Trying to create a hyper-v template for server 2012. I did run sysprep /OOBE and checked "generalize" but how come when I started this template it was asking to
1. accept license term
2. select region and language and click <Next>
and then comes the <Alt-Ctrl-Del> screen for you to log in the Administrator. Oops, if I didn't type the password I set prior to creating the template, I wouldn't be able to log in. A template should NOT be this way. Instead, it should allow you to set up a brand new password for the local Administrator. But in my case, it didn't happen that way.
I must have done something wrong while creating the template. Can you help?
I have Lync Server 2013 running on Server 2012 R2. All of a sudden the Lync Server Control Panel isn't loading anymore. Attached is an image of the errorLync-Error.PNGI am getting HTTP Error 404.4-Not Found page.
Detailed Error Information
Handler: not yet determined
Error Code: 0x8007007b.

I have been able to log in just fine in the past but when I tried the other day I am getting the error. I have verified that Lync is 100% up to date as of now. I looked through the event log and haven't found anything that would point to an error. I'm sure it is a setting somewhere in IIS but I cannot find where. Someone please help
We have a SharePoint Server 2010 installed internally and another ASP.NET web application using Windows Authentication (same domain and same set of users as SharePoint). We want to configure ASP.NET web application as an external federated search source on SharePoint, it is running fine with Anonymous authentication for configured Federated Locations (using OpenSearch 1.0/1.1 protocol).

However, we would like to configure SharePoint to pass through or authenticate the ASP.NET web application using the same user account logged on SharePoint Sites. But we haven't found any way to do it yet.

Is that possible? And how to achieve that?
Some time ago I setup a test SP server, was a basic setup and used it to demonstrate some nice look sites and functionality to my bosses. The test server somehow drift into a production server along with all the mistakes and bugs. The server works, users are able to access what they need to, there are no work flows or anything fancy, we use it purely as a internal company info hub, new employees, general notifications and then we have our company's training manuals and quality management policies on it as well, these make up the biggest portion on SP and are also the most important.

Now it has recent been requested that Apps be added but the gremlins have shown me that this will not be allowed. I can't remember everything that was done to this system or what was added, removed, broken, fixed, etc. and I have a feeling it might take me longer to figure out than to actually just build a new SP server.

How would I go about installing a new SP server, keeping it the same name and not have to recreate all the content on the current server and ofc not drag any of the problems along with it?
Dear EE experts,

We would like to ask on how to download all files from SharePoint document library at once.
We would like to download all files that are stored on a document library, but most of the suggestions that we got from google are not possible, specially the "Open with Explorer" & "Download a Copy" are both disabled. We don't have time to download each file so we need to grab it at once....

Thank you and hope to hear any possible suggestion soon...
Background - XenApp 7.6 on Windows 2012. Lync Server 2010 with Skype for Business 2016 client.

Trying to run Skype for Business 2016 client against Lync Server 2010. Microsoft says this scenario is possible if the server is running February 2015 Cumulative Update (4.0.7577.710). The server has been patched. I can open the client and login, however I receive a generic error message, see attached, that will not go away. If I click OK, the error message keeps coming back. The client works other than this error message. I cannot find any info in the event log on the Citrix server, the Lync server or any useful info in the Lync client logs.

Anything else I could look at that might help me with this issue?
hello, i have been receiving the scnotification.exe error on nearly all my images after upgrading to sccm r2 sp1. is there something i missed during or after upgrade? any resource sites, ideas or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. thanks
My company recently migrated from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 and they made the decision to not migrate the My Site data. I have a broken WebPart that is using the QuickLinkManager object to create a link to a individuals My Site. Can QuickLinkManager write to something else beside My Site or does anyone have an idea for a workaround?

Thanks for the assistance
My company recently switched from SharePoint Server 2010 to SharePoint Server 2013, but for now it is the 2010 Emulation Mode. One of the older (created on SharePoint Server 2007) Visual Studio SharePoint projects does not work after the migration and I need to rewrite it. Eventually we will shut off 2010 Emulation for a pure 2013 environment so my question is - will a SharePoint 2013 Project work on a SharePoint 2013 Server emulating SharePoint 2010 and once we shut off the 2010 Emulation, will it still work?
Hi Guru's, I have SCCM 2012 R2 serving 14,200 clients. I'm rolling an an Adobe package, but I need to make sure it's not running before installation begins. How would I do something like that? (For .exe in general.)? Basically I need to kill the processes before installation starts.

Thank you for your excellent assistance!
I realize that we should be using an edge server and in time we will.  However, we are just basically using lync 2013 on a single server for messaging only.  Not interested in any audio visual yet.  This has been working for months now just fine, however the server took a unplanned power outage and was shut down unexpectedly.  After getting everything back up and running, I can only get lync working internally but not externally with messaging. Given me a DNS issue.

As a note, my exchange server was affected as well, but ended up I need to set the binding back for the SSL to the port that fixed that.  No such luck with Lync.  I am positive the topology is correct as it is working internally and even double checked everything.  I checked the AD DNS for the SRV record and it works.  I know it is something simple, but no idea what to look for at this point.
Greetings!  Setting up WDS on Server 2012 64-bit.  I am trying to generate a catalog file for an image and I keep getting this error:
(see attached log file.  I had an error stating the version of the ADK was not correct and got rid of that error.  Now I get this one.  Unknown.
Anyone run into this before?  Any ideas?  Doesn't matter if I create an image using ImageX, ImageX GUI, WDS.  I am using a WIndows 8.1 installation disc as the source of the install image.

Any ideas or comments of a mature, friendly and/or professional kind are much appreciated.J--WSIM-error-Log-Catalog-file-creat.txtpicture of basic error WSIM
Best regards,

Hello all. I have a little situation here that I need some help with. I have a Windows 2012 Remote Apps server setup for remote sessions (not remote desktops).

I then had one of my DBA's write a MS Access front end that requires each user to launch a unique copy of the front end. How can I go about setting up and publishing an app where the server will copy the front end file and use that unique copy for each user?

I tried writing a .bat file that copied the file from a shared location to the users profile and then launch the front end, but when I publish it, I can connect to the remote app website, launch the .bat, but it runs that .bat file on the local machine and not the RDS server.

An example of my script is:

xcopy "\\server1\share\frontend.accdb" "\\server1\users\%username%\desktop" /Y
Start "" "\\server1\users\%username%\desktop\frontend.accdb
After i login to RDweb 2012R2 or RDweb 2016 i am presented with the web interface with the programs listed, if i click on any program it download a file instead of launching the program.  My 2008R2 RDweb works perfectly.

any ideas?

We are using SharePoint to publish reports from SCOM. I think this is recommended and compatible because both products are from Microsoft. Will you recommend another alternative to SharePoint?

Many thanks in advance
Active Directory Certificate Authority Root

When I attempt to start the certificate service, I get the error:
The system cannot find the file specified. 0x2 (WIN32: 2 ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)

The policy module for a CA is missing or incorrectly registered. To view or change the policy module settings, right-click on the CA, click Properties, and then click on the Policy Module tab.
So I click on Properties and the “Policy Module tab”. I click on “Select”, which brings up “Set Active Policy Module”. The only option to select is “Windows Default” which is already selected. I click OK and try  to start the Certification Service and receive same error.

I checked the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CertSvc\Configuration\CA Name\PolicyModules
That has a string value named “Active” with a value of CertificateAuthority_MicrosoftDefault.Policy

Just to make sure I reregistered the certpdef.dll but that didn’t change anything.

The Event Viewer says:
Active Directory Certificate Services did not start: Could not load or verify the current CA certificate.  (Name of our certificate authority) The system cannot find the file specified. 0x80070002 (WIN32: 2 ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).

Our certificate server is a 2012R2 member server. I migrated the certificate services from a 2003 member server which is being deactivated.

