Currently running SCCM 2012.  It's been running successfully for about a year.

No recent changes.

Sometime over the last month, all packages are becoming corrupt when getting transferred to the distribution points.  17mb files are becoming 200kb, batch files are being stripped and replaced with a line of gibberish.  This is happening on both distribution points that we have.

I've rebooted, completed all updates, tested with different types of packages.  Nothing has successfully published to the DP without becoming corrupt.

Any direction or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way in SCCM 2012 R2 to shutdown and startup computers at certain times? In my case I want that all my workstations get a shutdown every Friday at 6 pm and WoL every Monday at 7:30 am.

Hi, I am looking at replacing my current enterprise backup solution (Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3) with Microsoft's System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 R2.

However, I am having difficulty located any decent documentation on how to setup protection groups for full backups of my servers, which range from File servers (hosted on Server 2008 R2 & Server 2012), SQL Server 2008 R2 servers, SharePoint Foundation 2010 server farms, domain controllers (hosting AD DS, DNS Server, DHCP Server, Group Policy Management, etc.), Web servers (hosting IIS 8.5), Hyper-V host servers, Virtual Machine servers, etc.

I want to create weekly full backups and daily diffs of them, if possible.  I only have Netgear NAS devices connected via iSCSI for my storage pools.  Also, I have some Netgear NAS devices offsite at another location for my offsite disaster recovery plans.  I would like to use my NAS devices to perform D2D2D for longer term backups, by storing my long term backups to my offsite location in place of a tape backup solution of D2D2T.

So, does anyone have any links, articles, training options, etc. that could assist me in understanding DPM 2012 R2 so I can setup my backup solution properly?

Thanks in advance.

I have an enterprise root CA 2008 R2 server issuing automatic computer and user certificates out to the domain. I would like to decommission the server they are coming from. We currently have another CA in our environment we would like to take it's place, on a domain controller. Ultimately I would like deploy a fresh enterprise root CA as a standalone for the domain (off of a DC).

My questions regarding this situation
1. It appears we have no real need for this CA at the moment, we do not use SSL for internal domain websites nor EFS for file shares. Could i effectively revoke and destroy all CA's in the environment? Am i missing something?
2. Is a CA required for basic domain functions?
3. if i cannot remove the CA, could i effectively revoke all the certificates and decommission the CA?
4. What is worse cast scenario if i destroy and revoke all certs?

Thanks!

Is there a Group Policy Setting to allow for a primary and secondary WSUS 'site' for receiving windows updates?  We want our laptops to be able to fail-over to updates.microsoft.com when they are unable to reach our WSUS server. We do not have a WSUS server in our DMZ so that's not an option.  Thanks in advance!

When I try to deploy Windows Updates by SCCM 2012 R2, on Monitoring > Deployment Status the target computers still in the Unknown tab.

I have this WSUS error “ System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable.~~   at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration.AdminProxy.CreateUpdateServer(Object[] args)~~   at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration.AdminProxy.GetUpdateServer()~~   at Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.WSUS.WSUSServer.ConnectToWSUSServer(String ServerName, Boolean UseSSL, Int32 PortNumber)”.  I try run iexplore.exe > Go to internet options > Go to conections >
Go to LAN settings > Uncheck all boxes. But the problem still.
Any ideas?

Hi -

I have an internal security audit coming up. I'm wondering what you would recommend to disable the auditor from pulling the SAM accounts from the PC, Laptops, and Servers?

Are there any drawback? I don't want to cause the end-users or servers to be a problem.

All my servers are 2003-2012R2
Clients are Windows 7

This is what I was thinking in GPO:
Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares

I have a question on wins.  A colleague from another location mention to me an owner of an IP has records listing of computers with his IP range which is causing some intermittent issue.  I notice the IP owner used to be a 2003 Domain controller no longer in use it was decommissioned a while back and most of our DC's are 2008R2.  How do I get rid of this owner from all our wins servers?
I found this article https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc776359%28v=ws.10%29.aspx.  I applied the second part of number 5 and so far 3 days have passed and I don't see this owner and the records tombstoned on the other wins servers.   I was wondering if I am missing something?

Hi,

We have already upgraded our SCOM 2007 R2 environment side by side to SCOM 2012 R2. I have also upgraded my all clients to SCOM 2012 R2 as well. Now our SCOM 2012 R2 is in production and clients are looking for both 2007 and 2012 servers.

How can I remove/uninstall SCOM 2007 from our environment gracefully so the client should point to SCOM 2012 R2 servers only?

Hello World,

How does one undo the following command in Exchange Management Console:

Set-Mailbox -Identity John -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $true -ForwardingSMTPAddress manuel@contoso.com

I found it on this page: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123981(v=exchg.150).aspx

I was hoping to CLI it like in Cisco. Apparently, its not as easy.

Appreciate the help in advance.

Thanks !

Hi,

We currently use SCCM 2012 with SP1 and it is set so I can create a update package and deploy critical updates to the workstations i.e. update office, windows O/S, SQL Server, etc. This all works fine.

By Default when using SCCM when a workstation runs a manual windows update (or a scheduled windows update check) it’s says nothing is available as its looking at the SCCM server and the user needs to click on “check online for updates from Microsoft Update” for the manual update to work.

I would like the workstations to look at Microsoft for the updates first so they can schedule their own Windows updates and then have SCCM push updates out for all the machines that are not updated.

Is this possible? It’s just that certain users are rarely on the network and different members of staff use different software so I don’t want to download all updates and push them out to each office when there might just be a single user using a particular Microsoft package i.e. Visio and would rather they update themselves automatically using windows updates and I push out the critical updates only.

Thanks,

Hi Experts,
I am about to renew my license agreement with Microsoft , and I wanted to check how many licenses I currently use. I am usually on top of my users  and licenses so it should be ok with the number of licenses I have but still I would like to check what my system is telling me .

Where can I find this information?
I need the number of license for Exchange and also Active Directory.
Thanks.

Hi @ all,

We are using Microsoft SCCM 2012 in our environment. Due to technical problems to deploy Microsoft Updates with SCCM and the lack of knowledge about SCCM, we decided to temporarily migrate the MS patch level management to a stand-alone WSUS environment. Unfortunately the clients do not report fully to the new WSUS server. The clients appear in the computer group, attachend with client side targetting, but with "Not yet reported" state.

What we allready did:
1. Removed the Software Update Point component configuration from the Configuration Manager 2012 environment.
2. disabled the "Software updates on clients" option in the sccm client agent settings
2. deactivated the WSUS that was installed on the sccm server
3. Reinstalled WSUS to be used as a standalone environment (with SSL communication).
4. Configure Group Policies to point the clients to the new standalone WSUS server.

when I run the command:
wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow

I can find one of these warnings i the eventvwr:
Capture1.PNGCapture2.PNG
It seems that the sccm agent installed on the computer is responsible for this problem.

What shall we do?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello everybody,

I hope my English is OK for you to understand,  my problem is we are rolling out Microsoft Surface Pro 3 to our other sites and having problems on sites when they pxe boot while the Surface is in secure boot enabled it skips ipv4, ipv6 then goes to Windows that came with the Surface.

Our Surface is using Microsoft Surface Docking an they work perfectly here in HQ.

Our other site configurations are SCCM, WDS, DHCP & DNS on the same server. 67 & 66 are both enabled otherwise the WDS will not start.

I will include later a log on what is happening and pls tell if I need to remove any confeditial info from the log file before sending it.

Thank for your help with this.

You can reference this question for background on what I am asking here.

We have an old domain and a new one.
olddomain.local
newdomain.local

Both domains have Exchange 2010 SP3

Email on the public side goes through owa.domain.com to olddomain.local and then internal relays to any migrated users on the newdomain.local exchange server.

I have all mail flow working fine for everyone EXCEPT this:
Users migrated to the newdomain.local exhange server can't set up their email on smartphones via Microsoft ActiveSync. The AutoDiscover query for autodiscover.domain.com resolves via public DNS/NAT to the olddomain.local exchange server.

Even though the olddomain.local server/domain is going away, we will need simultaneous communication for both servers.

We can't migrate everyone at once due to some other projects so we can only move groups of people at a time.

My thoughts are to direct the IP address of autodiscover.domain.com to the address of newdomain.local's exchange server so the new users can authenticate their phones.

Question: Will doing that cause all existing configurations of smartphones in olddomain.local to stop working or is autodiscover only used for initial setup and once they're set up, the connection will remain?

Am I overthinking this? Is there an easier way to get both domains autodiscovered?

Hi Experts,

I am working on an application doing Bing map rest query. I notice there is a neighborhood information flag "includeNeighborhood" in the query.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701711.aspx

In the example of the link above I observed that the returned locations (Lat-Long) are exactly the same. The only difference is the neighborhood information. However, I just want to double check: will this parameter influence the returned geometry (Lat-Long)?

Thank you!

I am trying to deploy Windows 7 to Dell Latitude laptop that works just fine in legacy "BIOS" mode (with secure boot disabled and legacy roms enabled). However, When I try to set the BIOS to boot into UEFI (secure boot enabled and legacy roms disabled, the task sequence fails immediately after dropping the WIM down to the laptop.

I have attached the SMSTS log file.

Thanks!

We are working on upgrading to AX 2012 from AX 4, and are noticing there does not seem to be a way to cascade permissions down a module.  Did Microsoft take this helpful capability away?  Or are we missing something here.

thanks

We have 2 Hyper-V clusters on Server 2012 r2 with 5 hosts in each and are currently implementing 2 host clusters to another 15 sites. Our requirement is to keep these servers up to date with Microsoft patches with no downtime to the hosted virtual machines. We use SCVMM 2012r2 to manage this solution.

We have Altiris v7.5 installed but are having issues using this to patch the environment - Has anyone succeeded?

We currently perform this task manually by placing each host into maintenance mode, waiting for the VMs to migrate, installing the patches, rebooting and then putting this server back into service before moving to the next host.

We would like a method of automating this process to reduce the administrative overhead of our very talented and busy Infrastructure support team.

We were using SCCM 2012 and end point protection.  We didn't like the way it performed and went with a different vendor.  We uninstalled manually, but SCCM reinstalled automatically.  Is there a way to uninstall via SCCM and prevent it from installing again

Disable RSA key exchange ciphers using the Group Policy Object Editor (Windows Vista and later systems only)
You can disable the RSA key exchange ciphers in Windows Vista and later systems by modifying the SSL Cipher Suite order in the Group Policy Object Editor.
To disable the RSA key exchange ciphers you have to specify the ciphers that Windows should use by performing the following steps:
At a command prompt, type gpedit.msc and press Enter to start the Group Policy Object Editor.
Expand Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Network, and then click SSL Configuration Settings.
Under SSL Configuration Settings, click the SSL Cipher Suite Order setting.
In the SSL Cipher Suite Order pane, scroll to the bottom of the pane.
Follow the instructions labeled How to modify this setting, and enter the following cipher list:
TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA384_P256,
TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA384_P384,

Recently, I have added both Windows 2012 and Windows 2012 R2 into our existing Automatic Deployment rules in SCCM however, if I right click All Software Updates and run Synchronize Software Updates and monitor wsyncmgr.log file the requested categories are not listing Windows 2012 or Windows 2012 R2. See here: Sync.JPG
Also when I open Windows Server Update Services on the SCCM server and select Products and Classifications Windows 2012 and Windows 2012 R2 is not selected.

But if I select these categories and then run Synchronize Software Updates from SCCM... when I check Windows Server Update Services Windows 2012 and Windows 2012 R2 Products and Classifications are unticked again!

I really need our SCCM to download product critical, definition and security updates for Windows 2012 and Windows 2012R2! Please help, it's driving me crazy!
