People,

My current company, let say ParentCo.com (1000+ user base) has just acquired new smaller company of just 80-100 users last month.

They've got all on premise:
AD domain controllers - Single Forest domain called ChildCo.com
File Servers ~ 12 TB on their office
Exchange server 2010 with email domain ChildCo.com, ChildCo2.com, Company2.com and SmallCo.com [my current email domain is First.LastName@ParentCo.com]
35+ Windows Server AD domain joined to ChildCo.com
AD user account: FLastname@ChildCo.com [my current AD domain uses First.LastName@ParentCo.com]

So how can I integrate them all into my Datacenter with the AD domain ParentCo.com and converting all users to be First.LastName@ParentCo.com ?

Where to start first so I can allow them to logon to my AD domain using First.LastName@ParentCo.com & access email from my new company ?

I will create the separate thread for migrating:

Active Directory
Exchange Server
File Server

to my ParentCo.com AD domain.

People,

I'm trying to implement email resiliency solution internally and also externally with no Load Balancer access, so I came up with the below Idea:

http://exchange929.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/high-availability-for-exchange-2013-cas.html

which I will be applying for all of my Exchange Server 2013 Std. Edition running CAS role:

Internally
AutoDiscover.domain.com points to CAS server 1 internal IP address on AD Site 1
OWA.domain.com points to CAS server 1 internal IP address on AD Site 1

AutoDiscover.domain.com points to CAS server 2 internal IP address on AD Site 2
OWA.domain.com points to CAS server 2 internal IP address on AD Site 2

...

AutoDiscover.domain.com points to CAS server N internal IP address on AD Site N
OWA.domain.com points to CAS server N internal IP address on AD Site N

and also Externally
AutoDiscover.domain.com points to CAS server 1 public IP address on the internet.
OWA.domain.com points to CAS server 1 public IP address on the internet.

AutoDiscover.domain.com points to CAS server 2 public  IP address on the internet.
OWA.domain.com points to CAS server 2 public  IP address on the internet.

I had this question after viewing Installing CAS role for the existing Mailbox server ?.

Hi All,

Before configuring a DAG on my newly configured Exchange Server 2013 Standard SP1, I wonder if it is possible to separate the Database and the Transaction logs drive ?

Since at the moment Circular logging is enabled in all mailbox DB, do I need to turn it off first and then move the small Transaction logs then configure it with Powershell perhaps ?

I had this question after viewing Mailbox in CAS Server Exchange 2013.

Hi All,

Just like in the above thread, this time I want to do the other way around, What's the suggested steps for me to install CAS role on the existing Exchange Server 2013 Standard SP1 mailbox server role without losing any of its data or impacting email flow ?

Can someone please share the steps ?

I'd like to decommission one CAS server in my AD site located in the branch office:

So can anyone here please share the steps to add CAS role to the newly build production mailbox server?

AD Site: Default-First-Site name
Old Server to be decom: Mailbox & CAS role only running as OWA and ECP so far.

Hi All,

I'm running Exchange Server 2013 that was inherited or not properly deployed and planned:

Windows Server 2008 R2
C:\ 200 GB [OS - 70GB remaining]
D:\ 1.95 TB [Mailbox DB - 50GB remaining free disk space]
L:\ 200 GB [Logs - 30 GB remaining free disk space]

P:\ 100 GB [Page file - 10 GB remaining]

So If I run the Exchange backup to truncate the log files now during the business hours, does it can cause any mail flow impact ?

Does the D: drive of the Database will run out due to the very large transaction logs being committed to the Exchange database ?

Note: The D: drive cannot be extended anymore to 2 TB due to NTFS - MBR partition

People,

I'm running Exchange Server 2013 SP1 that was losing its 1.9 TB Database disk for 2 hours, and then back online again all in a sudden.

So the timing is like:

Yesterday
9:00 PM - 9:30 PM, I am doing my change to delete the oversized Mail.que:
1. Go to services.msc and Pause the Microsoft Exchange Transport service.
2. Run “Get-Queue | ft -AutoSize” and ensure all pending messages are clearing out to be very minimal under 10.
3. Stop the Microsoft Exchange Transport service
4. Set Microsoft Exchange Transport service to "Disabled"
5. Rename mail.queue file
6. Set Microsoft Exchange Transport service to "Automatic"
7. Reboot the Exchange server
8. Run “Get-Queue | ft -AutoSize” and ensure all pending messages are clearing out.

after the reboot, the Windows Server is rebooting itself again, but then this time its worst, the D:\ drive where all of the Exchange mailbox DB went missing due to the D:\ drive has become RAW instead of NTFS for about 2-2.5 hours.

11:45 PM yesterday, the D:\ drive is mysteriously back online again as NTFS drive, all emails are flowing back as normal.

But then I've got some users more than half reporting that they are missing their yesterday's email even before the maintenance window yesterday at 9:00 PM ?

The email today is working fine from everyone, but some of my users did lose their yesterday emails?

Looking through Exchange Transaction logs, I can see some emails within the outage window:

We are in the process of rolling out Microsoft Enterprise Mode Site List Manager to our enterprise environment, but we were curious if it is possible to specify in the Enterprise Mode list that a URL/Domain can be opened with either IE11 or Edge?  The Enterprise Mode Site List Manager GUI allows to select either IE11 or Edge, but I was curious if there was a hidden syntax we could update the Enterprise Mode - XML file to allow both browsers to be used for a certain URL?

