While transferring files to a different storage area, there were several files that would not transfer due to the number of characters used by the user when saving the name of the file.  These files cannot be opened or renamed or copied or moved.  What is the simplest method to be used to allow me to save and store these folders & files to a new location with a new name <255 characters?

I have a folder named "Credentials" on our Windows 2012 R2 file server that I disabled inheritance on.

screen2
This removed all security permissions from that folder and now I cannot get access to that same folder.

screen1
I ended up doing a restore from backup and I put that restored folder in the same location with a different name.  The restored folder works fine; but, I still cannot remove the original folder from that location because I have no security permissions.

I even tried to push a restore to overwrite the existing folder; but since the security rights were removed the backup software could not replace that folder.  I tried to access the same folder with DOS and I could not.  Any suggestions regarding how I can remove that 'credentials' folder?

In this screenshot what is the exact location of the Test Test user (see the bottom of the screenshot)? Is it OU=users,DC=company,DC=com or is it something else?

The domain name for this organization is company.com

I am trying to follow the instructions within the the https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/24541.powershell-bulk-create-ad-users-from-csv-file.aspx#Code_Used webpage to import username information from a .CSV file to create usernames within Server 2016 Active Directory but every time I try to do this I receive the following error messages:

When I run the following command within PowerShell (running as an administrator) .\un.ps1 I get the error message

Within the https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/24541.powershell-bulk-create-ad-users-from-csv-file.aspx#Code_Used webpage which contains instructions on creating a CSV spreadsheet that contains fields such as the user's firstname, lastname, maildomain, etc. what should be entered within the SAM spreadsheet column?

I understand what all of fields need except for the SAM field. What should be entered within the SAM field?

Firstname | Lastname | Maildomain | SAM | OU | Password | Description

User | Test01 | contoso.com | utest01 | OU=Standard Users,OU=Users,DC=domain,DC=loc | P@ssw0rd| Test User

One of the lines of code explains the syntax as " New-ADUser -Name "$Displayname" -DisplayName "$Displayname" -SamAccountName $SAM -UserPrincipalName $UPN -GivenName "$UserFirstname" -Surname "$UserLastname" -Description "$Description" -AccountPassword (ConvertTo-SecureString $Password -AsPlainText -Force) -Enabled $true -Path "$OU" -ChangePasswordAtLogon $false –PasswordNeverExpires $true -server domain"

Please provide me with the correct entry that should be used for SAM.

Is there a Dell client system update for Dell servers that will download and install the latest drivers and BIOS updates for Server 2016 Dell servers similar to the Dell Client System Update for workstation which can be downloaded from the http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/1960.dell-client-system-update website?

Where can this product for Dell servers be downloaded from?

What is the process to attach .VHDX and .VHD hard drive files to existing Hyper-V virtual machines?

These are files from former Hyper-V virtual machines that I need to connect so I can copy data from them to newer existing Hyper-V virtual machines.

Hi All,

When I create my first DAG through the ECP, I cannot see the C:\FSW like what I have typed in the Database Availability Group window?

Should I manually create the folder in the File Server (that I have chosen as the Witness), or do I have to wait until I add all 5x Mailbox database Nodes ?

Note: The File Share Witness is my PRODFS01-VM (my Production file server).

A company that has two Server 2016 domain controllers would like to setup the Office 365/AD sync tool on both domain controllers.

That way if one domain controller goes offline then the other domain controller will be able to continue syncing with Office 365.

How can this be done?

Hello -

I pulled a SCCM 2012 query on all systems and I see a lot of duplicates. Not sure why I am seeing duplicate devices all with same computer name. What is the best way to clean up?

Thanks,

I just started checking out MimiKatz and all that it can do. My question is simple (and complex to answer), what are some methods that can prevent/secure any cleartext passwords stored in memory and prevent an attacker from being able to retrieve those?

Hi,

At work we have 5 users using one account to login to their PC.

Their manager requested to allow 3 of them to access specific shared folder on File sharing server where the other 2 should not be able to access this folder.

So since all of them are using the same user account, I cannot set permissions based on user accounts because all of them are using the same account.

Is there a way to deny those 2 employees from accessing this shared folder?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

People,

My current company, let say ParentCo.com (1000+ user base) has just acquired new smaller company of just 80-100 users last month.

They've got all on premise:
AD domain controllers - Single Forest domain called ChildCo.com
File Servers ~ 12 TB on their office
Exchange server 2010 with email domain ChildCo.com, ChildCo2.com, Company2.com and SmallCo.com [my current email domain is First.LastName@ParentCo.com]
35+ Windows Server AD domain joined to ChildCo.com
AD user account: FLastname@ChildCo.com [my current AD domain uses First.LastName@ParentCo.com]

So how can I integrate them all into my Datacenter with the AD domain ParentCo.com and converting all users to be First.LastName@ParentCo.com ?

Where to start first so I can allow them to logon to my AD domain using First.LastName@ParentCo.com & access email from my new company ?

I will create the separate thread for migrating:

Active Directory
Exchange Server
File Server

to my ParentCo.com AD domain.
