Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint is a slide show presentation program currently developed by Microsoft. PowerPoint presentations consist of a number of individual pages or "slides" that may contain text, graphics, sound, movies, and other objects, which may be arranged freely. The presentation can be printed, displayed live on a computer, or navigated through at the command of the presenter. Slides can also form the basis of webcasts.

I am currently using PowerPoint 365 with Excel 365 and in earlier versions of Excel/Powerpoint if I updated a pivot chart in Excel then that was reflected in my PowerPoint (I was using Paste : Use Destination Theme and Link Data - however I'm finding that even when I refresh the data in PowerPoint, the changes are not always reflected...why is that?

Secondly, where can I find an explanation of the difference between Link Data and Embed workbook - and when would you use one over the other?
I use this feature often and it's been working but with a recent update, the slides no longer display the synced icon by the slide number and when i open the document it doesnt update.

Any fix?
I'm working with a client on an application which will display a list of files which are available for a user to review (file types: pdf, Excel, Word, PPT, Text).

The problem is that after these files are opened:

Application.Followhyperlink pathname\filename

The user has the ability to Save or Save As from the application (Acrobat, Excel, Word, PPT, NotePad, ...) user interface.  Is there any way I can open open the files with some form of command line switch which would prevent any of those applications from allowing the user to even see the File option on the application menu?  I only want them to be able to view and then close these documents.
Hi!  We are testing our existing files before upgrading from Office 2010 to Office 365 (Office 2016).

We have a complicated Excel frontend created by users to process data and automatically create charts and graphs and ultimately export everything directly to PowerPoint.

We have done a ton of testing but have only come across one problem that I can't seem to resolve.

VB code that copies and paste a chart from Excel to PowerPoint works in Office 2010 but not in 2016.
Here's how the code currently exists in Office 2010.
        Set activeSlide = pp.ActivePresentation.Slides(1)

This gives us the following error in 2016.
Run-time error '424':
Object required
(also see screenshot in Word doc)

I read posts online and made the following code changes but ended up with the same error.
        Set activeSlide = pp.ActivePresentation.Slides(1)
       '9/5/18 activeSlide.Shapes.PasteSpecial(DataType:=ppPasteOLEObject).Select 'Runs table
        Dim pptshape As PowerPoint.Shape
        Set pptshape = activeSlide.Shapes.PasteSpecial(DataType:=ppPasteOLEObject)
        '9/5/18 end

As I said, this code runs fine in Excel 2010.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?  Also, please note that we need to be able to paste the object (which is a table in Excel) so that PowerPoint links to the table in Excel and "sees" any updates that may be made in Excel to the table.

Thank you for your help.

i have a powerpoint presentation with 10 slides. I would like to create an index page where all the index numbers (1-10) are linked to their appropriate slide. So, clicking slide 4 in the index will automatically go to the actual slide 4.
Can one write a macro that will create the index page with links , say slide 1, for any amount of slides in a presentation?

Thank you,
On my powerpoint slides
I have the background set.

But the textboxes are all different heights and with different formatting

I would like to click on a textbox
Copy its format
And go to a slide and paste that formatting only

Height, position vertical position fill etc...
In the code below, I pass the FillFormat object of a selected shape to the function. I then pass the FillFormat object for the text within the selected shape but it raises a Type Mismatch error. The FillFormat object TypeName is the same in both cases and it only appears as a member of the PowerPoint library and is not duplicated in the Office library. I know I can declare oFF As Object but I'd prefer to understand why am I getting this mismatch error in the first place? To test, you just need to select a shape with some text in it on a slide and then run the Test procedure.

Sub Test()
' Format the fill for the selected shape
  Debug.Print TypeName(ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange(1).Fill)
  ChangeFillFormat ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange(1).Fill
' Format the fill for the text inside the selected shape
  Debug.Print TypeName(ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange(1).TextFrame2.TextRange.Font.Fill)
  ChangeFillFormat ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange(1).TextFrame2.TextRange.Font.Fill
End Sub

Function ChangeFillFormat(oFF As FillFormat)
' Do stuff with the fill format
End Function

I am in the process of creating a visual IT process diagram using images. However, I am unable to find the type of images I need. I am building the diagram in Visio and can import the images if I had them or knew where to get them. I have attached a file with the type(s) of images I am seeking.

Many thanks in advance.

I have a powerpoint presentation with sound.  I can export it to a movie file (mp4 or wmv) but there is a section where the slide transitions don't move properly.
If I take the powerpoint to the Mac, I can export it correctly with the correct slide transitions but there is no sound - (apparently a known issue).
Is there a reliable no-cost way to convert a powerpoint to a movie file?
Hi Experts,

I have a presentation that includes about 20% hidden slides.
I don't want to show any hidden slides.

I can't work out how to do a full screen presentation without the hidden slides showing.
(I'm using Powerpoint 2016).

I am trying to change the width of an already narrow Powerpoint table column. But PPT would let me neither increase nor decrease the width. What do I need to do to control the width freely? (Font size of text in the column is set to 1)

I have a table in Powerpoint. When I increase the width of one column with the mouse, it eats into the width of the neighboring column.

How can I change the width of one column, without affecting the width of the neighboring column? Instead, if I widen one column by 1 inch, the overall table should just become one inch longer.

Hi Experts.  I'm copying a file to a remote pc and would like to see whether the process succeeded or not.  Assistance would be appreciated with getting this to work.  Thank you.  Below is my guess that obviously hasn't worked:

Copy-Item -path $source -destination $destination -Force | Write-Host "File copied to $destination"

Hello EE,

Can someone please help demonstrate how to copy Text from Excel to a PowerPoint shape.  I have a vba that creates PowerPoint slides and copy charts to PowerPoint.  I also have Text in excel that i want to copy and be placed on the slide and inside a shape on the slide

Please help
I have a VBA project with several userforms and modules that's evolved over many years. As of today, PowerPoint 2016 on Windows fails to load the pptm project without error and I've tracked it down to one userform in which all of its ~20 controls except one (a MultiPage control) have disappeared and hence the numerous corresponding control events code, which is still present, is complaining.

When I open the project in PowerPoint 2013 or 2010 the userform appears correctly and the project compiles. I have exported the userform from 2010, deleted it from the project in 2016 and re-imported it into the project in 2016. The userform still appears to be empty apart from the one MultiPage control and the project doesn't compile.

This userform isn't the only one using a MultiPage control so I don't think that's the issue. If I remove the userform from the project and the associated .Show method elsewhere, the project compiles normally.

What is going on?!

I want to put an object. e.g. a rectangle in a powerpoint slide that, when I click on it, it will open an excel spreadsheet. What is happening is, when I click on the object (on presentation view) it just goes to the next slide.
How do I do it? Can anyone help?
(I am using ms/office 2016)
I struggle to arrange text boxes properly in PowerPoint, and I can't seem to find solutions on the web.  For example, why can't I move the bottom of the text box highlighted in the attached Word File, and in the attached PowerPoint slide, up further? Can someone point me to the solution or an article that explains how to effectively manage text boxes in PowerPoint?