I had this question after viewing Office 365 and Azure with ADFS setup or AD Pass-through authentication ?.

People,

I'd like to plan and build ADFS servers in my current OnPremise infrastructure so that the current AD user account can access or consume the Azure AD cloud services.

At the moment I do not have any Office 365 yet so AD-Pass through authentication is not possible to be implemented.

On Premise – Production Site:
1x Windows Server 2012 R2 – Domain Joined – AD Federation Server & SQL Server Express Edition on the server. [PRDADFS01-VM]
1x Windows Server 2012 R2 – Non-Domain Joined (DMZ) – WebApplication Proxy Server. [PRDADFSPXY01-VM]

On Premise – DR Site:
1x Windows Server 2012 R2 – Domain Joined – AD Federation Server & SQL Server Express Edition on the server. [DRADFS01-VM]
1x Windows Server 2012 R2 – Non-Domain Joined (DMZ) – WebApplication Proxy Server.[DRADFSPXY01-VM]

Certificate requirements:
ADFS.company.com --> this is the load balanced name or VIP using DNS Round Robin both internally and externally.
PRDADFSPXY01-VM.company.com
DRADFSPXY01-VM.company.com

Is that the correct simplest deployment?

Hi All,

I'm currently performing audit from one company to another and I'd like to know if there is any way to show how many AD forest and domains in the company ?

It can be a PowerShell script or GUI console step-by-steps.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Can anyone help explain in easy to understand terms what is required on the EA Azure Portal - the terms such as Subscription and Account seem to have different meanings to the normal licnesing terms used by Microsoft.  I have searched Google but come up with nothing that means anything.

Thanks

I have heard a lot that Unified EndPoint Management (UEM) is the way forward to provide a seamless experience between mobile, desktop and laptop. I'm assuming this must tightly couple with Identity Management.

Both MS (Enterprise Mobility Suite) , VMWare (Workspace One) and Citrix (Xen products) seem to be pushing this concept hard. BlackBerry are also joining in the game with their BlackBerry Dynamics suite and UEM servers, saying all solutions need to be device agnostic.

Can someone explain the base concept here? I understand that we'd want the following securely across all platforms:

Email
Browser
Document Management
Workflow Applications

However, in terms of the applications how will this work? Each app must be optimised for the device? Only Microsoft seem to have a full suite of apps across all devices. For example, taking Microsoft Outlook, only MS can offer MS Outlook on a mobile device, the others have their own equivalents of this (Boxer, BlackBerry Work, Xen Work for example). Same with MS Word and so forth,

This is a strict Microsoft question.

We have Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP2 working is doing great we can deploy updates to all Windows computers and deploy other packages to more than 200 laptops.
Now, we just got System Center Configuration Manager 2016, my question is; does anyone know if an upgrade is possible without messing everything up?

Thanks for your time.

I installed SCOM 2016 and deployed agents to the servers that I needed but I had issue with the some servers where it says Run as account verification  access denied on the agent while it is installed under domain account.  I am trying to reset the health to clear the error but the health explorer or recalculate health doesn't work.  It comes up with the error saying can not reset the health.   I looked at all the accounts on my SCOM and it seems to be setup correctly. see error below.

I would like to check if specific proxy service  (sc queryex ProxyClientSvc) is running on
the 3000 PCs/laptops in our organization.

A past SCCM administrator was able to push installers (*.msi) to the 3000 PCs & install it
but our new SCCM administrator told me it's not possible to issue Windows commands
(eg: dir,  sc queryex ...) from SCCM to the PCs.  Is this so?

I've used a HP product in the past which could issue OS commands (Windows & UNIX)
to hundreds/thousands of PCs & UNIX endpoints & get the outputs for all the endpoints
back in one single output file which indicates the hostname/IP of each endpoints, the
output for each points segregated by =======  between each endpoints' output

Q1:
If it can be done by SCCM, can someone can give me a step by step instruction (with
screen shots) so that I can share with the new SCCM administrator?  The exact SCCM
command I wanted to issue is:
sc queryex ProxyClientSvc | find/i "Running"
if %errorlevel% neq 0 echo service is not running

Q2:
Possible to run Windows .bat or .cmd scripts or PowerShell scripts via SCCM to be
executed to all endpoints & then get the output back?

Hi All,

I've got some problem with Folder redirection which is not working in my Windows 10 SurfacePro4 but it works for all Windows 8.1 & 7 for one single AD user. Hence I wanted to roll back the Folder Redirection due to some Windows 10 users not able to use it properly.

So if I decided to turn off Folder redirection and decommissioning the shared folder safely without losing any user data. Which option that I must change ?

See the current AD GPO for the Folder Redirection:

Folder redirection
My question is:

1. Shall I Select the highlighted Policy Removal option to safely copy all files from \\10.1.1.1\Folder_Redirection\Allan to user local directory C:\Users\Allan ?

2. What would happen if I change the Setting: Not Configured ? Does the users will be denied all of their data ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi All- I am planning to add a RODC in our existing domain. Our current domain controllers in the company are in mixed windows server 2008 and 2012 r2. Is there anything that i need to prep in my end to add a RODC? How about the account information that I have to use to promote the server as RODC or domain controller?

Thanks!
