Hello,

After reading through McNkife's article https://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/24599/Free-yourself-of-your-administrative-account.html I have some questions on how it relates to YubiKey.

I'm using Windows 10 Pro in a workgroup setting where I have only two accounts in Windows: a user account and an admin account (the default administrator account renamed per Microsoft recommended Best Practices). The user account has YubiKey assigned to it and I was about to do so for the admin account but I'm not sure about a couple of items I have included below:
  • Can the YubiKey work in a no password scenario?
  • If I assign the YubiKey to the admin account will that require the YubiKey for every elevation prompt?
  • Is having the YubiKey assigned to the admin account even bettering my security if I apply the article above to my machine - Are there any viable benefits?
  • If the settings annotated in the article above go wrong (get corrupted) is there a potential to be locked out of the admin account forever - what are the downsides (if any) to this idea expressed in the article

I have an IT helpdesk, and i would like not to give the staff there  Administrator rights, but rather as following:
- rights to install and run software on workstations
- rights to login to servers in "read only" mode, with possibility to run limited applications ( allow them to run for instance Event Viewer so they can check logs), maybe some backup app., but no other rights on servers

Thanks

looking for some sort of checklist or ideas in terms of criteria in which to critically appraise the performance of our IT service, which is partially in house and certain functions outsourced. I know there are obvious areas such as time to resolve incidents/service requests, uptime of critical apps etc. But was hoping if you work in a contract monitoring type role where you outsource certain IT functions if you have any criteria in which you audit/assess the relevant team against.

we want to implement electronic signatures for documents that our sales team sends out.  I have research DocuSign developer website briefly and found some rest APIs and SDKs that seem like they would accomplish our goals.

I wanted to see if any of you experts out there have been through a similar situation and if so what worked for you.  I really would like to find the best fit for our needs.  Thanks!

We are having a strange issue with Outlook 2016 on  Win10 domain joined computer.  The issue is when trying to create a new profile Outlook will crash when "searching for user.com setting".  It seems like its having an issue with autodiscovery but, I  can set that same user up on another machine with out an issue.  We also notice that when it crashes the our on-prem Exchange server shows to "Bad Password Counts" against it.  The users account has not been changed in several months and if we put outlook 2013 on the 10 machine it works fine.  I have a ticket with Microsoft but, they are not helping much, they are asking me to do the same stuff I have found online doing my own research.  I am just wondering if anybody else has seen this.

When testing connectivity everything seems fine but the issue seems to be between the client and Exchange.  We have one Exchange server and its on prem we don't have any cloud based hosting for email.

Any help or other troubleshooting tips would be helpful.

Thanks

I just bought a montior stand and I'm trying to figure out exactly what kind of screws I need, and whether both of my monitors use the same screws.

I have an LG 34UM58 monitor, and a Samsung P245OH as well.
I also have a samsung LU28E510DS/ZA, so I need a dual monitor stand that supports both of my large monitors.

I currently have this stand, but it' won't work.
https://www.amazon.com/Monitor-Adjustable-Computer-Management-HUANUO/dp/B072J1CSCD/ref=sr_1_49_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511889498&sr=1-49-spons&keywords=dual+monitor+stand&psc=1&smid=A1W1TYQC4XP3K1

Any idea's what type of screws I would need to mount these monitors?

So what solutions do other IT organizations use out there for sharing passwords for things like service accounts, among an IT organization without simply creating a shared word document that could get copied or leaked, even if file restrictions were in place on it?

Of particular note are some outsourcing partners that may need access to some passwords, but not all.

Thanks for any ideas!

Over the past year, I have purchased MS Visio 4 different times using Volume Licensing Services.

When I look in the Volume Licensing Services website, it shows that each of the keys has 50 activations available.

A couple of the purchases were for multiple users.

How do I track if I still have licenses available?, since my understanding is:

1) The same user can install MS Visio on both their laptop and desktop and only require one seat.
2) The totals are activations and not users. So If I purchase a new computer for a user, and install the same key on their new computer, it now shows as a 2nd activation even though only 1 license is required.

For example, one purchase was for 2 user licenses. I can see that the activation count is 2, but is that a laptop and desktop for the same user or 2 separate user installs.

We are an Microsoft Exchange environment .  We use Active sync to sync our 80 devices (iphones and Samsung galaxies) with exchange, Periodically ( 2 or 3 times a year ) I would delete/cleanup old  c$\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1 and also the W3SVC2 and W3SVC3 folders. They would have a tremendous amount of files and each file could be 30 MB or so.
Now in those folders the files are over 300 MB each and I have to cleanup these folders monthly.
I understand these are log files,  Is my exchange server a problem ? or are some of the smartphones having problems ?
What can I look at to see why these files have now grown 10 times what they were.

Any info is appreciated

I changed the setting on a friend's system to enable auto fill in the Google Chrome settings. We checked it on a few web pages and it was fine. Now he says there is no auto fill. I've seen the instructions on how to set it with an article found using Chrome search.

Why does the setting not hold?

My organisation uses Office365 for email.  I'm wondering if the administrator is reading my emails.  If she gave herself permission to my mailbox, would these permissions appear in Folder Permissions ?
