This is a strict Microsoft question.

We have Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP2 working is doing great we can deploy updates to all Windows computers and deploy other packages to more than 200 laptops.
Now, we just got System Center Configuration Manager 2016, my question is; does anyone know if an upgrade is possible without messing everything up?

Thanks for your time.

I would like to check if specific proxy service  (sc queryex ProxyClientSvc) is running on
the 3000 PCs/laptops in our organization.

A past SCCM administrator was able to push installers (*.msi) to the 3000 PCs & install it
but our new SCCM administrator told me it's not possible to issue Windows commands
(eg: dir,  sc queryex ...) from SCCM to the PCs.  Is this so?

I've used a HP product in the past which could issue OS commands (Windows & UNIX)
to hundreds/thousands of PCs & UNIX endpoints & get the outputs for all the endpoints
back in one single output file which indicates the hostname/IP of each endpoints, the
output for each points segregated by =======  between each endpoints' output

Q1:
If it can be done by SCCM, can someone can give me a step by step instruction (with
screen shots) so that I can share with the new SCCM administrator?  The exact SCCM
command I wanted to issue is:
sc queryex ProxyClientSvc | find/i "Running"
if %errorlevel% neq 0 echo service is not running

Q2:
Possible to run Windows .bat or .cmd scripts or PowerShell scripts via SCCM to be
executed to all endpoints & then get the output back?

Hi All,

I've got some problem with Folder redirection which is not working in my Windows 10 SurfacePro4 but it works for all Windows 8.1 & 7 for one single AD user. Hence I wanted to roll back the Folder Redirection due to some Windows 10 users not able to use it properly.

So if I decided to turn off Folder redirection and decommissioning the shared folder safely without losing any user data. Which option that I must change ?

See the current AD GPO for the Folder Redirection:

Folder redirection
My question is:

1. Shall I Select the highlighted Policy Removal option to safely copy all files from \\10.1.1.1\Folder_Redirection\Allan to user local directory C:\Users\Allan ?

2. What would happen if I change the Setting: Not Configured ? Does the users will be denied all of their data ?

Thanks in advance.

Will performing a repair installation of Windows 10 result in lost data or settings?

Or will any software need to be reinstalled or reconfigured?

Hi All- I am planning to add a RODC in our existing domain. Our current domain controllers in the company are in mixed windows server 2008 and 2012 r2. Is there anything that i need to prep in my end to add a RODC? How about the account information that I have to use to promote the server as RODC or domain controller?

Thanks!

One of my customers is experiencing a recurring issue where two Windows 10 updates will not install on his laptop. His OS is Windows 10 Professional

We have tried every known solution including manually downloading and individually installing the updates but have been unable to get this issue resolved.

Is there a particular Microsoft support group that I can call that can help get this issue resolved?

If so what is their phone number?

Please provide me with the URL address for downloading the Marvell AVASTAR Wireless -AC driver for Windows 10 64-bit.

Attached is a screenshot of this driver.

This driver is needed for a Windows Surface pro tabelet that originally had Windows 8 installed on it.

Is there a list of approved drivers that Microsoft pre-loads on any version on windows OS?

I am wanted to make it easy for the users to install the device and on the install it will find the pre-loaded drivers Given the OS system.

How would I go about choosing a device that will already have  drivers pre loaded.

Please provide me with the steps to setup a Windows 7 OS so that while a user is sitting in front of the computer using it and then another user connects to the same computer using Windows 7 the user sitting in front of the computer won't have his/her computer session locked.

We need to make it so that both the user in front of the computer and the user who connects remotely using remote desktop will be able to both use the computer at the same time

Hi,

I am helping a friend looking for a requirement to be able to do the following:

1. Take some photos.
2. Add some photos to a quote.
3. Edit the quote and make some annotations.
4. Email this quote to a client.

Specifically I want to be able to do this using an iPad. The user will
be an Arborist so I don't imagine they would always have stable internet
access. So something that can batch things up might work better like
being able to work in an offline mode. Having like a quote template
where they can populate the customer details.

I have been thinking of CRM type apps but am having problems as things
don't seem to actively support IOS. I know that Microsoft Dynamics has
an ios app but cant find clear information if it can do this.

So if anybody knows about dynamics can help me out with this that
would be great. My friend currently has an Office 365 subscription btw.

So any iPad apps that can help with this?

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ward.

I am about to renew my EA and I have a questions on how others handled this.

History:
Before I was involved with this the previous IT manager had a Volume License (Standard Agreement) from 2010-2013 and when this was up it was decided that he wanted to go to an EA. With the EA there was:
Core CAL Per User - SA      250
Windows Ent - SA      250
Exchange Server Ent - SA      2
Project Std - SA      1
Sharepoint Server - SA      1
System Center Std - 2 Core - SA      8
Visio Std - SA      10
Visual Studio Pro w/MSDN - SA      1
Windows Remote DT Svcs CAL Per User - SA      75
Windows Server Std - 2 Core - SA      24
Windows Server DC  - 2 Core - SASU      24
SQL CAL Per User - SA      120
SQL Server Std - SA       8
VDA - Per Device - Sub      60
These items I am renewing, but the VDI component in my environment is now a sticky issue.  We are well under the 250 Core CAL mark and we have purchased 160 Office 2010 Pro Plus (4 or 5 years ago) w/o SA.  With the way my environment is currently we only have 130 physical machines and have had 30 - 50 VDI's running on XenDesktop.  I was not aware until the discussion during my renewal that my current license entitlement for Office is not in compliance with Microsoft Licensing rules.

