Hello, I don't typically work on Macs, nice machines, but just don't typically work on them.

I have a MacBook that the battery can't charge and I have tried cleaning the connection but it has not helped.

I can take the drive out but not sure which tools to use to copy user files (photos, documents, etc..) to a new Mac.  I can't think it would be all that hard.  Can anyone provide some suggestions?

Oh, the old MAC has Snow Lepord (10.1.6 ios)

Thanks

Background (inherited configuration)
- Client has a long standing history (years before our involvement) with "permissions" problems on their file servers.
- Came from Mac OS X 10.7.5 file server, formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, sharing AFP and SMB (only used by Windows users)
- Configured to user Open Directory, but integrated with Active Directory, OD groups containing AD Users primarily
- Only Windows PCs were bound to Active Directory
- Mac users frequently complained about access to files within folders where they were permissioned to access the entire share
  - When issue occurred they could not access files (or folders) where they previously had access, found exclusive access set
  - Mac users permissions were restored by propogating permissions down folder structure from the top of the volume

- Note: Users work directly from the server, and do not copy the files locally to work, Adobe appears not to "support" this in forums, but have not seen this posted officially

Background (since then)
- Client data was migrated on Windows Server 2016 servers, NTFS volumes and permissions
- Backups were moved from nightly Archiware P5 tape backups to a Replibit (Ubuntu-based) BDR on an hourly basis, which leverages Windows VSS writers
- Sharing configured with both native SMB for Windows and Acronis Access Connect AFP for Mac to allow for illegal characters and long paths

Hello All,

We are toying with implementing BitLocker on all workstations via GPO.  As usual, our wild is a couple of MacBooks that run Windows via BootCamp. Apple does not install a TPM chip on their systems, so if we were to encrypt these Windows installations, the users would need to have a USB drive connected at boot that contains the decryption key.

Does anyone know if this USB drive needs to remain connected at all times? or can it be removed once the operating system has loaded?

I have a Mac that is running Parallels 10.  For some reason, it stopped printing on the Windows 7 side.  I looked at the printers and they all show yellow exclamation marks.  I have checked to make sure that "Add all Mac printers" is enabled.  I even turned that setting off then back on.  I notice that it keeps installing an HP 2800 printer that is not even there.  Any help would be appreciated.

Back Up Your Microsoft Windows Server®

Back up all your Microsoft Windows Server – on-premises, in remote locations, in private and hybrid clouds. Your entire Windows Server will be backed up in one easy step with patented, block-level disk imaging. We achieve RTOs (recovery time objectives) as low as 15 seconds.

There are several users with Macbook Pros in the office & about a week ago, once of them started having network issues.
The only thing he could connect to was a Win 2k8 server inside the LAN, that's used for remote access, when connected to network via Wifi. He couldn't get on Internet or couldn't connect to me via Instant Housecall. Once he plugged in an Ethernet cable, everything worked as was expected. He's getting IP address from the same server, whether wired or not, but for some odd reason it won't let him out to internet when on Wifi. Other mac users all are having no issues.
Any suggestions?

Hi, I am in possession of a mac from a former employee.  I can tell a new user with administration rights was created before the employee departure.  I am suspecting this new user was then used to securely delete the former employee’s user account.  The former employee would have had administration privileges on the Mac, so this would have been entirely possible.

Does anyone know if there is a log generated for this action?  Normally I would look in “private/var/log”, but I am not sure which file to look for.

I am also certain that a factory reset was not performed on this machine since the installation logs go back a couple years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a client who has a iMac which currently still sits in oSX version 10.7.5.
I thought we could go into the iTunes App Store on this iMac and find the oSX version upgrades to upgrade it to a more current version of oSX.  But I Could not see it as an option to download in there.

Can anyone advise where I should be going to find the upgrades to manage this Apple Mac to be upgraded to a more current oSX version?

Thanks

I have .txt document with a list of file names.  I would like to compare this .txt list of files to a drive directory to see what file names from the .txt are present on the directory.

What would be the quickest way to do this?  The directory is on an OS X 10.12.2

SIMS.Net is an education MIS primarily used in secondary schools in the U.K. It's pretty old! I think it was written back in the 90's but it's critical for recording and finding information quickly for students, parents etc

I have a huge Apple MacBook environment and we use Remote Desktop to access SIMs as it's not Mac compatible.

I want to push this out using RDS 2016 RemoteApp. I've read online that I should create a vbsript to mount the network drive that it needs and then run the executable.

Has anyone got any experience setting this up?

Could someone give me solid known working advise on this please?

When this works, our Teachers will no longer have to wait 50 seconds to access sims. Also they currently have to log in to a web access portal which is driving them mad.

Once the SIMs remote app is published and working I have read that it can be placed on an Apple Mac Dock and launched directly from there. This is the end goal.

Much appreciated as always

Dropbox 33.4.23 is installed on both my home and work computers--using Mac OS X and Windows 10, respectively.

Recently, to make a document-in-progress update and sync in and across both computers, I have to restart one or the other computer.  Formerly, every document save updated the file in the Dropbox folder and synced it across computers.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi All Expert,

Good Day.

I am currently having issues regarding my Macbook Pro hard disk. It keeps prompting me that the hard disk is full when there’s pretty much empty when i first turn on my macbook. It usually starts prompting after 2-3hours of usage.

We did a hardware test and shows that there aren’t any issue with the macbook. I did tried calling into apple help desk and they asked me to delete a couple of items and did a ram reboot but none of those actually help in a long run. The disk full is usually due to system files and nothing related to my personal files.

The macbook is less than a year old, it jams sometimes when it comes to full hard disk.

My files are just 50GB and my harddisk is 250gb.

It will be great if you could be of some help on this issue. Much appreciated.

Thanks!
