I have setup a Server 2016 Active Directory network. All of the client computers are running Windows 10 Professional and are joined to the Active Directory domain and have their Windows firewalls enabled. The client computers are also all connected to the network using a Ruckus Wi-Fi system. None of the client computers are connected using Wi-Fi.

How can I change the group policy or other settings on the client computers so that while I am logged onto the server with the domain administrator account I will be able to type in \\clientcomputername\c$ or \\clientcomputerIPaddress\c$ to browse the C: drives on these Windows 10 client computers?

If I put a conditional forwarder in my DNS server and that conditional forwarder is able to hit a DNS record, but it uses its own conditional forwarder to resolve it. Would that be a problem for my DNS server to resolve to that record?

Basically it would take 2 forwards to get the record for that host file. We are trying to figure out why a conditional forwarder is able to resolve a record but not my DNS server.

So example:
My DNS server( uses conditional forwarder( is able to resolve "host"file that is on DNS server ( is a conditional forwarder for

I hope this makes sense.
I am confused about what this gets me MCP status or just half way to MCSE?

Please provide me with instructions on how to setup file history backups of domain laptop files using Server 2016 Group Policy.
I want to edit a host file and replace it on all our machines "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc". Is this possible using GPO? If so can someone provide me step by step instructions on how to do this?
Hello Everyone
I have an SBS2011 box which has performance issues due to SQLSERVR.EXE.  If I kill the process hard drive activity is close to 0%.
Current view from task manager.
Task Manager View
I have adjusted the memory usage in SQLServMngt, reset, deleted, installed, uninstalled and a bunch of other things.  I was able to recover hard disk space, lowered CPU and Memory usage.  If it were not for this one issue the server would be working great.

The service mssql$microsoft##ssee service high disk usage
SQLserver.exe High Disk as shown in the image
susdb.mdf high disk usage
tempdb.mdf high disk usage

If I stop the SBSMONITORING service DISK USAGE the server goes normal.

Below are some the resources I have used to attempt to resolve issue.

What is the proper method to use for using shadow copy within Windows 10 to restore lost files contained within shared folders on the Windows 10 computer?

Several former IT persons have tried to enable this within Windows 10 by setting up a share on the C:\Users folder (as a hidden share named Users$) but when we click on the Previous versions properties tab for the C:\Users folder it is has been empty while on other Windows 10 computers there have been previous versions of files available.

All of these computers have had 13% of the volume capacity reserved for system protection.

What is the correct process for setting this up and ensuring that we are able to use the "Previous versions" tab to restore backed up copies of files within these folders?
HI there, as the title suggests, "Users" tab missing in Group Policy Object Editor snap-in in MMC.

I don't want to use the domain GPO as its not working with the remote desktop software (TS-Plus) and support have advised to setupa local GPO for the relative groups.

Any Ideas why I cannot see the User Tab?
I have a PDC emulator that will not replicate. It gives me access denied when I run a repadmin on it. Im trying to seize it to another server but it tells me that the PDC emulator is unreachable.

Im not sure what I should do. Please help.
My organization has two Wi-Fi networks.

The secondary Wi-Fi network has no connectivity to the domain controllers.

Some of the organization's users like to connect to the secondary Wi-Fi network since it has faster speeds than the primary Wi-Fi network.

Now that all of the laptops in this organization have been added to a domain we are having problems when some of the laptops that are connected to the secondary Wi-Fi network receive error messages when the users try to logon with their domain accounts saying that the domain controller can't be reached and therefore the users are unable to logon to their laptops with their domain accounts.

What kind of policy or setting can be changed so that these users will be able to logon to their laptops with their domain accounts even when the domain controller can't be reached?

Trying to narrow down issue with machines getting DHCP leases. Could be machine, or DHCP relays.

Is there a way to test the DHCP server itself to make sure its part is working correctly? I checked logs, and everything seems to be working fine but is there something like dcdiag that could verify? I dont manage the other parts, just the DHCP server itself so I have to make sure its working correctly. Thanks

I'm migrating from SBS 2011 to standalone Windows 2016 servers.  I have migrated mailboxes to O365, added 2 additional DCs, file and print servers etc and moved across file shares etc.

I have also added a DHCP role on DC1 and disabled the service on the SBS. It has remained this way for over 7 weeks.

The other day, I uninstalled Exchange 2010 from the SBS as part of the migration process and left it like that for 2 days.  I got a call to say all stations were unable to connect to the network with 'unidentified network' errors.  I discovered that DHCP was unauthorised on DC1 and reactivated on the SBS.

I checked the DHCP log on the SBS and the last entry was on the day that I disabled the service,

How could this have happened?  I've done loads of these migrations from SBS and never seen this happen before.

Please provide me with the steps on how to enable Windows Hello & PIN number logon within Server 2016 AD on Windows 10 computers.

