How can I install VAMT on a server 2016 to use MAK licenses rather than KMS licenses.  If I try to use Server Manager add roles and start VAMT, I don't see an option to use MAK licenses, only KMS.  Am I missing something here.  Do I need to install VAMT 3.1 from the Windows 10 kit instead?
Thanks in advance

I have found a really useful PowerShell script for getting site level permissions for a SharePoint web application:

http://www.sharepointdiary.com/2016/02/sharepoint-site-collection-permission-report-powershell-script.html

However, it is a bit misleading as it does not really give you any information on item level permissions within each site, so it can be somewhat misleading. Do you know of any scripts that can go the level below, and provide permissions for each item within a site?

could someone help me with a very basic (idiots) guide to the difference & interaction in SharePoint between a 'web application' and a site/site collection. And when it comes to access related permissions, e.g. who can access a document uploaded to a site, e.g. https:\\ourcompany\sites\ourteamsite - are access control related permissions typically set per site, or per 'web application'. If that was your concern (permissions) do you need to be focusing on 'site level' permissions, rather than the 'web applications' level permissions? Or where would you apply access control permissions in such a setup, generally?

I am trying to understand if your sharepoint server typically acts as a glorified file server, where lets say each team in the company has a locked down area for sharing files amongst their direct team colleagues, and each individual in the company has a personal area for files only accessible to them, and each of these areas are essentially 'sites' in sharepoint, then what exactly is a 'web application' in regards to sharepoint? is it in my link above, the https:\\ourcompany, which basically represents a collection of sub sites? I ran the cmdlet get-spwebapplication and all it essentially returns is a list of URL's.

I am trying to install the MS Volume Activation Management Tool using the feature with Server 2016.  It appears when I install that feature, it only allows for KMS licenses and I need to be able to manage MAK licenses.  Is there a way to use MAK licenses with this feature.  Should I just download VAMT 3.1 and install that on the 2016 server.  We currently use the VAMT 3.1 on 2008 R2 and 2012 R2.
Thank for your help

hello SCCM guru's!

We are upgrading to SCCM 2012 R2 1810. However, the pre-req check fails on here: [Failed]:No Active MP Replica detected. (We do not even have a MP replica.)

All else passes. But it will not allow upgrade without resolving that error.

Any ideas on how to get past that?

Thank you for your assistance!

We are unable to login to our Extenua Silvershield SFTP app. The admin password is not accepted. I have access to the server but can't login to the Silvershield console.

I have emailed their support like 5 times but no response.

I was hoping someone here uses this app.

Renew Lync Group Chat certificates.
Our internal Chat server cert recently expired. Skype for business group chat has stopped working.
Skype for business 2010.
Does anyone know how to renew a certificate between the Chat server and the Lync server ?
Both are housed internally in our building.

Thanks!

What are the steps to enable Phased Deployments within SCCM 1810?

Hello All!
I'm back again. So myself and another guy I work with have inherited the SCCM system from our predecessor who is no longer with the company. (hence all the SCCM related questions)

We are looking at upgrading to ConfigMgr 1810 from 1802. I'm doing some research to understand the process and make sure I am not missing anything major so that we can make this as seamless as possible.

Some basics about our setup:
-14 DP's of which 11 are Pull DP's
-1 Cloud DP
-Only run OSD from a single site - the Main SCCM site
-Have only recently begun expanding application deployment via SCCM, so minimal applications on the DP's at this point
-We have about 1500 clients installed including VM's, servers, and end user workstations

What I am wondering is what the major considerations we have to think about before we get this started. I'm speaking specifically to your experience and or resources. I have the MS TechNet upgrade checklist, back up procedures for the the site, and a step by step upgrade guide from System Center Dudes. We are planning on taking a snapshot of the SCCM server ahead of time to protect the system if it all blows up.

