Hello gurus ,
Not sure how to start the question, hopefully makes sense in a sec.
I have quite a few reports built. For some reason, the formatted numbers show a comma after each digit when an Excel exported report is viewed on a mobile device.

Does not matter if it is in a Matrix or just a Grid.
i.e.   $12,345,000.00   shows up as $1,2,3,4,5,0,0,0.00

If I change the format from #,0;(#,0) to n0 or n2 then the issues is resolved, but, if this is a global issue then I rather find the solution instead of going through all reports.

Speaking of these reports, they all show correctly on the desktop's Excel.

Additionally, the Matrix layout, expands all hidden toggleable groups.
Very strange.
Appreciate any information that may lead us to a solution.

I am currently running AD on 2012r2 with the functional level at 2012r2.
Our ADFS is currently running on 2016 with a farm behavior level of 3.

I am unsure what level the ADFS actually is.  Is it actually considered version 4?

This is coming from and attempted install of LastPass ADFS connection.

They provide a piece of software to run on the ADFS server to allow the federated connection.
They provide two version one from server 3 and one for server 4 depending on your ADFS level.

Can you run level 4 ADFS in an AD 2012r2 environment?
We've got an issue, an IIS web application can't access a file on a shared drive.
The app pool credentials are the same as the desktop user credentials we are logged in to the server's console. The account is a domain user account and also an administrator on this web server (it's an intranet server). The anonymous authentication is set to "application pool credentials".
From the windows UI the shared path is fully accessible both via an UNC path and mapped drive, but running from the web app we are getting an "LOGON FAILURE"  in the Process Monitor log.
I tried to create a virtual directory pointing to that shared drive, but IIS can't access the web.config neither, displaying a 500.19 server error with a error code 0x8007052E

I don't understand, what could prevent a domain account to access a shared folder on another machine in the same domain just because it is being running from an IIS process?

Some one please let me know why this happening?

If I have 2 WSUS servers, one is the main server and the second is the downstream server (replicate) then how client knows which one it should talk to?

I continue to have issues, with this SSRS report.  I have entered five cases, here in experts-exchange, on this.

Now, I'm getting an error on the main report saying that the "Subreport could not be shown".

Last week, the subreport's data appeared just fine.  This week, it does not.

What would cause this issue?

I just now implemented a simple filter saying that cost should not be equal to 0.  Now, SSRS is giving me an error saying that it "cannot compare data of types system.decimal and system.double".

Hi Experts,

we have an old linux file server with some shares. Lets say we have here 100GB data.
Now we want to go to a new windows file server Windows Server 2019.
The file server is already installed with DFS and DFSR.

Do you know an easy way to migrate the files and permissions to the new filer ?

Can I use ROBOCOPY for it maybe  ?

In SSRS, I want to filter out only those employees with more than 1 partfile number.

My query is

            p.pfnumber from employees as e
left join partfile as p

group by

What expression do I use in the filter to be > 1?
I need to install Dell R510 with the OS Win Server 2019.
Per suggestion one of the Expert of EE, I have to download the BIOS of a Dell machine R710.

I am not sure here; I have a Dell server R720; is it workable?
I have already EXTRACT the Bios of R720 into a USB Stick.

I have here with me the OS of Windows 2012, 2016 and 2019.

I am still confused here:
I will try to install the OS at R510 by deploying the OS;
I will put The Windows 2012 OS; then, where can I INSERT the above USB stick which has the BIOS of R720 in it? What key should I press or select?

Is there any other driver should I download from Machine R720?

Good day,

I am in the process of migrating my entire network to a new domain. There is a trust relationship between the old and new domain. I have also kept usernames and group names the same as well as migrated SID across to new domain. When migrating my file server to new domain, all permissions are still intact as it was on old domain. How do I keep the permissions the same and just change the domain name from old to new, i.e. olddomain\group1 to newdomain\group1 on all folders, subfolders and files? I have SubInACL but have never used it before and don't know the commands.

Also, is it wise to migrate the SID's across to the new domain?
Hi, the time on our Server 2012 R2 keeps changing a few minutes ahead. It should be setup for NTP.
Lenovo TD340 server 2012, purchased in 2015, my customer needs to upgrade in place to server 2019 to continue to get support from our app vendors.
My supplier says Lenovo TD340 does not support server 2016 or 2019.
I am trying to write a SQL statement whereby I have a field named FormElementReference, which is the name of the question, and an associated field called value which holds the answer to that question.

I've written a case statement to try and achieve this, and store the separate values in separate fields for export to SSRS.

What I currently get is an row for each answer value.

Screenshot showing SQL with a row for each value.
  FormResults.FormResultKey AS [FormResults FormResultKey]
  ,UserForename + ' ' + UserSurname as [Full Name]

,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'Date' then value else null end AS JobDATE
,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'Time' then value else null end AS TIMEFrom
,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'TEB' then value else null end AS TIMETo
,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'TEA' then value else null end AS TotalWorked
,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'JNO' then value else null end AS JobNumbers
,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'AA' then value else null end AS JobAddress
,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'Reason' then value else null end AS JobReason
,CASE WHEN FormResultDetails.FormElementReference = 'Managers' then value else null end AS ManagerAuthorised

In SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), I have an "If, Then" formula shown in the first of two formulas pasted below.

