We have a need to create a non-interactive (scripted) routine that will create calendar meetings in Microsoft Exchange based on start and end and duration defined in events from another system.

Is there a way to create and update MS exchangecalendar events programmatically through a microsoft library and/or examples of how to do this so it can be managed in a non-interactive fashion?

Folder redirection seems to be working well for users in the security filter on the GPO.  Additionally, DFSR is working for the redirected folders share.  The issue is that when one is logged in as a domain admin, one can browse to the redirected folder share and see all the redirected users folders.  This top level visibility seems normal, but a domain admin can drill into other domain admin folders but not into standard users folders.  When a standard user browses to the redirected share, they can only see their own folder which is to be desired.  How do I secure other domain admin folders?
Security settings on the share and folders are based on this article:

Hey all, I've had not much luck finding complete examples on the internet that show how to initiate an application download and install on an SCCM client using powershell. I need to use this to create a script to clear the cache, re-download and install the application as it is failing on hundreds of computers.

I found this: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc145211.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

But I don't know how to find the program or package Id. I found examples elsewhere on how it is acquired, but they seem to have access to wmi namespaces that don't exist on my clients.

Hello,

I want to be Microsoft Certified, in order to manage our in-house file-sharing, Active Directory, domain profiles, etc. It is all on a Microsoft Server and/or Exchange server.

What is the best course of certifications I should earn in order to be able to completely manage our server from end-to-end (file sharing, file backups, active directory, Outlook e-Mail, etc.)

I see there is no RK for server 2008, im looking specifically for freedisk.exe, do i have to enable some role for this to be available?

according to this: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731162 it should be available but i cant find it on any of 4 2008 servers (2 of them 2008 r2), so maybe Im missing some role or install option.

i have some scripts that use freedisk, and would need to modify them and find a replacement tool or create my own for them to keep working. i just think it was a great tool and easy to use.

Hi,

I have a two-way transitive, external trust with another domain, we want to turn that into a forest trust.
What do I need to do, do I create a new forest trust then remove the old two-way trust, do I upgrade the existing two-way trust somehow.
I need to know the method that will pose the least amount of risk to our customers using the trust for enterprise services.
I am new to deal with a forest level trust and need some guidance.
Thanks in advance.

In SCCM is so easy to create a custom reports with Report Builder, but in SCSM i can't find a easy way to create a Report for example, all tickets that have a severity low, or all tickets that have a specific selection in a custom list.

Is there a way to easy create this type of reports or any report?

My client requested to upgrade from Windows Server 2008R2 Standard to Enterprise in order to utilize memory above
32GB.  The server is a Dell T420 purchased with Windows 2012R2 and Windows 2008R2 installed by client request.

Per recommendation of the "IngramMicro Microsoft Licensing Desk" I purchased 2 copies of "Windows Server 2012R2 Standard"
"Microsoft Open License" and received keys for Windows Server 2008 and 2008R2 Std/Ent as well as the two 2012/2012R2
Licenses.

I received this key:
Windows Server 2008R2 Std/Ent - MAK B MYKEY-MYKEY-MYKEY-MYKEY-MYKEY MAK 0/45

To perform the upgrade I followed the instructions found here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/server_core/archive/2009/10/14/upgrading-windows-server-2008-r2-without-media.aspx

Summary:
FROM  AN ELVATED COMMAND PROMPT:
To determine the installed edition, run:
DISM /online /Get-CurrentEdition
To check the possible target editions, run:
DISM /online /Get-TargetEditions
Finally, to initiate an upgrade, run:
DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerEnterprise /ProductKey:MYKEY-MYKEY-MYKEY-MYKEY-MYKEY

The first two steps completed with affirmation that ServerEntrise was an eligible target from ServerStandard.

The third step errors with Error 1605 and from the log:
2015-09-11 22:48:54, Error                 DISM   DISM Transmog Provider: PID=5960 Product key is keyed to [], but
user requested transmog to [ServerEnterprise] - CTransmogManager::ValidateTransmogrify

I have been messing with migrating a 2003 Standard to 2012 R2 Essentials using this article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn408633.aspx

I don't like the way it keeps jumping here and there but I hit a snag on step 2. Actually installing the Essentials. It says to ignore the Essentials Configuration Wizard and if it pops up to just cancel it. OK. So I installed AD services and joined the domain. Things looked good until I tried opening up the Dashboard and of course it came back and said I needed to complete the Configuration Wizard. Now for some reason the Configuration Wizard won't complete. I can kind of tell why... it asks for the computer name, internal domain, etc. and .... it had already been joined to the existing domain. So is there any way to complete the Configuration Wizard at this point?

It is a little confusing. It tells you to cancel it yet you can't get in to the Dashboard without completing it.....

In 2007 it was easy and I am sure it must be easy in 2013 but I can't seem to find a way to check all mail going into a mailbox.

I have checked mailflow - delivery reports -- selected the mailbox and search... All I get is mail from the person to other people.  I want to see all the messages they are getting from other people.  I just need to know mailflow is working.  The search pane results would be great if they included anything from other people.  What am I missing?

The mail I am looking to find is not from anyone in our internal infrastructure so I can't just check that mailbox.

