Hi all,

I have a buddy with a Windows hosted server running Navision and MSSQL.  I am not an SQL guy by any stretch of the imagination.

He says that the server is fast but Navision is slow with the queries.  I think it's his sql database and maybe log tuning etc.

In the MSSQL programfile directory, he's got 26 mssql.xx files with MSSQL.1 = 39GB and
MSSQL.15 = 30GB being the largest and he doesn't know why.

How can I help him fix this?

Hello:

In my query below that I house in SmartList Builder, no data is pulling from fields in the MDS_VPO_PACK_DETAILS table.  That's an Accellos table.

And, that table only pulls historical sales orders--not historical sales invoices.

You will notice that I, also, have the lot number table in this query (SOP10201).  I need the lot numbers from historical invoices in SOP30300.  But, I want users of the SmartList to be able to search on the historical order numbers that were transferred to those invoices accordingly in SOP30300.

So, the query shows lot numbers from historical invoices where the master number of those invoices equals the master number of the historical orders that were transferred to those invoices.

In that respect, the query pulls data where SOP30300.SOPTYPE = '3'. But, again, the Accellos table only has SOPTYPES that are '2'.

How do I get the data form Accellos to display, then?

Thanks! As always, much appreciated!

I am trying to re-import all the fresh data into the CRM 2011 except users records,  What is the best way to do it?  When I use the bulk delete wizard, it only works on the data on that page but not all the data for a particular entity.

Any help will be appreciated.

We have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 running on Server 2003 R2, both fully patched (CRM is on update rollup 21 - v4.0.7333.3822).

Recently performance has been very poor for some of the time, and we can see in PERFMON on the CRM server that the hard disk queue is the problem. We've also found that if we stop the Microsoft CRM Email Router service (which is running on our Exchange 2010 / Small Business Server 2011) within seconds the performance returns to normal and the disk queue drops to almost nothing.  Of course, there is no email flow with the service stopped.

I didn't set it up myself, and have read that the CRM Email Router should not run on an Exchange server - could this be the problem?

One user has the CRM Email Router installed on his PC (I'm told this is because he sends most of the mailshots) - is it advisable to have more than one instance running?

If I set CRM to send email through Outlook clients (by setting E-mail Access Configuration to "Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook") could this fix the problem?  Does this option have any disadvantages?

Also, we've been unable to see where the queued email is located (so we can monitor how quickly is it being sent if at all).  It wouldn't be a problem but for the issue with the e-mail router - could this be relevant?

Finally, we plan to upgrade to CRM 2011 soon - might this simply side-step the problem?

I realise there are arguably several questions here, and will happily open more if necessary.  …

Hello:

OK.  GP 10.0 with service pack 5.  Most of the items entered in Purchase Order Processing are going to be noninventoried items.  The exception is going to be a Sales Inventory item called "USE TAX".

This item will be manually added on the Purchasing Invoice Entry window because, by that time, the client will know how much tax they will have to put on their invoice and report to the state.

They cannot simply enter an amount in tax, as they need a formal USE TAX line item to track by.

OK.  So, I created a PO with one noninventoried item and successfully received it in.

Then, I auto-invoiced the noninventoried item.  Next, I entered a line item for the inventoried item "USE TAX".

When I clicked "Distributions", two things happened that really upset the living daylights out of me.  First, a line was created for "PURCH" for the USE TAX.  That's good, and that's what I wanted.

But, the account that I placed for the item in Item Accounts Maintenance did not default in.  When I tried to type it in, I got that wonderful message saying that you cannot change the account at the summary level and to do so at the line item level, instead.

Well, I'd love to do that.  But, when I click on line item entry, there is no field for account.

Not only that, it really would have been nice to have had a corresponding credit to Use Tax Payable.  Instead the whole payable amount for the invoice got booked into Accounts Payable.  I don't want to force the client to …

I have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 on Server 2008R2.  CRM crashed and I bought a 2011 sbs server to replace the 2008 server.  I have the 2011 setup and it is now the DC and AD.  I want to not rebuild the 2008 server to add to the network and reinstall CRM.  I need to know what files I have to save from the 2008 server for the CRM install.  I have backed up the sql files.  I need to know what other files I need for CRM.  I want to keep my customizations if at all possible.  I can't use the deployment manager to export files because that is the part of CRM that I could never get to work again. Thanks.

Hello:

A client is getting the following error, upon selecting a company in GP 10.0:

The procedure entry point strcpynw could not be located in the shell32.dll.

If the user is "sa", that user can click "OK" to the message and go into the company.  If it is any user other than "sa", however, GP closes upon clicking "OK".

This GP 10.0 install is on a 64-bit Windows 7 workstation, with User Access Control turned off.

An uninstall and reinstall has been conducted on this station, but doing so did not eliminate this issue.

No other workstation is experiencing this problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

In MS Dynamics GP I need to capture the open event on the Generate EFT File form.
What is the correct syntax in VS C# to capture this event? The form name is cmEFTGenerateFile. In other words, as soon as someone opens this window, I need to capture this event. The reason I need to capture this event is because there is a field called EffectiveDate and our bank requires that date always be one day in the future. So I want to increment the default date to one day in the future so the user never needs to worry about it.