I have this formula as an "expression" in a cell.  I want to multiply this cell times a value in another cell and have the product (multiplication result) appear in another cell.  I keep getting an error message that does not explain itself.  But, the error is clearly letting me know that I;'m not doing this correctly.

Specifically, I'm trying to tell SSRS to multiply this formula times another field.

This other field contains the second formula pasted below.

What formula do I use to accomplish this multiplication?

Thank you!

I'm unable to create an OU in Active Directory, it says that an OU with that name is already in use.  I did a search for this OU at the top level of domain no results.  I created this OU last night on secondary DC it never propagated over to primary.  Came in this morning secondary DC had "Pending Status" assuming it was from the newly created OU last night,  unable to get rid of Pending status without a reboot.  Now even though OU doesn't exist it thinks it does.  How can i clear this up?
Hello Everybody and have a wonderful day,

Could you please shed more light on the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (part of the Microsoft Solution Accelerators) for inventory and performance information. Is this Tool/Product still a viable solution to use or there is/are a new product/s?

Thanks in advance

We are trying to track down an issue where the password expiration date is not conforming to our policy.  We have a 90 policy, but the password on domain accounts seem to be expiring at 42 days.

The following net user command provides the expected output:
>net user /domain joe.user
The request will be processed at a domain controller for domain
User name joe.user
Full Name Joe User
User's comment
Country/region code 000 (System Default)
Account active Yes
Account expires Never

Password last set 8/1/2019 9:09:56 AM
Password expires 10/30/2019 9:09:56 AM
Password changeable 8/2/2019 9:09:56 AM
Password required Yes
User may change password Yes

The 10/30/2019 date corresponds with the 90 day requirement.  However, the password expires much sooner.  Using the following get-aduser command, you get a different date:
(Get-ADUser -Identity joe.user -Properties msDS-UserPasswordExpiryTimeComputed).'msDS-UserPasswordExpiryTimeComputed' |ForEach-Object -Process {[datetime]::FromFileTime($_)}

Thursday, September 12, 2019 9:09:56 AM

The dates provided by the two commands are different.  Any insight why, it may help use narrow down the issue if we knew why the two commands return different dates?  Also, the account really does expire earlier than the 90 policy.  We've had users needing to change their password even though the net user command shows they have plenty of time.

Attached is my main report, along with its subreport.

As you may be able to see in the screenshot, I need a subtotal based on account number (the first column).

The subtotal needs to be by the extended cost, which is the "Ext" column of the main report.  This column represents extended cost.

I have produced this total in the subreport.  But, I cannot tell where to place it on the main report to generate the subtotal.

If you have any thoughts at all, please share them.  Even the "littlest" idea will help.

Thank you!

We have a number of reports that run out of our batch system behind data loads. There have been some recent updates. Previously, we have only one account type, so the parameter was just a single-value text value. We now use a multi-select parameter, and am getting an error when we attempt to run in batch although it runs properly through the web interface. I've captured the command line from our batch system:
\\\share\CM\DEV\OPS\Apps\SSRSReportBuild\SSRSReportBuild.exe "Report=Solutions/ZZ-XX-12345-AccountAuditReport" "FileName=FCT-ZZ-XX-12345-AccountAuditReport.rdl" "MaxRunTime=1800" "Path=\\rpt2webtest\MFTest" "pAcctType=ABC,XYZ" "pAcctTypeList=ABC,XYZ" "pRunDate=20190906" "pRunType=D" "Render_Format=EXCEL"

When executed, the job fails with this error:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'pAcctType'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value.

Any suggestions of how to correct this and properly pass the value for pAcctType, a multi-value parameter?

Some of the questions that might come up
  • The source of available values for the multi-select parameter in the report is a SQL query.
  • The values 'ABC' and 'XYZ' do exist in the data.
  • We cannot pass the same parameter name twice on the command line, as the API does not allow this and will generate and error (I mention this becasue some web searching I've done indicate that is how you pass multi-select values in the web interface (e.g. &pAcctType=ABC&pAcctType=XYZ...)
is PowerShell get-hotfix command a reliable way to determine that last windows security update applied to a windows server/client? I have used it on a sample of servers and it seems to sort the results into a sequential order although some seem a little but out of order so to speak, I've picked that the last value in the sequence and then gone online using the KB number, e.g. KB4499151 - to determine the date is was released/issued by Microsoft. Is this an accurate way to determine the last date an update was applied.
I'm having trouble with my internal SMTP mail relay. A user had some malware and we were flagged as spammers. Now SSRS email does not work. I have loads of stuff that uses the internal mail relay but am slowly going through and changing things but am stuck on SSRS

The only options I have within SSRS Config Manager are :

Sender Address:
Current SMTP Method: (set to 'Use SMTP Server' but greyed out)
SMTP Server: (This has IP address of internal mail relay)

Does anyone know how to get this to work with an external SMTP server?
