Dears,

I am about to embark in the management of my company using JIRA tools.
I have been using trello, Smartsheets,Axosoft , Todoist.Assembla and toodledo.
So I do have some experience with Agile/Kanban.
I have set up JIRA yet I am faced with some "organizational dilemma".
My setup is as follows :
we are 4Developers.
2 fully dedicated to developing
1-Developing + managing the company (tasks/prioirities)
1 Developing + help desk

We are now managing around 30 Customers and we also have our own project (a New software to be launched in 2019)
I got JIRA software + confluence +Service Desk +Tempo Planner.
My question is how to configure JIRA.
1-Do I create a project per customer ? and if yes how to aggregate them later on ?
2-How to link the Service Desk to my project (s) - If I allow 1 customer to post on JIRA Desk shouldn't that ticket be also showing in the project

As you see my problems are related to "business" configuration. And I am expecting to need some help with this.
Where can I get that help ? Coz reading the JIRA help won't be enough. It helps me understand how the tool work , but not what is the best way to configure it !
Thanks

Wanted to know how to setup pass-through authentication for our internal use websites and applications.

Examples: Microsoft Teams / Jira / Confluence / Outlook (Office365)

For internal application websites, is it as easy as setting up a GPO?

Anyone know if there's a way for team members to quickly toggle swimlane display in a JIRA board on or off? It can be nice to have the swimlanes, but sometimes we just want to view the board without them...

I would like to get data from Jira using an RSS Feed. What do I do once I get that?

Is it s file? Is it an on-going stream?

I use Windows at work, so a Windows solution would be appreciated.

Thanks

We have a Salesforce instance (cloud) and a JIRA (inhouse) server. I want to push data from Salesforce to JIRA using REST. The problem is our firewall. We want to leverage an existing URL that we already use to PUSH Salesforce data to an inhouse app using SOAP. Let's pretend this url is https://salesforcein.myco.com.  The standard REST url for JIRA is jira.myco.net/rest/api

How can I hit https://salesforcein.myco.com from outside and somehow bridge it over to jira.myco.net/rest/api  ? I'm not a network guy but I plan on forwarding the solution to our network guys.

Thanks
Mike

Hello,

How can "Issue" "Status" be changed from "TO DO" to "IN PROGRESS" automatically after "Log work" is submitted ?

Hi all,

How can I configure Atlassian Jira so that it can check incoming email ?

In the jira config page, I cannot see exchange server icon ?

And I cannot enable POP & IMAP on the Exchange server due to security issue it may have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Build and deliver software with DevOps
Build and deliver software with DevOps

A digital transformation requires faster time to market, shorter software development lifecycles, and the ability to adapt rapidly to changing customer demands. DevOps provides the solution.

I want  to develop a tool which would execute jobs in unix( may be putty)  with few parameters passed and return the logs. if it passes it would execute any test cases related to it in ALM/JIRA. what all tools/languages can i use? Any suggestion welcomed.

We're moving from Rally to Jira and have the export set up so we can move projects from Rally to Jira quite well.  Any fields not mapped are put straight in the description field.  We are using this method - https://help.rallydev.com/jira-installation-user-guide

However, we now have stories/defects that include test cases.  I haven't seen or used the test case functionality in Jira.  It looks like there are add-ons to create this functionality.

My question is, do you have any advice for either using Jira as-is for test case functionality (e.g. modifying workflow) and exporting those test cases from Rally to Jira?  Or, using an add-on, and is it possible to export from Rally to Jira for the add-ons?  Is there a recommended add-on for test cases - particularly one thats similar to Rally?

Hi Experts,
could you suggest free alternative to JIRA (Issue / Defect) management please?

Can we attach files? can we add dependencies? Basic Dashboard, Basic reporting etc.

thanks in advance

I installed JIRA om Raspberry PI 2  using the  following guides:
https://www.mininodes.com/how-to-install-jira-on-an-ubuntu-arm-server/
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira061/jira-installation-and-upgrade-guide/connecting-jira-to-a-database/connecting-jira-to-mysql

It all seemed to be working fine, I connected it to mysql running on the same Raspberry PI 2 and then attempted to install the Jira license. Then the whole thing crashed and I got a web page saying:

The following plugins are required by JIRA, but have not been started:
Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - Gadgets Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.gadgets)
JIRA Projects Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.jira-projects-plugin)
Atlassian Navigation Links Plugin (com.atlassian.plugins.atlassian-nav-links-plugin)
Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - Issue Search (com.atlassian.jira.jira-issue-nav-plugin)
Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - Quick Edit Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.jira-quick-edit-plugin)
JIRA Project Config Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.jira-project-config-plugin)
Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - REST Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.rest)

RPC JIRA Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.ext.rpc)
Gadget Directory Plugin (com.atlassian.gadgets.directory)
Gadget Dashboard Plugin (com.atlassian.gadgets.dashboard)

I then turned off Jira;
#atlassian-jira-6.4.2-standalone/bin/stop-jira.sh

 And I then saw this;

I'm looking into a task tracking solution for our team, and SP 2013 has come up (along with  JIRA).

