IT Administration is the processes and best practices for programming and development, and incorporates methodologies for managing activities and projects. Common methodologies include waterfall, prototyping, iterative and incremental development, spiral development, rapid application development, extreme programming and various types of agile methodology. The life-cycle "model" is a more general term for a category of methodologies, and a software development "process" a more specific term to refer to a specific process chosen by a specific organization.

When I open Dell OpenManage Server Administrator, it is correctly showing the inventory of the server, except for the physical and virtual disks on the machine. Instead, it is showing me the physical and virtual disks and RAID-5 array on a DIFFERENT machine. I have tried opening OMSA with localhost, the IP of this machine and its name, I have checked that NSlookup is only reporting the IP of this machine. Is there some way to force it to check the inventory again? I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now.

Which of these resources do colleges and universities use to get rid of old IT equipment at end of life? E-waste recyclers (using what recyclers)? IT resale options (using what resellers)? Charities (using what charitable organizations)?

What is the best software for auto-generating nice network diagrams
with least effort for busy network engineer? I really like Netbrain but
I couldn't afford that as an individual (used it at a large company).
Plus I don't need the monitoring and troubleshooting parts of
netbrain. I just need excellent discovery and map drawing. Any
recommendations?

Windows 10 critical update 1709 computer goes into a restart loop and the only solution I have found is the following:
1: system restore ( however sometimes this does not work)
2: reset the computer and reload the programs.
3. Reload windows totally and all programs.

My question is there a better  solution then doing any of these or does any one have a answer that I’m missing please help if you can we are sinking in the Microsoft terror!!

Is there a way to default UPN to the user@company.com while manually creating a user in AD?
Currently is defaulting to @ad.company.com in the user login name.  So we need to change it in drop-down menu every time.
This is in Windows Server 2016 Std Edition Domain Controller.
Please advice.  Thanks.

we are looking at controls for a new HR and Payroll system. We need to ensure users permissions in the system are free from fraud/misuse, through effective separation of duties and granting of access permissions. Are there any specific types of permission in HR and payroll systems where no one officer should be able to perform multiple tasks without a secondary officer involved, e.g. separation of duties/'high risk' functions from a fraud/inappropriate use angle.

Hi Expert Team,

I need help to automate a SQL database alert generated from SCOM . We used to get an alert  'database backup should be performed' for SQL database servers. But in our project we have Always-on cluster(Mirror) database servers and database backups are performing on Primary  database servers. But SCOM is complaining the same for secondary databases and many such alerts are generating from SCOM.  All these SCOM alerts we receive as incidents in ticketing tool via Orchestrator2012. Our goal is reduction of  such incidents. Therefore i want to automate this kind of  alert to identify which is primary database and trigger alert for only primary database servers and not for secondary database servers. . Is it possible to resolve within SCOM console or can we do anything in Orchestrator2012.

Please guide me how to automate.

Thanks for support!!!
Regards,
Sreenivasa

There's request to open up ACL (audit command language) tool to Internet from an internal zone server (ie not in DMZ) for periodic licensing validation.

 if we go through bluecoat proxy, will it work & is this considered secure?  Or it's better this server is moved into DMZ (but this is not an option as this server's
IP will change & we have to unjoin it from AD as we don't have an AD in our DMZ or rather it's blocked)

 Planning to restrict to specific URL for outgoing only (or is incoming port required too)?

Someone asked me "What are some system and network admin interview questions I should be prepared to answer?"  I have no idea.  What can I refer them to or suggest?

I'm trying to get a daily report of mailbox delegates that have been added from the prior day. I can run the report manually, and use something like Notepadd ++ to compare.

Is there a way to automate this, or a better way to run it?

I am looking for a setup in a cubicle rental office

Clients rent out a cubicle on a per month base and get a computer with some applications included in the monthly payments.
I am Looking for a quick and efficient way to quickly get a machine running for the costumer, and when the customer leaves get the machine bake to a clean installation (with the applications) ready for the next costumer. And with as low of investment possible.

I was thinking of the following, but not sure if it’s available and recommended.

Have a cheap server just for AD DNS and GPO [deployment rule]. Then create a hyper v machine template configured the way it should be delivered to the costumer. When renting out a cubicle deploy a Virtual Machine from a Template on the server to the desktop at the costumer’s desk (window 10 support hyper v), and when the customer leaves bring down the vm and deploy a new one.

The other option would be doing an image, but is no more recommended by Microsoft and thy recommend using configuration service provider

Terminal server or having the vm on the server would require a expensive server security liability, and no down time on the server.

Server 2016
looking at about 35 cubicles

Hello everyone,
I have a strange problem.  I have configured a group policy to enable folder redirection.  The user account is in the appropriate OU and I did not change any permissions on the delegation tab.  I am able to ping the DC and ping the server that it is redirecting to by host name.  This has been tested on two different computers and it is still not working. Any ideas?

Looking for 5-10 areas to go over with them, not so much interview questions as they will know that but best areas to concentrate on,

Thanks

One of the Experts here on EE suggested GFI Languard.  So, we bought it and have  had it running for a few months.  As I get further into it and want to take advantage of its capabilities, I naturally have questions.

Being a "good customer" I figured to start on the community forum.  But I can't log in and I can't set up a new account.  I have LOTS of email addresses available and can set up new ones.  Yet, no matter which one I enter for a new Registration, it says "already used".  Can't be true of course.

Telephone customer support takes one to a menu that has nothing to do with customer support and, if you politely wait after not responding, it says "Goodbye".

I may be in the market for 3rd party Q&A at least.  Or, what might you suggest?

Hi All,

I am searching for a support system for a small team of around 10 users.  The features that I would like are:

Integrate with our website so that users can log and create/update support requests;
Create groups for support requests;
Real-time instant messaging;
Customer Database;
Mobile phone app;
Used with a support email address;
To be installed locally;

I have tested many systems but cannot find a system with all these features.  I am looking for something that we can host and pay an annual support fee for.

Any help and suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

hi guys,

I'm currently managing an IT Operations team. I've been asked by our new head to come up with a way for me/us to measure in some shape or form their progress on a weekly basis.

We use Zendesk for our ticketing system which is very comprehensive. He wants us to find a way of knowing, how many particular jobs were started, closed, including things such as 'what got in the way?'. Along with that, he wants to know a way of measuring project progress in a similar way.

Do you guys have any measuring methods that you use at your work places? Or advised others on how to better do something similar?

Thanks for helping

As a technician in some cases I need to access a hard drive externally, so I am looking for a USB Hard Drive Docking Station. there is lot of them on the market but looking for one that has the best capabilities of reading (even troubled hard drives to the best possible), also Dual-Bay with Offline Clone [reliable]. and if available (not sure if there is) from a larger size drive to a smaller size [as long the date is less than the target drive].

Any recommendations from experience?
