Question about apple ids

We've generally just setup people with their own apple id, but now we are using apple business manager, should I setup these users in apple business manager and give them a new user id? since I cannot re-use their other one? or can apple attach their user id to my business manager account? Do I set them up as staff?

Not sure the best way to manage my organizations apple ids
I have a MacBook Pro (2017) running 10.14.4.

For the first time in a month I shut it down on Friday. I went to start it up on Sunday morning and haven’t been able to boot.

After going through a couple restore attempts, and with the latest one saying it was successful, I am still getting the same results: a Black Screen with a White listing bar and the white “dot circle”. This eventually got to flashing between the black screen and a cursor in the upper left.

Please help me. I have time machine backups as event as Thursday. Any suggestions would be immensely helpful.
I have a Macbook Air mid 2011 (model A1369) and a MacBook Pro 2017.  I would like the MB pro to connect to the old MBA (which has a broken LCD screen so cannot view it properly) and see the display contents.

Can I do this wirelessly.
Refer to attached screen.  Majority of the storage utilization is under  "Others".

My teen kid's Macbook Pro  ran out of storage space & she can't install a new dmg.
She doesn't store much video, some photos.

She watches a lot of movies, could it be there are lots of temp files under "others"?
How can we housekeep / free up more space on the 250GB drive?

I have a 2012 MacBook Air which will not power on normally. If the case is removed and the battery is disconnected then it can be powered on when running on AC power. Once successfully powered on, the laptop can be shut down and the battery reconnected, then it will power on from battery power once. The battery holds a charge and seems fine. It discharges at a normal rate and charges normally if connected to AC power. If powered down on battery power, then the laptop will not power on till the battery is disconnected and it is connected to AC power.

Troubleshooting done:
I have reset the SMC (After your Mac shuts down, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds.) and I've reset the NVRAM (Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. Turn on your Mac. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound. Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.)

Has anyone come across this issue and know what the possible cause/fix is? Thanks
There is a need to copy the contents of the desktop contents of MAC to a Synology Server.
All on the same internal network.
When using software such as SyncBack Pro, it produces various errors which prevent some but not all files to be copied.
Access is denied for some files, since they cannot be copied I believe due to permissions.
How can I copy the files without it's permissions,  using either SyncBack Pro or another software program which runs on a Windows computer to backup those desktop MAC files to a Synology share?
Thank you.
Update to Office Mac Mini systems

I am looking for general office update info. I am the only user of these systems

Currently I have 2 Mac mini (late 2012 & late 2014) both running macOS Mojave

Late 2014 has 2 non-4k displays from earlier Windows PCs & 8Gb RAM

Late 2012 has 1 non-4k display  from earlier Windows PC & 8Gb RAM

Each has Acronis backup to local 2TB HD and Apple Time Machine Backup

My computer work is > 95% working with text documents (Pages, Word) and email.
Image work is limited to infrequent iPhone image touchup with Affinity Photo + output to SmugMug.
Swift Publisher is also used to enhance document layout.

My thought is to have 1 Mac Mini with more than 8Gb RAM [16 Gb?) and using all 3 displays for multitasking Pages/Word/etc. documents. I am looking for faster response time to input which is currently *very* slow to activate. System startup time is minutes…

Seems a 2018 Mac Mini has considerably more processing power than I need

I would appreciate Mac Mini model (Year) and Memory (RAM) recommendations.
I'm looking for a good way to periodically update the password for a local admin on the Macs across the enterprise. We have a local user created as a backup in case there are issues. We want to change that password every few months in case someone gets a hold of it.
When I get outlook meetings via email or when I register to an event (*.ics), it get placed to a calendar not my own (I have my calendar and icloud calendar).  I want to always have them place in iCloud calendar; how can do this?
Hello - I am having trouble syncing my Mac photo albums with my iPhone 8. It was syncing a few weeks ago, but now appears to have stopped syncing updates to my photo albums and photo library from Mac to iPhone. The calendar still syncs, but photos do not. I have no idea why this could be. I have everything turned on (i.e. Photo Stream and iCloud Photos) on both my Mac and iPhone. Both area also completely up to date. The Mac just suddenly stopped syncing my photo album updates with my iPhone. Do you have ANY idea whatsoever why this might be? Help!
I've been asked to help with a iMac showing the beachball and being very slow.
The problems started after installing security update 2019-002 and Safari 12.1.
The OS was Sierra (10.12) first, then updated to Mojave (10.14) which did not solve the problem.

I have a screenshot of Activity Monitor:
There I see Safari is using 30.31 GB of memory and 29.64 GB compressed memory, 8 threads, 358 ports.
Memory pressure is red, general information about memory is
8 GB physical
7.54 GB used
  953.4 MB app
  1.10 GB wired
  5.50 GB compressed
459.3 MB cached files
662.0 MB swap

All accounts on that machine are affected.

