I perform SSH to a remove linux server with a private key. Since I have a large pool of servers to ssh. I have also have two private keys used by these servers. but only subset uses the 2nd private key.

My request now is
I would like to add a logic in my calling shell script... if ssh failed with below error. Try with the 2nd private key. please help
Guessing, should handle the return code and determine to use 2nd key.

Is there a way on a Linux Server to set up a monitor to watch all incoming and outgoing traffic?

Kind of like watching a running log of all of the inbound requests and then what is being sent out?

Hello Everyone,

I am currently looking for a way to manage password complexity & logins defs across 50+ CentOS 7 servers. Our environment is mostly Windows based and none of us are Linux experts, but know enough to be dangerous. I have an audit requirement that is forcing me to change my password complexity and login defs on these servers to match what we have in GPO for our Windows servers.

I could do this manually, but I would rather find a way to manage these CentOS machines in some centralized way to make it consistent and rule out possible errors when doing it 50+ times. Are there any platforms that would allow me to do that? I have been able to connect a test CentOS server to my AD environment using realmd, but I believe that only allows me to connect using domain creds. I don't believe that enforces anything at the CentOS config level. So, before I start making changes to the two items above, one by one, I wanted to see if anyone knew of a tool or script I could use to make these changes (and possibly audit them) from a central location.

I have done some research, but since I don't know enough about these tools or Linux in general I wanted to get some outside thoughts/advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Suddenly, my monitor has started flickering.   I have an nVidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti connected to an Asus PA328 monitor Display Port.   I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.   Suddenly, my display has started flickering.   I had tried Ubuntu without installing it, and that seems to be when the flickering started in Windows.   I do not know if there is a connection.

I would like to put a timestamped separator in the cron log at midnight:

(blank)
==================== 23 March 2020 ====================
(blank)

I've put an echo line into /etc/crontab, and that sends me an email that I don't want.

I've put an extended line into the crontab prefacing the echo line with { MAILTO=""; (echo here); } and that still sends the unwanted email.

I've written a script with MAILTO="" and echo lines in it which works splendidly on the console and does not send the unwanted email, but puts nothing into the cron log file.

goofling around produced no immediate results.  But Debian does something close to this, because the cron log was showing single-line timestamps when I brought the system up -- and then discovered how to disable, which I did by deleting instead of commenting out.

Is there a simple way to do this?

I installed Elementary OS on my ThinkStation D30. Problem is, it locks up at about 30 seconds every time I boot it. There are also other things I don't like about it.

So I want to try Fedora, but when I put the Fedora Live CD in and boot the machine, it goes straight back into Elementary OS.

How can I force it to boot to the Fedora DVD?

Thank you in advance!

Please consider following 'C' language program.  In function InitUnlock( ), msk is typecasted to port_lock_t.  msk value isn't contained in port_lock_t.  Therefore, this typecast should give warning or error?  To compile this program I typed:   gcc -Wall port_lock.c -o port_lock

Hi Guys, I have created a NTP server on a Centos 7 machine.
I've configured it to support the networks I need it to support,
and then I enabled the service and started it. All worked great, my ESXi hosts were syncing as expected and everything was great.

Then, I had to restart the NTP server and I noticed something strange, even though the service is enabled, it doesn't start at system start.. I have to manually start the service each time.
Could any of you help me figure out why?

OS: CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908

NTP Version: ntp.x86_64  4.2.6p5-29.el7.centos

Service Status at system boot:
[root@ornntp ~]# systemctl status ntpd
● ntpd.service - Network Time Service
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)

Service Status after manual start:
[root@ornntp ~]# systemctl status ntpd
● ntpd.service - Network Time Service
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: active (running) since Thu 2020-03-12 11:37:34 IST; 10s ago
  Process: 9318 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/ntpd -u ntp:ntp $OPTIONS (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
 Main PID: 9319 (ntpd)
   CGroup: /system.slice/ntpd.service
           └─9319 /usr/sbin/ntpd -u ntp:ntp -g

No error at service start or in journalctl

I have a Debian 10 server with a phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin Docker container on it which points to a Amazon RDS database. Currently whenever I log in to the phpmyadmin website it is using port 80 and it is unsecure. Is there a way when I pull the phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin to have it use a secure connection from my computer to my phymyadmin website? I'm sure I can change the port to 8080:443 but won't I need a certificate?
Thanks

Current command to pull:
sudo docker run --name phpmyadminone -d -e PMA_HOST=myrdsdatabaseserverxxxxxxxxxxxx.com -p 8080:80 phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin
