One of a set of tools we are providing to everyone as a way of saying thank you for being a part of the community.

I was told "now you guys probably want to create a VIP and add 022/023 in it and have the share be available on either host". We have a share that is load balanced on 2 servers for redundancy. I was told to create a VIP.  Im not sure what that is or how to do it. Can someone help?

We've had Symantec Backup Exec 2010 running just fine on this server but all of a sudden its services keep on stopping all by themselves and we have to keep on restarting them, but, it's unusable at the moment.

The admin password hasn't changed, I re-entered it for all the services, but they keep on failing all by themselves.

I've restarted the server as well, tried a repair, but nothing has helped.

Any thoughts?

The OS is Windows Server 2012, Backup Exec is up-to-date.

Thanks.

What happens if Server 2016 doesn't have enough Client Access Licenses (CALs)?

My organization purchased 35 "OLP WIN SVR CAL 2016 SNGL NL USR CALs" for our Server 2016 server but now we have around 50 users who each have their own Active Directory user account.

So far we haven't noticed any issues with user logins but I just wanted to know what the consequences are for us not having enough of the client access licenses (CALs).

Is there any way of assigning Active Directory access permissions to folders contained within a Synology DS1815+ NAS?

I have tried to do with other Network Attached Storage (NAS) Devices even after they have been attached to an Active Directory domain and haven't been able to do so.

Is this something that can be done with Synology Network Attached Storage Devices? If so what is the procedure for doing this?

Hello - I am running SCCM 2012 R2 and when attempting to pull a list of Adobe updates (product) from filtering, I do not have Adobe listed as a product. Another tech that has been here longer mentioned that we needed some sort of plugin. Can you advise as to what I need to do to allow Adobe updates as a product list within SCCM?

Thank you so much.

Within my Server 2016 Active Directory domain how can I generate a current report of which domain users are logged into which computers?

I would like to generate a GUI, web-based, or command line report with this information.

If this can't be done natively within Server 2016 then what third-party utilities or programs can be used to do this?

Hi,
Environment is Windows Server 2012 R2 with Essentials Role.
We use both RWA and straight RDP to a specific port to specific computers for remote access.
On the ones using straight RDP (MSTSC) and Windows 10 home on the client and Windows 10 Pro on the host, we can get multiple monitor support by checking "Use all my monitors for the remote session" in the display tab. Works great!

I can't get multi-monitor support when going from Win 10 Pro to another Win 10 Pro host using RWA. I know It will work on Windows 7 using Ultimate or Enterprise editions (so I have read). Should it work for Windows 10 or did I miss something?
Again the question is accessing Windows 10 Pro host from any Win 10 client.
Thanks in advance!

What are some good programs or methods for removing personally identifiable information (such as usernames, names, passwords, etc.) from Windows dump files such as the C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file?

I would like to share these dump files in places like Experts Exchange but would first like to remove most (preferably all) personally identifiable information.

How can I perform a search within Windows 10 that searches an entire drive but excludes a particular folder path within this drive?

For example I would like to search for .mp3 files within the S: drive while excluding the S:\files\music folder. How can this be done?

What is the correct syntax of the PowerShell command to set all network connections as private?

For example I currently run the PowerShell command Get-NetConnectionProfile. This command lists my network connection profiles and tells me if they are public, private, or domain authenticated.

Then I run the command Set-NetConnectionProfile  -InterfaceIndex 2 -NetworkCategory Private to set Network connection profile 2 to private.

What is the powershell command that I can run that will set all Network Connection profiles to private using a single PowerShell command?

I have tried using wildcards such as the asterisk (*) symbol instead of typing in a number (such as 2) but this doesn't work.

What is the correct syntax of the PowerShell command that will set all network connections to private?

When Office 365 users try to logon to Box.com using the Single Sign On (SSO) opttion they receive an error message that says "AADSTS50105: The signed in user 'user@domain.com' is not assigned to a role for the application '23255106-946e-4c11-8170-131e9f810d10'."

I used the instructions from this website to generate the metadata file for Azure Single Sign On (SSO) for Box.com: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/active-directory-saas-box-tutorial.

This occurs even though Box has been configured to use Azure to logon to Box and all Azure users have been assigned E1 and E5 Office 365 licenses.

Currently I am in Step 1: Test the connection and have put a checkmark in the "SSO Test Mode" box.

I have submitted an urgent tech support request to Box but haven't heard back from them yet.

What else needs to be done to fix this issue so that this organization will be able to use Single Sigon on (SSO) through Azure to authenticate the Office 365 users to logon to Box.com?

Do the Office 365 users need to be assigned additional or different licenses?

Please let me know if any further information is needed.

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.

SNAPSHOT - before patching we would just take a system snapshot. It was as simple as RIGHT CLICK and create snapshot. Restoring was just as easy.

Where is this hidden in AWS?

A youtube video or how to URL will be enough for me. Thanks experts!

I am experiencing an issue where my Server 2016 Active Directory and Office 365 aren't syncing.

When I sign onto the Office 365 Portal with any of the Global Admin accounts the DirSync Status says the Last directory sync was 6 hours ago and that there has been no recent Password sync (see the screenshot).

When I run the Start-ADSyncSyncCycle -PolicyType Initial Power Shell command (while logged into Office 365) within either the Microsoft Azure Active Directory Module for Windows PowerShell or the Windows PowerShell I receive the errors shown below.

I have closed, relaunched PowerShell as an administrator and then relogged into Office 365 within both the Microsoft Azure Active Directory Module for Windows PowerShell and the Windows PowerShell and have rebooted the server and continue to receive this error when trying to sync Active Directory and Office 365.

What can be done to fix this issue?

What commands, methods, or utilities are available that will allow me to export all recently typed Power Shell or Command line commands to a text file?

I often need to go back and look at all recently typed in Power Shell or command line commands and being able to export these commands into a text file instead of having to press the up cursor key to scroll through the recently typed in commands will be quite helpful.

If there aren't any ways of doing this using native Windows commands or functionality then what third party utilities or software will allow this to be done?

What are the best driver update programs/websites for Server 2016 and Server 2012?

I support a lot of generic, non name brand servers that run Server 2012, Server 2012 R2, and Server 2016 and am always interested in loading the latest drivers on these servers.

I have found that the Driver Booster website doesn't update all of the drivers that can be updated.

So what are the best driver update programs, utilities, and websites for Server 2016? Are there any free solutions for doing these updates?

I currently have all of my devices on the 192.168.50.x network, including my current "company.root.tld" DOMAIN on 192.168.50.10

Can I create a new "newCompany.newRoot.tld" DOMAIN on a 2nd Windows 2012 HyperV using the available 192.168.50.20, with DHCP disabled and slowly move the 10 PCs I have over to the new domain one-at-a-time, with the machines still getting DHCP IPs from the old 192.168.50.10 until I have everyone moved over, then enable DHCP on 192.168.50.20 ?

If not, what do you recommend since I just want to get everyone to a BRAND-NEW domain, recreating AD Groups and individual FileServer folder group permissions ?