Since I do not have an SA with Office I would need to have a license for each device that connects to a XenDesktop sessions.
So if I have 3 devices (Personal Laptop, my iPad and a relative's computer) I would need three additional Office licenses just for me from what I was told.

A Windows 10 laptop has been unable to install these two Windows 10 updates: KB3200970 & KB3197954.

What can be done to fix this issue so that these updates will be able to install?

Is it possible to prevent certain Windows 10 updates from installing?

The two updates I would like to prevent from installing are KB3200970 & KB3197954.

So I am looking to deploy a hyperV box with multiple public facing servers that need little to no bottleneck in the way as far as performance.  My question is, what is the standard best practice to do this and maintain secured environment to manage the servers?  I know I can deploy a private networks behind a firewall and connect via RDP to the boxes etc, but what is the best way to put a public network on with public IP's and make sure that only certain ports are accessible via the public IP.

We're in the middle of a pretty large migration and Robocopy has been working beautifully. The only problem is that each sync seems to take the same amount of time as the previous sync. I don't know if this is possible, but are there any switches that I might be missing?  I just want to do an incremental type sync after the first sync. I'm going to send an email out to each user letting them know the sync is happening, but if it takes all night just to do one folder this is going to cause issues. Here are the switches I'm using:

robocopy.exe \\source\olduserfolder \\destination\newuserfolder /NP /Z /R:0 /W:0 /MIR /SEC /SECFIX /LOG+:c:\Logs\user.log

For example I'm copying a single users folder that has around 8.5 million files. No matter if I copy it the first time or just want to do an incremental it seems to take an extremely long time to sync. Now I imagine it has to check every file and 8.5 million files is a lot of files, but I wanted to check and make sure I'm not missing anything. I know I cam probably remove the SECFIX as I needed to add that because someone forgot to copy over the permissions on some of the folders. Will that make a huge increase, don't know. Any help would be appreciated,

Hi All,

I have a requirement to connect a SaaS Internet Application to our AD. The Application only supports LDAP and does not support SAML. I don't want to expose our AD to the Internet for obvious reasons.

We have already setup ADFS including Web Proxies for a previous project and am hoping to use that.

if I go to our ADFS DNS Host Name (ldap://adfslogin.domain.com:389) it pops up a search box.

However I can not search for anything in our AD, and our SaaS Application Fails to connect to the address.

Can I use my ADFS Web Proxies to proxy LDAP? or should I look at Microsoft LDS, or even Open LDAP as an other Option

With this not working, and a fair bit of google searching I'm lost as to where to look for some form of config guide. Could anybody tell me the configurations steps needed, or point me in the right direction for either getting LDAP working with ADFS or LDS?

Once I have it working with LDAP I will look at moving it to LDAPS.

Cheers
TME

I have code that includes declarations of 32-bit Microsoft libraries.  Some of our users are now just migrating to 64-bit versions of Office and I want the code to work on both.  I tried to look around for the 64-bit equivalents of the 32-bit declarations, but no luck.  Our code works for those running MS Access 2010 but not MS Access 2013 64-bit.

Any help would be much appreciated.  Here are the 32-bit declarations:

Declare Function IsZoomed Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As Long) As Long
Declare Function ShowWindow Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As Long, ByVal nCmdShow As Long) As Long
Declare Function AddPrinterConnection Lib "winspool.drv" Alias "AddPrinterConnectionA" (ByVal pName As String) As Long
Declare Function GetUserName Lib "advapi32.dll" Alias "GetUserNameA" (ByVal lpBuffer As String, nSize As Long) As Long
Declare Sub Sleep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwMilliseconds As Long)

Hello!

We have CA infrastructure which contains offline root CA and subordinate CA which uses SHA-1 algorythm.
According this article http://windowsitpro.com/security/your-organization-using-sha-1-ssl-certificates
We are able renew only Subordinate CA with no changes in root CA.

Could you please explain if we have to reissue all certificates which were issued by subordinate CA after update.

Many thanks.

P.S.: Sorry for my English.

Please provide me with the steps to follow to permanently disable the group policy that keeps enabling hibernation on a Server 2012 server.

On a Server 2012 server that keeps running low of free hard drive space on the C: drive we have to schedule a batch file that runs every couple hours that runs the powercfg -h off command in an elevated command prompt.

We would like to make it so that this hiberfil.sys file will be permanently disabled so that it will never come back.

What steps need to be taken to completely and permanently disable the hiberfil.sys file within Server 2012 so that it will never come back?

Hello Experts,

I'm being called to write a company policy...The policy concerning software licensing. We need a written policy that says.

IT or any other employee will not use any software on company servers or workstations that hasn't been paid for under any circumstances. If we install a Microsoft or Linux product on any device we will have a license purchased by our company and have proof of the license. It must be the type of license needed and the type of license actually used.

This policy will become part of our company policies. I need a template or something I can modify for our purpose.

Looking for a script that will accomplish the following task.

Copy email from a user’s mailbox that meets a specific date. The copy script should only execute based on the effective date plus 60 days. For example, if a daily script started running Oct 1st, no emails will be copied until Nov 30th. So on Nov 30th only emails from Oct 1st will be copied. On Dec 1st emails from Oct 2nd will be copied, so on an so forth.  No emails will be copied prior to the start date, so if the script starts running on Oct 1st, we can't copy any emails from Sept 30th.

We would like to copy email from all mail folders except deleted items. We are currently running Exchange 2013.

Basically:  Copy email to "resource.pst" if Date = Current Date + 60 days

Is there are script or software that anyone can think of that can accomplish this task? Please let me know if there are any additional information that I need to provide or if I need to clarify anything.  Thank you.