Is anyone aware of any benefits of SP over JIRA? I understand SP has more capabilities in terms of workflows, but wondering how this works.

Essentially:

List task/owner/due date
Some method to notifiy when a task is approaching due date
Some method where tasks can be inter-related to each other (e.g. dependencies)
Ability to filter by user/task/priority
A programatic way to add tasks rather than manually (e.g. can we build a front end using Powershell to automatically add new tasks)

Hello

I am looking for the following in a platform:

i. Document management system (DMS) - currently, our team stores documents on personal drives, shared drives and so on which makes it hard to access! Whichever DMS system we use needs to be easy to search, find, view documents. I did like SP 2013's document preview option.

ii. Wiki/ FAQ functionality

iii. Task Management - At the moment, we use JIRA. Does either confluence or SP 2013 have any of this capability?

iv. Multiple users access and edit the same document at the same time - e.g. during team meetings?

Other nice to haves:

v. Outlook integration - the ability to move a file from Outlook to the DMS (requirement 1), rather than save it and then store it

vi. Mobile integration

Curious what one platform offers over the other.

I am working with a ticket software that provides a customer portal, but the url of the portal is way too complex for users to remember.

The software is JIRA Service Desk, by the way, and the feature to customize the url of the customer portal has not yet been given an ETA, and I do need to change the url that my customers will use to access the portal.

Let's say that the url now is http://it/servicedesk/category/project/portal/8;

I would like for my customers to only have to type http://it in the address bar of the browser and the url would resolve to the http://it/servicedesk/category/project/portal/8.

I did see something about IIS being able to do this with url rewrite but never did any configuration of the sort, and would like to ask for some help on that.
Does IIS have to be installed on the same server the software is?

I still am open to any easier way to achieve this rewrite.
Any help is appreciated.

Best regards,
Luis Carvalho

I use the gmail interface on Chrome browser because I am a Google Apps customer.
I would like to 'mark' emails as complete and have them move into other folders when I do that.  I imagine I will need to set up filters and labels to achieve this.

eg of what I would like to achieve:

I click on a new email.  Read the information.  It is an email from Atlassian JIRA system.  After I read the email I want to click a button and have it disappear from my inbox and move to a folder I have set up called Atlassian JIRA.

The problem I am trying to solve is retaining the emails in separate folders so I don't have to delete them or manually drag them out of my inbox to the folder I want them to go in to.  I do not want them to be incoming to separate folders.

Is this possible?
How can I set this up?

I have a server in my internal network that hosts Jira, which is from:  https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira we can access it from outside the network because DNS is pointing to it, but inside my network I need to be able to access it by simply typing jira in the browser.  Currently I have to put in http://nsca-jira then it will resolve.  What do i need to add to my internal DNS to make just typing jira in the browser address bar get to the jira service?

we bought this crappy ticketing tool named jira and for some god awful reason, it sends mail via POP3.  So, the service account we created for Jira has to have pop3 enabled.

a previous admin tackled this problem a few weeks ago and today, I found out that he ran some sort of powershell and enabled pop3 for every mailbox in the domain.  While this isn't earth ending, it makes some people uncomfortable so I've been asked to turn it off for everyone EXCEPT this Jira account.

I need some help making that happen.

Thanks

I have 2 CentOS 6.7 servers. One of them has MySQL installation with Attlasian JIRA database. I need to replicate Attlasian Jira MySQL database to the second server so that I can properly make a backup. Replication interval should be 1 hour.

However I know, that Jira is installed and listening. The output of netstat -nap | grep LISTEN

Hi,

I am using windows 2008 server now.
I am looking at this tutorial in which he just types http://localhost:8080 and this connects to Jira's login page.
http://localhost:8080 changes to http://localhost:8080/secure/Dashboard.jspa.

When I typed http://localhost:8080 on IE address bar, I got "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error.
I opened the port 8080 using Inbound Rules as you can see below.

How can I make this work?

I am running a JIRA server behind a apache web server and using rewrite with proxy flag to serve it.

I have below entry in httpd.conf

#Rewrite rule for JIRA
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^jira.example.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://54.55.56.57:8080/$1 [P]

But when I access jira.example.com then the URL in my browser changes from jira.example.com to http://54.55.56.57:8080. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I do not want URL to be changed
