Hi,

Please tell me:

1. How to check HP-ux multipaths (Linux equivalent of multipath -l )

2. How to check which drives are local or mounted via multipath?

Thanks!

Hi,

I need some answers please to the following questions realated to ServiceGuard.

If possible, please copy/paste the command output from one of the HP-UX servers you have.

1. How to check if the cluster is up and running?

2. How to check what is the mounted resource name?

3. How to move the resource from a node to another?

4. Where are the relevant logs of this cluster?

Thank you!

I have a project coming up to migrate an client from JD Edwards Oneworld running on iSeries to SQL Server Windows plateform.

I have only performed this task once and that was about 10 years ago.

So I wanted to try and contact some iSeries experts (like Gary) who have iSeries experience and also JD Edwards and any high-level steps for migrating off iSeries onto Windows. Or any documentation you could provide would be even better.

Once I migrate them onto Windows/SQL Server i will need to perform an upgrade from OneWorld to EnterpriseOne 9.0.

Thanks

I have a client with a 520 server that has always had a Thin Client console attached to HMC 1.  Today the thing appears to have died.

What is the best solution for replacing that device since Neoware doesn't exist and IBM seems to have no idea what to do.  They asked where the client got the thing client - they got it from IBM.

There are redundant Ethernet cards in the machine.  I was wondering if I could just set up a LAN console on the box but I have never done that before.

Advice would be appreciated.

Hello there,

I'm trying to run a job on zOS mainframe.  I've created my data sets, IND$FILE'd my COBOL and run JCL etc. and I can successfully submit the job.

The problem is that the job then sits in the input queue.  When I look at the job in sdsf I see reference to the user not having access to the data set.

I'm not sure what to do.  i created the dataset with my userid but when I submit the job it asks me to add characters to the job.  So, if I type an A for instance, It will say myuserA doesn't have access to the dataset myuser.blah.blah

Any idea what I can do?

Obviously I don't know too much about mainframe.

TIA!

Hello,

I'm trying to access the ISPF Primary Menu on a mainframe system.  When I log in I'm presented with a user logon and I enter my userid and password.  That takes me to a menu where I can select TSO.

On other systems, this normally takes me to the ISPF Primary Menu.  On this system it takes me to a RACF main menu panel.

I can't seem to figure out how to get to the ISPF Primary Menu from here.  Is there something I'm doing wrong or could it be something with the userid?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It has been over 25 years since I last programmed on a IBM Mainframe....

I seem to remember PL/S was a one of the languages that VM/CMS was written in...

Does system level program only happen in assembler or are there higher level languages ?

Thanks

I have an iSeries server V5R4M5 with a failed drive. When I try and boot the system it takes me to a screen with the error message a drive is missing. The only option I have is to press F3 which takes me to the IPL or Install the System screen. We no longer maintain support from IBM, so I have to replace the drive my self. I need to know the correct procedure on replacing this mirrored drive.

We have a strange problem that is driving our networking and mainframe guys crazy.

Our Mainframe FTPs files to a Windows 2008 R2 server running IIS.  The Mainframe initiates a FTP connection and starts copying files to the FTP server.  At some random point the IIS server times out during a mainframe DIR command and resets the connection.  The problem is not consistent nor is it predictable.  I've set the connection timeout settings to 120 seconds in IIS, but the timeouts are happening in less than that.

I know this is not alot to go on, but does anyone have an idea where we can look?  All indicators point to IIS as the problem.
Thanks

I need to search for a list of tables on our iSeries server. What is the command to use to search for a table in a specific LIB?

Thanks

We have performed some table conversions on some tables on our iSeries. But we now need to go back and check each table in the LIBs to make sure the new table format shows the new additions...such as new table columns, records, etc.

One of the things the conversions are doing is adding new columns. But I don't know the best/easiest way to enter a 400 command in STRSQL to show how many columns a specific table has.

Can you provide me what command to use to show this?

So, For example, one of the tables in question is: F0009, which lives in LIB: PRODCTL.

What command to show number of columns in this table? And also number of records?

Thanks!

We have a IBM 4230 that used to be hooked up to the Twinax controller in our server room. The problem I am running into is that I can’t not sure how it was hooked up. I have attached two pictures one of the panel and where the port that the printer was hooked up to. The printer says its ready but I don’t see it listed in WRKWTR as an active printer. The printer PRT020706 is the one I am looking to get working.

I have a COBOL CICS application on z/OS that prints checks to dot matrix printers using VPS over a TCP/IP network. The check serial numbers are stored in the application AND are also pre-printed on the checks. The application prints the serial number on the check in addition to the pre-printed serial number.

Users load a box of checks in the printer, then record the starting number and the quantity of checks. The printed serial number is supposed to match the pre-printed one. However, we are experiencing serial number mis-match due to the following scenario:

***********************************
Using the logs for the XXXXXX printer, I’ve been able confirm that the problem we are seeing with the out sequence errors (non- blank checks) is the result of timing issues between DRS and VPS.  Here is scenario of what is causing the problem:

1)      Voucher batch #1 start writing out to DRS (big file)
2)      Voucher batch #2 starts writing out to DRS (small file)
3)      Voucher batch #2 finishes writing and closes
4)      Because batch #2 finished writing first, JES selects Batch #2 to print
5)      Voucher batch #1 finishes writing  and closes
6)      JES selects batch #1 to print.

*************************

Staff has suggested increasing a time delay factor before printing, but I would like to know if there is a parameter that can be set in DRS / VPS that will synchronize the printing so that print jobs that are started first will complete prior to print jobs that are started later. I need…

Sometimes when we install CA 7.1 it won't install. It seems like the installation is being performed as it should and an icon is created on the desktop. When the installation is finishing it removes everything again only leaving some empty folders.
We are installing it from a network place.

Can anyone tell what is happening and what we can do to solve the problem?

Thanks!

Hello experts

I would like to know if there is any CP command to display (or how to get) the currently %used central storage and %used expanded storage of a zVM system.

I normally check this through IBM Performance Toolkit panels, under option 2, and is under the following cols:

Storage utilization           19% <- for main storage utilization
CP XSTORE utilization      9%  <- for xstore utilization

I need a similar output but from a CP command. I 've been searching in many docs but everything I get is how much is allocated on the system (Q STOR / Q XSTOR) but not "how much is currently being used" as in the perfkit panel.

Thanks in advance

I am an Oracle EnterpriseOne ERP engineer. I'm not a AS400 expert or guru but I do manage the Oracle software that runs on the AS400 so i do know how to get around.

Right now i have been tasked with doing an audit not only on the Oracle software I support but also the AS400 to make sure both are meeting technical expectations that the Oracle software demands.

So my question is are there any programs or tools out there that I could run or use to give me like an "audit" type review of the AS400? a tool that could report the technical information like CPU, disk, memory, and all other technical info? And perhaps the ability to report any issues that might be going on?

I plan on formulating a detailed document that will cover all the software components but also the AS400.

Even if there are no tools available to download any other information you might be able to give me regarding this audit would be great. Even an existing "template" you might have that  could use to go back and gather the info and update the template doc. Something that would save me time as I put together this audit.

Thanks

Hopefully someone could help me with the following two issues.

1. If i create a user (i'm qsecofr) then another user who is secadm can't see them when they go to wrkusrprf. How can we make it so he can always see all users without having to go to each user i've created and giving him access?

2. As qsecofr i can only sign in to named devices. we use the emulator and i can sign into "mycompa1" but if it's "mycompa2" i can't without granting me *all. I'd like to grant *all to a generic device name like "mycomp*" but i'm not sure how to do it. I know it can be done however.