Would be great to get some insight from anyone with experience in this as I want to minimize the surprises (I know I can't eliminate them all) for this upgrade.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to your insight!
Curtis,

what would be some useful checks to include in an audit/health check of SharePoint (and document management in general). The obvious one we can think of is around permissions of documents stored in SharePoint, to ensure sensitive documents are only accessible by the approved users/groups - but I wanted to spread the review a but further, and was hoping for some inspiration on what above and beyond security permissions would be useful when looking at such a system (it doesn't have to all be about security). Any common SharePoint mistakes/risks above and beyond permissions also most useful,

Build an E-Commerce Site with Angular 5

Build an E-Commerce Site with Angular 5

Learn how to build an E-Commerce site with Angular 5, a JavaScript framework used by developers to build web, desktop, and mobile applications.

We recently upgraded our SCCM clients (Configuration Manager) to 5.00.8634.1814.

We did this after upgrading the site to 1802.

After the upgrade all of the icons in Software Center are wacked out.  Prior to the upgrade, something was taking different sized icons and make them automatically appear the same.

In the new version, this functionality works in the List View option - all icons appear the same size regardless of their size.  In Tile View, which everyone uses, this is not the case.  The icons are not being adjusted for the view.

Has anyone else noted this issue?  Is there a setting somewhere I can click to resize?

I hope so.  So far it's that or I have to resize them all manually.

Hello! I have an SBS 2011 server that uses SBS Fax service to route faxes in and out, delivering inbound to an email user. Worked like a champ for years, and then the ZOOM USB modem that was doing this job died and was replaced with a USB USR 5637. I have removed the drivers from the previous fax modem and installed the drivers for the new unit, and was able to run the fax configuration wizard from the SBS console and two problems occur. The first is the option for "route through email" is grayed out and not selectable. I opted to select store in a folder instead to complete the wizard successfully, and it errors out on Configuring US Robotics v.92.  Manually attempting to start the fax service results in a message that is does start successfully, but immediately stops, and the app log provides these errors 32108 and 1000 (below).  I have also removed and reinstalled the SBS fax service on the server with the same results.  Any thoughts on how to get this service functioning again as soon as possible?  TIA!

SIP and Primary SMTP domains do not match. Skype for Business 2015 client displays EWS not deployed.
Hello, I have an Exchange 2007 and Skype for Business 2015 Server on-premise solution deployed.
Originally, functioning fine with SAN certs using <company>.org domain for required certs on mail server and SfB 2015 Standard Edition solution (Standard, Edge and WAP servers).
Primary SMTP domain was <longcompanyname>.com  (domain NOT included in the SAN certs) and everything functioned fine including Conversation History and Calendar synch between Outlook (2007-2013) and Skype for Business 2015 client.
Fast forward a few years and....
New domain purchased and Primary SMTP for each user changed to <shortcompanyname>.com
NOW, Conversation History and Calendar do NOT synch with Outlook anymore.
Research appeared to state I can have this circumstance without issue after running 'Set-CsClientPolicy -DisableEmailComparisonCheck $true'
Ran the powershell command on the SfB Standard Edition server, rebooted test client and SfB solution. STill Outlook Integration Error and EWS not deployed in SfB client Configuration info.
Advice?

I'm having no luck with this on Google.

I need to create a custom report in SCCM that will list out all systems that have not rebooted within the last 14 days.  I'm completely unfamiliar with creating SCCM reports.  I'm looking for a step-by-step on how to create this report.  So far, I've found lots of SQL statements that don't work but that's about it.

If you have a link to a video or article on how to do this it would be great!

Thank you,

I am interested in trying to use PowerShell against our company SharePoint portal, We have some automation Tools like MS Flow and Alteryx Server that we are leveraging and I am trying to connect to a Workflow History listing. However, it is hidden from these other tools and I hoping Powershell might be an option.

I am trying to install and get it to work our on AWS EC2 environment and I keep having a lot of trouble adding the Add-In for SharePoint,

I tried following this kind of instruction but had zero success.

We are SharePoint Online/O365

Any suggestions?