I have a workflow (with child workflows) on Opportunites that when the custom Phase field is updated, it will udpate the Pipeline Phase field.

This works fine on any records that I create through Dynamic CRM 2011.

The problem is that I have a lot of records to be imported.  For all the records that I import, the workflow does not even attempt to start if I go in later & change the Phase field.

It will run if I manually start it on that imported record & update the Pipeline Phase appropriately.  Then if I go back & change the Phase on the record again later, it still won't automatically start.  I have to manually start it.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Well here is my situation.  We are currently running a CRM 2011 on premise server with a separate SQL Server.  All servers are running Server 2008R2.  All the systems are running great with no current issues.  Where I am looking for some guidance is with our external users.  Currently I am having them VPN in and then use our systems.  That is not the ideal situation as a number of our users are internationally and the VPN kills their internet access.  I am going to be setting up an additional CRM server and implement IFD.  I am looking for the best and most secure way to deploy the server (in a DMZ I presume).  I would love to get articles or even videos explaining the proper way to deploy my server in the DMZ and tie it to the same SQL server and DB.  Obviously I will need ADFS but would like some guidance in this project if possible.  My environment is Virtual using Hyper-V and will purchase all certificates needed to properly deploy this.

I also just read the following article:

http://blog.customereffective.com/blog/2008/05/more-ifd-lesson.html

and in the summary of the article it mentions that it is not worthwhile to deploy the IFD CRM in the DMZ and just put it behind the firewall in the lan.  Is this correct and should I just forget about the DMZ and deploy it with IFD from my LAN.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Hi Guys,

How to make editable grid in Microsoft Dynamic CRM 2011.   I am making an accounting screen which includes date, description, debit, credit, Total.  I need to allow user to enter the transactions directly to the grid.  Total field should be read only.  Is there anyway to extend subgrid for this functionality ?

Your response is appreciated.

I am trying to add a group by for the amountmst field from LegdgerTrans.  Right now it is showing all of the transactions on the voucher, but I want it to show the sum on one line.  I have multiple inner joins with tables but when I add the group by I get this error
" Could not update a list of fields for the query.  Verify that you can connect to the data source and that your query syntax is correct.  I only get this error when I add the group by. I am using sql 2008 and Dynamics AX 2009.

Hello -

I patched a client to 9.00.0386 and I am looking to upgrade them to GP 2010.  I have read through Microsoft's upgrade.pdf document on the process.  As a first step, I'll be moving the databases to Server 2008 R2 and installing GP 2010 on a test machine.

There are only five users, therefore I do not plan on transferring over the security settings.  I have also read that the security transfer process can be quite messy, so I'd like to avoid it if possible.

I have three questions that I did not see addressed in upgrade.pdf:

1) The users have their own reports on their machines.  Can I just export each report to a package file (Tools -> Customize -> Customization Maintenance) using GP 9.0 and then import the package file into GP 2010?  Or do I need to do something special with the reports since they are on version 9.00.0386?

2) One user has FRx loaded onto their machine.  Anything special here or can I just install the latest version of FRx and verify that it is pointed at the right database?

3) Will the sa account have the poweruser role?

Thanks

Hi,

I am quite new to MS Dynamics and have been thrust into a situation where I must make a VB.NET app that runs several integration manager scripts.  I got the first one to work and then I looked at the next one:

GetVariable("Conn").Execute "sp_uPostMonthlyAnnuity " & SourceFields("CaseNumber") & ", " & SourceFields("AnnuityID") & _
                              ", '" & SourceFields("DateDue") & "', " &   DestinationFields("Journal Entry#") & ", 'ARD'"

My confusion is with the SourceFields function.  From where is it retrieving the parameters it is sending to this stored procedure?

I have a program that imports Journal entries from a spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet is read into a SQL table and an XML is created for EConnect to import to GP. This creation is working correctly.

When we export 200 rows the system operates as expected and the entries are found in GP under the batch required

When we use the full sheet 4,000+ rows, eConnect throws errors.  Below is the error log

Hello,

We have the following boxes:
CRM 2011 -win2008r2
Exchange 2003 -win2003
CRM Email Router -win2008r2

All is working well.

We are moving off Exchange 2003, (about time), to Office 365. I have everything setup to shuttle over groups of 20+ users a week...except for the CRM Email Router.

In the transition I need email routing from both Exchange and 365 to the CRM.

Do I need a different box for another Email Router to link the CRM 2011 and 365?
Or can I use the existing Email Router and add the 365 and keep the Exchange 2003 settings?

what are the benefits / risks in installing dynamic crm on windows 7,8 vs windows server 2008

Hello:

What are some reasons as to why the "Difference" figure in Select Bank Transactions would not be $0.00.

As usual, there is a client that cannot find this difference, and I'm not sure what else to tell them after they reviewed the standard Bank Rec reports and SmartList.

Thanks!