We need to enable this so some of the users can continue to sign on with their Hotmail or Outlook email addresses or PIN numbers to their domain joined computers.
Have a GP on a window server 2008 to redirect the my documents to the server, and works well on all computer except one, in the properties on the my document I see the location of the my documents is local, on the same computer the my music location is on the server under the same policy. the computer is a window 7 32-bit
What is the process to prevent all domain group policies from applying to one user's account (the user logs onto a Windows 10 domain joined computers)  in a Server 2016 Active Directory environment?

We have a user with a Lenovo T470 laptop running the Windows 10 64-bit OS. This laptop has been added to a Server 2016 domain controller.

When I try to entroll the user's fingerprints while the user is logged onto the computer with his Active Directory domain account this option is grayed out.

So I followed the instructions found at the website https://www.ceos3c.com/2017/07/21/enable-fingerprint-login-gpo-windows-server-2016/.

However now when we try to go back to the "Sign-in options" the "Fingerprint" section has completely disappeared and there are no other ways (either within Control Panel) or through any applications on the computer to enroll the user's fingerprints.

I'm thinking that there probably need to be other options modified within group policy. I have googled this topic several times but haven't yet found any suggestions on what else needs to be done to fix this issue.

We must make it so that Windows 10 users can logon to their Server 2016 Active Directory accounts using their fingerprints.

The information for this Lenovo T470 laptop is found in the second screenshot "Laptop info"

How can this be done?

Please let me know if any further information is needed.

Issue: When I click on download attachment, a message pops up right away stating pdf did not download.

What I did: The users could not download attachments bigger than 1MB. I looked at all of the exchange settings for size limitations and have them set at 30MB, as well as the config.web files are fine in the sync folder of the IIS.

I changed the default active sync policy to 30MB for Max Attachment size. Phone has that policy now.
Now any attachment on the Android comes up right away filename did not download.
This is happening on multiple platforms of Android (Edge 7, Galaxay)..
Cannot find the problem now why it wont download any attachment.
Hi all,
We are going to deploy Office 2016 (Currently using Office 2010) through SCCM 2012, what do we have to take into account before update process?
Also how does SCCM uninstalls the old office and installs the new one on the top? how does it differentiates between office32 bit and 64? and then install the right version?
Any articles and steps on how to deploy and configure it will be helpful.
Would installing office 2016 through SCCM would be the best way? or deploying it through Group policy will be better?

We have a DFS configuration on a clustered 2008 R2 server environment. It has been working fine before but now it is failing to work.
The DFS replicted folders woult not come online when failing over to the secondary DFS server.
In the cluster event logs i have the following:

Event ID 1205
The Cluster service failed to bring clustered service or application 'File cluster' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered service or application.

Event ID 1069
Cluster resource 'DFSR D:\Data\Corporate' in clustered service or application 'File cluster' failed.

I have about 200 of these events logged when trying to come online in the secondary cluster server node.

I ran the cluster validation report, but obviously due to the time I couldnt do a full one which brings the cluster disks offline. I have cluster resource warnings:
This resource is not configured to use the standard 'Pending timeout' value for the resource type. 'Pending timeout' specifies the length of time the resource can take to change states between Online and Offline before the Cluster service puts the resource in the Failed state. The default setting is generally recommended, but there may be situations where other values may be preferable. This setting can be configured in Failover Cluster Manager by selecting 'Properties' and then selecting the 'Policies' tab.

This is currently set to 15 minutes, and has been…
Hello -

I am looking for a way to change a bulk of computer names within Windows Server 2012 multi domain AD structure? We have many computer names that need to be updated to our new naming convention. I appreciate all your help!

So, I can access a file server in the network, I was given a login credentials- username and password.
I will specifically use this login/pw to access files in a server to allow reading and writing to this particular folder.
Windows authentication is used to login to the app.

I would like to switch to this  ID/pw given to me to authenticate and authorize writing and reading files to the server.

How would I sign in to this identity when I have to write and read files to this particular server? And then when I'm done, Ill switch it back to my original id/pw  identity?
how can I see what region I am connecting to?

After my Windows 2000 Advanced Server froze, I rebooted it and see:
STOP: 0x00000024 - NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM Error

Everytime I reboot the server I am getting the same error and I can't start Windows.  Please help.

Before I started to upgrade my older ESXi server from v5.5u1 into the latest v6.5u1, I reckon I must do the VCenter upgrade first.

I’d like to perform VMware VCenter server migration from:

Physical box
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows vCenter Server 6.0 Update 1b
SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Database – 750 GB size

Into the latest edition of  VMware VCenter Server appliance vCenter Server 6.5 Update 1.

My question is:

1.      How can I perform the migration of the dvSwitch to the Virtual Appliance during the business hours with no downtime ?
2.      Does the VCSA capable to handle the large SQL server database size or does the conversion time will be very long due to its size ?
3.      CBT will be reset hence all VM image backup with Veeam will be running again from full backup not incremental ? How to prevent this issue ?
