Hello -

I patched a client to 9.00.0386 and I am looking to upgrade them to GP 2010.  I have read through Microsoft's upgrade.pdf document on the process.  As a first step, I'll be moving the databases to Server 2008 R2 and installing GP 2010 on a test machine.

There are only five users, therefore I do not plan on transferring over the security settings.  I have also read that the security transfer process can be quite messy, so I'd like to avoid it if possible.

I have three questions that I did not see addressed in upgrade.pdf:

1) The users have their own reports on their machines.  Can I just export each report to a package file (Tools -> Customize -> Customization Maintenance) using GP 9.0 and then import the package file into GP 2010?  Or do I need to do something special with the reports since they are on version 9.00.0386?

2) One user has FRx loaded onto their machine.  Anything special here or can I just install the latest version of FRx and verify that it is pointed at the right database?

3) Will the sa account have the poweruser role?

Thanks

Hi,

I am quite new to MS Dynamics and have been thrust into a situation where I must make a VB.NET app that runs several integration manager scripts.  I got the first one to work and then I looked at the next one:

GetVariable("Conn").Execute "sp_uPostMonthlyAnnuity " & SourceFields("CaseNumber") & ", " & SourceFields("AnnuityID") & _
                              ", '" & SourceFields("DateDue") & "', " &   DestinationFields("Journal Entry#") & ", 'ARD'"

My confusion is with the SourceFields function.  From where is it retrieving the parameters it is sending to this stored procedure?

I have a program that imports Journal entries from a spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet is read into a SQL table and an XML is created for EConnect to import to GP. This creation is working correctly.

When we export 200 rows the system operates as expected and the entries are found in GP under the batch required

When we use the full sheet 4,000+ rows, eConnect throws errors.  Below is the error log

Hello,

We have the following boxes:
CRM 2011 -win2008r2
Exchange 2003 -win2003
CRM Email Router -win2008r2

All is working well.

We are moving off Exchange 2003, (about time), to Office 365. I have everything setup to shuttle over groups of 20+ users a week...except for the CRM Email Router.

In the transition I need email routing from both Exchange and 365 to the CRM.

Do I need a different box for another Email Router to link the CRM 2011 and 365?
Or can I use the existing Email Router and add the 365 and keep the Exchange 2003 settings?

what are the benefits / risks in installing dynamic crm on windows 7,8 vs windows server 2008

Hello:

What are some reasons as to why the "Difference" figure in Select Bank Transactions would not be $0.00.

As usual, there is a client that cannot find this difference, and I'm not sure what else to tell them after they reviewed the standard Bank Rec reports and SmartList.

Thanks!

Hi,

Now I must know if it is possible to update the the OLAP.
I have OLTP and with ETL I build the datawareHouse .( I try...sorry Sir I am trying to build it
with SSIS (very difficult)

But in the day I want to refresh

It is long.

The quetsion is;
Is it possible to refresh the Dataware house onlu the update that have been done in the morning.
For example 10 000 lines and only 50 update in the OLTP Database

That would be  to update only the 50 lines which have been changed
Do you have a good link to suggest in Internet?

Hello:

We have a Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 client, in a Terminal Server 2008 environment. They do not want the "Print" dialogue box to appear, long story short.

We tried adding the "NoPrintDialogs=TRUE" line to the dex.ini file but no success. They still get the dialogue box.

Would setting up Named Printers eliminate this issue? I know that Named Printers has the checkbox in the Machine ID window, for not displaying the Print dialogue box.

But, would setting up Named Printers actually solve this immediate problem? I don't want to set up Named Printers, just for the sake of setting up Named Printers, if doing so is not going to solve this print dialogue issue altogether.

Thanks!

I have a client that recently deployed a custom Microsoft CRM implementation (third-party module on top of CRM) that also integrates with SharePoint Foundation 2010. The third-party module is vertical-specific to the staffing industry and the integration with SharePoint allows them to upload resumes, legal documents, etc... that are linked with the individual records within the CRM.

They are not pleased with the product and are now in the process of migrating away from it to a hosted applicant tracking system. They need to have the docs that are in the system extracted for upload to the new system with the caveat that each doc needs to retain the record ID that it is associated with in CRM so when it is uploaded it will link up with the correct record in the new system.

We don't have anyone on staff with any real knowledge of SharePoint (and we have zero knowledge of either of the applications involved) so I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance on how to extract files from SharePoint while maintaining the data that links it to the record it was uploaded to originally.

Thanks!

Hello:

A Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 client on Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 gets the following error, upon trying to export from SmartList to Excel:  "Unable to start Microsoft Excel."

The client has been on GP for a while and noticed this issue, last Friday.  That was the same week that GP crashed, and they had to get someone to uninstall and reinstall it.  They access GP and Excel, specifically, from one Terminal Server box--meaning that they log directly onto the Terminal Server prior to launching either app.

They have been on Office Professional Plus 2010 for about three years and have never had this issue before.  Office, of course, is activated even with GP having crashed.  Also, even with Excel open prior to clicking the "Excel" button in SmartList, this error happens.

All GP users, including "sa", get this issue.  Too, even logged on as a domain administrator on the Terminal Server box, we get the issue.

Their software company conducted the reinstall of Office, while my firm conducted the reinstall of GP.  So, there may have been a difference in user account permissions used.

Any ideas?

Thanks!  Much appreciated!

Dear all,

Thank you very much dor your answers.

I will say after study to my chairman that

It is no use to try to do SSRS SSAS on premise because the reports
are available ON LINE in Dynamics.

Mostly studying books I've been aware of the fact that in case of success
it is now the war of the Clouds and they are crash because of so many connection

It seems that the On premise can be good for Business managers inside the Compagny
or Firm.

Only GOOLE AMAZONE APPLE can have the right to win against MICROSOFT
every one of them with their own Way to Play.

BUT:
It seems some configuration may be trust worthy with

ON LINE DYNAMICS and NAV

ASP.net  ===>  On Premise confidential inside the Firm SSRS SSAS

for driving sales force! ... ...

The CLOUD can unfortunately not be no more a dream and we trusted MS

It is our Cloud in a way we love it we adore it we want to think it
not sink I spare the ink.

We currently use MS CRM 2011 and it works reasonably well for what and how we work.  The main thing though, is we get a fair amount of lead "poaching".  The manager can and should be able to view all the leads.  He determines who the lead is assigned to and that person works the lead as any sales person does.

The problem is the user can select "all leads" and sees the leads regardless of who it was assigned to.  From time to time, they will then call the largest one, start managing the lead on their own, then when the person who was originally assigned to it calls, the call has already been initiated.  The sales people fight, then the manager re-assigns the lead to the other sales person since that person has already had contact with possible client, leaving the original person angry.

I looked to the see where I can change it, but it isn't clear where I can do to remove the drop down option of "View all leads".  Can anyone point me in the right direction\?