We are trying to deploy OneDrive.  We have Office 365 Enterprise E2 licenses for the users.  When I’m using a test user to login to OneDrive, I keep getting this error and I don’t understand why.

In our Sharepoint site, we have 2 lists.
One we'll call list A (which is the master list) and list B (which is almost the same list, but with less fields).

  • List A is only accessible by a small group of persons (let's call the group G).
  • List B is accessible to everybody.

Our workflow is structured in such way that when you create an element in List B, it gets copied in List A and deleted from List B. The goal is to enable anyone to create entries in List A, but with limited access to certain fields.
If a user of group G creates an element in List B, the workflow works perfect (since the user has "contribute" access on List A, being member of group G).
But if any user NOT member of group G creates an element in List B, the workflow doesn't work, because it uses the same credentials as the user logged in who doesn't have "contribute" access on List A.

My question is :
Can we and how easy is it to impersonnate another users account in Sharepoint in a workflow process? The goal would be to impersonnate a generic user account that would have "contribute" access on List A and use that account just to make the copy on List A.

My second question is :
If it's not possible to impersonnate (or if it's not a good practice for security matters), how could I manage such a situation?

Thanks,
Claude

We use Ken's Skypeoptimzer site to create our dialing rules. we've used failover routing in the same site for this.

unfortunately an unintended result is: any external inbound call to one of our users which has simring enabled, results in the sim ring leg of the call going out via our second SIP trunk and not through the same trunk as the inbound call. this becomes an issue since our Secondary 'failover' trunk is infact a pstn gateway which cannot pass the original calling parties call id on the outbound call id of the simring portion of the call.

we do have an sbc which we can add the pstn gateway to (the same one which controls the primary SIP Trunk), the issue is this would introduce a single point of failure into the call path.

has anyone successfully managed to deal with this issue?

Over one month ago I setup a new Server 2012 / Exchange 2016 with the intention of migrating the existing Exchange 2010. No disruption of services was the highest priority so installation progressed at a glacier rate. We finally reached a point where both mail server were operational, the 2016 server could send out email, the 2010 server continued to run the show. Last weekend I changed firewall settings so that the new 2016 server handled both inbound and outbound email and proxied down to the 2010. Worked great for about 5 days; no one was even aware of the change. As of last night...

1) 213 outbound emails stuck in queue

2) OWA gets a "page not found error"

3) Exchange Admin Center shows the login screen but displays a blank page and hangs. Even more interesting is the ECP folder is empty.  There is only a config file.

Temporary fix - changed the firewall settings back to the old server. It would be nice to get the 2016 to deliver the emails stuck in the queue.

Short of completely reinstalling Exchange 2016, is there a way of fixing this? And more importantly, how did it happen?

I am trying to include some text blocks on a SharePoint 2013 Survey.  It would seem that there would be some functionality that allows for this, but there is not.  Is there a way around this?  I need to include some titles and directions at the beginning of the survey, and some informational text throughout the survey.

Hello
Currently we have TMG as web proxy and websense as web filtering
We are going to replace TMG with Bluecoat SG Appliance.

Hence I need to know which design is considered as best in terms of secure and efficiency.

We have 1500 users.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am upgrading CRM 2011 to CRM 2013 for two organizations (CRMTEST and CRMPROD).  The plan is to upgrade each org to newer CRM versions to get to Dynamics 365 (so CRM 2011 to CRM 2013 to CRM 2015 to CRM 2016 to Dynamics 365)

My question is: we have built one CRM server to Dynamics 365 specs and one SQL Server built to Dynamics 365 requirements.  Is it recommended to have separate servers for  the CRMTEST org and CRMPROD org?  Given our current VMs, we would need to upgrade to a single set of servers, with CRMTEST and CRMPROD on the same Dynamics 365 servers.

The current CRM 2011 environments have separate servers for CRMTEST and CRMPROD.  What could be the problems with both TEST and PROD on the same servers?  For example, could this cause issues with refreshing CRMTEST with CRMPROD?

Thanks
