Client Computer BackupsClient Computer Backups 2Hi,
I have Windows Server 2012 Essentials and found this unfamiliar folder C:\ServerFolders\Client Computer Backups folder occupying over 700GB of space.
It consists of files from yesterday to April 2017 as you can see in two screenshots.
What are these files? Who is creating these files? Can I remove them?

In order to capture all computers in the domain on the new WSUS server, should I place a WSUS GPO just under the domain (like with the default domain policy)? Would that be a bad idea?

To note, I found 145 servers in AD using powershell with only 8 of them being disabled. Since yesterday, 45 have shown up on WSUS but they are in specific OUs where I linked the WSUS GPO. The other servers are in the Computers container and Domain Controllers OU (12 DCs). So, I am about 90 off between AD and WSUS (after I link the WSUS GPO to the Domain Controllers OU).

Hi Experts,

We are using Dynamics CRM 2016 on prem.  We have a subject tree built out in our CRM system that contains subject matters for Cases.

Our customer service people are in need of some reporting, and I think to get them the data they need I might need to use SSRS or Visual Studio, but if Advanced Find is an option I'm all for it because it gives them the ability to tweak their results on the fly without involving actually changing queries or reports.  Avanced find is tempting, as it will let me use the UNDER option, which is kinda cool, but I don't think it does enough.  It seems like I can only chose one subject matter at a time to report on.

Anyhow, they would like some reporting that captures each item we have listed as a subject.
They'd like this by year or by month and with a count of occurances.
So for example, I think they want something like this:

YR 2019
       Vendor Issues                     210
       Personnel Issue                    14
       Bad venue experience        45

I have a Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V server with 3 VMs.  One of the VMs is setup for Remote Desktop Services and we have about 13 users connect into this server to work.  Most of them connect to it from within the office.  Some of the users connect from outside of the office.  The managers asked me if there's a way that I can restrict remote access for some of the users.  They would be able to work at their computer within the office but if they go home and feel like they want to remote into their session, they would be restricted from logging into their session when they're out of the office.  What's the best and most simple way to accomplish this?  Thanks in advance for your help!
I'm executing a query inside SSRS and receiving an ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.  It's just a SELECT statement but the error appears to be in the Where clause.  Am I specifying the parameter, @PaperBill, incorrectly?

I have opened an RDL file in Visual Studio 8, when I preview the report, I get an error message  “The selected Data Source cannot be found”.
When I go to the DataSource properties, it tells me to verify that the DataSource be included in the Project.
I do not have the rds file.

Within the Report Server Database I can see an entry for the Datasource in a table DataSource.
Is there someway I can extract this database entry into an rds file?
any guidance appreciated.
We're looking for a simpler solution for controlling Windows updates on our 60 windows servers (some of which are Server 2016  which seem to have a mind of their own as to when they want to update themselves) .

As a new admin in my company, I'm working hard to learn lots of things but SCCM / ConfigMgr seems like a beast to learn.

The desktop guy uses it for the win10 desktop update (400 users in 6 locations).  My boss doesn't want to use the same instance for servers because years ago, desktop updates were pushed to servers which trashed a bunch.

In my previous job, we used WSUS which seemed more manageable.

So, I'm looking for a simple solution for windows updates for servers without me needing to get a PHD in configmgr.

We're even open to 3rd party solutions if that would make it less painful.

I guess from a bandwidth perspective, downloading it once and updating from a local copy would be more efficient but since we just got a fatter internet connection, I'm even open to skipping that as a requirement if it would make it simpler.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

What's the best way to failover a file server cluster? I need to take down the servers for maintenance separately but don't want any downtime.

Setting up a new Hyper V environment replacing SBS 2011
I have the opportunity to do a full setup of Windows 2019 server with Exchange 2019 to replace an aging SBS 2011.
I will need a new hardware platform and look for suggestions on the best practices:
1) Should the host OS be on an SSD rather than SAS 15K ? (it will be on a RAID 1 anyway and the Hyper V VMs will be on a RAID 5 or 10 depending on suggestions))
2) Should Active directory be on a VM or a physical machine ?
3) 2 or 3 VMs planned: 1 for Exchange, one for File and print sharing and may be another one for A/D depending on suggestions to 2)
Hello All,

I am using the following expression to calculate percentage in SSRS,
however, sometime the calculated values aren't equal to 100%  they are 99, so the rounding is not working correctly.
Can someone please help?  Thanks.