The local group: “Certificate Service DCOM Access” membership is Authenicated Users

The AD group: …
With identity management, something like Microsoft Identity Manager, does this mean that if you have an application on-premise, and you have A.) an Active Directory, and B.) an ADLDS also on-premise, that the application can authenticate a user from both A and B by connecting to an identity management server via LDAP instead?
Is there a meta-verse where their login is created and password is sync'd from ADLDS or AD, and it the application authenticates against the meta-verse/MIM database?
Hi People,

Due to the PCI requirement, I am forced to minimized the members of Domain Admins group.

This is including:
The SCCM client push install service account DOMAIN\SCCM-PUSH-SVC
The SCCM 2012 R2 Standard (Site Server) AD computer account itself PRODSCCM01-VM.

So I wonder what's the minimum service account that is recommended with bare minimum without breaking SCCM functionality ?
Can I remove the AD computer account from the Domain Admins group ?

My SCCM version is 2012 R2 or the vNext edition which I only use for Workstation only not the servers.

Thanks in advance.
I’m working with SharePoint for the first time and in the process of setting up an SharePoint 2013 environment to integrate with a few other applications. My questions are about caching in SharePoint 2013. In our network, I have 1 server for SharePoint 2013, another sever for SQL. Here are my questions:
1.      SharePoint is not required to be installed on the SQL server. Is that correct?
2.      After the SharePoint installation, I never specifically configure the cache cluster. Do I need to do this or SharePoint already did that? If SharePoint already did that, how can I get the information about the settings?
3.      If I have to setup the cluster, where do I start? SharePoint PowerShell or app fabric?
I will have some more questions, depending on your answers.
I have starting getting the error "VAMT reported that the response from the activation server did not match the request" when trying to do a proxy activate request.  This is happening at multiple campuses with different servers and with different license keys for MS Office 2016..  I am running VAMT 3.1 on Servers 2008R2 and 2012R2 and getting the same results.  The license keys show as active and validate on the MS Volume License Center and have been working normally previously.
Any help will be appreciated.
Is there a way to keep two IIS/SQL servers in synch without clustering?

Have a request to set up two servers in a live server, backup server type of situation. Servers will be Windows 2012 R2 running SQL (not sure of which version) and IIS. I expect they will be running in a VMware environment. At least that would be the preference.

As I said, a cluster is not required. Only requirement from the user is that the data synch every five minutes at most. The switchover to the second server does not even have to be automatic. They are fine with just having two icons, one for the app on each server.

Is there a way to do all of this without a cluster? Or are we just reinventing the wheel? I see there is a MS synch framework, but can it be done more simply than this?
We received frequent Lync limited functionality error for few user .
We observed below event on the Lync server when issue occurred every time.
Event id - 32112,32068,32113,52013,52012
Also same time we observed event id 833 on the SQL server for I/O issue on Temp DB.
We also notice when we recieved 833 event on the SQL same time we recieved event 32068 on the Lync front end server.

Just wanted to Know is there any logging i can enabled on the Lync frontend server to capture this issue to get more clue to resolved the issue.

When used together with SharePoint Server 2013, Office Web Apps Server provides updated versions of Word Web App, Excel Web App, PowerPoint Web App, and OneNote Web App. Users can view and, in some cases, edit Office documents in SharePoint libraries by using a supported web browser on computers and on many mobile devices, such as Windows Phones, iPhones, iPads, Windows 8 tablets, and Android devices.

The editing from a mobile device sounds excellent.

Does anyone know if there is an offline edit functionality?  That is, if my mobile device is offline, can I open the file (providing it has been synced to the mobile client), edit, and then save such that at the next sync, it will sync the edits back to the file?

The issue with mobile devices is that they tend to be out of service for long periods of time.

Due to PCI requirement, the membership of the builtin domain admins must be secured, but somehow I noticed there are two things related to SCCM 2012 R2 which O do not know how to do.

PRODSCCM01-VM --> The SCCM central server
SCCM-Push --> SCCM client push install service account

How do I remove it from the domain admins membership but still maintain SCCM functionality ?