I assume that heavy swapping is going on, slowing down the iMac. (I don't know whether it has a SSD or a HDD.)
However, what I don't understand and what puzzles me, is how Safari can use 30 GB of memory when there is only 8GB physical and only 662 MB swap space (that being "The space used on your startup drive by macOS memory management.").

That's my main question. But of course, any help on how to go about solving the problem is very much appreciated, too.
I need a GUI client for sftp on MAC.
I have downloaded cyber duck. And i could connect to a sftp machine with port 22.

Please help in suggesting some way to connect to this through some GUI client.
Mac isn't showing other users so another user can't login to the Mac.

The mac was binded to Windows Active Directory to allow users to login with their domain account. We have found that sometimes the option to login with another account just disappears and does not reappear even with a restart to the Mac. The temporary work around I've found is that if I login with the local admin account and just go through the same steps of binding the Mac (Even though it has been binded already) and then just log out the Other User option appears on the login screen.

So my question is there a more permanent fix so this doesn't keep happening?

MacOS 10.14 Mojave
Using Quickbooks for Mac 2016.  When I open one of my company files, the Customer Center window opens, because I had it open when I last closed Quickbooks.  Then I see 3 or 4 other windows open and disappear (a Deposit window, a Timesheet window, I think.)

When the window-opening animations complete, the one open windows can be dragged into new positions, but not resized, and not closed, and does not recognize any mouse or keyboard interactions.  The program itself displays every menu item as hidden.  I have to Force Quit Quickbooks to take it down.

I tried reinstalling the program, but I get the same behavior.  Odd, because this company file was working fine just two days ago.  I back up every time I close the file, and I've tried restoring some recent backups, but they behave the same, even backups taken from a week ago.    Not sure what to do next.

My macbook sometimes does not goto sleep when I close the lid when on battery mode.  No settings have changed.  This is intermittent.  Any ideas?
I have a 21.5 i5 iMac that I want to sell.  (5 years old and hardly been used possibly 6 months).   How do I reinstall the OS so that all of my files are completely no longer
accessible on this computer?
How to block all push notifications from websites etc on my mac book (which appear from right side edge) and permanently switch off this type of notification completely?
Time Machine couldn't complete backup to "[Name] Time Machine"

With 2 Macs (Mojave), I am unable to continue Time Machine backups. I have to erase drive to continue.

Seems in the past with earlier OSX versions I could rely on Time Machine to delete older files and continue with backup.

Why not now? Can I automate the erase/restart backup procedures?
Hi guys

My father's 27inch early 2011 imac needed a little upgrade. I went and put in a Crucial 500gb SSD disk into it into where its old hard drive used to be.

When we boot, i am getting the question mark with a folder. I tried holding the Alt option and in doing so only the internet recovery comes up. I tried command R and same thing.

Anyway, so I chose the internet recovery. It took 20mins. Then it came to the menu where I could choose disk utility. I went in and could see the SSD.  I formatted my SSD to Mac format (journaled). I restarted it and still same. Then i tried doing something similar to choose it as the startup disk but I can't. I tried attaching an external disk with Mac Sierra installation on it. It isn't giving me the option of seeing this disk either at startup.

What gives? Is it the Mac itself? Should I take the SSD and install it onto a MacBook Pro and try putting the OS on it that way?

Thanks for helping
HI there,

i'm trying to get an iMac running OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) to boot up again. It was constantly freezing up with the a continous spinning wheel so i was recommended to "Repair Disk Permissions", after doing this it will not boot back up again. It boots into recovery mode, asks me which language i want to use then i get

Disk Utility
There is no Time Machine backup so i opened Disk Utility and ran the various verify/repair disk & have included screenshots of the results.
I also ran diskutil list from Terminal & included the screenshot aswell.
I guess first think i'd like to know is if it's possible to back up my files from here & secondly is it possible to get it to boot up again without reinstalling. Also is this a sign that the hard drive needs repalcing?
I'm a novice with Macs & OS X so be as detailed as possible please & as always all help is much appreciated.

I have an issue with disappearing shortcuts of shared folders between two mac machines. Here is the case in details:

On MAC1 there are 10 folders on the desktop that are shared on the network. They are accessible and visible on MAC2.

When I created shortcuts on the desktop of MAC2, they work fine until MAC1 is rebooted. Then a warning message appears and shortly after that the shortcuts are gone.

Is there a way to resolve this issue?

MAC1 is running macOS Yosemite 10.10.5

MAC2 is running macOS Mojave version 10.14.3

Thank you
