other user's Office 365 account to this user's iPhone (and choosing only to sync the other user's Office 365 calendar? This is a security risk since we don't want the user with the iPhone to go into the account settings and be able to download and reply to the other user's emails).