IE  Mail box "Dave" -- How many messages has Dave received.

Thank you

I need to add connection info to a VPN client config in Window 8 by going to Connection Properties, in Networks, but I cannot click "View Connection Properties", instead only "Clear Save sign-in info" is available. Below is the instruction I was following, but I can't seem to find the Connection Properties window (it has 4 tabs: General, Options, Security, Networking)

I followed this instruction: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj613767.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Q: how do I find the Connection Properties window

Hoping someone can save me some time and point me in the right direction with this please..

We have recently taken over support of an environment with Exchange 2010 and Lync 2010.
Lync is primarly (only) used for IM internally - there is no need for external access or voice at the moment.

We changed the A records in our external DNS zonefile to point to a new website with SSL and since then Lync prompts to accept the website certificate when signing in.

Lync signs in ok but then when trying to connect to Exchange it seems to browse to http://external.co.uk:443 via our proxy server - hence the website certificate being presented.
We have one SIP domain (internal.local) and users have SMTP address of "f.s@external.co.uk"
As part of looking into this i changed the CSAdministrator group (back) to Universal and can now publish topology
We have split DNS so i have added A records for autodiscover into our Active Directory internal.local and external.co.uk zones, i also added an SVR record for _autodiscover and Lync client can now use EWS successfully

The client is functioning (in fact with EWS we now have a little more functionality) but we still have it trying to browse externally and being presented with the website certificate. Users could probably just click to trust the server but i was hoping for more of an elegant & global solution.

Any Ideas?

Hi Experts,

I'm running Windows 2008 Server R2 Enterprise SP1.

When I log in as an Administrator, then create a new Standard user account and set a password, there is no folder created for that user.
I was expecting that creating a user myuser would automatically create a subfolder: c:\Users\myuser.

I created the user account via Control Panel | User Accounts.
Am I overlooking something?

Regards,
Leigh

Within the last week I happened to read an Experts Exchange article that discussed how to be able to download Microsoft software simply by providing a serial number activation key.

Can you please help me find that Experts Exchange article?

I need to download the latest version of Server 2012 R2 Data Center but no longer have an VLSC account I can logon to in order to download the installation file (even though I have a valid VLSC activation key).

Please help me:

1. Find the article I mentioned above

2. Provide me with a solution on how I can download the latest version of Server 2012 R2 Data Center without having a Microsoft VLSC logon account.

Hi all,

Recently we change Project 2013 sharepoint permission mode to project server permission mode. After that we're having problem. Users can access to project web app but they cannot see any available projects. I have configured permission on PWA settings -> Security section and Site Settings - > User and Permissions. Put user into project team member /web app synchronized/ and they are already assigned as resource on the project.

Can't find what's wrong. Please help me.

This is using a newly-setup MS SCCM 2012 r2 server, in a standalone primary site. However, on the monitoring > Component Status, found a critical error message by SMS_Notification_server service, as follows:

Site component manager failed to install this component, because the Microsoft installer file for this component (bgbisapi.msi) could not install.
Refer to Bgbsetup.log, the bgbisapimsi.log, as well as the Configmgr documentation and Microsoft kb...

I search and found with by inserting the <runtime> <LoadFromRemoteSources enabled="true"/> </runtime> into installutil.exe.config & regsvr.exe.config files. Followed by restarting dtc service and site component service. However, still got the error with the error shown in bgbsetup.log:

CTool::RegisterComPlusService: Failed to unregister C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\x64\microsoft.configurationmanager.bgbserverchannel.dll with .Net Fx 4.0
CTool::RegisterComPlusService: Failed to register C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\x64\microsoft.configurationmanager.bgbserverchannel.dll with .Net Fx 4.0

Fatal MSI error - bgbisapi.msi could not be installed.

Appreciate your help to troubleshoot the problem.

thanks,

We have issues with Windows XP clients being prompted for network credentials over and over. Never allowing Outlook to open and connect. We have about 200 XP machine left in the environment unfortunately. Since we set up a hybrid CAS server in hopes to eventually start migrating mailboxes to Office 365, this issue started happening. All Windows 7 and greater running Office 2010 or greater aren't affected.

I know the XP and Office 2010 requirements are Office 2010 SP2 and Windows XP SP3. I have verified that they have this patch level.

Troubleshooting Steps taken;
  *   Installed updates to Windows XP SP3
  *   Installed updates to Office 2010 SP2
  *   Setting up a new Outlook profile
  *   Editing the Authentication settings(NTLM, Basic) and Encryption settings in the current Outlook profile

All our servers are Exchange 2013 CU6 on Windows Server 2012.

I am wondering if we need to run the Set-OutlookProvider command on the Exchange servers... but only article I can find is to do it on Exchange 2007. Wondering if anyone has had a need to and run this on the 2013 Exchange servers?

Set-OutlookProvider -Identity EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:*.contoso.com
Reference: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc535023(v=exchg.80).aspx

Could it hurt to run this on Exchange 2013 servers?

Thanks in advance.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10_editions
Windows 10 Enterprise allows BranchCache, but Windows 10 Pro
does not.

I was thinking BranchCache is at the 2012 R2
fileserver level, did not matter what the CLIENT had.

Any ideas ?