I am designing a SSRS matrix report that shows a list of people and people on their team in categories. For example

                 |CAT1      |CAT2      |CAT3
JOE           |SAM       |BILL        | MIKE
ALAN        |SAM      |ADAM     |
DOUG      |               |BILL        |STEVE

This much works fine. But sometimes there are two people in a category for one person. So if there are 2 cat2 people for ALAN I need:

|                 |CAT1      |CAT2       |CAT3      |
|JOE           |SAM       |BILL        | MIKE      |

|ALAN        |SAM      |ADAM     |                |
|                  |              |MARK    |                |
|DOUG      |               |BILL        |STEVE     |

How do I get that textbox to expand so that it displays both values?

I am using Visual Studio 2015 and SQL Server 2016.

Here are some details that may make the question clearer. There are four tables involved. Here are the table and the relevant fields:

Category Table

ManagerWorker Table
Worker ID

The query results look like this:

ManagerID, ManagerName, WorkerID, WorkerName, CategoryID, CategoryName
1, JOE, 1, SAM, 1, Cat1
1. JOE, 2, BILL, 2, Cat2
1, JOE, 3, MIKE, 3, Cat3
2, ALAN, 1, SAM, 1, Cat1
2, ALAN, 4, ADAM, 2, Cat2
2, ALAN, 5, MARK, 2, Cat2
How do I stop being asked for the user credential and password when I launch the SSRS reports.

I have a GPO that I have created that is meant to install an application using an .msi file. In the GPO I have configured the Software Installation that is using the DC as the source. It has been moved up the link list, and is enforced and Link Enabled. As of this time, it is only assigned to my user for testing purposes. But when I log in to a computer, it does not install the specified software.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
I applied windows updates to two servers this afternoon.  Tonight I am getting complaints about accessing domain resources.

If I do a nslookup   it responds with the correct address.   If I do a nslookup fs-server-01  i get   *** can't find fs-server-01: Non-Existent domain.

I have added a domain suffix in dns settings and this was working earlier today.   I have restarted DNS on both DNS Servers.  (DS-Server-01 and 02).  Both servers are running Windows 2016 Standard

Has anyone had similar issues?
i copied a diagram from word to microsoft paint

size of the diagram almost reduced to half the size. how to maintain same size while copy pasting from Microsoft word to Microsoft paint

please advise
Hi ,

Our company have two domains (Two forests). Domain A (Windows Server 2003) and Domain B (Windows Server 2008). Two domains have build a trusted relationship. We plan to upgrade Domain B to Windows Server 2019 (2008 -> 2012 -> 2019) next year. I want to know that :

- After upgrade domain B to 2019, can I keep the domain relationship between Domain A and Domain B? Or I need to rebuilt the trusted relationship ? Or I cannot rebuilt two domains relationship due to old Windows OS on Domain A?

Using ADFS 3.0 additional authentication rules would the following be possible to create a rule that would do the following.

If OS = Android
And = IP address range is like 192.168.x.x as an example
Force Forms Authentication

If a device does not make this rule is would proceed with the normal Windows Integrated Authentication
I am creating a chart inside my SSRS table.  In my table I have ClaimAccount, Quantity, BillingDate and ChargeComments.  I am creating a report that groups on ClaimAccount.  But for a few accounts there are multiple records per month so I want to split out those reports while grouping the others.  ChargeComments has project details that can use for grouping.  Specifically, I want to group on the part of ChargeComments that starts with a slash and all the way to the last letter of the string.  This section of the string is variable length.

How do I add a group in SSRS based upon this section of ClaimAccount that starts with a slash?

ClaimAccount     BillingDate    ChargeComments
000450                 01012018     DOIXM/agribix2348             this is one group
000450                 01012018     CIXMS/bourlagzip7              this is one group
000520                 01012018     DASFALKG/zip3                    this is one group
000520                 02012018     DASFALKG/zip3                    this is part of the group above because it has the same ClaimAccount and same BillingDate
Hi Expert,

We have a fresh installation of SQL Server 2017 & SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) on a Windows 2016 server.

I am a domain admin and have local sysadmin access within SQL.

I am not able to see the tabs when opening a browser to http://servername/ReportServer.  So I am unable to configure the site and reports for users.

The DBA did do a restore from an older database (2008), so I am able to see 2 folders and their reports (content); however; I am unable to configure the site.

I've added to Trusted websites, ensured that UAC is off and local server firewall disabled.

Any thoughts on how to get SSRS 2017 working on Windows 2016 so I can configure it would be appreciated.
PowerShell Gurus,

I am relatively new to PS and we need some assistance from the experts.  We have implemented a script to partially automate our server deployments and remediate vulnerabilities.  The issue is when it has already run on a system, it does not fully apply and errors out stating it cannot modify because it already exists.
1. If the setting is already there, example registry change, can we just skip and try to implement the next change and so on...
2.  Certificates - Instead of defining a static path can it prompt for the path to generate the CSR within?
3.  Secedit - prompt for the location of the new security template file
3.  Some of our applications need TLS 1.0 to actually work - So prompt if we really want to make this change?

Start-Transcript -Path C:\Temp\serverbuildpolicylog.txt -Append -Force -Verbose

# Create CSR for RDP certificate.
$certname = Read-Host -Prompt "Enter FQDN of server."
(Get-Content -Path C:\temp\servercerttemplate.txt -raw) -replace 'fqdn', $certname | Set-Content -Path C:\Temp\servercerttemplate.txt
certreq -new C:\temp\servercerttemplate.txt servercertCSR.csr

# Set registered owner and registered.
$registrypathregowner = "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion"
$registrykeyregowner = "RegisteredOwner"
$registrykeyownervalue = "Some University"
$registrypathregorg = "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion"
$registrykeyregorg = "RegisteredOrganization"
$registrykeyregorgvalue = "Some Unit"

Hi, I had a Client's Virtual Server (VMWare/ESXI server) infected with .adobe (Dharma) ransomware. I haven't been able to restore it from a Windows Image Backup. I do have a backup of all the data/partitions as vhd files from a manual backup. I haven't been able to get Windows Server Backup to see this location though.

The good thing is I still have the old physical server that the current virtual server image was taken from earlier this year. It still boots up and seems to work ok. The plan is to attach the VHD's via Disk Management and manually copy/restore the data. I will have to update Active directory with the new users that were added since earlier this year.

I have a question regarding Active Directory and Exchange.

1. If I create the user profiles again in active directory, will the users be able to see their mailboxes when I mount the backed up Exchange database?

Server OS: Windows Small Business Server 2011 r2
Exchange: Exchange 2010

Note: I know this is a messy situation. Ideally I would have liked to just create a new virtual server and restore the data but in this circumstance it hasn't been possible.

Thanks in advance

I just upgraded a series of SSRS reports from SQL 2014 to SQL 2017. For some reason on two of these reports SSRS is inserting page breaks in between the groupings. There are no breaks and there were none when displayed using SQL 2014. What can I can examine that would explain this? I am using VS 2017 Community to deploy the reports.
I have series of SSRS projects that I have moved to a new server. I am using VS Community 2017.  For the vast majority of the reports I get the prompt to upgrade and all goes well. For a couple of these reports all I get is this project is incompatible and The application is not installed. The few where this does not work tend to be newer projects that were fine using VS 2015. What can I check to get these reports to upgrade so I can deploy them? I tried deleting the rptproj.user fie but that did not help.
accidentally installed the DC role and promoted it on our Terminal server.
demoted and removed the role. now the Remote Desktop Management service will not start.

what would be the steps to resolve this? i'd prefer NOT removing the role and reinstalling as there are many remoteapp and other configs setup.

alternatively i have a backup i can restore from before the screw-up, however i'm not sure if that's advisable due to the promotion?
